This was my first time at this location. It is clean, there is plenty of equipment and the staff are very friendly. I usually do the groupx classes and I really liked the layout for the class room: everything was super organized and there was plenty of space. My only huge complaint is the speakers sound very outdated. They are so muffled you can barely hear the music and it honestly took away from the experience/quality of my workout which is a shame.

Extremely Disappointed – Beware of Their "No Contract" Claim

Gold's Gym advertises their memberships as “No Contract,” but that’s incredibly misleading. After deciding to cancel my membership, I was told the only way to stop the charges was to physically come into the gym and sign a piece of paper. No phone, email, or online options — in 2025, that’s unacceptable.

Even worse, after I canceled my membership in person, they continued to charge me for my daughter’s account — which should never have been active on its own. She’s a minor, and her account was only valid through my family plan. Yet they still found a way to keep charging for a plan that should’ve been canceled along with mine.

This feels like a deliberate trap to keep customers paying. It’s a shame, because the gym facilities themselves were fine. But this shady, outdated cancellation process and the way they handle family accounts is unacceptable. I won’t be back — and I strongly caution others to read the fine print before signing up.

i’ve been coming to this gym for 5 years, love it. BUT there’s a woman who cleans in the mornings, who I don’t care to see. She stares me down constantly and gives me the nastiest looks. I will go to the ladies locker room and she will be sitting there on her phone, staring me down while i’m simply washing my hands. not even being paranoid, because I consistently catch her staring at me with such a nasty look. not sure what I have done to cause the looks but it’s making me dread coming in the morning here when i’m being stared down by an employee. writing this as I left the locker room due to her judgmental stares.

This location has very friendly staff, and the vibe here is laid back. I think it's a great location for a mature crowd and beginners. No intimidation from staff or members.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The gym is clean and has plenty of varied equipment. There's a separate group workout area and a weight lifting room. When I was there from 8 am to 9 am, there were prob. 30 people in the gym area, many of them on treadmills and cycling machines, but there were alot of treadmills, cycle machines, and gym equipment still available to use. The gym is well equiped, and has a clothing and health supplement area. It's a great place to get healthier.

I have been to every single Gold's in SA and this one is (currently) the best Gold's location in San Antonio. While it may look like nothing special at first glance, they have a very interesting selection of machinery and tons of space. If Crossroads ever gets their mosquito problem under control, maybe they'll go back to number 2 but regardless I love this place!

Straight to the bad... I joined, about 8 months ago, and been given the impression that the pool and sauna were being remodeled just to recently finding out, their plan is to never open them again. These were a major factor in me deciding to join. I will be canceling my membership when my contract is up. I was a regular at bandera trails for years, once they did the renovations and updates there I decided to go to Tezel Bc it is way closer to my house , it’s like a hidden resort !! Victoria the front desk girl there made me feel comfortable and as if I was at my own home. She’s very professional , kind And always presentable . Came to work out with my teen son. I was immediately told that he wasn’t allowed to stay at the waiting area, that I understand but I had seen other teens at this location. There is a way to say things, like you care the membership. I understand rules, but the way those are expressed is important.
What a difference would it have been to say things on a different manner. Tori lacks of this ability! I came back to cancel my membership, and she didn’t even care or tried anything. One less number, who cares.
Maybe that’s why she’s hired, to protect only Gold’s Gym interests. Except that, no members, no jobs.
She doesn’t have to apologize, as she said, “I’m in charge here” .
But she does have to learn to use her words.

Decent variety of machines and equipment. Everything is kept pretty clean. Class selection is good too. My only complaint is that they shut the pool down, but I understand that was a corporate level decision and the staff didn’t really have any control over that. I’ve been training with Jose for a couple months and he has been really great. Super fun and motivating, while having to get creative with exercises due to my medical limitations.

Julian is the best! All of the staff are wonderful, and they are taking COVID seriously. They are always friendly, and have great equipment and special events frequently. I love this gym. I think its the best Gold's in the area. It has a good balance of free weights, weight machines, and cardio machines. It has everything I want. There are 6 places to squat including 2 Olympic lifting pads, 2 standard squat racks, and 2 racks at a PRX stand, plus a smith machine and other squat machines. I've never been able to use the excuse of it being too busy to squat. There are also 8 places to do different types of bench press. This gym somehow feels smaller and more homey than some of the other Gold's, but also has more equipment.
I recently started working with a trainer. I've been lifting on my own for close to 10 years, and I've been kind of picky looking for a trainer that feels like a good fit for me. The GM, Jacob, has been really great helping me find the right trainer to help me meet my goals.

This is definitely my go-to gym in San Antonio. The newest general manager (Scott) has done a fantastic job creating a humble, helpful and professional environment. The locker rooms are always clean, stocked and free of that usual mold smell most gyms have. Not to mention, the fridge is always loaded with your pre and post workout drinks. Whether you're new to fitness or returning from a break, trust me when I say this is THE gym to come to!

I filed complaint with BBB. Also, spoke to main manager at Golds Gym at Tezel with no help, plus no headquarters or customer service line to call. They extended our annual membership by 3 months without our consent, It was because of COVID in Spring 2020. Understandable. But since it was extended by 3 months, I had to cancel in March 2021 instead of Jan 2021. They charged me again for annual fee in March 2021 ($54), meaning I paid two annual fees for only one year of membership. They will not refund the fee. I really liked this gym too, but I need the kid's club open since I am a single father, 24/7 have my daughter, so I can not go to the gym. I was a member since Spectrum owned the location, joined probably back in 2010. Wish they would have been a little more compassionate to the situation they put us in without consent. Didn't charge us for three months but extended. I figure income is down for Gold's and they are trying to keep any money they can. The problem is what happens when everything is back to normal, due to the situation they created, they just lost members in long run. I would have joined again after the Kid's Club opens but the handling of the situation has changed my mind about this location.

I actually enjoyed my time here. Most gyms make me uncomfortable, and I just walk out. I never felt too self-conscious here. I’m glad that they have a women’s only area, encouraging trainers, and plenty of room to stretch. They always have fans on, so there’s no foul odor. The locker rooms are also nice, and they are always clean. For a starting membership, I would recommend this location. I’m glad I joined and went to the gym at this location.

I was going to this gym for a few years before I switched to Anytime Fitness near by. I used to love golds gym until one day I went into the gym and overheard a trainer talking to the front desk guy about me. He said: “she’s never going to lose that fat A** of hers.” Then they both erupted in laughter. My confidence was shot and I stopped going for months until I finally just cancelled the membership. I have never felt more degraded for working out at a gym, than I did at this gym.

Seems very easy to get the machines you need (TONS of cardio equipment is availalbe), and thers a large selection of free weights. Overall a good Gold's location.
