My favorite gym ever! The space is welcoming, the vibe is high, and the coaches are amazing (big shout out to Paymahn!). They care about your form, your progress, and your whole experience. Every workout feels intentional and challenging in the best way, and I always leave feeling stronger, supported, and proud of myself.

The community Pattie and Amalia have cultivated is something special. People are kind, encouraging, and genuinely happy to see each other succeed. I’ve never felt more motivated, more seen, or more at home in a gym.

I can’t recommend this place enough. If you want a gym that feels like community, accountability, and strength all in one, this is it.

Im not good with gyms, i dont like a lot of things about them. Somehow GrassIron has completely won me over. Its never too loud, its never obnoxious and having a personal trainer and my workout plan managed for me , its stress free ! The staff are friendly , knowledgeable and it’s nice to see a lot more women in the gym 💪🏻

After I received an osteopenia diagnosis a couple of years ago, a friend recommended Grassiron Gym. My husband and I were already exercising regularly and using dumbbells in fitness classes but had never lifted heavy weights. We wanted to learn proper weightlifting form, so we wouldn't injure ourselves.

We signed up for personal training twice a week with Paymahn and Erica (wonderful trainers!), and we have both become much stronger and more functionally fit. Each month, Paymahn creates two new workouts to challenge us. I like that the Grassiron trainers do small group training (up to three clients at the same time). You get just the right amount of instruction and attention to your form without anyone hovering over you. The other trainers are also great--we have enjoyed sessions with Brad, Alex, Sean, and Melanie.

We are really pleased with the results. We can keep up with our adult children when hiking and have no problem carrying heavy suitcases up stairs when traveling. My husband has reversed his muscle loss and looks fantastic. We've noticed that some nagging pains with our knees and hips have disappeared.

The gym is so clean and welcoming. We have seen people of all ages training from teens to a 90 year old. Grassiron also offers larger group classes. If you are interested in weight training, you can't find a better gym than Grassiron!

Update - Because of life, I haven't had a session for a while. But, after 2 years, I went from 225ish to 178. I could not have done this without GrassIrons' trainers. I went from 2XL to M-L shirts and dropped 2 pants sizes.
------
I have officially been here a year. For me, that's unheard of as I don't do any type of workout for a year because I either a) don't feel comfortable or b) I don't see results.

So, am I seeing results on the scale? Not drastically - but muscle weighs more than fat. Where do I see the results? In my pants size, bra size, and overall clothing size. Clothes that I haven't been able to wear for a few years are fitting again. I can walk to my car carrying my backpack without breathing heavy. I can take a flight of stairs without being winded. I can sit on the floor and get back up without looking like an overturned turtle.

This gym beats other gyms and personal trainers because they give you a new program every 6 weeks. You are given a set of workouts, and for 6 weeks, you do those workouts. You can start an exercise with a 5 lb weight doing 6 reps, and at the end of 6 weeks, you could be at 10 lbs and 10 reps. You have a written record of your progression. After 6 weeks, you get a new set of exercises. This way, you don't get bored, and all of your muscles will get a workout.

All the trainers rock. There isn't anyone that makes me feel uncomfortable. Being a woman, that's important to me. If you keep with a regular schedule, you'll see the same people working out week after week. We encourage each other and, after the isolation of covid, it feels good.

By far, it is the best workout experience that I've ever had.

I’ve been coming to GrassIron for a few years now and I cannot recommend them more. Thoughtful training, fun and caring people, and the satisfaction of getting strong. Nothing like looking back at your first days and realizing that what felt heavy then now feels feather light. Love it here!

Grassiron is pretty much the best gym ever. The owners, Amalia and Pattie, offer the perfect mix of expertise and professionalism in the most inclusive and welcoming fitness environment I’ve ever experienced. It’s clean and inviting, there are no mirrors, and regulars quickly get to know each other. All of the trainers are friendly and knowledgeable and members can get fitter and stronger without ever feeling self conscious. I’ve been coming here consistently for 2.5 years and it has changed my life in more ways than I imagined possible. Highly recommend!!

My experience with GrassIron was relatively short, I think it was about 3-4 months overall back in the summer of 2019. It started with the group powerlifting classes and I did 12 weeks of personal training. 4 years have passed and I haven't gone back since. That being said, I often look back at it fondly. My workout sheets still have the same format today. That experience changed my health and fitness life. I am incredibly grateful for Pattie and Amalia's team helping me tie nutrition, fitness and technique together. What I learned at GrassIron is foundation that has helped me to live strong holistically ever since.

For anyone looking to level up their strength no matter the starting point (beginner, part-time fitness enthusiast, or seasoned athlete), consider this gym. There are many benefits for me including: it's by appointment only, no crowded gym spaces; it's an unpretentious space; it's personal training only, which has been necessary for me given my limited experience weight lifting; and it has excellent trainers.

My personal trainer, Melanie Denton worked with me last year to build power and strength to help me reach my goal of Cap10K Queen of the Hill, which I achieved! She builds my programs to both challenge and interest me. The only downside is that it's a 30 minute commute for me, but the drive is worth the reward.

If you have a fitness goal, even if it's to do something other than sit once a week, I highly recommend GrassIron Fitness!

"If you want to go fast, you go alone. If you want to go far, you go together" - unknown. I used to go fast when I lifted weights in my 20s. Now as a father of two in my 40s, I was looking to go far. I therefore contacted this gym and it was the best thing that I ever did for myself. They responded immediately, developed a customized plan that worked for me, and got me started again. I have started and stopped workouts many times over the past 20 yrs but nothing stuck, until now. GrassIron developed a personalized program with goals and consistency allowing weightlifting to become a part of my lifestyle rather than just something that I do. In a short few months I am already lifting what I was when I was in my 20s. The best part is that I am only getting started! I am forever grateful to the GrassIron Fitness and highly recommend this place to anyone looking to make fitness a part of their lifestyle regardless of where in their life's journey they are starting out.

I feel like I’ve tried it all before but I have finally found the place for me. Here’s why:

I feel like this gym actually heard me when expressed my interests, concerns, and even frustrations with the many times I’ve tried to get back into strength training in the past.

I truly felt like this gym met me where I was. I have 3 different back injuries and most gyms try to up-sell you into some intense package that you can’t get out of. This place isn’t like that.

There are no walk-in free style workouts. Your worth a every time you come in. They may be working with 2 other people but they’re monitoring your form and keeping you on track and motivated.

I really appreciate how they check in before, during, and after each workout and if something doesn’t feel right, they are quick to offer suitable alternatives.

I've been going to Grassiron 3x a week for about 5 years, primarily for weight training. They are absolutely fantastic. You'll find all sorts of people here—all ages, all sizes, all abilities—from competitive lifters to 75-year-olds wanting to improve their balance and strength. The entire team of trainers puts a focus on form and safety, and they write your program geared toward your specific goals. (When I had a hip issue, they spoke directly with my chiropractor and developed a program based on her recommendations.) I personally hate exercise and am utterly uncoordinated, so it is no less than a miracle that any gym is a regular part of my routine. It is a testament to the owners, Pattie and Amalia, their team, their training philosophy, and the community of friends I've made at this unique gym. There are no mirrors, no judgment, and no snark. Cannot recommend more highly.

I can't say enough good things about this gym or the trainers that work there. I got a consultation with Marguerite feeling quite anxious, as I have very little gym experience and was timid about changing my life up to be more active. Marguerite was more than understanding and made me feel comfortable from the get go. Letting me know that GrassIron was there for me and this feeling of nervousness wasn't unusual. My main goals were to gain weight/muscle, increase my mental health since stopping meds, and just get the overall strength/body I've always wanted. Since starting out, I have already gained 7 pounds, feel stronger than I ever have, and have more confidence and less anxiety on a daily basis. I plan to continue the program and look forward to seeing the long-term results. I have worked with Erin, David, and Melanie individually and EACH ONE of them have given me the push I've needed, while also verbally rooting me on in the process. Such a great atmosphere. Thanks guys!

I have been training with Amalia for the best 3 months. Any other gym I would of already given up. I have fibromyalgia and severe back pain for a car accident. Amalia is so amazing and gentle. She started me off slowly never pushing me beyond what I could handle. She texts me to check in on how I'm feeling. This gym gives me the personal attention I really need. I love that it is a family and now judges you while you are there. Amalia gives me a lot of encouragement. Her attention to detail is fantastic. Even if I think she isn't paying attention to me I can hear her say, "great job Jill" from across the room. I love that! I'm so grateful for her patience with me. I can feel and see myself getting stronger and changing. If you need personal attention because your scared of big gyms or have an injury, this is the place for you!! xo

I've been taking the Cardio-Strong Class with Marguerite Beckingham three times a week for almost a full year now. I've lost 15 pounds and 5+ inches off my waist and hips. My abdominal muscles are stronger, I've got far better muscle tone in my arms and legs and I recently ran (and finished!) a 5K!

I was intimidated by other gyms where I didn't feel welcome with my lack of experience and couch potato attitude. Marguerite changed all that. She has a warm, supportive teaching style, encouraging and making me want to work harder and smarter every time we meet. All the GrassIron trainers are that way. The whole place is energetic, inspiring AND fun. And I never thought I would write that about a gym. :)

I've been coming to GrassIron regularly since November 2011. The sense of community here is off the charts. They maintain a very positive and supportive atmosphere where you feel _motivated_ to perform - never _pressured_ to perform. Smiling faces of ALL ages, light-hearted conversations, sweat, hard-work, all under the same roof. A place where Olympic weightlifters and fitness beginners can co-exist. I've never felt intimidated here - only INSPIRED!

Everybody here is getting STRONGER. Everybody's having a good time. This is simply not something you will see anywhere else.

It takes something special to keep me coming back. GrassIron is, without a doubt, something special.
