I have had an amazing experience with Grit Running center. Chris has been extremely helpful in customizing a training plan for my first marathon. He was able to tailor it specifically to my needs and adapted when I was injured/sick during the grueling summer training block. He was easy to reach when I had any sort of question. He has a calm demeanor and a 'lead by example' attitude that inspires his athletes. The running center is very motivational with mood lighting and good music!
Looking forward to more training sessions as I set new goals!

The place is amazing! I did 1:1 sessions and I can really feel the difference in my shape and pace, it was a great experience. I would recommend it 100% if you are looking to improve your overall running, all the feedback they gave me helped me feel light and smooth.

Highly recommend Grit Running Center. Chris and Z really went above and beyond in ensuring my 13 year old had the optimal plan for off-season training - their technical, detailed, and motivating approach was perfect. Her training with Grit has really paid dividends as we can see in her cross-country season this year, and her confidence as a runner is definitely higher!

When I first walked into GRIT, I just wanted to fix my running form for a workout competition. A few sessions with Chris and Z later, I was training for a marathon. That’s the kind of impact this place has. Chris is incredibly intentional—he listens, challenges you, and somehow sees your potential before you can. I came in hating running, and now it’s become a big part of my life. GRIT is truly something special.

I can’t say enough good things about GRIT Running Center!! Chris helped me go from a casual runner to completing my first marathon feeling strong and confident. Every treadmill workout was purposeful and the guidance I received made all the difference. GRIT truly lives up to its name, it’s where determination meets results!

I received help with my running form after dealing with Achilles issues for the longest! (Achilles bursitis) I have been able to gradually increase my mileage and training intensity with the instruction and advice given on running form, mobility exercises, stretching and more. Kip and Coach Chris have been extremely helpful and are always there to answer your questions. There are group and one on one sessions available as well. Highly recommend this facility!

I’ve been coming to Grit for a few weeks and can’t recommend it enough! Chris and Zaira are so fun to train with and I always look forward to my classes. I am not a naturally gifted runner but I take it quite seriously, and Chris has already helped me so much with my form and training advice. Prior to this I have never run on a treadmill, much preferring to run outside. The Houston weather is sometimes too much for me though, and having a spot indoors with AC and a customized workout has been really helpful. And the treadmills are really comfortable and top of the line!

I have been enjoying GRIT for 2 or so months since I signed on for coaching. I have been more of a runner in the past but wanted to get running and marathon ready again. The coaching is individually designed to meet me where I am and then build challenge from there. I cannot sing Coach Chris’s praises enough for his help with form and breath and pacing and distances. I usually jump back into running harder but always end up injured. I wholly believe Coach Chris’s expertise has spared me injury this time. My cardiovascular fitness is improving and the joints feel great. Thanks to the whole GRIT team!

As a returning runner with little prior coaching, training with Chris and the team at Grit has been a game-changer. Their guidance and mentorship have been invaluable, helping me not only improve but also find running therapeutic and enjoyable. My biggest breakthrough has been overcoming the feeling that I was incapable of running. Now, I’m excited to continue training and working toward my goal of running another half marathon. Highly recommend Grit for anyone looking to grow as a runner! I’m excited to continue under their coaching!

I stumbled upon GRIT about a month ago as I'm gearing up for my first marathon. I'm a semi-experienced "casual" runner but wanted to ensure my form was dialed in as I started upping the mileage for marathon training. Chris invited me to visit for a 1:1 session immediately after I reached out to them and within 5 minutes I knew that this is where I needed to be. I received very helpful form adjustments and after talking to Chris about the benefits of personal programming decided to sign up for GRIT's Kenyan Green membership which includes weekly class time at GRIT and personalized programming outside of class.

(It's important to note, if you've never used one, the Woodway treadmills they use at GRIT are the best ones on the market, simulating road feel and lessening the impact on your body. If you loathe treadmills, but haven't tried a Woodway, it's completely different.)

There are plenty of running training programs available online and you can hire coaches who program for you remotely but working with someone who can watch you run, adapt your workouts real time and then apply that knowledge to your weekly programming - this is a powerful combination that can't be beat in my opinion. We call it "the lab."

The weather in Houston can also be a challenge with running, of course - it's hard to push pace in 90 degree heat with 50% humidity (on a good day, lol) so having GRIT as an indoor option to supplement your training is fantastic. Chris is also an elite runner himself so receiving coaching from someone with race times to back it all up is pretty special - but he's also genuinely the nicest guy so whatever shape you're in and goals you have - he'll help you get there. I text him all the time and you can just tell that he lives and breathes this stuff.

I think GRIT really shines if you want to take advantage of everything they have to offer (and I think their complete membership is a fantastic value considering the quality), but I'll also add that I've been dabbling in boutique fitness for years and the GRIT class experience and studio are as nice as anything else out there - it's genuinely fun with great music and lighting to match so even if you aren't trying to run marathons but just like to push yourself, I would definitely check it out.

TL;DR - can't recommend GRIT enough!

Over the past few months at GRIT Running Center, I’ve experienced more than just improvements in my form and pace. GRIT isn’t just about running; it’s about building mental toughness, endurance, discipline, and strength within a supportive community. Each workout is designed with the individual athlete in mind, making it a perfect fit whether you're new to running, curious about starting, or a seasoned marathoner.

What sets GRIT apart is its unique focus on the human element—it's not a boot camp; it's a place where you grow your skills in an environment that nurtures you as a person first, and a runner second. The leadership, experience, and coaching here lay the foundation to push you beyond your comfort zone, enabling you to reach milestones that once seemed like dreams.

Chris, the coach, is not just an elite athlete but also an outstanding mentor who truly understands the journey. His guidance, combined with the camaraderie of the community, has been invaluable in helping me—and many others—unlock our full potential. Honestly, there’s no place else I’d rather be.

If you're ready to take your running to the next level, or even just curious to see what you’re capable of, GRIT Running Center is the place for you. Come discover how far you can go when you’re supported every step of the way.

I've been training at GRIT for the past few months, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Like most runners, I dislike treadmill running but the Woodway at GRIT has transformed my running experience.

Coach Chris is top-notch—he is incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. He takes the time to assess your individual needs and tailor the training to fit your fitness level and goals. Under his guidance, my running form has improved and reduced my risk of injury.

The endurance programs are well-structured and progressively challenging. Chris is always available for feedback, adjusting to keep you on track.

If you're serious about improving your running, whether you're a newbie or a seasoned runner, GRIT is the place to be. The combination of expert coaching, and a supportive environment makes this studio stand out.

Highly recommend!!

Grit Running Center is such an awesome and unique place! It’s really cool that the classes are taught by an accomplished runner and so the movements are tailored to people who want to improve their running. My friends and I did the elephant class and we got a lot of great ideas for exercises to keep our running form strong. Even if you’re a beginner to running, Coach Chris does a great job of explaining everything so it’s not intimidating. We will be back for sure!!

I am so happy to have found Grit Running Center and to have the incredible coaching from Chris during my sessions. Chris is passionate and gives me the added push, confidence and direction to make my form better and increase my speed. I have never enjoyed treadmill running until I began coming here, but I love this space and incorporated it into my weekly training. The space is perfect as it feels intimate, but it still has the communal aspect which I love about the running community.

Let me preface this review by saying I passionately hate the treadmill. Grit Running Center is a gym full of them so when I first went I was very skeptical. I was so wrong! The classes are a lot of fun and you get a great workout! Chris is an excellent instructor who loves the sport of distance running and I’ve learned a lot from him. Would totally recommend checking it out to all levels of runners. A++++

Amazing run here! The treadmills are Woodward and the classes are the perfect size for more 1:1 feedback. This is my go to spot for a 5k, Half or Full Marathon training. Chris and Zaira were incredibly welcoming.

Absolutely love this studio for many reasons. One is that if you are living in Houston, you know the weather and the challenges of training outdoors. It is also flat so if you're looking to hit race pace and/or hills, this is the way to do it! The current setup is ideal because it allows the coaches to give you specific feedback on your running form so that you can improve. The coaches are very observant (take notes on your individual goals) and helpful during the classes and meet you where you are while also pushing you to reach your potential. 10/10 recommend.
