Amanda is so sweet! Very friendly and welcoming, that is so important in these establishments, it can be intimidating for anyone who is starting their fitness journey so the fact that Amanda is beyond sweet and welcoming makes the experience at HOT WORX THAT MUCH BETTER. Hotworx Live Oak is amazing. The staff is the best always greeting you with a smile and very encouraging, especially Amy. Been a member since day 1 and can truly say this is the best investment I’ve done for myself. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They have free weights, cable machine, a TRX area, 8 saunas, but my favorite, they are open 24 hours. I’ve been able to workout on holidays, at 1 am, and days I wanted to but all other gyms are closed.

I love the location. Miss Amy, Miss Olivia, and Miss Barbie are all so sweet and encouraging. It's my favorite way to relax after a tough day. As a nurse for over 30 years, this is the perfect no impact, flexibility, and stretching I need to keep the back pain away. I love the sweat and more workout in less time! I wish I'd found this year's ago.

Been here since it opened and becoming increasingly frustrated that broken equipment/rooms do not get fixed. I don't blame Hotworx, I blame the franchise owner. Plus I can't switch locations without paying new sign-up fees. Very disappointing

I bought the membership and sweat mat, that will run you just over $200 just to get started.
I work nights, so I am always awake overnight and I need 24 hour access. This was a huge selling point for me.
I downloaded all the technology to my phone, and paid close attention to the presentation.
I was told I would receive an email with an invitation to join “Brivo” but the email never came. I was given a door code… but upon scheduling my first 4 AM workout; the door code did not work.
I really enjoyed the workout in the heat… I really do not enjoy paying a large sum of money, being told by a business “we will provide this service.”
Then not having access to the service promised. I am going back to give them a chance to fix this, and I will be checking other locations to see if there is more convenience at the door and more reliable customer service.
I don’t want to judge the entire franchise based on the first night fail… but I am hyper caffeinated and ready for my workout, and Hotworx failed me tonight.
We will see how they respond?

Please do not give this location or any this franchiser’s locations your money (I think there are 5 locations under this owner, do not know her name but I think it starts with an N). They do not care about their clients.

So I was unable to pay my account due to the fact that I left an abusive relationship, was a full time student, and single mother to two children. I wasn’t using the services and the payment attempts stopped so I thought my membership was cancelled. Then one day I check my bank account and noticed Hotworx took out $236 from my account. I called this location and spoke with the manager Amy. I explained to her that I cannot afford this membership and taking the $236 is hurting me and my family as I have my bills to pay and education costs and children to care for. She said “well you can talk to the owner, but she’s just going to tell you no because you signed a contract.” I told her that I understand that a contract was signed but maybe if she heard me out she would understand and kindly refund me the $236. Amy continued to say things along the lines of: well she’s just gonna say no. This is a business and if we made decisions based on emotions then we wouldn’t make any money.

Amy crossed the line when she said “well this is part of being an adult”insinuating that I was lacking the understanding of how managing a household and bills work. This made me very angry and distressed, causing me to cry and act out of character.

Despite saying she could pass this information on to the owner, I’ve never heard anything back from them.

I waited a while to post this review because I wanted to have a clear head. But every time I think about how missing this $236 caused a downward spiral on the rest of my finances and the fact that they had no compassion towards my situation made me want to warn anyone else considering opening a membership with this location.

So many things could have been done to prevent this. They could communicate after the first missed payment and talk about options for cancellation instead of taking a lump sum months later when paying for hotworx is the last thing on my mind. Also, when I called, the right thing for Amy to do was either help me out and connect me with whoever can actually help me get my money back, instead of putting me down and making me feel worse about my already tough situation. People make mistakes and bills pile up, and every other company I have dealt with has been understanding and willing to work with me to discuss all my options. This location has proven that they are not willing to do that, based on the interaction I had with Amy and her horrible behavior.

Hotworx is not a community-friendly business and they have a terrible business model if they think that treating their clients this way is acceptable. Having good interactions with clients is the best way to gain more attention and attract more clients, but if Amy treats everyone this way, she will just be driving everyone away.

$236 has a much bigger impact on my life than it does for a business that takes money from people’s accounts every month. It is such a shame that they would treat anyone this way.

I have been going here for a little more than 3 months, and have also been able to visit 4 other locations in SA, so I can make an informative review.

First the main Pros:
* Super close to my home
* Large, spacious, with a clear layout
* All cubby spaces are deep (can fit full yoga mat)
* Very clean restrooms (and shower)
* Always have hand sanitizer in multiple areas
* Very nice TP (yes, a little thing, yet important ;-)

Main Cons:
* Something (like equipment or sauna) always broken
* Equipment needs better upkeep and cleaning
* More men disregarding the "must wear a shirt" rule
* Music is shut off after staffed hours (makes all the rooms seem like the virtual classes are extra loud).

This was the first Hotworx I've ever been to, and yes it is the largest thus far. I love the convenience to my neighborhood, and how the layout is 2 rows of saunas (one side Isometrics/ yoga-type classes, the other the machines, like rowing and cycling), with a big space down the middle. There is usually lots of parking available too.

However, ever since my first day, there always seems to be at least one machine broken (like a rowing machine), and other machines seem to need either oil or bolt-tightening (like being squeaky or hard to adjust the height). Even after telling management, things seem slow to be fixed.

I visited a nearby Hotworx when the "Hot Blast" room was closed (the sauna part broke), and found also that the rooms with machines don't have to smell! In this location, as soon as you open the "Hot Thunder" room, the smell of the machines hit you hard (the Hot Cycle and Blast smell slightly less)... but at this other location, they told me they thoroughly clean down the machines regularly so there is no smell!

Hotworx also has posted rules that all members need to wear a shirt (aimed at men that go shirtless around the gym). I have seen men almost every time disregard this rule at this location... even in front of staff, who don't seem to tell them anything! As a female, it does make me uncomfortable (no woman is going completely topless at the gym, after all; even a bra counts!). I mentioned it to a staff member, who said she would say something (even though a shirtless man passed right by her 10 minutes before, and she didn't seem to notice).

Also, after hours, there were a couple times I worried for my safety, as a woman going alone at night (I attribute part of this to the bar/grill restaurant on one side, and a liquor store on the other side). Once, when getting out of the sauna room, I noticed a young man hanging around outside. I worked out with the dumbbells, hoping he would leave, but he didn't. It was almost 11pm, so I woke my hubby to keep him on the phone in case anything happened when I left. This man in a hoodie told me that his code wasn't working and it was lucky that I was there so late... I didn't want to start any confrontation (I don't know if he had a weapon in his hoodie or not), so I just left.

The second time, I was at this location around 9:30pm, when a small group of loud frat guys (at least that type), came in, obviously intoxicated. They were egging each other on, while doing a HITT workout, but were so loud that 3 other women that were working out left while these guys were yelling. I got my phone and finished my session in the sauna, but told my hubby to stay awake just in case he had to come by. Luckily these guys left about a half hour later, but it was unnerving (because during staffed hours I am sure they would've been kicked out).

Overall, besides these 2 incidents, I like going to this gym. Never have I ever regularly went to a gym, and now I go almost daily. I do hope they continue to improve!

Enjoyed my workout. I find the sauna to be relaxing. The variety of workouts is good, too. May be a little pricey for some.
I went recently and noted that the virtual workouts have changed. The instructor is different and the exercises. I see that as a plus.

I have been dealing with billing issues for MONTHS now. I canceled my membership & was supposed to be refunded $63 for unnecessary charges. I was never refunded & was charged $54 AGAIN this month when my membership has been “canceled” since December!!! It has been a constant game of back & forth. Be careful with their billing system. It is NOT customer friendly at all

It's a tough workout for sure but I like being able to go whenever I want. You are given a code to unlock the door and you are able to go 24/7. The only issue I've noticed which isn't particularly an issue for me is that the rooms seem to not be super tall. I'd imagine someone around 6ft would struggle with some of the stretches as your hands will very likely be taller than the ceiling
