I have been to 4 other hotworx locations and this one was by far the worst I have been to. I understand that I came in sumday evening and that is not staffed hours but the place was dirty. The sauna glass was dirty, there was hair and dirt in the sauna I booked, it looked like the mat had never been moved and cleaned. There was no cleaning spray. The vending machine did not have a good selection of drinks and in the end I couldn't even get it to work anyways. I will not be stopping at this location again

I joined this location very recently and All I can say is WOW. From the staff to the workouts. I was a bit nervous trying It out because I don't know about you It can get pretty over stimulating trying something new and being over barred with info and memberships. I was able to get efficient quick run down my first time in. Shon was AMAZING he was (and always is) very welcoming and light hearted. He was also training Brooklyn at the time who is equally just as great and always greets you with a smile when she's in! My workout was so nice, the options to just book when ever through the pap works so well with my always changing schedule. Even the 15 min sessions really have to feeling accomplished afterward. When signing up Shon did such a good job not pressuring options but explaining things clearly and again making It very easy. He was very clear on cancellations and trial periods. I received a copy of everything before I walked out the door. and have It all in my email. If you're questioning even just giving them a shot I say do It NOW. You won't regret It ☺️

My experience with HOTWORX Richardson was extremely disappointing due to their lack of transparency regarding the cancellation policy. When signing up, I specifically requested a copy of the agreement but never received one until I attempted to cancel my membership. The cancellation policy was never mentioned during sign-up, and I was only shown the last screen of the agreement, which did not include this critical information.

Be aware that once you sign, you only have a 3-day window to cancel. After that, you are locked in for two months, with no right to cancel. If you choose to terminate, you must either provide a 60-day notice and continue paying for two months or pay a $99 + tax cancellation fee.

Despite stating that I do not agree with these terms, my credit card was charged $99 + tax the day after I requested cancellation—without my authorization. This practice is misleading and unfair. I urge anyone considering this gym to carefully review all terms in advance and ensure they receive a copy of the full agreement before signing.

It's a really mixed review, the main positive is that I do believe that hot workout and infra red sauna is very good for you and I tend to feel really good afterwards. Some people on the staff are nice and welcoming.
There are quite a few negatives:
- the cost to join is very high because you have fees to join plus you have to buy their mandatory towel and mat and they are not cheap.
- After my first and free class, I received an "incredible limited offer" email for 50% off... I came to sign up of course. Should have read the details - I guessed it said somewhere in the email that it was 50% the sign up cost... :(maybe I was wishful thinking, or maybe the "50% off" was the main highlight, and "sign up fee" the very lowlight.
- they say that you have to stay for a minimum of three months so that you can see for yourself the results... it should not need to be that way, but ok. It happens so, that I only go about once a week, so $60 per month is too much for me. I waited for my 3 months to be finished to come by and cancel. That's when I was told that I had a 2-months notice to give (!!) + cant stop in the middle of the month so that another 2.5 mandatory months right there (she said that I could have given notice during my starting 3 months, but clearly that was not explained to me this way). Or you can pay $100 to cancel right now (and I already paid for the whole month no pro-rating). Not ok.
- Honestly I'm disappointed by the way the place is managed:
a. there are no place to change. You come here to sweat, right? Well you need to go back home all sweaty in your car...
b. I've read comments saying that it is clean, it probably very much depend on what time you come - because it is 24/7 and the staff is not always present. I've seen the restrooms VERY dirty.
c. not all the sauna heaters work - the last sauna I used had between 1/3 to 1/2 of the heaters not working.
There is quite some deferred maintenance overall.
d. The saunas are feeling very tight space for me who is medium size girl. I told my husband he would not like it at all... way too small for him.
e. my app never worked right. They say the monthly price goes down if you come often. About half the times, I cant login my workout. It says "training already in session" whatever the moment at which I try to check in on the app. I tried to talk to the staff about it, they told me to do it right before the start of the session - which I did... still not working.
f. It's quite annoying to have to listen to an advertisement for their products at every single workout.
g. The lady who took my cancellation was rather cross. I told her that I was not happy to have to pay for another 2.5 months after having waited the 3 required months. She basically said "that's in the agreement", agreement which of course nobody ever reads or you would have to take a copy home to study it before signing up - and I do recommend to do so! I said I would not give them good reviews at that point, she did not seem to care.
CONCLUSION: great concept really, but poor execution
**** Giving this place an extra star for kindly answering my review. I'm still upset though. The staff certainly did not go *thoroughly* through all conditions at sign up, and it is quite obvious that we expect a store like this to have more or less the same conditions as the rest of the industry... also they request for 2 methods of payment on file... another policy that differs with the rest of the industry...

Employees are great at first. Workout is also good if you can maintain a rhythm. If you need to cancel, that's a problem. You need to go in person to sign and there is a fee that was never mentioned. Reading the contract is essential, as I learned not to trust what was said. Problems only appear when you need to cancel, which is why I don't recommend it.

I actually really liked Hotworx in general, and the staff at the Richardson branch is AMAZING. However, there are a few things I didn't love.

Pros - workouts are great, lots of fun, and diverse. You can get a great quick workout in.

Cons - the workouts are very one note and unless you are super creative with dumbbells and TRX straps, this will not be a great place to lift weights. I loved the sauna workouts, but wanted the ability for more. Also, there was a $99 cancellation fee that isn't Richardson Hotworx's fault, but it doesn't make me want to come back or recommend the gym to other folks.

I tried out HOTWORX while on a business trip to Florida and had a fantastic experience. I was excited to learn that there was a location near me and contacted them to sign up. The General Manager, Shon, promptly reached out to me and was incredibly friendly and super personable. He listened to my needs and quickly arranged an appointment to get me signed up. Leena and Ava assisted me throughout the sign-up process and were incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. They provided me with comprehensive information about HOTWORX membership and informed me about the current promotions. The facility is always kept clean, and I love how the music at the front changes every day, allowing you to experience a variety of genres. Every member I have encountered has reciprocated my acknowledgement, smiled, and welcomed me. I have truly appreciated starting my mornings at this location.

so I am like 11 months in here. Although a couple of months in the only room I use outside of weights has had functional issues and I have brought it up to staff several times. “It’s already been brought to management” was the responses.. but here we are today 1 bike by the sounds of it needs to be entirely replaced. The main complaint from me is the makeshift cycling seats that look nearly broken off after a work out and are seriously uncomfortable. Mainly to one side because of the way they do not stay where you adjust them to, the lever won’t even stay tight. When I first started and they had the correct seats versus these ones it was amazing. I was hesitant to sign up not knowing if I would like it, but honestly I love it here. After just two months I’ve grown stronger and healthier. Not to mention my skin feels amazing from all the detoxifying properties of the sauna! I love the flexibility of being able to workout any time day or night. And as an introvert, being able to guarantee my own private sauna for my sessions makes me want to come workout even more.

I’m typically a CrossFit / gym person but wanted something new and different then my usual routine. Spice it up! Mother of 2 and run my own business I do not have time to dedicate extra hours at the gym like I used to. So the idea of a 15 min cardio blast, doubled with a sauna infrared? What more could I ask for. The amount of sweat I get in one hot cycle I would get in a hour CrossFit class. And bonus for me is they also have a free weight section. So after my 15 min session followed by a quick lifting session Im am done in an hour and walk out feeling like a million bucks in half the time. I’ve been here a little over a month and it has been such a fun way to burn off calories (and steam!). The classes are private and quick am with the ability to go 24/7 it’s impossible to validate am excuse to miss. I’ve found myself with more energy and an extra bounce in my step since joining. I joined Hotworx in January 2023. I had an opportunity mid August to start going daily without distraction and without having to worry about my forever-long to do list. I struggle with anxiety and having Hotworx in daily routine has reduced a big chunk of that anxiety for me. I love to go get a really sweaty work out in and on occasion I go to have a safe space to sit alone with my thoughts, either way, I leave feeling peaceful. I adore the staff and manager, Shon. I paid $215 in cash for 3 months + 1 mat. But 20 days later, less than 1 month later, $63 was deducted from my card. In this case, the important thing is not the money but the fact that they deceive people in this way. I was already going to Club Plates, where I paid $159 per month. The only reason I came here was to relax in the sauna. I will cancel my membership this week, let's see how many thousand dollars they will ask for. Also, my friends who live in Wylie were going to register to Richardson just for me. The same woman told them that if you register to Richardson, not Wylie, they will give you the 2nd month free. By the way, when I was registering, the woman there told me that 1 mat was $99, and today my husband called and said the price of the mat was $49. She also gave me a discount. So funny. The fact that I was scheduled for 10am session for my VERY 1st session and thinking NO ONE is available when arrived was one thing. I called several times as suggested to do once I arrived. NO answer. Then to have someone walk by the door and look at me was something else. Gave me bad vibes instantly. I stood there for a minute thinking someone or maybe even she would come back. NO! If I had read the reviews on the rudeness, I wouldn't have been surprised, but I would like to think this doesn't represent the company as a whole. My dear friend really enjoys it. It’s been such a stress reliever to have a private workout in the very clean saunas and after 2 weeks I’ve already seen improvement in my blood oxygen levels! During the night, my apple watch previously recorded 90%-93%, but since I’ve been working out at HOTWORX, it’s been consistently 98%-100%!! I can’t wait to see other changes. I initially got my membership with HALEY BURKE back in March. It took over a week after paying to get them to figure out how to log me into the mobile app. I called in May to have the membership canceled. Haley said she would send an email confirming my cancellation and of course she didn’t. I’ve never even been able to log in to set an appointment. I’m still paying for this membership. I liked the Abrams location but this one is the worst. I asked for a refund for THEIR NEGLIGENCE and of course - I was told NO.

I have been doing Hotworx classes for two months! I have a visible difference in my body. I love the variety of classes and the changes I have seen. I get excited for my next session and have brought many friends to try the experience with me. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Love Hotworx and so glad I tried it!

Disappointed with this location. I've been with Hotworx before and never had a problem. At this place it was hard to get a booking because most slots are taken and the phone tends to go to voice-mail when I call in. During the times I went in a machine was almost always down in the HotWorx Blast or Cycle.

Also I found out recently that I was pregnant and had reached out to cancel my membership. After seeing I was still charged for the month of May, I reached back out and they then told me I needed proof of Pregnancy and proof that I reached out. I sent in my sonogram but I didn't have proof of my unanswered phone call from a month before or my submission on their contact us website. They canceled the membership but won't refund me for the month of May that I won't even be using. Little frustrating. Hoping this review will help you when deciding if this location is right for you.

Would have never seen myself doing an infrared workout but boy am I glad I joined! This place is so CLEAN and it puts other boutique facilities to shame. Haley, the GM, is amazing! She is so very helpful and always has fun incentives for the members. Kudos to this location!

Love love LOVE this place!! It’s been years that I’ve been searching for somewhere that I felt comfortable working out, that had schedules that were as flexible as I needed them to be as a working mother, and had a variety of workouts that kept me interested and coming back for more. HOTWORX has met all of those expectations, and more! Looking forward to years to come here, and so thankful to have finally found a workout routine and place that I truly look forward to coming to!

I joined Hotworx prior to their grand opening as an experiment. This was the best decision I have made since moving to Texas in 2019. The virtual instruction and entire operation is first class. The infrared sauna and various exercise classes is better than advertised, and this is coming from an overweight usually inconsistent join the gym guy. The progress and gains, along with encouraging and friendly staff like Whitney and Mac make for a great workout environment and a source of constant encouragement.

I have constantly been working out at Hotworx for about a month and a half. Since starting, I have increased my strength, gained some muscle and torched 1000’s of calories. I love the staff, the hot saunas, the work outs, the amount that I sweat during workouts and how good I feel after. I like how small the saunas are and how you can choose to workout with other people or just simply have a session by yourself. They also keep it fun and mildly competitive by having different “competitions”, games, and raffles.
