I'll be honest, I was hesitant at first. But after a few free sessions, I could feel the difference in my body. The sauna and infrared feels good but you definitely need to hydrate in order to make it through the sessions. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only con is you have to buy their yoga mat and towel which is a little pricey. Other than that, I love it! Do yourself a favor and try it out.

This was my first time visiting the HOTWORX location at Alamo Ranch, and I was beyond impressed from the moment I walked in. The staff was incredibly welcoming, kind, and eager to help—which made a huge difference since I had a few questions about the different sessions they offer. They took the time to walk me through the options and really made me feel comfortable and confident in getting started. I have to say, out of all the HOTWORX locations I’ve been to, this one is by far the cleanest and most well-maintained. Every area was spotless, the saunas were pristine, and everything just felt fresh and cared for. You can tell the team here takes pride in the space, and it shows. A special shoutout to Carlee, who went above and beyond to help me out. She was incredibly knowledgeable, answered all my questions with patience, and even gave some great tips and advice that made my first workout even better. Her energy and professionalism really stood out. If you're thinking about trying HOTWORX or looking for a new location, I can't recommend the Alamo Ranch studio enough. I have to say, I'm a HUGE hotworx fan. Hotworx has helped me lose 40 lbs and I'm in the best shape of my life (frequent compliments on my biceps, all thanks to the rowing!!). However, I visited this location and I was highly disappointed. The rowers (only two?) were both in rough condition (creaked and cracked while rowing). I was afraid both were going to break on me (cause I tried both). I mentioned it to the staff and was met with a brush off attitude, and told- oh, they probably just need more water. Then, when leaving, the staff asked me if I knew if something spilled in the sauna I had just left. I said no, I just sweat a lot. To which I was told well, we had to shut the sauna down to clean it. I felt like at this location I was transported back to highschool where kids were unkind. It was such a a sour experience I am not sure I'll return to this location. The staff at the potranco location are amazing and highly supportive. Never once have I been made to feel uncomfortable and I have been a member for over a year, visiting daily for 1-2 hrs. This Alamo Ranch location is super convenient for me now, and I'm hoping this review will help them reassess what they are currently offering. Hotworx is an amazing franchise but it relies heavily on equipment maintenance and great staff, both of which could use a little work at this location.

Awesome location! I strength train 4–5 times a week, and it’s always been tough to get in a good cardio session at a regular gym with the AC blasting. Doing cardio in the sauna here is a total game changer—it’s challenging, fun, and I always leave feeling accomplished. Highly recommend!

I love this place. I have tried to workout at other gyms and this place is the only place where I have been consistently. I love how you earn the burn, literally. The calories burned are “points” and they can redeemed on merchandise throughout the store. It definitely pushes me to workout more as well. The girls who are there are so sweet as well! I’m obsessed! This is precisely what I’ve been looking for. The virtual trainer guides you through each workout; the videos differ for every session. Whether you want a quick 15-minute HIT workout or prefer to stack them for a more extended session, it works perfectly. You can also do a 45-minute ISO session that will kick your butt! I have enjoyed doing a hit session, and then I saw back-to-back. I previously joined another gym and paid for a trainer to show me what to do, but the trainer was only available once a week. That wasn’t enough for consistency or results. When I worked out on my own, I felt lost.

The infrared sauna makes you sweat, but it’s easy to breathe in. I joined five days ago and have been there four times because I can come anytime. My sleep has been excellent! The staff is friendly and upbeat, and the facility is clean.

Do NOT - I repeat do NOT join this fitness center!Each room is pre-recorded videos that seem to go on for months before they are updated or changed. Also, their terms for cancellation are wildly unreasonable. I’d been a member for a couple years but froze my account while pregnant (still got charged a monthly fee after asking for my account to be frozen albeit a smaller fee) but when I decided to cancel my membership after having my account frozen, they decided to charge me for an additional 60days as a full priced customer before I could quit. When I decided to freeze my account, nothing was ever mentioned that if I decided to cancel after freezing they would charge me 2 full months as a full time active member instead of honoring the reduced freezing fee. They will try to extract every cent out of you they can. If you have an issue, as I did in this case, they are impossible to reach and uncooperative and not understanding. If you try to reach out to headquarters it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone as each number I have found online leads to a voicemail which then terminates the call.

Managers of other stores in the area have stated that the owner of this particular studio is rude and uncooperative (Christina). After my experience I would have to say I wholeheartedly agree. Nothing was done to help me in this process and any attempt to speak to anyone was met with roadblocks. They have an app which is always glitching throughout my entire time as a customer and a website that is impossible to navigate which they offer as a solution to cancel memberships but it is not in any way shape or form user friendly - even staff did not know how to navigate it. I would highly recommend AGAINST using this workout platform anywhere but even more so for this particular store. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and will be contacting the fair trade commission to shed light on their predatory billing policies.

We have the all access/everywhere membership and we're visiting SA. Staff was unprofessional and rude, made us sign in as guests (we're MEMBERS and have MEMBERSHIPS), then asked us a series of questions and making us late for our session. I am livid, this is the worst studio EVER!!! I have been apart of golds gym, anytime, orange theory, you name it. This has by far been the biggest headache!!! I saw someone say that getting out of this membership is harder than getting out of the mafia, and it’s 100% true. At some point we’ll all have to cancel. Keep that in mind when signing up. They don’t care about you, they care about making money regardless of what anyone says, or whether these policies are based on the franchise or single owner. They knew how much of a scam it was when they invested, so they should know they’ll always have customers that will feel cheated.
Last year I excitedly signed up and had a great time, then found out just a few months after that I was pregnant. I had a very high risk pregnancy & was put on best rest until delivery. The studio, of course like everyone else, refused to make exceptions to be able to cancel over the phone or online, even with my diagnosis and valid doctor’s notes. After my mom also had the worst time with cancelling, she finally was able to terminate her account as well so we could both be done with this place. I just delivered my daughter & never gave this a thought again because I was on my mom’s plan that was cancelled, and it turns out they started charging one of my family members accounts & has been charging $9 since last year! (If you are on a family plan, they WILL trap you into paying all payments for anyone else). I finally gave up & called & said I would just go in since I’m not pregnant anymore. The lady on the phone said that they couldn’t cancel, only the manager could but she would be off for the next 3 days & to come in Monday. I had to haul my whole family in the car & head to the studio. I called at least 10 times on the way (this is DURING their fully staffed hours) and got no answer, and finally arriving (DURING the time the lady said the manager would be there) just for no one to answer the door. It’s like this studio is playing hide & seek just to cancel! For it to take weeks just to cancel is a joke. Shame on this place, seriously.

Loving this location. Recently re-joined Hotworx (used to go to the one on Broadway) and I missed it so much. Have been twice, and I noticed that the vents are extremely dusty and should not be according to someone I know that manages a Hotworx location. I also saw some hair in one of the saunas. Hopefully, those things are cleaned soon and up kept often. I don’t like the idea of breathing in dust. Will try to reach out to a manager about this, as it is important to me. I have not met any of the staff yet but the woman I spoke with on the phone when I was trying to re-join was super nice!!

Update: Denise called me and told me that she is on top of it! I really appreciate her calling. I mostly go at night so I never really get to meet anyone and I understand that there is a lot of traffic in and out of the gym.

There needs to be an emphasis on the process, like a huge sign or something. It has taken months for me to cancel my daughter’s membership due to the fact that one must absolutely have an appointment to do so and having to pay two months of membership fees in order to cancel (which I still don’t get), if they are leaving the country why am I paying two months of membership fees to cancel. So disappointed in this place. They refused to cancel my membership with military orders after I have been there a year. I was dissatisfied with my experience in the first place. The floors were always dirty and at least one of the saunas would be broken every time. They obviously don’t honor their active duty military members. DONT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE

The staff is extremely friendly and very welcoming. However, the owner of this facility believes it is ok to add unauthorized charges to your account without your consent. When I asked about the additional charges on my account, I was told this has happened before. Even the response from the owner listed below is completely invalid. The excess charges totaled $35, not just $5. Her reasoning was she did not agree with the package pricing I was offered upon enrollment. Take into account the reviews for this location, and take your money somewhere else.

Love this place! It is definitely worth trying. I had expectations of the heat, thinking it would be uncomfortable. It’s not! The technology that is used is an infrared/dry heat. It’s not stuffy like some people would imagine. You sweat in the most amazing way!! The heat also helps to relax my muscles and help me zen 🧘‍♀️. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HOTWORX!! This is the only gym & only workouts I’ve consistently done. I literally crave the infrared sauna when I’m not there. I’ve lost 30 lbs since starting 5 months ago.

This location has changed for the better since the new GM started. The saunas & restrooms are clean, broken equipment has been fixed & there’s a good stock of merch available to buy. So happy someone who actually cares about this location, like Denise, has taken over.

Very very difficult to cancel your membership. Please read their cancellation requirement very carefully prior to signing up.

Recently had a family emergency which requires me to relocate. Getting this membership canceled while not in San Antonio is one of the hardest things I needed to do while trying to handle family business. They required a certified mailed letter for my intent to cancel. Once they received the letter, they took that as the 60 days notice so I am still paying. After mailing, calling, calling back, I was given the option to pay for an "immediate" cancelation for another $200.

This has been the most difficult and expensive account to close among all the providers I am working with.

Take a look at the 1 star reviews for this place and take note how many of them are cancellation requests. There is clearly a problem there.

I’ve been a member since August of 2022 and I truly believe that this gym has made such an impact for my health journey. I am a sweat everywhere member and this studio is my absolute favorite. Love hotworx and use multiple locations, but Alamo Ranch is run down, and equipment is in disrepair. The last time I was at this location, one of the cycle bikes was stuck on the brakes. Today, I did the rowing machines... middle machine is loose, and the seat doesn't move smoothly. Moved to one of the other machines, and the velcro on the foot straps is completely ripped, leaving the machine unusable. Super bummed that the location is closest to me is so unreliable.

While I enjoyed my time at Alamo Ranch, the cancellation process has been nothing but a nightmare. The policies to cancel were unclear and due to staff error, I'm on the hook for money coming out of my account that should have been cancelled. They will not work with you on this. You cannot reach the owners to discuss, only the staff who cannot find your account, nor the bank account they charge MONTHLY without you providing your bank statements. So, moral of the story, don't add anyone to your account, then believe them when they say your entire account has been cancelled, because it has not been.

I have been a member since this location opened and I highly recommend them. The staff is very welcoming and nice. Whether your fitness goals are big or small, you are sure to have the support and equipment to help you reach them. The staff make you feel like family, Natalie, Lexie, Sarah and Diego are so encouraging and cheer your every accomplishment. They are there when you have q question or just need some encouragement. When they got the new staff at this location the energy improved and now I have meet some wonderful new friend's that share similar goals and interests like mine.

Trying to cancel your membership is ridiculous. There had to be an actual manager there to process it and for over a month there hasn't been anyone to help me. I have come in person, called and emailed and now am being told to send certified mail to process a cancelation and it wont be canceled until they receive it. I've offered to give a copy of my ID and write a statement but they have refused to cancel. Plus you pay for an autobahn 2 or 3 months

They make it soooo hard to cancel your membership! You could only do it IF the manager (which they told me she was there 11am-3pm and no weekends) or write a letter which they will still charge you 60 days after you cancel. I explained to them i work from 6-5pm sometimes even later but they did not take that into consideration. So I decided to give it another try since they were still charging me. Turns out I couldn’t sign up to any classes whatsoever but they still want to charge me?! I texted them and never responded. But as soon as I text them that I want to cx they reply right away.

I’ve been a member for well over a year. Love the classes, love the freedom of 24 hours, pretty clean facility.

One of the main reasons I joined is bc you can reserve a time for the free weight zone. To me, this is a huge plus because compared to Golds or any other gym all the benches or cable machines can be taken up and here, I can reserve it for 45 minutes and get a great workout.
I’ve given 3 stars bc every couple months, they take away the ability to reserve the free weight zone and it makes me contemplate cancelling my membership bc this is the very reason I signed up. They see it as “yay! You can just use it and not reserve it!” but I see it as an inconvenience.

So many times when I had reserved the free weight section and people were there, I would just show them and they would apologize and move and now, because you can’t reserve it I have to hope no one is there bc the free weight section is way to small for more than 2-3people. So if there are people already there, I just have to go home. Just sucks.

I don’t understand why they do this. This zone should also require a reservation bc there’s a class you can take on the TV just like there’s a class in all the sauna rooms. It shouldn’t be a free for all. Especially because people like to just sit their sweaty butts there in between classes for a break and when I go, I’m actually trying to workout.

This gym is great if you are looking for a structured gym routine and the ability to go to the gym whenever you want to. The gym has virtual trainers who guide you through various exercise programs. A 15 minute exercises will have you feeling like you put in at least 45 min of work. The gym is open 24/7 as well. The staff is very friendly and the environment in the gym is really chill. I have been going here for about 2 months now and I'm thoroughly enjoying my sessions.
