Needs better staff, charged me for bringing a guest* whenever the so called guest has his own membership card. Wanted to pay for a week pass, it was a bit over time. But the office was still open with a worker just standing there obviously not paying attention* considering I could’ve snuck a guest in. We chose to ask if we could, were told no and asked why we wanted to pay.. it’s pretty obvious we’re paying to gym up. But furthermore, told us no and repeatedly asked if I let the so called guest in* even though we had gone there the past 5 months. Wanted a week pass bcuz I was going back to school. Got charged 55* with no new date in my membership, because it was a fine. 3 days later my membership is expired and want me to pay a whole another 27*. Would’ve spent 82$* in 1 month for what is worth almost 4 months of yalls gym. Worker wore glasses *Male, I think* chose to give me attitude, and kept staring at me as if I did the worst possible thing. again, could’ve easily snuck the guest in. But chose to ask and if not we’d have left.
Edit: a younger lady had let us pay bcuz she was there even after hours at the gym.
This is why yall got a 1 star from me. Gym is a solid 8/10though.

Very picky about gyms, but I actually had a great experience at iron core. They had good machines, good amount of dumbbells, and a good atmosphere. Came in on a day pass and the front desk was super friendly and helpful which I really appreciated! However I did find the actual gym section wasn’t the cleanest (people not wiping down their machines) but every other part and the restrooms were clean, so no complains there. I definitely will be back!

The previous gym I was at before I felt a little judge and I didn’t have much motivation. When I first signed up at iron core , I felt very comfortable and I liked that during the process of signing up it was easy and fast . My first day there I felt very comfortable and not judged by anyone there . I like knowing that everyone is to themselves and it’s an old school gym. I also like that their Instagram page shares your story when you tag them ,I think that’s really neat and nice of them ! I would suggest this gym to any of my friends or family !

This is the best gym I have ever been too. The owners are so friendly and talk to everyone in the gym and make this gym feel like home. The employees are so encouraging and hard working. The environment is so encouraging and uplifting. I’ve been here the last couple of years and have made progress here because of how comfortable I feel coming here. Checked out every gym in Harlingen, and they don't compare to iron core gym. The hours are great and staff was very helpful in applying for membership. No contracts, however they tell you the rules and they seem easy to follow, so just follow the rules and you will be fine. Pros: free weights, cardio machines, and alot of different equipment in a gym that is medium sized. Cons: the parking. ..gym is great place to workout and relieve stress. There are no showers, but there are restrooms. They have first responder discount and veteran discounts as well. Overall, this is my new go to gym and will stay here. I highly recommend at least give it a try and see how it is. 5/5

Best gym ever in my opinion ! Love been a member there , the staff is very welcoming and it’s a friendly environment. The only thing I don’t like is that some members don’t put back the weights and it’s too heavy for me to put them back . I mean i lift but come on gentleman..and ladies , if you’re just there to take pictures and take up machines for just sitting and talking , go to planet fitness 😂 others are there to actually workout. Not for likes and follows . Other than that , I love the privacy after hours when it’s members only 😊 . But you are always welcome to bring guests during guest hours. Oh and no contract needed.

It’s in the name. Iron. If you like greats such as Arnold, Ronnie, and or Tom, just know they were moving iron weights. Expect an old school gym where you can lift some heavy weights and get an amazing pump. I have been to this gym a few times due to my busy schedule. I love the hours which allows people like me that are always on the go, workout when its convenient to the consumer as opposed to following someone else's schedule when the consumer is paying for the service not the other way around. Very affordable for an
exclusive access gym. The staff has always been friendly, professional and the most important quality of a business is genuine appreciation of the customer. They work extra hard to make sure their members can feel the appreciation and not just hear it from some billboard or ad. This is Texas. South Texas at that. And summer time.

This gym was apart of my blue cross blue shield fitness plan so I figured I'd slip planet and workout here for a day. Got signed up for an account, super easy. Guy was very friendly and explained everything well.

The front room was a little air conditioned? Had some older cardio equipment which was nice. But still rather dated. But it worked, and that's what's important.

Walked through to the actual gym, and was at first excited. Then very disappointed. It was that old school iron plate, ivanco dumbbell, smells like grit gym.

Then I started to notice how badly maintained the machines are. The ones that had the padding in any sort of operational order were out of order. The ones that you could use, mostly, we're so far beat up I was a bit grossed out and didn't do a lot of the machines that I wanted to. That being said they did have sanitation bottles everywhere for you to wipe down the equipment. So it was clean.

They did have two smith machines and a couple power racks, which were in good working order. And all the bars themselves had great knurling and we're pretty nice.

So the Texas thing? Why say all that? It's an open air, no ac, and a few poorly placed fans gym. It's uncomfortablely hot. Most everyone smelled okay but honestly it was too hot to get in a good workout. Had the machines been in better condition it might be a little different. But unfortunately with the state of the machines and how hot it was I'm going to cancel my membership, mostly because I wouldn't be utilizing it. If they had the machines re-covered they machines wouldnt be that bad.

Friendly. Absolutely. Clean? It was despite the padding on some machines Well maintained and worth coming back? For this reviewer, no.

Love this gym so affordable, great music and awesome Zumba classes my girlfriend can enjoy while I work out, also amazing energy drinks that come in many flavors. It’s very convenient for our family because while my girl and I enjoy our work out, our kids can be having fun in the day care center they provide. Trended my corporate membership gym, and decided to support local business, and wow! Old school gym, this place has old equipment (not a problem for me), AMAZINGLY friendly staff, and family owned and operated. A gym for real people. I'm not a gym type of person. If I exercise, I like to be outside but when I told my husband I wanted to start exercising again, he convinced me to try his new gym. He even paid for my membership...we will get back to that. I was surprised when I first walked in because the atmosphere is so relaxed. It is a no judgement zone and everyone is so encouraging. The owners are there and will visit with the customers to get to know them personally. They are always talking about ideas and thoughts for improvements. Stephanie and CJ, personal trainers, are totally cool and approachable. The Zumba classes kicked my butt (I had never done Zumba before.) The other people there are there to work out, not socialize or be on their phones. Everyone is considerate of each other. My husband had my wedding rings in his pocket but they fell out without knowing. The guy working out between us told me they were on the floor. I appreciated that. The equipment is in excellent condition and the price is very affordable. There are no extra fees or gimmics what they say the price is is what it is. No hidden fees. This is the perfect place for beginners all the way to pros.
