This is the first bad review I’ve ever left. I tried to take care of this privately to give Jerrick an opportunity to make things right. After many opportunities, he elected not to.

What to expect:
This isn’t personal training in the way you might expect. You’re billed monthly or bimonthly whether sessions are used or not, regardless of circumstances, even if you’re hospitalized as a result of these sessions (details below). The sessions expire after one month, but I was never informed of that when paying for two weeks worth of sessions on my first visit.

Jerrick will train other people at the same time, so you don’t get the focus of a personal trainer (as you might hope for when signing up).

My situation:
I have regularly exercised for the better part of the last 15 years. I purchased 6 workouts on my first visit with Jerrick and worked out with Jerrick twice. During our first session, I was a bit surprised that he was training someone else at the same time, but I let it go, thinking it was perhaps a one-off thing. Then it happened again during our second session. We did a core workout during this session. He would demonstrate a workout, then I’d begin. While I was doing that workout, he walked into the adjacent room and gave another person instructions for their workout (virtually), meaning he wasn’t even in the same room while I was working out. At this point, I assumed this was normal.

My last workout with Jerrick was on a Friday. I started feeling sore Saturday night. Sunday morning I woke up in pain. I assumed it was normal muscle pain, which I’ve experienced plenty. However, later that evening, I started showing symptoms of rhabdomyolysis. Monday, I went to the urgent care. They did some tests and sent me to the ER. I was then admitted to the hospital through the following Friday. The 4 doctors that I saw said that the rhabdo was a direct result of my workouts with Jerrick.

I texted Jerrick while I was in the hospital and he seemed sympathetic. I told him that the doctors said I could not work out for at least two weeks. Two weeks went into Christmas and new years, so I told Jerrick that it was best to complete our 4 unused sessions after the new year. He agreed, but we never discussed any new workout dates.

On January 1st, I was charged for another set of 6 sessions. I asked Jerrick why, and he said the billing never stops. He offered to add on the unused sessions, as long as my billing continued. I told him that I didn’t want to be billed again until I used up my sessions.

He offered to refund the new sessions but said that I would lose the unused sessions as a result. I told him that wasn’t fair, especially since I was hospitalized as a result of his workouts. He said it was his policy and sent a picture of a piece of paper with a list of policies. He then claimed that he showed it to me. Which he never did.

I wanted to use the 4 sessions and then pay for more after. Since Jerrick said those sessions were no longer available, I asked for a refund of the unused sessions. Jerrick said no on multiple occasions. I would have moved on with my life if he had made it right by billing me after I used up my previous sessions or refunding my unused sessions. Instead, he kept the money.
