I loved the studios while they were open but they closed down their Voss location a few months ago, which is the one I signed with and was closest to me. I still stuck with them because I loved the instructors, but now they have screwed me again and just closed their studio on 4/30/18. I paid for a year up front, the right thing to do would be to give me my money back. There was no notice and no reason given. It was just ripped out from under all of us.

One of our technicians (at Wired Electrical Services) went out here to replace a bad ballast in their restroom. The job went well, the technician did exactly as he was asked, but they have yet to pay us for our work. It's been literally over a year, and every time we call to settle the invoice, no one is available. Plumbers and handymen beware, do not do work for them as they will not pay their bill, If you do, they will dodge you for over a year, costing you a headache as well.

I loved the instructors and facilities at the Voss location, but I would be wary of committing to a long term package here. I purchased a 6 month package and 3 months in, I received an email saying the Voss location would be closing in 3 days and that refunds would not be an option. They clearly do not value the customers' satisfaction.

I love the friendly, welcoming vibe at this studio! The instructors are excellent and the class times are convenient. My favorite is the 45 minute lunchtime power yoga - I can actually fit in a great class and go back to work in a reasonable amount of time.

WARNING -UNETHICAL MANAGEMENT! Don't prepay or buy packages because they won't refund the unused portion if they close. They closed the Voss location with less than a week's warning and refuse to refund me the $1000 worth I have left on my membership. No explanation other than it's not possible. They've offered to transfer the membership to the Washington location or another studio that is not convenient. Why not just do the right thing and give people a refund, Ms. Trevino?

After my usual studio closed its been hard to find a studio that offers non heated yoga classes. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and organization of the studio as well as the instructor. Parking may be an issue at busy times, as the lot is shared with many businesses.

I tried the Power Yoga for my first class and really enjoyed it. It pushed me harder than any yoga class I've done and the atmosphere was very motivating. Pros: good workout, very skillful teachers. Cons: expensive, small classroom, parking is very difficult to find in the back lot.

I love this studio. As a new yogi (practicing 10 months) I feel very comfortable here and have loved attending some of the workshops they offer. What I enjoy most are the instructors- they each bring something special and unique to their practice and I benefit from that immensely!

Joy Yoga has, in my opinion, some of the nicest and most thoughtful instructors I have ever met. I've tried various yoga studios in Houston and in other cities and states, but never before had I experienced the type of meditation that I get from the classes at Joy Yoga. The instructors always ask about any special needs and check in with the students after the class to ask about the experience. I love the diversity of classes, too - Restorative, Power Flow, Gentle Flow, Rock Your Flow. The variety of classes and teaching style ensures that everyone can have the practice they want. I am so glad I became a member here!

What I love about Joy Yoga is not only the variety of classes and times at which classes are offered, but also the sense of community one builds when you take classes here. Especially if you keep coming to classes with the same teachers and build a relationship with them, you really begin to open yourself up more, in your body and mind. I've enjoyed every class I've taken at joy, but I really love taking classes with Tessie, she always brings such a positive light and energy to her classes. Joy encourages you to do what's best for you in your individual practice, while also building strength and community with others in the room around you.

I love this place. I like the yoga for athletes. It's very challenging. I am not a hot yoga person. The studio believes in generating your own heat as do I. Pretty much every teacher o have tried is good. A lot of them go around the room and if necessary will help you make adjustments. Some teachers such as Judy, Jana,Joy, Athea, and Suzi will massage essential oil or cooling lotion on your neck. It's really relaxing. The facility is very clean and provide toiletries such as deodorant and dry shampoo. There are no showers as an FYI. I like that there is a variety of classes from power flow, slow flow, acro yoga, and restorative. The new student special is worth it. At least give it a try. There are two locations. The app is useful to see the class schedule

Joy Yoga is an apt name for this inviting, friendly yoga studio, whose experienced instructors and convenient classes bring a little more joy to my life every time I go.

Instructors/Staff: This is where Joy Yoga really shines. All of the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, willing to answer questions, confident yet approachable. Joy holds high standards for their instructors and it shows. The staff is friendly and welcoming, will answer any questions you have, and make you feel at home.

Course offerings: Joy offers dozens of classes, ranging from restorative to power flow and everything in-between. The breadth and sheer quantity of classes offered make Joy Yoga a great choice for a busy student who needs yoga to work around their schedule.

Facilities: Both yoga rooms are spacious and bright with large windows, brightly colored walls, and one room has full-length mirrors across an entire wall. The entire studio has a clean, modern, welcoming feel. Thoughtful amenities include restrooms (no shower), cubbies for personal items, toiletries (q tips, lotion, dry shampoo, etc.), tea, and water. There are plenty of mats, straps, blocks, and bolsters available free to students. Classes are not heated: you are invited to build as much or as little heat as you need in your own body.

Bottom line: Try Joy Yoga! Treat yo'self and consider investing in your health and wellness. The specials for first time students make it a very low-risk proposition :)

New in Houston and wanted to get back into my fitness routine asap. Have been at Joy Yoga about 2 weeks and have really enjoyed every single one of the classes I have taken. The Restorative Yoga is wonderful especially after a Power Flow Yoga Class the day before. I find the instructors to be caring and professional - correcting all the stuff I had been doing wrong. So many different types of classes on all days of the week at all hours. I will try them ALL. Happy! Oh, and parking is plentiful and easy which is not common in Houston!

I'm fairly new to yoga - I've taken classes here and there, but never anything regular. A friend introduced me to Joy Yoga Center, however, and I'm hooked. I love the fact that there are classes at all times of the day, so I can fit them in with my work schedule. On top of that, the instructors are willing to work with each individual class member's skill level. I don't feel like I'm being talked down to for my lack of knowledge, or like I'm holding up the rest of the class. This is a non-judgmental environment aimed at helping everyone improve. I've been practicing yoga for 20 years, just moved to Houston, and discovered Joy. It's the perfect blend of great teachers, friendly staff, a ton of variety of classes adjustable to all levels, a clean, airy & light studio/facilities, great central location, and reasonable prices. They have a few Groupon specials and run great deals now and again for ongoing members. Everyone who practices there is nice, mindful, and doesn't take it too seriously. This is a great place to do yoga. My 2 favorite yogis are Jana and Lauren. I especially enjoy Jana because she is so sweet. Throughout the class you can feel her positive energy. She pays close attention to everyone's posing and is always helpful and thoughtful. Tuesday and Thursday at 9 am is the class I love. She does a guided meditation at the end that really helps you relax and disconnect from the outside world. I highly recommend joy yoga! I've been to two yoga studios so far and Joy provides a much better balance for beginners. They have candle light, slow, regular, and power yoga classes that allow to ramp up your workout based on your own level. Having the variety does make it harder to get exactly what you want exactly when you want it, but with a bit of planning I think it works better overall. Joy Yoga is a tad more expensive than some others, but you are paying for the class variety and the amply sized classrooms.

For those of you that have never gone before, be aware that the $40 introductory month is only available if you have never taken any classes at all. If you want to get an idea of what it is like, you might try out the free yoga class at the Galleria taught by Joy Yoga Instructors on the weekend.

I used to practice yoga regularly but have been on a hiatus after moving and being unable to find a studio I liked. Enter Joy Yoga and their very reasonable $39 introductory month for unlimited classes. I like Joy even better than my old studio! Joy is a very warm and friendly environment- the teachers and employees are very helpful and want you to have the best yoga experience possible. As someone getting back into yoga, I appreciate that the focus at Joy is having the best possible practice for you, no matter what level you are. I've found other studios can be very intimidating and cliquey- this is not how my experience at Joy has been. In addition to being a very positive environment to practice in, Joy offers a wide variety of classes at various times. I can rarely get out of work before 6:30pm and I appreciate that Joy offers later classes so I can decompress after a long day at work. Although all the classes I've taken have been great, Judy's Saturday morning Slow Flow has been a highlight. Her class is challenging and I love how great I feel getting a good practice in at the start of my weekend. Very happy with Joy Yoga and will continue to come here beyond my 1-month membership.

Yoga was the first form of exercise I was able to do after fracturing both feet and JoyYoga's instructors have all been mindful and flexible with my capabilities. My first time was for the Yoga Challenge where we actually got paid for doing yoga (giftcard)! I tried every instructor I could and I didn't hate any of them. I definitely had favorites but I think it's mainly because of the type of class rather than instructor. The front staff have always been super nice and even remembered my name. They offer free mat cleaner, paper towels, yoga mats, blocks, straps, and bolsters. Both locations have a well maintained restroom and cubbies for your belongings. Highly recommend Power flow followed by Destress or Relax classes. Oh, and I can't forget the awesome AcroYoga classes. It's a strong core workout so I would definitely check that out no matter what level you are. First class is free and first month is unlimited for $39. Joy Yoga has been a wonderful experience for me since I started taking classes a few months ago. The environment is really positive and encouraging, asking you to try new things but never pushing you past a level you are comfortable with. There are always options and variations depending on your experience and the instructors stress that it is a yoga "practice", so come to class with an idea of what you want to focus on and improve and you will come away happy!

I love the instructors, they are very knowledgeable and open to questions so whether you are brand new to yoga (like I was a few months ago) or advanced, you are welcome and there is always something to learn. I am amazed at how much I have improved since I started and that's the only metric you are asked to measure yourself by! If you are into super competitive practice, then this is not the studio for you.

One of the best things about Joy Yoga is that there are classes going on all day long with a wide variety of instructors. It's really easy to develop a wonderful practice with a particular yogi or practice with a different instructor every day of the week.

People here are cheerful and sweet. The space is clean and comfortable. Every time I walk up the stairs to suite 900 (the Washington location, that is) I always delight in the feeling of peace that comes over me.

While I have had (generally) good experiences with the instructors here-- a few exceptions of course, but it takes all colors, doesn't it? there's another class in half an hour... I would NOT miss the chance for a class with Larry, Kim, Michael, or Jana.

Excellent and beautiful studio offering a variety of teachers and class types multiple times throughout the day. I cannot stress how much I love the location of the studio on the second floor with windows overlooking Washington Ave...the night classes are really beautiful and the sunlight streaming in invigorates your practice. Definitely worth purchasing an unlimited class package as there are enough offerings to make the most of the price if you want to go daily. It's nice that each teacher runs things differently, everyone's style for Basics or Mix Levels varies so even if you go to a Basics class every day, it will be different each time. Suzy Soto = Excellent, Melanie Comegys = Inspirational, Susan Underwood = Magic, Judy O'Donnell = Wonderful (esp her playlist), Michael Perkola = Refreshing. The girls at the front desk are really nice, one of them began remembering me only after a few visits which makes checking in even faster, not that it's ever a lengthy process. I've practiced yoga off and on for 4 years and this is the first time I've committed to a monthly membership, that's how much I love Joy Yoga!

An update, I attended two classes with Melanie Comegys at the Voss location last night. It's a great spot, beautiful and clean studio. I really loved Melanie's classes. Not more I can say that hasn't already been stated in previous reviews. Joy Yoga is a wonderful setting: clean and calming, the staff is friendly and helpful, two studios give more calss options to accommodate your schedule. In recent months I have taken a few basics classes with the instructor Melanie Comegys. Her teaching methods are relaxed and focused, making sure that students have correct posture alignment, and that the flow from one pose to the next is organic with your own body's physical range. If you're looking for a solid, all inclusive mind and body experience then I highly recommend her class. No matter where you are in your practice, from beginners to even the most experienced of yogis, you will benefit.

Thank you, Joy Yoga, keep up the good work!

I recommend trying to mix it up and go to all the instructors because each one has a unique and wonderful practice to share.

I hosted a bridal shower at Joy Yoga this Saturday. The bride loves yoga and I wanted to plan something different vs. a "traditional" bridal shower. Joy yoga was so much fun and our guests thought it was a great venue for an event. The studio is very nice and has a wonderful view, as the studio has lots of windows and is on the 2nd story. We had a 2 hour block window. We started with a 30 - 45 min. yoga class and then finished with food, gifts and visiting. I would highly recommend hosting an event or party here. They were very easy to work with and more than accommodating.

The instructors at Joy Yoga helped make my pregnancy fit and fun. While I did not participate in any pre-natal classes, the instructors subtly watched over me to ensure I did not push myself too hard. I took my last class at 34 weeks and my son was born early at 37/5!
The instructors differ, so it might take a few classes before you find your favorite or "home" class, but it's worth it!

If I didn't go to Joy's every Sunday for Rose's gentle yoga class I could not make it through my long travel weeks! The classes are always great at Joy's!

My yoga go to in Houston! I really like this studio- great location, tucked away, plenty of space for classes and amazing staff! I prefer the gentle yoga and yoga for relaxation. I wish I could come here more often, but my schedule doesn't always allow it. If you are looking for a place to try in this neighborhood- I would highly recommend you go and try just one class :)
