I’ve been coming to this gym for many years, and while I appreciate that they finally updated the weight area, the customer service has gone downhill. The front desk staff in the mornings—specifically Kylie—has no customer service skills whatsoever. She is consistently rude, unhelpful, and makes the start of every workout frustrating.

During the day, things are no better. The office manager, Willie, also lacks basic customer service skills. He is passive-aggressive, unprofessional, and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. I once brought a potential new member using my guest privileges, and Willie practically chased him away by trying to charge him a fee he shouldn’t have. That guest never returned because of how poorly he was treated.

Both Kylie and Willie contribute to a negative experience, and it’s disappointing after so many years of loyalty. This gym urgently needs to address its customer service problems.

Last week I decided to go to This club to workout and join however my experience was Horrible. I was greeted by A guy named Willie not a very good first impression. He started explaining that its 20 to workout however I wanted to find more about the club beforehand He was so worried that I pay a fee without adding any Value. Bad Gym dont join. We went to the Gym up the street On josey and Joined there Much better customer Service.

I have worked out at this location for two years with my Girlfriend who has a Buddy pass on her account and had no complaints till recently apparently there is a New Front Desk Manager Willie and has no Customer Service Skills he is Demanding and Very Rude. He stopped us and made us feel unwelcomed. I pay the monthly bill for My Girlfriend to have buddy passes on her account and not to be treated like she is a Criminal. He needs to Chill out or go work a security Job.

I’ve recently been visiting this LA Fitness as a guest with my friend. The facility itself is great, and most of the staff have been welcoming and professional. I had actually been considering signing up for a membership here, but during our visit I believe it was Tuesday or Wednesday, my friend and I were greeted by a new front desk employee who came across as noticeably unfriendly and unapproachable. I later found out he was actually the new front desk manager, which was even more disappointing. It was surprising, especially since every other experience we’ve had up to this point has been positive. It honestly left a sour impression, and we ended up visiting another gym instead. It honestly changed how I felt about the place, and I don’t think I’ll be signing up anymore. I just wanted to share this feedback because I’ve really liked this location otherwise.

Update

Went In and tried the gym. I like the facility. The location is good. But..

1. Most of the leg equipment in the center are broken or bent.

2. Bathroom was dirty but not horrendous.

3. The sauna looked like a run down room in a horror movie. I honestly did not want to even touch anything.

Lifetime, what happened to your pre covid quality?

Called in for membership questions and did not get much help from the staff. Went in and it wasn’t any better.

Location is fantastic. The pricing information I was told was inconsistent and will have to check on pricing again.

Hopefully I can find more consistent pricing by calling corporate.

I have tried Carrollton location today for the step class with Eve. In my 30+ years of experience I’ve had all kind of step aerobics instructors, but this one was the most frustrating. Eve needs a reminder that this is a CLASS FOR US, not just for her to come and enjoy herself, while ignoring a straggling new member. I’ll be going back to the Plano location with up to 25-30 members a class. Crowded, but intelligent. My time is valuable and I am giving 2 stars to Eve R. for arrogantly wasting it.

I just moved here from Tampa FL + came in today to transfer my membership. The manager with the glasses was going on break but instructed me that his front desk would be back to assist me.

Trey (front desk) came back in an attempt to assist in getting my membership transferred. I am very friendly + social so Trey felt comfortable + began to joke around. I let a few of the passive aggressive jokes slide but he continued to the point where it was just plain mean. Saying comments like “I’ve seen plenty of women who have muscle like you” + during our conversation about my weight from the scale, I informed him I also have 80 lbs of muscle in he then clapped slowly saying “whoopdy do” it’s kind of funny now that I think about it that someone could be that sarcastic + comfortable to say all of things within meeting a person for 5 mins. As I reflect the sad part is I don’t think he was “trying to be rude” I just think it’s who he is. Oh + he also gave me a colorist/microaggressive comment saying “you’re pretty for a dark skin girl… I’m a redbone man”. I don’t know whether the managers should pull him into the office to talk to him, have him take a customer service training or for him to read a book. Either way, my membership is cancelled. I was on the fence but this experience helped me make my decision.

The gym is beautiful + nice. Again, the other manager with the glasses was kind. When I reported the incident he didn’t seem shocked by my complaints so maybe “that’s just him”.

Just OK. A little pricey for what they offer.

Not the gyms fault but some rude people do not respect court reservations.

Management should keep an eye on that. Can get uncomfortable when people give you a hard time for kicking them out even though you reserved it.

Plus you pay extra for the option of reserving courts.

Cancelation procedure is ridiculous.

Experience just like the others. I used to go to La fitness in the state i used to live in. I started out there with the 3 day pass just to make sure i liked it. I had no issues i scanned right in used the pass then signed up in that location. Now i live out here. I wanted to try the Carrollton location with the free pass i had from online that told me just to scan it once i got there. It was a trial to see if my friend and i would like to workout there together. We waited about 20 min just to get the sales manager or whoever. We had to fill out a whole paper about what our goals are etc. then he started taking our info, trying to find out why we wanted to come to them asking me what experience i have at a gym as if i didn’t explain multiple times already. He wasted a good 45 min explaining to us things to the point that we couldn’t even use our passes that day. He said they don’t let it be a simple 3 day pass, and that we needed an appointment to be scheduled which is not the case as i am reading the reviews and have been to prior la fitness where it takes two seconds to scan in. He kept talking about people who were scamming and abusing the pass which means nothing to us we just wanted to have a mutual gym to work out together. He kept projecting other issues they have in the gym on us. He was asking us multiple times what machines we wanted to use so we could get a tour from the trainer. I went to school for kinesiology and grew up in a gym and been to la fitness i know how to use equipment. I felt like i was being investigated. Very unorganized he just kept ranting about their gym being voted the best and it’s so safe and all this stuff when all we wanted to do was a trial day in that location. Waste of time and will not be back.

Signed up online for the 3 day complimentary guest pass to try this gym before choosing it or another one through my work’s active & fit program where they partner with multiple different gyms to offer discounted rates.

I showed up at 6:50PM in hopes of being able to try the 7PM Zumba class. The membership manager was busy until 7PM. He first started collecting my info including whether or not I was switching gyms, what my fitness goals are, why I was interested in going to the gym, etc.

However, when he was about to show me the different membership options, I told him I was potentially interested in joining through the active & fit partnership with the gym. He immediately changed his attitude and was unprofessional and rude the rest of the conversation. He told me that it makes more sense for me to sign up for membership through the active & fit program which I told him I am aware since I did my research on the cost beforehand. However, I said that there are multiple gym options to choose from through the program so I want to see which one I like the most by doing different guest trial passes over the next few weeks. He goes on to tell me what he believes is the difference between what LA Fitness offers vs another gym also a part of the program. He also tells me that I am not able to try or use anything (classes, equipment, etc.) without a membership due to liability concerns/LA Fitness being membership focused/he does not honor the guest pass at this location since people take advantage of it/members will get upset at overcrowding and it is what it is (he repeats it is what it is multiple times throughout this conversation when it really isn’t). Keep in mind I was able to sign up online for the 3 day guest trial pass for this specific location and the process also makes you sign a liability waiver. He then goes on to say that he does not see the point in people trying gyms since equipment is equipment, which I had already told him that I would be more focused on classes vs equipment when he was asking me about my fitness goals, and there are different instructor styles, levels, music choices, etc. and even for equipment, people can try the variety and perhaps quality of equipment across different gyms not to mention other amenities, and the staff members (case in point in this scenario). He also asks what class I was wanting to try, and I told him Zumba but it is already around 7:10 at this point and he snickers, which I respond that I had to wait to talk to him and now we are still going back and forth.

He then proceeds to tell me that other people are waiting to speak to him and practically shoos me out by standing up from his chair and giving me a limp handshake.

Makes me wonder if I had never brought up the active & fit program, if he would have treated me differently and allowed me to use the guest pass thinking I would potentially sign up through their “regular” membership options and he might’ve gotten some type of commission or something is my guess. Regardless, unacceptable customer experience and not a welcoming environment for someone’s first time here.

EDIT: The next day, I went to another LA Fitness location, and my guest pass was honored there including classes without any questions.

EDIT 2: A few days later, this Midway location had the audacity to call me and ask if I was interested in coming in to use the guest pass that I had signed up for online. When I said I tried to already but was denied entrance, I got an apology and was told there needs to be an appt set up in advance to use the pass. However when I further explained the situation, the guy I spoke to on the phone, Chris, (idk if he’s the same guy I spoke to in person) says that what I need is a walk around tour to answer my questions, that “equipment is equipment,” and only members can attend classes. And when I told him that I was able to use my guest pass at the Josey location to attend classes, he says “that it typical of them to not follow the rules” and says “have a great day bye” basically.

I tried to tour this gym and the manager acts like you are trying to scam him for a free workout or something. I signed up for a free three day pass, but he told me they don’t really allow that anymore. He just makes you feel unwelcome from the start. Why would I want to join a place like that. Makes sense why this place is so slow when all the other gyms are packed. It looks like it’s a nice facility but I wouldn’t actually know because I didn’t get to use anything. He said a gyms a gym. That’s not true. We all know some places keep equipment up and some don’t. It makes a big difference.

I have the same issues as most of the other review.
I m retired so go when it is not so busy. Even then people are on machines looking at their phones or visiting with other people. When there is only one machine you might have to wait 15 minutes to get on it. I don't have the time or patience to do that. Agree that there needs to be fans. Only gym I have been to that didn't have any. Also Agree with price. I got mine with my health insurance before I left and it keeps going up but I can go to almost any gym in the metroplex. This gym Is 5 minutes from my house so hate to go to another one but price is getting to high.

If this gym was $20 bucks a month, I would leave a 4-star review, but $40 bucks a month is insane for the poor quality of this gym. The men's bathroom smells really bad and has urinals that splash urine right back at you. Gym equipment, weights, etc. are always missing, and sometimes I have to walk across the entire gym just to find them. The employees are rude and will bother you around closing. One time I was leaving while it was closing and a guy in the courts was still playing racketball and I heard one of the employees mutter under their breath how something bad was gonna happen if they didn't leave. I also see this same employee working out DURING his shift. The employees don't greet you and yell at members to leave when it's closing time. They also always let random teenage guests behind the counter. They also lock the doors 30 minutes before closing. There's always spills and wet wipes everywhere. I'm not sure why they don't send someone every hour to check for cleanliness around the gym considering the employees are ALWAYS on their phones 24/7. It's 2025, and this gym still does not have water bottle fillers. I also never see anyone at the shake bar either. I'm surprised corporate hasn't fired the management here given how bad this gym is. The rates are also unfair. You can come on a holiday, and they'll say it's their best deal yet, and then randomly walk in on a Tuesday, and they're advertising an even cheaper rate. It makes it feel like I'm being scammed every single time I walk in. This gym is also absurdly warm during the winter. The owner can not take criticism either. He will only respond to 4-5 star reviews, but not reviews with 1-3 stars. This gym has real problems and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Decent gym with good machines. Most locations need to add fans because it gets quite during the summer time. PRO TIP. If you need to cancel your membership call and say that you moved out of the country and they will cancel it over the phone. Otherwise they require you to go in and battle their manager to get your membership cancelled. But once again good gym.

The equipment is pretty good, the layout is also good, but it’s missing certain niceties that I would expect from an LA. There are no bottle refill stations, the building hasn’t had WiFi as long as I’ve been a member (4 months). That coupled with the fact that the whole building is pretty much a dead zone for mobile data, which makes listening to music while working out a frustrating experience.

Recently there’s been an awful urine smell near the dumbbell rack. The bathroom urinals splash back at you. They have no straight barbells for curls, only EZ bars. The attachments for the cable machines are all over the place. The whole place seems like it needs a little attention.

You could definitely get some good workouts in here, but this location is subpar when compared to other LAs in the area.

What happened to the front desk staff of before ? I used to come to this gym with my friends and it was a good fun environment with excellent customer service. The manager from before Jackson was always attentive and helped everyone meanwhile the new guy at the front won’t even bother to look at anyone with his hat on backwards always looking at his phone. Happy to see that the same sales guys are here as before with Henry being the same nice guy as he always was but something seriously needs to change at the front desk receptionist area

I had a terrible experience with an employee named Isaiah at the front desk . He rudely accused me of smoking in the restroom when I was just sitting and waiting for my friends. First thing in the morning the gym is often in disarray with weights and trash all over and several attempts to reach management have gone nowhere. This has been a problem that’s gotten worse over the last two years I’ve attended this location, even with different staff. It’s like either they aren’t trained to clean things up or they simply don’t care.
If you like missing and misplaced weights and trash randomly throughout, then this is the gym for you!

Came to checkout this gym with a 3 day guest pass... definitely did not need as "Henry" was so helpful and thorough about what the membership offers (fees, amenities, plans etc.) Was given a nice tour around and loved what they had to offer. Main key point for me is cleanliness and that was checked off for me. I signed up immediately knowing I was at the right place and was not pressured into it. Goodbye guest pass! Highly recommend!

I walk in and there is a guy behind the desk focused on his computer rather than greeting members as we come in and out. There were three salespeople behind their desk on their phone. Then I walk into the dressing room and it is a mess. The bathrooms have toilet around the floor none of the stalls have toilet seat covers. It drives me crazy to see lazy people playing on their phones while the gym needs basic attention is it really that hard to get one person to walk through the gym maybe once an hour and make sure it looks good? To me, it looks like they are ready to take your money but are doing nothing to keep this place up.

Great gym with friendly staff ! I went there about 3 days ago and got a membership , Henry the General Manger was so nice and got me the best deal possible and even gave me 7 day passes to give to my family and friends. The front desk staff was also really polite and the other manager Andres gave me an amazing tour and showed me the gym ! I loved the gym and it will be my new home gym .

Adjust your rates despite locking it in. Annual fees hitting account not disclosed.

I've seen a half dozen people playing volley ball, pickle ball, soccer wall ball inside the courts but sine guys cries about a ball hitting the wall of a wall ball court and complains to management and I get kicked out of the court. No one had the court reserved nor was anyone waiting. Manager said if I didn't like it I could leave, I did and will no longer be coming here. Read other reviews about this management. If someone from corporate reads this yall need to take a serious look at the management of this gym.

Also, I've seen a half dozen juice bars come through here in the last 3 years, none last more than a couple months. If you find it vacant there is a reason, all of them fail. Don't rent the juice bar.

The wifi is spotty at best and half the time Spotify Playlist pause mid workout.
Data doesn't work half the time either. Download youraudio books, podcast, or music first.

After a half decade of coming here I've finally had enough. Going elsewhere.

Went for a three day pass to try it out. The second time I went the salesman was pretty pushy and embarrassed me in front of other members because I hadn't made a decision to switch gyms and acted like he didn't want me to work out because of that. SAFETY AND SECURITY ARE MAJOR ISSUES AT THIS GYM!!
Despite having a lock on my locker, someone managed to break in, stealing my cash and searching my bag. I reported the incident to staff, but after three days, I called back and the staff claimed they couldn't do anything and forwarded it to upper management. Unacceptable lack of responsibility. Paying a significant amount for membership should ensure better security. Disappointed customer!!

Joined here a couple years ago I love going to the gym , but I’ve noticed the parking lot is dirty I parked next to one of the trees and as I got out of my car I noticed a syringe laying in the tree still fluid in the syringe , I let management know But I was told they did not care about the parking lot they had made several complaints to corporate and they don’t do nothing I was also informed that a lot of the employees was looking for other jobs because they was under paid .. And they didn’t pay the trainers there worth , I find that disappointing because when I first signed up I paid $200. A month for a trainer 20 minutes a week I thought that was a rip off but I was obligated for a year I thought I would make the best of it I enjoyed the time with the trainer who was very educated on this tho I did not make my goal weight but what do u expect on 20 minutes a week But all that aside I think they can pay there employees better and clean up the parking lot and get some lights out there , and get the WiFi fixed … ☹️

This gym is consistently overcrowded. Many of the small lockers are routinely broken. There is no Wi-Fi and your cellular data is throttled while in the building.

Compared to planet fitness, it is not much better. For the price you're paying at this gym, you should get more convenience. They cannot justify what they're charging.

This gym is decent at best. Whats annoying is how they insist on making multiple closing announcements like were stupid! Many of us are educated professionals who ourselves may manage others. Alternate gyms are 10.00 a month and 25.00 gives national access so be glad some of us are still willing to pay more! 2 rival gyms will open in plano and 1 will be 24 hours so let's stop being petty went you don't even guarantee clean bathrooms

I don't like to write negative reviews. I called up asking if I could freeze my membership, spoke with one of the "managers" Henry. He was SO rude and condescending, he sounded so fed up being there. He said I would get an email confirmation and didn't let me know on the phone there would be a $10 FEE every month until I came back to check in. Gym is nice but there’s no cell service and no wifi so good luck trying to text someone, watch a workout video, or even listen to a song that’s not downloaded. Also the machines are broken a lot and take forever to get fixed + there’s a lot of machines that make a screeching noise that I can hear over my music.

Really just writing this for the wifi though. PLEASE GET WIFI FOR YOUR MEMBERS. We pay way too much monthly for LA fitness not to have that.

After working out for nearly two years at this gym, I was asked by my friends to help motivate them during their workouts. However, during one of our recent sessions, a gym employee named Dominique approached us with aggressive and inappropriate behavior, accusing me of personal training without permission and threatening to revoke our memberships. This confrontation was both unsettling and distracting, especially given that we were in the middle of a workout. To make matters worse, my friend was also subjected to harassment by gym staff during his workout. I was shocked and disappointed by the lack of professionalism and respect shown by the gym's management, and as a result, I have decided to cancel my membership and recommend that others look for alternative workout options.

I have had an LA Fitness membership for 3 yrs. I added a membership for the HIIT classes 2 yrs ago. I love the HIIT classes but the internet is ALWAYS down and you don’t get credit for your workouts until it’s works again. Also the stereo system and microphones don’t work as well as. Management has no since of urgency to fix things and do not care about the members. It’s all about the money. Currently trying to figure out my next move because I’m tired of giving my money away for services I don’t receive.

They have had someone for months stealing from the locker room, breaking locks, prying open lockers etc. Per the operations manager there is no use in viewing the tapes as stolen items are probably just going in their bag.
