I work for the airlines and travel extensively. I usually pay for day passes over hotel gyms as my needs are not covered by most hotel gyms. Some of the reviews here make me laugh. This Gym is excellently maintained. I did not see one piece of equipment that was out of service or needed maintenance. The gym floor was clean, the Men’s bathroom was well maintained and clean. People complaining about not racked weights or dumbbells all over the place don’t understand that is a member issue not a management issue. I spoke with the gym manager, Roger, he is a very professional well spoken and knowledgable manager and is doing a great job. Great gym I will be back.

Came back to this gym and it honestly feels like home. The pool, the sauna, the jacuzzi, all the equipment — everything is here. I went on a Sunday and it was almost empty, super quiet. Really enjoying it, the perfect place to train and relax.

First off, I'd like to say this isn't my main LA Fitness. However, I do/did frequent it(MOCKINGBIRD location) over the years.

I can't help but notice the amount of men that utilize the women's locker room!

Whenever I address this concern to management, they never seem to care.

this facility is small, outdated, humid and frequently unclean. the staff is somewhere between uninterested and rude. well... arrogant mostly. I've been to others sites in town, this one is the worst.

Update: They’ve taken half of the cardio area and made it free weight/ trainer space. The entire first floor is now 2/3 trainer space. Just now there were 15 people using the tiny crowded and worn out cardio space and 1 person in the dominant training area. Also they’ve taken to blasting silly pop music when nearly everyone is wearing ear buds. Wear noise canceling ear buds you say. They’ve got the irritating music so loud that the safety limits on the buds are triggered and all you can hear is the overhead and in the dropped ceiling downstairs it’s right in your face. Every time I come back here I regret it.

My husband and I just had the worst experience of my life trying to sign up for a gym membership and was verbally threatened by a sales manager named Tabitha. GM Rogers really made my day today. He asked if I wanted to retake my picture (I’ve lost 90 lbs since the first). He showed me my old and I took a new one. It felt great for someone to recognize the work I’ve done. There was not judgement of weight but just good genuine and honest advocate for those doing their best. It can be hard going to a gym sometimes, feeling like people judge you for not already being in shape… but not with him. The gym is for everyone and he celebrates you for doing whatever you do there and at any fitness level. Thank you!

This gym is one of the nicer La Fitnesses I’ve been to. Nice equipment, staff is good. The only problem is the sauna in the men’s locker room, especially Sundays. It’s always packed with guys trying to cruise on each other and has been shared on apps as a “hookup spot.” This is why we can’t have nice things.

I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness member since the early 2000s, but this location is by far one of the worst I’ve encountered. There seems to be a lack of consistent staffing—weights are left all over the gym, with only about half actually racked. The locker room looks like it hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned since the gym opened in 2012, and the showers are consistently dirty. Even worse, there’s a noticeable roach problem in both the showers and locker room areas.

If I didn’t work at the nearby hospital, I’d absolutely take my membership elsewhere. If LA Fitness is going to invest in a remodel, they should also prioritize basic cleanliness, pest control, and proper gym maintenance. This location needs more than just cosmetic fixes—it needs leadership and accountability.

I only use this gym for the pool, and I've been going for about a week now. It's really, really gross. The hot tub is barely room temperature. The pool itself is freezing, the floor is disgusting - the floor and the walls of the pool have grime caked on to it and I have seen live roaches in there. I still go, because it's all i have access to, but I have to mention these things hoping change will happen.

Please heat the main pool, and make the hot tub actually hot. Those floors need to be replaced. Not cleaned - REPLACED. The pool itself needs to be drained, de-tiled, and completely renewed. There is so much nasty grime on the walls and at the bottom of the pool. No one goes in there but me and a class of kids on occassion, so it's no surprise people aren't talking about it. But please take my criticism seriously.

Super nasty. Emphasis on the barely room temperature hot tub btw. I saw a grown man (in denim jeans mind you) walk into the hot tub, stand there for a few seconds, audibly groan at the lukewarmness of the water, stand up, and leave. This place is like the twilight zone, I swear.

Also the mens showers are repulsive. Imagine everything I said about how grimey the pool was but worse PLUS black mold. Genuinely who is running this place?

Gym was fine. I however needed to cancel my membership and they are just absolutely the rudest people on the phone! I explained I work until 3-3:30 and the woman said oh nobody is here that late. The daycare center for children is very dirty. My baby stayed there for less than an hour, and when I picked him up, his knees and hands were very dirty. This is concerning and needs to be addressed for the safety and comfort of the kids.

I suffered a massive heart attack and found it necessary to cancel my gym membership.

From a HOSPITAL BED, I called the mockingbird location, and asked to cancel. I was told I needed to come to the location and cancel in person. I explained my situation, and asked to speak to a manager, but was asked to visit the closest LA Fitness location. When I reiterated, briefly, that I was in a hospital, the person on the other line promptly hung up on me.

Two weeks later I visited the gym in person. I asked to speak with the manager, so I could cancel and hopefully share my frustrations.

The young man who claimed to be the manager was possibly one of the most unprofessional and unqualified people I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Not only was he dismissive of my complaints, but when pressed, challenged me directly. He asked me why we were even having the conversation, as he had effectively cancelled the membership. I suggested he view the situation from my perspective, and that going to any location, physically, after a major medical procedure presented an unnecessary burden. Instead of lending an ear, or even giving a suggestion of an apology, he was defensive, bellicose, and passive aggressive.

Beyond this terrible interaction, I can honestly say I never enjoyed going to this gym during my 2+ years of membership. The facilities are unclean, the pool over chlorinated, and the staff unfriendly. During my time there, 2 separate women related that they were constantly dealing with harassment while trying to work out.

I would absolutely suggest to upper management that they clean house, but I know that’s not likely. At any rate, this location has ensured that I never give this company another dime.

The gym floor is disorganized and poorly maintained. Weights are never where they’re supposed to be, and the dumbbell racks aren’t labeled, so you end up wasting time just looking for matching pairs. Cable attachments and other accessories are scattered or missing, and no one seems responsible for keeping things in order.

At other LA Fitness locations, there’s usually staff actively cleaning the gym floor and locker rooms throughout the day. Other locations showers are cleaned twice a day, but at the Mockingbird location, I don't know that I've ever seen them cleaned.

The equipment could use an upgrade, with several machines feeling outdated or overused (no one likes the body weight machines that feel more like a carnival ride than a workout) During busy times, it’s overcrowded and chaotic, making it hard to get a good workout in.

On the plus side, the staff is friendly, and the remodeled locker rooms are a nice improvement, but those few positives don’t make up for the day-to-day inconveniences.

Worst gym I’ve ever been to in my entire life. Absolutely shook that this place is still running and people actually pay for it. First time today will also be my last. The entire place is absolutely filthy, doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned in eons. The machines are EXTREMELY OUTDATED and many are broken/run-down. For how much we’re paying, why is everything from like 1990? It’s a billion degrees in there which apparently is the norm. But my biggest issue is the amount of equipment compared to people. There is absolutely no way to get your workout done during peak hours. There were five benches. FIVE!!!! When I mentioned this to the front desk staff, he shrugged and said sorry, idk what to tell you. So I contacted Brian, the program director, because he had reached out to welcome me. Get this: he told me to LAY ON THE FLOOR!!! Ha. This whole place is such a joke. I came from Planet Fitness and moved here because it was closer to my new job: PF is HALF the price and actually has enough machines to use, ALL of their machines are brand new and well maintained, and it’s super clean. For double the price of PF, you get a filthy, outdated, overcrowded gym! Nah, absolutely not. I am not paying $50/mo to “lay on the (filthy) floor.” Going back to PF. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!

I like LA Fitness, and have been a member since hs. However, I will say that but I will say that the quality of the experience really depends on the location.. I went to the Mockingbird location for a few months since it was the most convenient half way point for me and a friend when we were lifting together. But I just couldn't do it anymore. I know it's no Equinox, but gahlee this location is bad. The bathrooms are disgusting and it’s always crowded so waiting for squat racks, benches, and other popular machines is a pain. Plus, there’s no basketball court. Not a deal breaker, but I do enjoy joining pick up games from time to time. If this was the only LA Fitness around, I’d cancel my membership in a heartbeat.

I have had a Signature Club membership for over 10 years in two different states, and the only reason I go to this gym is the location. I recently moved to the west side of Highland Park and this location is the easiest to get to. This gym needs to be cleaned badly. The mirrors in the free weight area still have the same body smudges and spit marks since I started working out at this location back in December. The floors around all of the equipment-machines and free weights is dirty, dusty and have not been vacuumed or mopped since I switched clubs. Last month I had an asthma attack due to the dust and dirt around the benches in the free weight area and had to end my workout early to go home and use my inhaler. I let the assistant ops manager know this and he said he would bring it up to his boss. As far as I can see, nothing has been done. The floors still have the same dust, dirt and stains and there's still the same smudges and spit on the mirrors. I understand this club may be short staffed, however they can borrow staff from other clubs to help out at least once a week.

I like the location of this club, however if condition of the club doesn't improve, I will cancel my membership and find another club that's more suitable to join.

Most unclean and worst managed gym I think I know of. Unclean; someone brought their dog and then start taking selfies with dog while serious lifters are trying to work out. There were no employee watching the shop. Multiple car break ins and stolen vehicles from the parking lot. Your dues do not get the equipment or facility updated. Recommendation: Take your service to Absolute Recomp gym instead

First of all, the bathrooms and sauna are really gross and are not maintained. The lifting area on top is not maintained either and usually have cleaning wipes out of stock for multiple parts. I have never seen a team member on top floor in my ~4 months of going there.

Second, worker yelled at me from the bottom for deadlifting too hard/loud.

Third, when signing up they have "activation fee", "yearly fee", and make you pay first and last month at same time. Even if you were previous la fitness member they make you repay activation fee.

Fourth, they make it frustrating to cancel membership. I had gone on Saturday to cancel and they told me I need a manager to be there to cancel and to cancel online, or in person 9-5 on weekday. Was not able to cancel online since says I need to register for account in person. Not able to cancel through the app either, so had to come in person on weekday to cancel.

Lastly, they scammed my brother and the representative told him he didn't have to pay yearly fee if he signed up, and they charged him $65 for it two weeks later. When he went to refute, they told him the paperwork says he agreed to yearly fee so it doesn't matter what the representative said.

This place has gone downhill, particularly in the men's locker room area. If the 8 showers, 2 have been out of commission for several weeks. Of the 6 remaining showers, several have missing soap dispensers, so you're out of luck if you didn't bring your own soap. There's usually a long wait to take a shower. This is a good LA Fitness central area in Dallas. Some of the equipment was a little older and the pool was freezing cold compared to other LA fitnesses, but everything worked fine minus hot tub could use a fixing as the bubbles barely came out. I joined this gym mainly to use the pool and was pleasantly surprised to find that they offered a free fitness assessment. Brennen was kind, helpful, and clearly very knowledgeable about personal fitness. I also appreciated Ken's help with signing up for the membership.

I can't speak to the quality of the gym equipment because I've used nothing apart from the personal training equipment during the few exercises I did with Brennen, but the pool is great despite only having 3 lanes. I'd definitely recommend this location due to their excellent customer service!

What a bad experience of management today I choose one star because that is the minimum rating available. As a member for more than three years today when i went there for my workout I was not allowed inside. I went there with my friend I forgot my mobile in my car so I went back to get it by that time my friend enter the GYM when I tried to enter door was locked. I was knocking the door thinking it was locked by mistake. The staff on duty was busy on his mobile doesn't bother to look. When few more members arrived and also start knocking the door the staff come and said we are closed. When asked the reason he said we are doing cleaning so closing early. When I asked what time you will close as people inside still working out he said at 10 pm which is a regular time on Friday to close. I told him that is a regular timing so why we are not allowed as per him his Manager said locked the doors at 9pm. Funny thing is me and my friend come together to work out he enter 30 seconds before me he is allowed to work out till 10pm and I can not enter. BY that time there were other members keep coming around 20 people all were denied entry with the same stupid reason of cleaning after 10pm. So, basically who ever come to the GYM before 9pm can enter and workout till regular Friday timing of 10pm. There was no prior information given before and nothing on the website. The staff did not even bother to write reason on the piece of paper and stick out side the door where as all the member who come after 9pm standing out side the door & knocking the door. I did not understand the logic of denying entry after 9pm to the members where as the GYM is still open and operating on his regular timing. Lack of communication. That stupid genius Manager who come up with that bright idea to lock the door at 9pm please give him my compliments for his superior Managerial skill and he should be nominated for the "Employ of the month". Who don't consider the efforts of the member who come all the way to the GYM from different location to give you business. LA Fitness is a brand it is high time to hire qualified and professional people who maintain the standard and reputation of the brand. Or someone can educate me that why when the GYM is operating normal timing and member who are inside can workout till 10pm and members who come at 9 or after 9pm can not enter when the cleaning is after 10pm WHY??????? Will think twice in future to recommend any one LA fitness.

One of the worst gyms I’ve been to. Staff is friendly and polite, that’s the only reason they get two stars, and that’s being generous. There is a decent amount of equipment but don’t even bother trying during rush hour. There’s way too many people in such a little space. Any time equipment breaks down, it takes a long time for it to be repaired. I tried making this my regular gym but I changed my mind immediately. The sauna is gross, I’ve seen roaches in there multiple times. There is a hole in the floor that they cover with a mat, definitely a tripping hazard. The showers just look disgusting. I see them clean it regularly, but the place just needs a remodel. The worst aspect is the gym etiquette in the men’s locker room and sauna. If you’re a minor or are bringing a minor, do not let them in the male locker room. It’s so common to see males walk around the room fully naked, the worst part is they usually have a towel in hand. They will also sit in the sauna fully naked. In the showers, they don’t even bother closing the curtain. The sight of male genitalia is everywhere. There is no avoiding it, literally. There has not been one instance where I have gone in there and I have not seen male genitalia. I’ve been to plenty of gyms in plenty of states and cities, and this by far, is the worst in locker room etiquette.

Staff is sweet and amazing but my issue is with the lack of keeping up with equipment. All the mats are torn and old, the membership is so expensive that i would expect them to upgrade these things regularly. Ive had a membership at planet fitness and they take better care of their gyms and charge much less. There is simply no excuse. And while on the topic of prices, i feel the daycare should come with the membership.

This gym has all the gear you need, but it's dirty and messy, and peak hours are a total madhouse with way too many people. It's a real struggle to get a decent workout in during those times. The amount of people they let in is ridiculous.

I’ve been a member of this gym for 4 or 5 years now- I had a family member visiting and the gym told them/me that because I did paperwork at the expensive location down the street I cannot invite my friend to this location… their rules make no sense. And frankly their customer service is absolutely rock bottom. The gym is dirty. The equipment is worn out and just feels like it’s been well used with ripped pads and rubbed down paint broken ropes and stuff that just a normal level of service wouldn’t include. I’m just genuinely disgusted at how poorly they train their staff and take care of their guests. I had to join the gym across the street to invite my traveling friend to the gym… like… how pathetic…. Is that….

I'd like to recount my ongoing disappointment with LA Fitness, specifically regarding their child services, which I've been paying extra for. Prior to the recent closure of the kids' corner on September 16, 2023, I've consistently felt let down.

This repeated occurrence has left me feeling not only disappointed but also undervalued as a paying customer. I believe that if LA Fitness is going to offer child services as part of their membership package, they should ensure consistent and reliable service. It's disheartening to pay extra for a service that I rarely get to use effectively.

Always very hot and humid. Not sure if they use the AC but it definitely doesn’t feel like it. Very crowded and don’t expect any of the staff to greet you coming in or leaving. They also put rope around the “personal training” area 24/7 which sucks because you cant use any equipment in that area. Overall not worth the money. The only reason I have/had my membership was because it’s unfortunately the closest gym to where I live.

*** update: the staff has become much more friendly and they will randomly have the personal training area open which are both huge pluses. However be aware it is still really hot in there and very crowded. They’re also discontinuing childcare and appears will be replacing that area with recovery/cryo room instead.

I stopped by for the first time at this location which is close to my work. I have just moved from out of state. When I checked in, there were issues with my membership that I had no idea about. Michael helped me with incredible kindness and took it upon himself to sort it out even calling with a follow up late in the day to let me know. He was so nice and professional and wanted to find a solution for me. People like him are a true asset to an organization.

Everything was fine when I joined the gym, but then the soap dispensers were changed to ones that hardly dispense any soap and many times they are broken or missing from the wall.  They only get replaced with other ones that do the same thing and lead to the same result.

About a week ago, multiple soap dispensers were changed.  It seemed like they were a little better but it was hard to tell, yet they are removed again in 3 showers.
I would like to remain constructive, but I feel disrespected as a human being, no longer enjoy coming there and have a much cheaper view of the brand. One shower had garbage in it when I arrived and shower curtain appeared moldy (photo next time).

Overall decent gym, only 5 minutes away from home. Wish the workers would tell people to put weights back where they go. Also the gym seems to always be hot and humid. Only cools off about two hours before closing. The staff is friendly though.

Cute medium size gym, I’d give a 5 but this gym doesn’t have a turf area and their biggest space, the dance room, is taken up by group classes majority of the time. The staff is friendly.

Suggestion! Use the kids room as a multi-purpose room, place grass turf in there with a sled machine, kettle bells and battle ropes. Shut down babysitting at 5 pm to handle the after work crowd better.
