Disappointing gym compared to other LA fitness. Rusty equipment, every other machine is out due to maintenance. Only 2 stair masters available and 2 for the personal trainer section and both are due for maintenance figures. Small section to be able to stretch. Cup holders on equipments are dirty. This LA is overdue for an upgrade.

Ok so I briefly joined this location. Poor management GM totally not interested in gaining business or helping his customers. Told a different price for add on over the phone only to get there and they wouldn’t honor it. Cardio machines broke everywhere no more towel service I cancelled my membership the same day.

Between one and two swim lanes are reserved for kids swim classes during the week on peek hours. LA Fitness could save a lot of money by not having two to three people at their reception. No one ever greets you or thanks you for visiting. They are too busy being on their personal phones or talking with each other.

I love that they have sanitizing stations and if you go early in the morning there aren’t a ton of people there if you want to social distance. Masks aren’t required, but you can wear it if you would like.

I signed up because I thought all LA Fitness locations maintained some level of quality, but that is far from the truth at this location. This biggest issue is the extreme lack of hygienic practices. The men's locker room is by far, the worst smelling I have ever experienced and I have been to dozens of gyms. I swear it gets worse every time I come in. Someone literally brought a candle and lit it by the sink today to try to drown out the smell, but was absolutely overpowered by the stench. The dirty moist mildew scent emanating from the lockers and carpets is unbearable.
I haven't seen a single person who looks like a manager to talk to about this. The only employees I've seen are the front desk workers who literally don't know where anything is, and the personal trainers who are the only redeeming quality about this gym.
Don't even get me started about the lack of standard equipment.

I was charged $180 for my membership and personal training even though my account is frozen and I can’t even use the service because we’re in the middle of a pandemic with 5,000 cases a day in Texas. I called this location to figure out what happened and how I can avoid future charges. The manager, Elise, was very disrespectful, unhelpful, and rude. She did not answer my questions and she talked over me. I sent an email to corporate and I will be reporting her through all the possible channels. I just wanted to freeze my account but now I will be cancelling and I will NEVER use la fitness again. Terrible customer service.

I'm not sure what has happened recently at LA Fitness, but I been a member since 2015 and have visited many locations thoughout the DFW. I called this location today regarding my membership and left a message with the front desk staff. Later today, I get an email that my membership has been canceled. I called back and apparently the Operations Manager had my name in a LIST of people that had called in to cancel their memberships. I told her no, that that wasn't the reason I called. She laughed it off and said she could reactivate it by adding my credit card to the account. I told her didn't want to double pay, I had just paid my membership 2 weeks ago. She said it wouldn't charge me, so I gave her one of my debit cards I use vigilantly where I transfer funds as needed. I guess she ran it and said it wasn't going through. I asked her what is she trying to do. Then she said, well we need to charge you another $32 to reset it up. I told her I paid for a month already. I asked her if it would be better to stop by or call corporate, she laughed it off and gave me their phone number. I mean, who is running this place. Terrible customer service. Place is going down the drain. Guess I'll have to find another home gym. Now just trying to get my money back for two weeks. We'll see how corporate responds.

Solid spot, they've got an older layout but it's clean and they've got what you need for a good workout. Towels during and/or after a workout are a plus. I've met some friendly people here during workouts or pickup games.

Only suggestion would be to clean the showers more regularly, the bathrooms and hallways are clean. Each individual shower would benefit from a quick run through every other day or so.

This location needs a major update! The cardio machines do not work well. The treadmill belts are lose. The rowing machines there are a complete joke, they are hanging on by a literal thread. The equipment is significantly outdated and is in desperate need of replacement. I am overall not happy with this location. I am going to drive the extra few minutes to a different location.

The gym is great and the facility is very clean. The management is awful. I cancelled my membership, but I am still getting charged. I called and spoke to an employee, and she told me that they never actually cancelled my account. Apparently, they asked a manager to close the account, but she just never did it. The employee told me they couldn’t guarantee I get my money back even though I did everything correctly on my end and cancelled my membership before the deadline. I don’t like writing negative reviews, especially when the business is clean and provides good services, but this is ridiculous and unprofessional. I won’t be recommending this gym to anyone in the future.

I regularly go to three LA Fitness gyms in the Dallas area. This gym, located in Preston near 635, is the poorest of the three. For starters, the gym equipment is outdated and poorly maintained. There’s also a ton of missing equipment for the cable machines. The staff is extremely friendly. However, the gym is quite dirty compared to other locations.

The Men’s locker room is carpeted. The carpet is disgusting and smells horrible. The smell actually stays on my work clothes. It sucks. Again, the locker room/shower is pretty gross compared to the Carrollton/Plano location and the Garland location off of 635 (which is by far the nicest gym of the three).

UPDATE 2019: The place is now crime ridden and your car will be broken into, and the impassive gym crew will tell you they cannot show you the surveillance tapes -and they won't- nor be responsible for anything that gets stolen from you. Plus, law enforcement priorities are not necessarily to investigate vandalized cars nor thefts, so you are on your own.
I don't know how complicated it is to sanitize a dressing room but in PRESTON, as opposed to the other ones available in the area, it seems it is impossible to get rid of the foul smell. I've been going for almost a year now, and it doesn't seem they'll fix it.

Place has a difficult entrance from Preston Road -Especially during peak hours-. It is decent sized, big parking lot, good equipment, most of the treadmills have seen their better years and still they work just fine, weights are a no-loss, but I have to agree with some of the other reviewers here that those maintenance fellas leave a lot to be desired: The locker rooms look -and smell- filthy, the sauna reeks a sweaty rancid armpit-like smell -awful, MANAGEMENT: YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, URGENTLY. SERIOUSLY-, and usually the soap and paper towel dispensers are empty, and the carpets look like a diesel rain showered on top of them -they look filthy-.
Richardson's LA Fitness has just been recently renewed -2018-. This place should follow through. Remove the carpets and put waterproof, slip-proof floors. It's easier to clean up and it remains clean for a whole lotta time more than a carpet.
Other than that, this is a good place to workout. 3 out of 5.

I only joined because the location is convenient the staff is nice , but the Machines are worn out and old. Be careful with the trainers they gave me a free session with my new membership I would highly encourage you to pass on that because the trainers are rude and unprofessional he tried to sale me a $260 plan to train me and help me reach weight goal faster and then became rude and defensive when I turned it down. It was a very uncomfortable conversation and I almost canceled my membership because of it, luckily they are a totally different company and have nothing to do with La fitness so I kept my membership. Overall the gym is ok but the equipment is old and the pools are dirty.

I’ve been a member at LA fitness and worked out in over a dozen of them across the country for the past two years.
I went to this LA Fitness because, ironically, the hot tub in my hotel if you minutes away was broken. The workout equipment was nice, the gym is selfless rather clean, and they had carpet in the locker room – which looks nice, but I’m not sure of the cleanliness. At least you can tell when the tile floor is dirty.
The hot tub here is not very good. The benches are too shallow, and the Jets are rather weak and poorly located.
And the main reason I am a member at LA fitness is for their hot tub and sauna, both of which relieve my chronic issues with pain.
The reason I rated two stars was for the absolutely disgusting sauna. Saunas are made out of wood, and they absorb odors. They require rather frequent maintenance to maintain their cleanliness and, more specifically, make sure they don’t ever, ever smell like this one. I don’t even know how to describe it. The closest description I can come to is it smelled like my sons hockey equipment and hockey bag. That is, it is clear that the sauna has not been cleaned nor maintained in a very, very, VERY long time and smelled like a mix of old hockey equipment and fecal matter. A simple procedure of spraying down the walls With pine or cedar sent or even having things with pine or cedar scent or even having things.
I’ll bet it doesn’t take 10 minutes to do the whole thing, and the supplies might cost you 10 or $12.

I'm here often. I have a statewide membership, so I visit several locations in Dallas. This location here on Preston is fine. The machines are older compared to the ones at the Richardson location, but more updated than the ones at the Webb Chapel location. I have no complaints. Everything I need always works. Something should be done about that abandoned space where I guess a juice bar used to be.

When you join a gym you expect a certain level of professionalism with the staff. BUT NOT LA FITNESS #HATEISNOTGREAT! I am sick of being harassed by the front desk because my husband and I (yes we are legally married) are on the same membership. Take time to train your staff and make sure the people who deal with your members are not HOMOPHOBIC! THIS IS 2019! If you are looking for a good gym and think LA Fitness is a good choice review the contract for hidden fees and compare the cost to other gyms. I have been a member of LA Fitness for many years and it seems lately they are more HOMOPHOBIC AND UNPROFESSIONAL THAN EVER BEFORE! Everyone deserves to be treated with respect NOT HATE!

Vincent has made the experience of having a trainer the best thing in the world, for someone who had never been a gym person, who was supper chubby and not confident working out, Vincent helped me in so many ways. He is a amazing trainer, friend, and coach. I couldn’t of had been luckier to find him. He motivates me when I’m down and always knows how to keep me pumped. I live 35 minutes away and have another LA fitness 4 minutes away from home, but I do not mind the commute just to be able to come train with Vincent.
