Honestly I am very disappointed that this gym is permanently closing but it might be a good thing! The owner has done a terrible job managing this gym. They fired Maria the cleaning lady and since then this gym has gone down bad. The only thing that kept me going here is Pam in the front desk early morning, she is so nice. I will miss her dearly. I was a big fan of this but I have had it the front desk person who works at night she always closes the locker room at 1050pm and at 1055pm she is telling everyone that the gym is now close and to exit the gym. How is that possible if the schedule says that it closes at 11pm Monday to Thursday. As paying members we should be able to use the gym for the allowed time. Is always the same thing I been a member for more than a year and she always closes the gym before the actual closing time.
The equipment is a bit old but it works however when something does brake drown they do take a long time to fix. For example the Sauna...

Absolutely disappointing gym. I had so much hope for it as it is considered a “premium” gym. Just a premium waste of money because the cost is the only thing premium about it. Sauna has been broken for over 3 months and all we are given excuse after excuse. Machines break and they also take too long to fix them. The manager replied to a review on another platform that she was going to call me and it’s been over a month and I am still waiting because she certainly is never available when you call or ask for her at the gym. Set your expectations so low when you decide to go here and you might still be disappointed. The only thing pleasant is the newer looking machines vs 24hr fitness but anytime fitness and plat fitness have them beat there.

The manager Erin with the big hair and big nasty attitude at the front has let the gym go down. she don’t like to fix anything and when we complain she blame us members. I have been a member for over 15 years and this is the worst I have seen this gym!! It smells bad, never clean and all she do is talk men all day long. I don’t see how she is a manager of this club. Long story short it's not a bad gym, it has what's needed but could be way better. But will be leaving LA after 9 years of being their to go to EOS which many people have done. Will break it down pro's vs con's for anyone who has time to read below. Anyone who gave it 5 stars isn't being legit.

Pro's
-The people who go their are actually good people
-Besides rush hour, equipment normally free
-One of the few gyms that has a pool, basketball court, and sauna (which is very warm, so you'll enjoy that), which you don't have to pay $50 a month for.
-Some gym's feel like a trap house, blasting rap music and loud and ghetto. LA is calm
-The staff has always been respectful and polite to me, never had a problem with anyone.

Con's
-Many people have mentioned it but I have to, the bathroom's are disgusting. Theirs mold in the showers, the toilets look like they carry some disease. And it stinks.
- The locker room could use a facelift(tbh the whole gym could), Not one thing has changed in that locker room since I've been there.
- You can see the wear and tear on the equipment
- The GM doesn't seem to concerned about overall uplifting the gym, if you compare this LA to any of the other LA's in a 60 mile radius we'd have to be bottom 3.
-The pricing is a little bit pricy, I believe the cheapest membership is like 25 bucks and I can only go to that one, and I can't bring a friend. At EOS for $30 I can go to any gym I want and bring someone.
-Not too big of a deal, but EOS is also open 24 hours, even on weekends. SUPER CLUTCH

Duncanville LA Fitness is the BEST out of ALL the LA FITNESSES I have been in, and I have been in most of them around the world.

I have been a member since 1990. Work out 5 days a week.

This location is less crowded on Sundays and after 830pm during the week.
Always clean in the bathroom.

Some days around prime hours it gets crowded by the free weights with people manipulating more than one machine. (On one and keeping their stuff by another. It's RUDE, and NOT ACCEPTABLE, EVER. )

This is a problem across ALL LA FITNESS clubs I have been in, yet in Duncanville, everyone seems to share and get along well, I will add.

We ALL pay to be members. If you want a private gym then buy one for your home. If you want to rotate between machines, then I suggest you go at a time when there are fewer people there.

You are a MEMBER, you do NOT own the equipment.

I WILL SAY the people at this location are a lot friendlier than the many I have been in... the best I've seen since the early 90's.

Duncanville is the NUMBER ONE LA FITNESS in my book!

I’ve been reluctant to join this gym for years, but my job recently got OnePass through our insurance and I was able to join under that premise. But my ideals still stand, this place isn’t clean. I came here for a week straight and the same candy wrapper is on the floor along with other remnants that describe the cleanliness of this place. Yes, there are people to “clean” the place but they’re not doing a sufficient job. The task of finding disinfectant wipes is tough as it is, so I’m going to bring my own. I did approach a team member to let them know prior to leaving a review but it’s clear it won’t change because the floor is still filthy. I’ve been going to the location on Illinois and it’s much cleaner, their staff service sucks but at least it’s clean.

On the positive side of things, the sauna is great. They have all of the free and machine weight equipment, basketball court, cafe, racquetball courts and an aerobics studio. They have everything you need on your fitness journey, with a sprinkle of germs and uncleanliness.

Horrid management. Some of the rudest staff of any club I have ever visited or been a member of over many decades of interaction. This location's operations manager was simply disgusting and portrayed some of the worst customer service skills I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. She was just horrid. I contacted the corporate office and they weren't happy with her actions, at all. She needs to be retrained, disciplined, or terminated. Corporate assured me the situation would be addressed. I work out at many LA fitnesses and this has been the worst so far. It has the dirtiest bathroom. Disgusting. Latches broken on bathroom doors, showers are filthy, and toilets have never been cleaned. Also the crowds that go here are unfriendly. The front desk guy was half asleep and unfriendly too. The class room with the new wooden floor should be better maintained. The Floor is always stained and dirty. Please consider that there are Yoga classes in that room and people are with matts on the floor. Cleaning twice per week is not enough to keep the floor clean and hygiene.

Unfortunately, the stepp boards still haven't been exchanged.
In Addition, the wood floor in the Main exercise area is the biggest mess. After the floor was redone, the wax chipps off all over the floor. We have it on our shoes and on our floor matts, it can't even be kept clean enough b/c the wax keeps chipping off.
The Manager is always nice, but action finally need to be taken. The Corporate office needs to finally step up to get this place in order.
We all pay our monthly fees on time, please keep this in mind.

I am extremely disappointed in this place, my small children were in the locker room with their mother because the childcare closed early and they had her come to get them, she was in the stall when the cleaning lady grabbed my son and daughter and took them outside the building, my wife was panicked running all over looking for them, the gym is huge btw, when she finally found them outside she reported it to the manager Darryl and he told her "you people" think you can break the rules, my wife called me she was crying, we never went back there.

A business MUST always stay OPEN until the last SECOND of the hours posted of said establishment. Staff is always rushing members. Always kicking members out early. Not the best thing to do when members spend a lot of money for membership to LA Fitness. They should not be allowed to kick out members until the actual time to close. The last hour should be allowed to workout, we pay for the membership therefore we should stay until the last minute of that hour. It does NOT take more than one minute to gather our belongings and walk a very SHORT distance to the doors. The gym has automated messages playing to let us know the time. Members are always aware of the time, surely not all members will be pushing the boundaries trying to stay way past the time of business hours.

I've been a member for years. The staff are professional and nice at the front desk. My problem is with the cleaning of the building. They have made no upgrades to thus location ever. The showers are dirty. Always trash laying around. Sinks and toilets stay broken. Some showers don't work that previously worked. I have pictures of the showers that haven't been scrubbed in years. I heard this is the highest grossing la fitness in the country. So why would this location be dirty and neglected for so long. I feel because it has majority black clients. The ones located on the white sides of town do not get neglected like this. I will find somewhere else to spend my $30 a month. Showers are so dirty you can leave fingerprints. This is wrong for elders whose immune system isn't so strong. They can get infections. It's totally unacceptable. EoS here I come.

LA Fitness personnel trainner contract is a scam, since I started in the first few weeks they have changed five different trainers and on top of that those trainers work not show up on time so r they would leave early, and some days they didn’t show up and every time they say they would fix it and they never did so I ask to cancel my contract and the person that works in La sent an email but they kept taking money from my credit card called corporate and spoke to David song and he said that he refused to cancel the contract, I threatened to go to court but they seemed not worried

I spent two consecutive workout sessions here, and I was pleasantly impressed. It was on a Friday and a Saturday before closing times. The staff is pleasantly inviting. You will definitely meet others that aspire for the same results. My only issue is the constant nastiness of the ladies locker room and restroom area. That's both the company and clients fault. The women are disgusting to say the least and the representatives aren't cleaning it around the clock, unfortunately. But I can't blame the cleaning staff. I wouldn't want to do it either. Women with no sense of cleanliness... just does something to me.

Hard to justify the price with so many low-cost options, and having to pay a yearly fee.

I want to say first and foremost that the staff has always been nothing but kind and welcoming to me. It is always nice to get greeted by name. To me this sounds like a budget issue from corporate or poor management.

This gym is just… stuck in the early 2000s. Walk through the cardio aisle when it’s busy and you’ll hear creaking on a few machines. Get on any of the super old treadmills and you’ll feel a layer of oil/grime on the handles and caked-on residue on the cupholders.

The restrooms are pretty gross as well. The stalls are rusting and it feels claustrophobically unventilated. Everything just feels old. For almost $40 a month, I suppose I can’t justify it.

The guys’ sauna is just…. no point in even describing it. The stench is so bad it’s basically unusable. The jacuzzi is also super gross all the time.

Also, how do you guys not have WiFi lol

Anyway… love the staff but this place isn’t worth it. Planet Fitness or any local rec center is 1/3 the price and has newer equipment, and usually always spotless.

I truly don’t understand all the bad reviews about this location. The process that they go through to help us understand the benefits of truly living a healthy lifestyle was eye opening. Darryl and Giovanni were a great help when it came down to handling me and my fitness goals. Honestly, it just sounds to me like a few people came in and didn’t get their way so they decided to leave negative review but I for one have seen the improvement that management has made over the years. KEEP IT UP YOU GUYS DONT LET ANYTHING HOLD YOU BACK!!!

I love the classes (Tosaha, Kimberly and Nikki are the bomb). I love the staff everyone I have came in contact with are friendly, kind and courteous. I love working out at this gym. I look forward to Monday’s, Wednesdays and Saturday classes.

***DO NOT RECOMMEND*** New to the area and was planning to sign up for a membership but after having been given a tour by a rude, misogynist, I quickly had a change of heart. Although the facilities did look decent, the staff was a huge disappointment. Especially the General Manager Darryl Smith. I'd rather spend my money where it is appreciated. I can’t believe they have someone with such horrible customer services skills running this faculty. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

I enjoyed working out here, but the staff isn’t very friendly or helpful at all. I went to the front desk to advise that I needed cleaning equipment and Darryl Smith was extremely rude and unprofessional and lacks customer service skills. LA fitness is one of the highest costing gyms, I don’t think customers should have to deal with anything other than exceptional 5 star customer service. The way I was treated, I felt like I was at planet fitness.

Great experience I went in for a consultation/tour with Ryan he was a great help he explained everything to me about my weight loss journey he made me feel comfortable and help me become a member without making me feel pressured and Darryl the manager is the best I have seen in a while he gave excellent customer service look forward to coming in every day

Darryl Smith is one of the rudest people you will ever come across. I was going to sign up at this along with family members and friends.
After my experience we will be taking our business to Fitness Connection. I should have read the reviews because a lot of the 1 star that this location has received a lot pertain to Darryl Smith and his rude attitude. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well
