I have attended 2 aqua fit classes with Phyllis in highland village. My first visit, I was new, didn’t know what to expect, or who the instructor was…etc. I was not greeted with a friendly welcome. In fact, she never introduced herself. She did ask me if I was here for the aqua fit class , I responded yes. She then headed to the other end of the pool. I put two and two together and figured out that she was the instructor. She did not talk to me after that or ask me if I had questions , even though obviously I didn’t know what certain movements were or how to do them. I winged it and kept up as best I could. My complaint is that she knew I was new , but did not offer to help by showing me how to do the exercises and explaining them. She was not nice or helpful.
I am now attending the gym in Denton, and going to the aqua fit class with Therese. Let me tell you , it was like night and day! Therese knew that I was new, she introduced herself to me and explained in detail every exercise as we went along. She was kind, friendly and very helpful.

This site is constantly letting organized basketball teams (players and coaches) use the court for extended hours, especially recently. It wouldn’t be such a problem if they’d advertise it on the app like they do with class schedules but they don’t. It’s always a surprise when you go with a couple of friends thinking you can get some shots up or play some pickup ball to be informed “they have the court”. Besides that it’s your typical LA fitness. Staff is nice. Has all the necessary machines and weights. Lockerooms are hit or miss with cleanliness. Sauna could use some maintenance and a deep clean. There also seems to be a longer than normal turnaround time on getting things fixed when they break.

I rally want to like this club but they really need to clean up their place. It’s old and dirty. Machines are usually dirty and old plus the men’s sauna is a nightmare. It’s dirty, smelly and worn off. Metals screws are all over place, so burning yourself in sauna is pretty common. It needs to be renovated asap. One good thing about their sauna is that it’s almost always working, unlike other locations.

I usually go to the lewisville one but this location is wayy better! The water filter is always clean, the restrooms are clean, and none of the machines are broken and ready to use. I love the Staff they are super nice especially Randi, Serene, and Matthew are the best people they always bring good energy to the gym !!

Since Luis and Minerva were assigned to work at highland village location the gym is always clean; and that was one of the reasons I was going to LA fitness signature in Coppell, they keep it clean and well organized if anything needs to be fix they place a work order and get fix in a reasonable time! I was recently forced here by the Coppell Signature gym closing. I’m not happy, I went from very new equipment to very old rusted equipment with most of the cardio equipment upstairs scheduled for service with no A/C. It’s an overly crowded gym & the sauna was so hot that it would set you on fire after a minute of sitting in it. DO BETTER PLEASE!!!!!

Three stars is probably higher than deserved. Two out of three of the toilets in the men's room have been "scheduled for service" for weeks. The soap and paper towel dispensers are frequently empty. They didn't have any hot water for showers for over a month. Front desk staff is usually polite.

This place is terrible and I go there to play basketball and for the past 5 months the hoops have been broken and they don’t clean up and the workers are unprofessional and don’t care about our workouts or anything. This is hands down the worst gym I’ve ever been to not just the worst LA Fitness. They’re charging on the higher end (around $40/month plus the annual fee and signup fee) but without the equipment or facilities to justify it. No battle ropes, no proper endurance training section like other LA Fitness locations in DFW just a whole lot of meh.

Cleanliness? Below average. There’s always something wrong with the stepmaster as if it’s part of the decor now. The swimming pool is basically a private facility for a third party kids’ swim school members either wait endlessly or give up. And the basketball court? Let’s just say “proper basketballs” are a rare mythical creature here. Guys it costs less than $100 to put a few good basketballs on the court… come on.

After more than two years of giving this place chance after chance I’m done. The only reason this gets 1 star is the employees but even then the manager seems perpetually annoyed like they hate being here as much as I do. This place doesn’t just need new equipment it needs a whole new management team.

I’m cancelling my membership. This gym sucks.

This is my 4th review of the Highland Village location

If you are looking for a clean and orderly fitness location, this is not it. The only thing this LA Fitness offers is location/convenience. The men's restroom and sauna remain is disarray. Every day there is urine on the floor. Only one piece of new equipment has been brought in over the past few years. Yes, the hip thruster which is not the best of quality. I have noted several complaints from shorter statured customers. The hip thruster has minimum adjustability for such people,

It is clear that LA Fitness still has no plan to renovate the facility.
Three of the 4 stair climbers (downstairs) are inoperable. Be mindful of the lack of sanitary conditions.

This facility is a breeding ground for MRSA. I dealt with a bout of this over the past year. The staff in the morning primarily sit on their butts at the front desk. There is NO concerted effort to sanitize equipment aside from that of customers.

Service: I spent 10 minutes standing at the front waiting for someone to talk to me, then they drag me over to a coordinator who called me sir when I have boobs, was awkward as hell.

This past Sunday I went to the body Works plus abs class 8:30 AM with instructor Kerry H. In Highland Village Chevrolet .I was disappointed with her lack of welcoming attention to new person in class. She was 10 min late (this is usual for her per other members) so no respect for others time. class was good as far as the actual workout which is the most important goal but I really think she could better. I’ve been a member of LA Fitness for approximately 5 years now and all other instructors are respectful of my time and very professional. Kerry H. (I only know that’s your name from the group schedule app) you are fit and made us work hard but no personal connection at all.

My only complaint is the group fitness instructors need to respect the regular members more. I had the aqua fit people trying to kick me out 10 minutes before their time starts and I had another instructor take the fan out of the spin bike area without asking me. Equipment is old and not in the best shape to say the least, not the safest nor most efficient either probably due to being designed decades ago. Every piece of equipment is rusting, cardio machines are ancient and every single one of them squeaks and rattles. Last but not least, this place does NOT have a straight barbell rack, literally WTH is this? You are a gym!
In all honesty tho, if you just try to train and maintain a good physique, this is more than adequate. But dollar for dollar there are much better places to be.

This place was probably good around 20 years ago or whenever it first opened. I came in there on the guest pass and didn't even work out. the locker room was just way too gross and stinky. I'm a type of person who likes to go to the gym after I come from work so I'll take a shower at the gym and then work out but it was just so disgusting in the locker room I just left. I don't imagine anybody spending $168 total cost to start a membership here and then $50 a month to come to filth this definitely does not embody what LA Fitness is about corporate needs to renovate this place badly. I think I'll stay at Gold's if I have to go home to take a shower and come back out work out then I might as well go to a place that's clean. The smell coming from the men's steam room was absolutely crazy. I didn't even make it to the pool area I can imagine it's way worse

This is by far the worst gym I’ve ever been to.

The place is filthy, the machines are super outdated and barely working, and a majority of the staff lack any sort of professionalism, hospitality, or any semblance of respect/care for their members.

Instead of actually cleaning the hot tub and pool they just pump more chemical into the water that have caused a rash in my skin. You can see lumps of hair and dirt floating in the hot tub and sticking to the edge of it at all times. A fellow member has said on multiple occasions that someone is going to end up getting a flesh eating bacterial infection because of it.

Many of the lockers in the men’s locker room are busted up and broken. The weights and machines feel 20 or more years out of date. There are so many issues with the facility and how the gym is operated that it infuriates me every time I come in.

There are a couple of nice and somewhat personable employees but the rest are discourteous and constantly on their phones, not paying attention to their guests.

There have been multiple times in the last two weeks where employees have straight up lied about closing to force us out before they actually close.

Tonight I was forced out of the hot tub at exactly 9:45PM because the employee said “we are closed” despite the fact that they close at 10. 5 minutes after I was told to get out because they were closed the overhead speakers had an automated message saying they are closing in 10 minutes.

The other day one of the other employees came in 10 minutes before closing to interrupt my friend and I who were getting dressed to tell us they close in 5 minutes when that wasn’t true. Why come up to people who were very clearly getting changed to leave to be antagonistic and lie by saying you are closing earlier than you are?

I understand that some people do not listen and try to keep lifting weights after the gym is actually closed but I have never stayed longer than 5 minutes before closing and that was because I was getting dressed. This is unacceptable behavior from the staff. They have no care for their members and they do not respect us enough to even keep the facility clean. If you are charging between 30 and 50 dollars per month you should at the very least keep the place decently clean and employ staff who are professional. And if I am paying that premium price I expect to be able to change in peace without multiple employees coming up to me to lie and say they are already closed when they are not. Unacceptable.

This club is in CRAZY need of updating. The equipment is sub par and repairs are to slap a ton of grease on it and move on. The carpet on the walls smells like it's had years of sweat and water poured on it and it's rotting! Things sit for weeks at a time with a "Service Scheduled" tag in them. If it was a cheaper gym fine, but it's 4x more expensive than the nicer newer Planet Fitness down the road. Do yourself a favor and avoid this club, it is far from with it and I'll be moving to a different gym.

This has to be the worst LA Fitness in the DFW area. So many things are broken, and it takes forever to get them fixed. The hot tub has been out of order for two months, and now I’m hearing it could take another six months before they even bother fixing it. On top of that, they’ve rented out two of the four swimming lanes to a swim school, so there’s hardly any space left for members. Maybe it's time for LA Fitness to file for bankruptcy?

Came to this location today while I was in town for work. The gym area was probably the best for any LA Fitness! However, the amenities I used today were disgusting… who has a nasty, smelly, carpeted locker room? The pool ( the picture makes it look nicer than it was) was so cloudy and murky that you couldn’t see a few feet in front of you, really hoping I don’t get sick. The jacuzzi was also so brown and cloudy that you couldn’t see your feet as soon as you stepped on the stairs.

I’ve been a member of LA Fittness for years I’m so disappointed in this location. The pool is so filthy people don’t wanna jump into it. I have a spine injury that requires me to use the pool so it’s really inconvenient that the pool and Hottub both are always disgusting. Also the men’s room is trashed more than half the lockers are smashed in from I guess robberies which is alarming and they broken beyond use. The locker room carpet has been moldy and flooded over and over again for who knows how long at this point and now it smells like garbage. Every other location in the metroplex has pulled out the carpet in the locker rooms to improve this issue. They don’t even have so much as have a fan or anything to dry it out. I’m most likely going to remove my membership at this point it’s embarrassing and not an enjoyable experience. Also the sauna has exposed nails that burn the hell out of you if you sit on them or lean against them. Whoever owns this gym is either clueless careless or just cheap and greedy bc they are refusing to spend money on their business and investment. It’s honestly a health concern at this point. I plan to report this place if it’s not remedied very very soon.

I have been a member since 2015 with this specific location (Highland Village) & it has really gone down hill. The only perk of this gym is the sauna, and the sauna is horrible. There are exposed nails that burn your skin! There is an area that’s strictly only for training which has specific equipment that the rest of the gym does not have & you get kicked out if you are in there! This past year LA Fitness has “updated” their gym equipment with used/beat up machines. I would not waste your money here! Personally I do not think it is worth it, look elsewhere.

I think what makes the biggest difference in this gym has got to be the staff. They work to be sure your needs are taken care of and are happy to help when you have questions or need some extra motivation.
If you are looking for a great personal trainer, be sure to ask for Alex Best. I have been training with him since September and for someone who was too scared to even walk into a gym, it is now my favorite place. Alex does a great job of listening to your goals and takes the time to be sure you understand what you are doing and how it will help you. Whether you are a first timer to the gym life, training for a specific event or simply need some help to improve your workout, he is more than happy to help you on your fitness journey. Another plus is that he will do his best to accommodate your scheduling needs. He doesn't just talk the talk either. If you are lucky, you can sometimes catch him working out in this gym when his schedule allows.

I’ve had a brand new Baskeball stolen from behind the desk at this location as of recent. I get I left it but when it got turned in to the desk, I didn’t see why or how it could be given to anyone else especially when I have my name sharpie on the ball. Didn’t go at a busy time. Was able to work all the areas I wanted to work.
The only addition I wish they had are phone holders up on top of the cardio machines in case you wanted to watch your phone. Frivolous, but would be beneficial.

It’s ok. Reasonable prices. Generally clean. Never very busy. Some equipment needs repair or an update. Some group exercise classes are good, but other classes are hopelessly bad and never change. Staff people sitting around aren’t my problem. I swam in the pool the last few times I was here, had the pool to myself. Pool is open as late as the gym. The pool classes are pretty good. The hot tub chemicals destroyed my swimsuit. Overall a decent gym. Convenient location, very safe area. Bonus that I can go to all the locations with one membership.

So the only reason I come to LA fitness is so I can lift weights and hit the heavy bags. Now they are removing the heavy bags permanently, so if your wanting to come for the heavy bags your going to have to go to the location 30 minutes away. Current member, but will not be renewing. Hate to leave a bad review, but I've had enough. Equipment is in mediocre shape at best. They schedule programming in the pool every evening, so good luck swimming if you hold a regular job. They literally vandalize the place on a regular basis/ film videos in the changing area/ run around and disrupt workouts, and the staff doesn't care or do anything about the multiple members that complain. It’s pretty clean and not too crowded during the week in the morning. However, it doesn’t open until 8:00 AM on the weekend! 8:00 AM is not even necessarily when it opens. It’s 8:26 AM and still not open. Ridiculous. In the less than one month I have lived here this is not the first time this has happened.

When my husband and I first went to sign up for a membership, we were walking up to the doors and could see the girl who was in charge of watching children in the daycare center fooling around with a male staff member. They were kissing and he was lifting her off a counter. We mentioned it to the guy who signed us up. But as a parent that would definitely make me not want to drop my kids off while I workout. Just unprofessional and uncomfortable. And irresponsible while caring for other peoples children.
Another thing is there may be alot of equipment available but a good amount of it was out of service.
As well as unlike planet fitness (my previous gym) I noticed no one cleans the equipment after using it. After covid that's kind of a turn off. Plus who wants to touch others sweat. The do have spray bottles up front but planet fitness had them thru out the gym for easy access and encouragement to clean after use.
After a month of having a membership I am canceling and seeking a new gym.

I love LA fitness but this one specifically is not the move. My family has gone to this one intermittently since 2014 we usually prefer to go to the Lewisville one. This one literally has not updated equipment since we started going here. It’s all outdated and a lot of the times many of the machines are broken. This gym is literally overwhelmed by high schoolers and they are literally right next to a store that sells Performance Enhancing Drugs so I wonder what kind of issues that can cause. If you’re an older person, or someone who is trying to work out mildly this is not the place for you.

I did the 3 day trial since the price is outrageous, but it’s the only gym with racquetball courts I can find. I experienced employees at the front desk being passive and unhelpful. They were chatting and on their phones. The cleanliness could be addresses a little more in the men’s room. Overall the patrons all seem to be very kind; good community. Lots of equipment. I think if you’re paying ridiculous prices, you should have ridiculously perfect gym. I think LA fitness as a whole is taking a fall though!

Reminded today why I stopped coming here. Had to visit today because my other gym was doing some maintenance (imagine that, keeping up with repairs). This place is a mess. 2 bar collars for the entire free weight area, both cable machines completely put of service. Bathroom stinks, rusty, musty.

The gym equipment is not take care of whatsoever. Cardio equipment, weight machines, and cable systems are all in poor shape. Many of the popular machines and cable systems are broken and have been broken for months. Those that do work are very rough/sticky and likely won't be working for much longer. When asking the staff about the issue they had no answers.

Canceled my membership after 3 weeks . Going to lifetime . The girl working the from desk, absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful. The whole front desk staff is entitled and rude . The jacuzzi is absolutely disgusting. The equipment is clean but the between the rude / entitled staff and dirty facilities , i rather pay more for lifetime. Hope management sees this . This place needs a complete revamp of front desk staffing if they want to keep people. Incredible how rude they are

This is just another gym trying to scam you out of money! I added kid care for my one child and they charged me for another child 2 days later. This has to be one of the nastiest gyms I have been in in a long time. You would think a gym in Highland Village would be top notch, but this place is disgusting. Walls in the mens urinal area haven’t been cleaned in months or years. Snot and boogers everywhere. Cob webs in corners, windows, and around stationary select a weight equipment. Dirty carpet in the workout area!! Carpet in a gym? Sweat and spit on the floor. Also no one re-racks their weight. I gave it an extra star just because it had equipment that I could use to get a workout on. Disinfect yourself before you go home. Great place to boost your immune system if you don’t get sick first.

The place is large, lots of places to workout, has a pool and racquetball courts. It's in my list of considered gyms as I moved into the city. The location is also pretty good, there are all kinds of great shops around it, which would make it a great multi-purpose trip when going for a workout. I used the bathroom and on the surface it looked clean, but the toilets were not very clean.

Met a wonderful,smart ,personal trainer.
Part of being a Google Tour guide is testing eating etc.
The pounds packed on in the cold northeast where I have 1 of three residences.

Kelton is a smart young fit athlete / personal trainer . He hails from Ca .
He educated me on the best way to drop the extra weight I gained.

He was very well spoken and knowledgeable.
Last time I was here I had a former Tennessee Titan NFL player tell me I had 50 per cent body fat!
He was clearly under a lot of pressure to sell me personal training package.

Luckily my PCP told me I have 31 per cent.
You can't lie to people.
Clearly whomever is running this department has very very poor leadership skills.
He needs to lead his team through truth. The shareholders want results not fakes.

The NFL player started out selling me 250 a month personal training package . But dropped it to 50 dollars in 20 minutes? I felt really bad he was clearly selling on weakness not strength. A persons perception of value decreases as the price drops. He is no longer there. What a surprise.
I am a long time member and very ,very disappointed the way this corporate policy treats it's employees.

Best experience I've ever had. I was nervous about signing up but they introduced my to Kelton who is the Training Manager and he helped me find a program and get lined up with my trainer Liz! I've already lost 10lbs and they are always so happy to see me!

This gym is ran by half lazy kids who don't know how to manage a gym. It's more of a after hours high school hangout. I'm all for the future generation getting after it. But these kids have no gym edict 8 or 10 on 4 machines talking playing on the phone screaming at each other. The staff being lazy and unqualified don't address the issue with them. They're more worried about looking cool and being friends than doing their job.

Compared to the LA Fitness (Esporta?) in Lewisville, this gym is in need of a major facelift. Benches are all squeaky, wobbly, and rusted from sweat; free weights are warped and gross to hold. Lots of pieces to machines and other equipment just missing or broken.

We are really disappointed with this gym. While the women’s area is alway clean my husband always complained about the mens.

We come early in the morning. Half the time their are people waiting outside for someone to open the doors, especially on weekends.

The equipment is constantly broken. We complain to the staff at the front desk and they say there is nothing they can do.

I have gone in the women’s sauna a few times to find staff wrapped in blankets on their phone!! They are wrapped in blankets staring at their phone at the front desk, feet on the desks as well. This is a simple job held by young people, but up your standards of professionalism!

Weights are never put away and there is always trash and water bottles tossed everywhere; before anyone has even come in the gym.

It’s even more disheartening when the front desk staff acts like you are annoying them. There will be 3-4 people standing around on their phones.

Our last straw was after many days telling the staff that the mens sauna needed to be cleaned we even shared photos with one of the staff, the next day it was in the same condition. It’s disgusting. We are moving gyms.

I'm disappointed in this place. The staff is hit and miss. Some people are nice and others are just sitting on their phones or kind of rude. This is especially an issue in the Kid Zone. I'm not expecting stellar daycare or for them to even play with my kid but if they are going to allow small children in there, they should at the very least stay off their phones and keep an eye on the kids. We have taken our kid 4 times so far and only one young lady actually seems to understand how to do her job. My kid actually cried in the parking lot because she didn't want to go inside. She's a low maintenance kid so for her to cry at all gave me pause. I'm not sure if we will continue our membership after the 6 months we signed up for.
