I’m a very patient and respectful person — especially as a traveling nurse, I truly value good customer service. Unfortunately, my experience with LA Fitness was very disappointing at first. They signed me up for a multistate plan, but when I went to another location in a different state, I was denied entry. I called several times and was promised a solution that never came. I was even told to cancel my membership and open a new one with the promise of a refund, which I never received.

But everything changed thanks to Ethan Redman.

He was the ONLY person who actually helped me. He handled my case professionally, processed my refund, fixed my plan, and was completely transparent throughout the entire process.

LA Fitness is truly lucky to have someone like Ethan on their team.

He is the reason I can trust the company again.

Love love this gym! The kids club attendants actually take care and play with the kids. Minus one Star due to kids club AC problems. But overall good gym. They did a recent upgrade to gym equipment. Got some good hip thrust machines. I moved away so I don’t attend this gym anymore but I truly loved this friendly gym environment. People of all ages. It’s a good 50/50 male and female ratio so I always felt welcomed. It can get a bit busy and some treadmills are down but besides that…. It’s a good gym! Good customer service from the trainers and staff.

I visit this location for the first time about a week ago and nobody was at the front so I just walked in and worked out but I was lost about where everything was. I was kinda iffy about going back but I went back yesterday, and after being signed up/ checked in I was directed to Kacey and she was absolutely amazing. She took the time to give me a tour of the whole gym. She asked me about my goals and showed me some workouts that would target the areas that I wanted to work on. She even called to check on me the next day. She was so friendly and made me feel so comfortable. Her customer service and work ethic is Top Tier.

Hope this place gets a overhaul soon. I joined in League City. They had a shinny new gym that offered cryotherapy and the other gym had a recent remodel. I moved to Copperfield and this gym is junk!! The cardio equipment is old and rusted. I found one elliptical that didn't feel like it was going to crumble if I went over 4. The treadmills sound worse. They rent out the pool to kids swim schools. How can they get away with renting out a space and making it unavailable to people that pay a membership?? There are so many newer gyms offering better prices and more appealing amenities. For the price they need to exceed the competition. Only perk I am paying for at this location is its way less busy during peek hours.

Worst experience ever. Signing up for a guest pass here is a total scam. The employees are rude, condescending, and clearly only interested in squeezing money out of you. They refuse to let you in and waste your time grilling you with pointless questions, all to pressure you into paying. Don’t bother with their so-called guest pass—it’s nothing but a bait-and-switch. Avoid this place.

Do NOt buy the shakes they sell. Do NOT buy the ones they make. They lie about ingredients and that’s dangerous. I have many food allergies. I had asked for a Keto Chocolate one. It says “100% cacao” in the menu. They actually put Nestquick powder instead. I had a rash that night. Never again. That’s unethical of them. So now I make my own shakes at home.

Update: Tried to go cancel today. I was told the “only” person who can cancel my account was on break and would be back in about 30 mins. I asked for their hours and was told 9-5 but we don’t know when she’s on break.

Basically: I might miss her again. I can see through those tactics.

I put a stop payment from my bank app then and there. I will not be returning to try to hunt the “one person” who can supposedly cancel my account.

Y’all can figure it out. Those tactics are silly. Do better.

I called LA fitness to ask how I could cancel my membership and they said I needed to go in person. I went in and they canceled it, and didn’t inform me that my spouse was going to remain active. I realized it when I received the cancellation email, my wife stopped by to cancel in the evening because she works 6-6. They told her she can only cancel between business hours 8-5, which makes no sense if you can buy a membership at any time or day, you should be able to cancel at anytime. I called and the operations manager answered and I asked why I wasn’t told this when I went to cancel, she said I needed to go back in again and take my wife’s membership information to cancel it. I told her I was already there, I shouldn’t have to go back again.

These people are unprofessional and incompetent at not being able to solve a problem caused by their inefficiency of not explaining a cancellation process effectively. If there is a joint membership you need to inform the other person when they are canceling to avoid having to go again, it makes no sense to have someone go in again because of your lack of professionalism and ignorance.

I don’t not recommend this place at all!

Danger!!!!! This is a dangerous place. Lights are alway out in the parking lot. Cars are broken in to. I have had property stolen and even with a police report the management does nothing. I was told at least one car a week Is vandalized. Dressing room are dirty, equipment is not cleaned. It is not a safe place to be after dark!!!

Been a member for a long time. I originally signed up at LA Fitness due to close to work and fairly clean showers. There has always been a very slow response to repairing equipment. Last year without notice the gym closed for over a week to renovate. The renovation basically was new equipment and a revamp of the trainer area. Since the new equipment was installed the new cardio equipment has been an issue. Most of the foot straps broke within a few weeks and have never been replaced. Why?? Also the elevator has been broken for months, I have no need for the elevator but shows the lack of care by management. I will be looking for a new gym as I am retired and can go a bit further to get to a better maintained gym.

I wish there were 0 starts instead of 1 because this place doesn’t even deserve one star. I feel so heart broken and devastated with the experience I’ve had that it completely changed my view on what I thought would forever be my favorite gym. I have been going to this location for over 10 years, since I was a teenager; this gym has literally seen all the stages of my life and the people working in it know I am probably the longest most faithful customer this gym has probably ever had. Not too long ago there was a problem with my membership, I was under my mom with a family plan her insurance provided and we were all under the same account. The insurance kicked me out and I guess after I scanned the barcode my sister’s membership showed instead which she never goes to the gym my mom is basically paying for one extra but that’s not the point. Whenever they realized it was my sister they went to go get me I had already stretched and started my cardio I had no idea this has happened, also don’t know why they took so long to go get me instead of telling me right after I scanned the barcode. They went upstairs to get me not one, but two men. Surprised of why they needed two men to go get a young lady I kindly asked, or you could say begged them to finish my cardio and that I was going to go down after I was done like a civilized person with the manners and values my parents raised me with. One of the men answered in a very rude tone I was even afraid and nervous of why I was being treated like that. This two men treated me like I was a criminal, didn’t let me finish my cardio and escorted me down as if they were taking me to prison. I have never felt so disrespected in my entire life, and the only reason I still go here today is because my mom wants to workout together, but walking into this place is like a nightmare, it is not even enjoyable anymore. I talked to them about how I felt and the guys responsible couldn’t even apologize for what they did. I’m not a drama person at all and I’ve never been violent or aggressive with nobody so being treated like this was definitely a new feeling I hope nobody has to ever go through at a gymnasium. This is my frequent gym because it’s close by and i can get there in under 15mn. It used to be like the old LA but they’ve made some changes in equipments and remove some old favorites however there’s enough to get your ideal work out in. Now there’s a faux green area you can use for core training and free weights exercises. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a complete gym. There’s a pool, sauna and jacuzzi

My husband has a gym membership here not me. I came to the gym with him one day and hey said he owed 35 i told him get my card and pay. He did i stood right there, no one asked was it his new card nothing. My husband goes in and tells them to take the card off and puts his card on file... Next month I'm hit with another fee.. I let them take it. then called my card in because I am not a gym member there nor did I give permission for them to take the money off my card monthly. I don't know how but hey they found my new card number and charged me $95 dollars. I called to see how did they get my number and they said someone gave it to them but how when I didn't receive the new one? However I'm aware that many gym merchants can call visa, Mastercard, etc. to get an updated new card that the person may have on file. I called the gym to dispute it with the manager a black guy that was trying to go back and forth with me. This place is so packed you cant workout in peace anymore. On top of the fact that you have to wait a long time in lines to use the machine, they have a personal training area that they block off a substantial amount of machines to train. The personal trainers look like they need a personal trainer, out of shape personal trainers that teach others about fitness looks really bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. What used to take 1 hour to finish your workouts will take you 3hrs now.

I’ve seen the decline of this location even after the “renovation” and besides the discomfort I’ve never felt the need to publicly complain, but today’s treatment was unacceptable, unprofessional and disrespectful.

I’m giving one star only because I have to publicly express how disappointed I am with the treatment of contractors like Katherine (Kickbox Cardio “instructor” if we can truly address her like that) who came up to me aggressively today Saturday August third before 8:30 A.M. and demanded me to leave the salon while I was performing my calisthenics training, apparently there wasn’t enough room to share; even though I was situated in a corner NOT interfering with her class, that is actually included in the membership I’m paying for, Mr. Jamar General
Manager (if he truly cares about LA Fitness business development) needs to remind her she doesn’t own the facilities, her paycheck comes from the money we pay and she needs to address everyone with respect, even tho if not participating in her services that are actually complimentary to all memberships.

But it doesn’t ends there, she actually had the nerve to come at me and aggressively grabbed all of my equipment and took it out of the salon before saying; “You need to wrap it up”… all of this in front of her class. Everyone was in shocked, no wonder with her unprofessional behavior and poor ethics clearly of a person who’s not fit to provide professional fitness training services.

The facilities are available for all paying members wich I’ve been for many years, but only Goods knows If I step again with this Katherine again while in this facility I’ll move all my social media influencers and start a campaign against her services and everyone who supports her. She messed up with the wrong person as she didn’t knew I’m an actual Advertising Executive and Social Media Manager who manages a lot of the local advertising and influencer campaigns for Houston who’s also connected to big media producers and international fitness providers.

Let’s see how far Katherine’s behavior will lead her in the fitness industry and how LA Fitness takes part in it.

They took down the rims and said they are not putting them back up. I called in and they said basketball is no longer important to them at this location and will only allow volleyball. On their website, basketball is an option. Now it is a lie. It is not an option. It’s a huge reason why I pick La fitness over other clubs. Basketball is my cardio especially since I’m over 40. Since LA Fitness can’t accommodate my physical needs, I will now cancel my membership and never return to this franchise. Especially since they said over the phone basketball is not important to them and will no longer be allowed at this location. Taking my loyalty elsewhere. I been a member here 10 plus years.

I'm a member for more than 10 years,and definitely LA fitness isn't the same. I don't like the remodeling at all. The new abs machines are the worst. This place is packed, can't use anything, too many people and most of the time are on their cellphones. I enrolled my son 1 year ago so he can play basketball , he can't use the basketball court at all because it's always full with people that are not even members.
One of the best body works instructors is gone to another fitness club.
Katherine is great,her classes are awesome, I wish they open another day for kick boxing with her. And I wish that whoever is on top of this gym makes really good changes to flip this place reputation for good.

They took out a lot of machines and put in a turf area that hardly anyone uses. They should have added more machines instead. This gym is now more crowded than ever. Because they took the extra machines out more people are having to use dumbbells which means they are laying around all over the place and never available. I honestly really hate going to this place.

OH AND NONE OF THE SOAP DISPENSERS HAVE SOAP AND THE PAPER TOWEL DISPENSER DOESN'T HAVE PAPER TOWELS.

The district manager for this store doesn't care that the equipment needs replacing or that some of it stays broken for months or the fact that there are zero single pulley handles for ANY of the adjustable pulley weights. There's no angle bar for the seated back row machine either. THEY TOOK THE SEATED BACK ROW MACHINE OUT AND ADDED FAKE GRASS. WHY!?

It's been TERRIBLE for a while. You would do better to go to a gym where management cares that you have equipment you are able to use like Planet Fitness or Fitness Connection. This review is staying 1 star until the district manager cares enough to make it better.

Poor management and rude fitness instructors.

Too many people hogging machines and even after management was made aware they failed to manage the situations continously allowing members to be on their phones for 5-10+ minutes without using the equipment they are on. (More than 1 person and more than 1 equipment). Makes the gym pretty hard to even use.

Lap pool is constantly being used for things other than lap swimming such as swim lessons or water aerobics. I belibe out of curiosity to swimmers, there should at least be 1 lane open for lap swimming.

After the remodel, only 2 leg press and a hack squat. Plus the bicep curl is gone along with other good machines like shoulder press . The machines are for small people now. If you’re 6 feet it just is impossible getting good form on these machines. Now they’re merging with another gym. There’s way too many people here, and less machines, and they keep bringing new people on. Lady at the front is nice though

After 2 Years, I WILL NOT ATTEND THIS LA FITNESS AGAIN!!!!
I’ve decided to stop going to this LA Fitness location after their remodel and equipment overhaul, and yes I will vent.

First off, the new free weight benches are way too high I can't properly plant my foot on the ground when I'm doing dumbbell chest press. I'm 5'7" and I feel like a baby using a grown-up toilet with my legs swinging. These benches seem to be designed for giants over 6 feet tall, ignoring the rest of us.

The gym used to have 8 height-adjustable cable machines. Now, there are just 4, all from Matrix. This has led to longer wait times and less efficient workouts. Plus, the new cable fly machines, made by Matrix, only adjust for height and are too narrow for proper chest flies. The old equipment was much more versatile.

The machine-assisted equipment from Matrix and Hoist is a disaster. Hoist machines have unnecessary movements that mess up the intended muscle workout. The lat pulldown machine makes me feel like I'm awkwardly twerking like Miley Cyrus rather than working out my lats. What illegal substance was the designer of that equipment using when he came up with this monstrosity? The hip abductor machine's seat is too high, making it unusable for anyone under 6 feet tall.

They also replaced the bicep curl and tricep dip machines, which allowed for plated weights, with Matrix machines that do most of the work for you, and have limited range of motion, reducing the workout's effectiveness.

The Matrix machines are poorly designed. They lack mounts for phones or water bottles and have obstructions that discourage placing these items even on the floor. Adjusting the weight plates is a pain; you often have to get off the machine to change weights, unlike the previous models where plates were within reach.

The treadmills are another letdown. They only have a flat surface that can't securely hold phones, even those with stand-up cases, which wobble during use. Plus, these treadmills emit a loud, incessant “BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP” across the gym, with every button press, whether adjusting speed, incline, or any other setting. This seems to discourage phone use especially in 2024 when people do cardio with YouTube on, instead pushing users towards the built-in TV with only four unappealing channels.

The Matrix cardio machines frequently break down and need maintenance, including the treadmills and stairmasters, which has always been a problem at this location even before the remodeling. Other locations use Life Fitness brands because they know better.

And don’t get me started on the background music. Instead of energizing workout tunes which get your blood pumping and adrenaline kicking, they play annoying pop and hipster songs especially from stuck-up artists like 34-year-old Taylor Swift still crying about her teenage breakups. It’s hard to stay motivated with such inappropriate and uninspiring music.

Whoever decided on this remodel clearly didn’t know what they were doing. It seems like they got the job through nepotism and favoritism rather than actual knowledge, education, and gym experience. They probably chose Matrix to cut costs, without considering how it would affect serious gym-goers. Now the gym caters more to "broccoli-heads" in Pikachu PJs and Crocs, and middle-aged "Karens" who spend more time being influencers than working out, since they don't know any better about the efficiency of those machines.

The remodel has ruined this LA Fitness location. The poorly designed equipment, impractical layout, unhelpful staff, and terrible music choice have made my workouts frustrating and ineffective. While I haven’t canceled my membership, I’ll be going to a different LA Fitness—unless they mess that one up too.

They have 5 stair masters and only 1 of them works, 3 of them have not been working for months and they still have not fixed them. They recently got a renovation 1-2 weeks ago and the least they could’ve done was get new working stair masters!

Been going here for years and until now I’ve really thought about ending my membership with LA for good. You close down other clubs yet fail to accommodate the members forced to move clubs. From their cameras not working when your car gets broken into, running out of paper towels, no disinfectant wipes, broken machines for weeks, taking machines away, turning equipment off knowing they have more people than ever you guys are sorry. Sorry excuse for a club, sorry management.

It used to be clean and functional, but the past 4-6mo it's been unkept, unclean, with tons of broken machines. It's gone way down hill, I'm gonna cancel as soon as another gym opens up closer to me.

I'm changing my review, because this gym has gone downhill in the last 6 or 8 months. There used to be cleaning staff around, always keeping things clean and sanitary. Which is obviously really important in a gym. Now I rarely see anyone cleaning, and it shows. The floors are disgusting. The machines are dirty. They're constantly out of alcohol wipes, so the machines definitely don't get wiped down in between uses. And at any given time, probably 1/3 of the cardio machines are out of service. I'm not sure what's changed in the last few months, but it's definitely a change for the worse. Once EOS Fitness opens next year, we'll never be back.

I joined this gym about 6 weeks ago. I go 3x/week. It's super clean and there are always plenty of cardio machines (even during peak times). I've had very little interaction with staff, but when I have it's been positive.

Every time I go in there's a member of cleaning staff wiping down/sanitizing machines, mopping, cleaning court windows/doors, etc.

Based on the previous reviews I was worried about machines being out of service. But I've never seen a non-working machine. There are some treadmills with some cosmetic wear, like rust on the bottom. But it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

If your vehicle gets broken into at LA Fitness on Barker Cypress and 529. I recommend using Atlas to repair your window. The second time our vehicle has been broken into in a year. Not sure how LA Fitness can't afford a golf cart security guard or at a minimum and security tower in the parking lot. Be that as it may, if you work out there know it's a hazard you may have to pay for a couple of times a year. I guess it's part of doing business with LA Fitness.

This gym has really gone downhill. I switch over to 3rd Coast Gym. It is just 5 minutes down the street from LA Fitness. Machines and equipment are top not. The gym is open for members 24/7. Overall better gym.

False and misleading business hours are being advertised. The gym now closes one hour earlier than usual on every day of the week. They have been doing this since October 2023 according to their own notice, but curiously, the management continues to advertise longer hours that they do not adhere to as of April 2024. As a full paying member, you will not receive service if you do not arrive at least one hour before the closing time originally advertised and the building becomes exit only. I was here for 5 mins and watched at least 9 other people confused about why they could not use their membership. Advertised hours are 11PM, Mon -Thur, 10PM Friday and 8PM Saturday to Sunday. Actual closing hours enforced are 10PM, 9PM and 8PM respectively.

Great to work out especially early morning. It’s never too crowded, plenty of space and lots of choices, and they are always cleaning everything. The Best way to start your Day I say! Hard workout, rinse off, hot sauna or jacuzzi, a cold dunk in the pool, and a good shower and all day long to show off your new muscles, your new You, and your smile:)
I see people all the time as they arrive first day, you see them 3 weeks later and they just look so much better and walk with a confident posture and a straight body! You can tell who is new and who walks proud of their body!

This is one of two different locations we enjoy going to. The staff are friendly and polite. The fitness center is clean and pretty well maintained for the volume of people that pass through each day! This location and the one off fry and i-10 are the best two! Their pricing is simple and up front and basic memberships get all sorts of perks! Their free weight section is on point as well.

The nitro lower back machine pushes into your upper neck (not adjustable) the hip abductor doesn’t adjust all the way in for max results. One of the quad extensions is stuck on 80lbs. The seated leg curl doesn’t adjust for someone who’s 5’2 with short legs (having to lean back adding pressure to my lower back). The calf extension hurts areas that shouldn’t the pedals are trash. The sauna seats are so rickety it feels like I’m on the Texas giant before it got fixed. I can’t do anything here properly. We’re gonna have to find a better gym this is not worth the money. Oh and everything is rusted and falling apart or doesn’t adjust.

Highly annoyed that this location closes the basketball court at 8pm. The main reason that I pay more for LA Fitness id because of the basketball court. The members also like to trash the place, and there’s usually no cleaning staff. This is the worst LA Fitness location in the area, and I only go because it’s the closest.

I went back today after avoiding this location for months and I am truly in disbelief. The entire building smelled like gas (I suspect there is a leak because the front doors were open), no paper towels or toilet paper in the restrooms, half the treadmills are out of service, several bikes are broken, no yoga mats in the yoga room… the list goes on. I’ve been to several LA Fitness (Fry Rd, Gessner, 99) and unfortunately this is the closest one to my house, they have broke into my vehicle twice and management didn’t care. Horrible I will be moving to EOS Fitness soon. Management take a tour to other clubs and raise your standards!!

Half the treadmills on the second floor dont turn on. Some of the treadmills and stationary bikes shake when you are on them I think they need leveling but definitely need some kind of maintenance done. I've told the employees there and was told to contact corporate office.

Military and affiliates get a 50% discounted membership through active fit. I was just with the friend who was trying to cancel so he can reactivate and wow. The customer service is ridiculous. When I had to go through the same process awhile back and nowhere close was I treated like him. They put women at work a bad name, and it's sad they can't seem to do their job efficiently nor have a professional attitude about it.

No apologies, no courtesy, I even spoke for him when the first girl ignored his request for a receipt of cancellation and said the Asian girl does that. She went to talk to her as the operations lady was coming back but I guess she told her nothing although she had all of his information pulled up.

The gym is ok but it has come to my attention that a worker there named Sandra had the nerve to yell at my mother and embarrass her in front of everyone when she could have told my mother in a different less belittling way but no she chose to yell in her face ,snap her fingers AND turn off the machine she was using . My mom told me that Sandra told her her name confidently and that she SHOULD tell the manager , she walks around like she owns the place . ALSO that multiple people have actually had a very rude encounters with this lady and that she thinks she’s all that and runs the gym . This lady needs to be humbled before she meets the wrong one on the right time .

New to this gym - the limited staff I have met have been most helpful. I love how the parking lot is big enough, but not too large, for the facility - it can look busy outside, but is not overcrowded inside. Swimming area has been clean and safe. Love it.
