I came to LA Fitness on Sunday, November 2nd, around 9:13 AM, and according to the schedule, the gym is supposed to open at 8:00 AM on Sundays. However, even after waiting over 25 minutes in the parking lot, the doors were still locked and there was no sign or communication from staff explaining the delay or closure.

This is very disappointing and unprofessional, especially for a location I’ve been coming to for nearly 4 years. As a loyal member, I expect basic communication and reliability. If there are maintenance issues, staffing problems, or unexpected closures, members deserve to be informed ahead of time either through signage, an app update, or a message.

I really hope management looks into this issue and ensures it doesn’t happen again. Situations like this make regular members question the consistency and management standards of the gym.

The bath rooms/locker rooms are not always clean, hot water typically doesn't work, the basketball court is not in the best shape and AC is hit or miss...but, they typically open when they say they will and there are plenty of weights/equipment to work out with. I’ve been coming here for quite some time now. Recently I’ve noticed they’ve made some changes in the staff and operations of the crew there. I’ll say that with this new team I’ve never felt more welcome and motivated to get my workout in than I do now. They actually seem like they care, so the change was definitely a good thing. Claire the manager is definitely great to work with as well.

Only thing I’ll say is that it would be cool to see some options for pre workouts, drinks, shakes etc added back into the mix. They got rid of the vending machine so no options are available.

I have been going to this location for at least 4 years now and recently I have been throughly disappointed with the cleanliness of the gym. I do not put it all on the staff, cause there is a mixture of youth and adults that contributes to the lack of cleanliness, but yesterday 2025-07-13 was very disturbing.

The Men's locker room, looked like where the trash can company dumped trash and I mean that politely. Paper towels were all over the floors, the sauna, and trash was over filling. Might I add no paper towels completely out. I know they are down one person to assist with cleaning, but the little hispanic lady cannot do it all by herself.

The staff should be assisting with basic picking up in the workout area, but that is not being done. Most of the time the staff is sitting on their phones and while the gym area has wipes all over the floor. Again members contribute to the filthyness also, but trash overfilling the staff before closing can assist with that.

Last week, the men's sauna had trash in their for three days straight and when I brought it up to the staff, might I tell you 4 boys were sitting on their phones. They said their looking for a guy to assist with the men's locker room, but you guys can assist with helping out with basic cleanliness. I am really considering revoking my membership.

I'm not sure what is going on with this location. The hot water has been out for over a month, and they continue to mislead their customers on when it will be resolved. I have called every week, and here are the responses I have received: Week #1 - I called on a Friday and the response was, "It should be resolved by Monday". Week #2 - "Maybe this afternoon, but definitely by tomorrow". Week #3 - They are working on it now, so probably later today". Week #4 - "We had to get a new vendor, but they are back there now working on it". Three days ago, "No, it's not fixed". Today they have their phones forwarded to the Burleson location. The very polite young lady forwarded me to the McKinney location and when I started to ask he hung up on me. I called back and the Burleson front desk apologized and said she would call McKinney to get an update. She called me right back and said that they got a new vendor and their working on it now. She provided such great service, but I suspect they were just giving her a line as well. I asked why they have their phones forwarded and she didn't know. But I'm pretty sure they are tired of members calling about the water. Transparency goes a long way, just be honest with your members.

I joined LA Fitness in November 2024 and had to cancel my membership around March 12, 2025, due to personal reasons. I was told my account would remain in a grace period until July 2025, so I could rejoin without paying the annual fee.

I rejoined and Brooks front desk member gave me a signed written note dated April 28, 2025, clearly stating the annual fee would be waived because I already paid it during my previous term. Despite this, I was charged the annual fee. When I followed up, Brooks again confirmed that the amount would be refunded.

It’s now been over a month and I still haven’t received the refund. I feel completely misled and ignored. This is extremely unprofessional and disappointing.

Recently joined the gym. It hasn’t been a great start. The equipment overall has been pretty good so far. It’s not overly crowded mid-afternoon which is good as well. The issues are the WiFi is awful. There hasn’t been hot water in the locker rooms from day one. The biggest issue is how hot it is in there. It hasn’t even been terribly hot outside yet but it’s awful inside. I imagine mid-summer is going to be a big problem. The staff has been ok. I’ve been going to this gym for a while now, and while there are some things I like, there are also a few ongoing issues that really need to be addressed.

The biggest disappointment is that the hot water has been out for over a month. That means no hot showers and no jacuzzi access — which is frustrating, especially since the jacuzzi was the main reason I chose this gym over another one that’s closer to me. There’s been no clear communication on when this will be fixed.

Another issue is the lack of paper towels in men’s room. They often run out and are not refilled promptly. That’s a basic hygiene concern and really shouldn’t be overlooked.

Also, when the weather is hot outside, it gets really hot inside the gym — it doesn’t feel like the ventilation or air conditioning is keeping up.

On the positive side, they do have a good variety of equipment, and everything is fairly well organized. I do appreciate that part of the experience.

Overall, I hope management takes these concerns seriously and starts making some improvements. This gym has potential, but right now it’s falling short in some important areas.

This place is trashy! It's a shame because this place should be poppin! I started coming to this exact gym in 2018. I left for a while, then decided to come back in March 2025 because I loved this gym! The equipment, size of the gym, and incredible staff was why I came back! Boy oh boy has this place changed for the worse. This review will probably be hidden because they LOVE to shadowban bad reviews. I will give credit to some of the staff. I would come in almost daily and a handful of the employees were very sweet and friendly. Especially the kind janitor. The manager is extremely lazy, disrespectful, and has an attitude. The AC is NEVER on or NEVER works! Who in their right mind thinks this is acceptable behavior? What else are they doing or not doing if they’re willing to have something as obvious as the AC being off or broken? I asked Pete twice to make sure the AC was on, and he kindly turned it on. The look on the face of one of the young ladies who worked there when I asked him to do this, man you would’ve thought I ran over her dog! I literally carried around a small portable fan and duct taped it to the treadmill when I would run. I became tired of feeling like I could pass out from heat exhaustion. Go try out the other LA Fitness Mckinney location! Others from this location already are. Brooks, a sales guy called me & I needed to know if I was able to move a family member's current membership over to me since they’ve kept it since 2018, but do not use it. He told me over the phone that he could do that for me so I planned to go up to the gym that evening. I get there, Brooks immediately tells me he cannot move the membership over to my name, which I can understand. What I don't understand is blatantly lying about it! I was nice but I called him out for being sketchy. I decided to get the membership through my work after all of this. I didn't dislike Brooks when I met him, but he became obsessed with me (& not in the cute way!). It became incredibly apparent he was trying to be where I was as much as possible. I eventually made a light-hearted joke about it and he immediately went on the defense. You know, trying to deal with the situation with humor so he gets the point w/o having to get anyone else involved. He stopped for a day or two, then the behavior picked up again. I was cool saying hey how are ya but I couldn't even do that without him falling into his obsessive ways. I started to become scared and helpless, yet he continued to treat me like a TROPHY! BROOKS - IF YOU WERE FOLLOWING ME HOME, YOU BETTER START PRAYING FOR FORGIVENESS! I don't know if there’s something wrong with him, but take your meds dude! There was nothing more I could have done, and no employee was going to believe the whitest white girl over the black guy (BROOKS! You knew this & took advantage of me because of it! You’re 31 years old! You know better!), especially since everyone but 2 or 3 people who work there are black. There’s no white people who work there, & c’mon let's be real, I would have been eaten alive if I said something! Nobody wants to be real enough to say it, but I will because it’s true! I never had an issue with the demographics of people who worked or worked out there. Ask anyone in that building who I interacted with. I absolutely love people, I don't care what you look like. I began showing how uncomfortable I was around him, hoping someone would notice. Someone or some people did and said something. I could tell because Brooks behavior changed drastically overnight. I think I know who, but the whole situation with these people, especially one in particular, was confusing. After all this, these guys would be around me consistently yet not speaking to me, and if they werent, they were talking about me w/ each other. I don't know if this is a huge misunderstanding or if they only got Brooks away from me to gain access to me. I cannot imagine people being that cruel, but I hope I can find out the answers to all my questions soon. This place needs to get it together BIG TIME. Actions have consequences!

I visited this LA Fitness location recently and was really disappointed with the condition of the locker room and bathrooms. There was no hot water in the showers, and no paper towels available anywhere in the restroom area. These are basic hygiene necessities, and it’s concerning to see them overlooked.

When I asked the front desk staff about it, they couldn’t say when the hot water would be fixed, and regarding the paper towels, I was told, “maybe we’ll get them tomorrow.” That kind of uncertainty doesn’t give members much confidence that the issues are being taken seriously.

Pete or the Indian guy at the front desk if Pete is not his real name is terrible. He made it extremely complicated to upgrade my single club membership to a multi membership. We previously signed papers to do this and I came to the gym on numerous occasions up until today he stopped me and said it was still single and he didn't let me into the gym to workout and update on the way out due to my tight schedule with meetings. I really enjoy the Aqua fit classes here—the instructors are excellent and the sessions are always well-led. However, the cleanliness of the pool area is very concerning. There is often visible green algae inside pool and the floor regularly has hair, dirt, and noticeable stains. As someone who values both the quality of instruction and a clean environment, it’s disappointing to see this area not being maintained properly. Our LA fitness in McKinney for the most part is friendly and semi clean. Machines are regularly serviced. But the front desk staff are inexperienced and inefficient when it comes to answering questions on our account, random fees, Javier is the only gentleman that cares about his clients and knows how to help people if their is a doubt or question on anything regarding memberships. The staff in my experience needs more training on how to answer questions appropriately with people skills and mannerisms, the don’t care I just work here attitude isn’t cute.

I've been a member here for years and if I weren't so used to the equipment and my routine I'd probably switch gyms. They have a problem finding staff that will open up the gym on time in the morning and it's practically impossible to speak to anyone that will do anything about this and other issues. They obviously don't care about the state of the gym when they close at night because in the morning the restrooms are disgusting, they will be out of paper towels and towel paper, and there are weights and equipment left everywhere. Also, since prior to the election, they decided that they didn't want any news channels on the TVs so now it's golf channel and 2 versions of ESPN. I even asked and apparently they won't change them back...perhaps they are unhappy with the outcome of the election. This gym is very poorly managed.

I am currently moving from Houston, so I needed to look for a gym. Worst experience ever. I had an appointment with Javier. I walked in and I was greeted. I asked for Javier so we could talk about the gym and I could get a tour of the place. A light skin lady right away got in my conversation and cut me off and said that Javier was on brake. I explain my situation to her and I asked if I could see him because he knew I would be coming at 3. She right away said no, that sadly he is on his brake. That is the worst customer service ever!! I will find another gym. This is why I never liked LA fitness. I was reading all the reviews and it’s sad to say that they been having problems with this location and the owners or management hasn’t done anything about it.

I had a frustrating encounter with a staff member named Javier, who was quite impolite and made me feel uncomfortable. This experience has really discouraged me from returning to this location. It's apparent that he has a pattern of unprofessional behavior, and even some of the other employees have suggested that something needs to be addressed about him.

NEVER COME HERE! I am 15 years old and came with my dad as soon as I entered the old staff said that I am too young even for using the basketball courts and I need a adult with me all the times. Staff is too rude and the place is poorly maintained you can smell the Pee in the pool from a mile away!

The place is wonderful, and I truly love it. The amenities, including the pool and spa, are excellent. However, I've noticed that the shower water is not always cold when needed, which can be an inconvenience. Additionally, while I enjoy using the pool, I've observed that some users occupy the lanes for extended periods without consideration for others who are waiting. Personally, I always offer to share my lane when I see someone waiting, but not everyone does. This is the only aspect I find a bit frustrating.

Even though this location is a bit outdated, this is still my preferred gym. You can always see someone around keeping the place clean and organized. Love all the cardio machines separated on the second floor. Would definitely be a 5 stars if it was upgraded.

Update as of June 2024: this place is going down the hill, unfortunately...so is my rating. When things break, it takes months to repair. The front desk staff can also improve.

I’ve been sitting on reviewing this place for the last month and a half to two months to really process why I left. First and foremost, the biggest reason was Kids Care! My daughter has been with me every single time I worked out at UFC fit, Cowboys fit, And now crunch fitness. Those places never complained about my daughter ever. Miss Mayta Her supposedly been there for 17 years. Previous review from Savannah she said it perfectly. From the time that I got a membership there, the services went downhill. And at least 2/5 of the time, I had to pull my daughter out of Kids Care for one reason or another. Whether I was a bad parent or not. And having to contact People who watched her to see what her behavior was around other kids. Wasn’t my daughter, it was the person watching her. Also, a very scary thing about LA Fitness was the fact that at one point, they hired two helpers for The lady, put them to work the first week they could, only fire them because they couldn’t pass the background check. With that being said, what are people who can’t pass background check doing around my daughter!?!?

Secondly, one of the trainers, Clara was totally Disrespectful and unprofessional. Only one week to be in a member there, I got shoot out by her because I was using the punching bags as she was teaching in class. I was at the gym I couldn’t get to the bag. I couldn’t put my daughter in Kids Care. And I really wanted to use the bags. how she handled me in front of everyone was absolutely disrespectful and I shouldn’t be the one that had diffused the situation.

For the most part, the equipment was fine. But it wasn’t well-maintained. For the most part if another member saw you waiting for something, they would work with you and finish their set so you can use the machine next. The dumbbell area, was always overcrowded though.

The basketball court used to be super accessible and they used to have balls for you to use. Other gyms had basketball courts would require you to check out a ball. In order to prevent stealing. Doesn’t do that. And you have to bring your own. It wasn’t always like that, but eventually they got sick and tired of replacing the balls.

The staff was amazing When I first got there. But after a month, the people who replaced the staff were lazy, Not very intent, and also very shortstaffed as well. Very unprofessional.

The cycling room was actually pretty cool. And so were most of the cardio machines. However, back to speaking about the studio, if a class was not going on, The front desk would turn off the lights from the front. Either you would have to go ask them to turn the lights on, and hear a bunch of bullshit excuses why they can’t turn them on. Or, they would ask if people are there To use the space to justify turning the lights on.

So with no lights or cameras, it’s an unsafe place to be for men or women.

Overall, it was not a total experience is the reason why I gave it to stars instead of just one. The people at the snack bar are very friendly, there’s a gentleman there who helps out with Kids club that is super amazing and the machines are very useful. But with all the other complaints that I have with it, I will never go back to the particular location.

I've stopped in at this location 2 different times in an attempt to join. No one is ever available to assist so I stand at the front desk and wait, and wait... A woman, who is obviously an employee, walks toward and then past the desk. I ask her if anyone is available to help me. Her response: "There should be. There's some guys sitting at desks around the corner; ask them." A man who was on the phone says "I'm doing 3 different things. What did you need?" At that point I knew I wouldn't be joining. I called to speak with the manager and guess who answers!? The guy who said he's busy doing 3 different things! He tells me on the phone that he offered to help me. What a joke!! Not only is the customer service lousy but the manager lies!!

Not my normal gym, but I came this week for Spring Break and they do not turn on the air. It is soooo hot in here. My workouts are miserable because my body is working over tine trying to cool me down. I do not sweat this profusely at my normal gym.

Came in today looking to do the free 3 day trial. Man who “helped” me said my only options were to pay for the guest pass or membership. Curious as to why he dismissed me mentioning the free-trial, so I asked they didn’t do the free trial? Saying my only options were guest pass or membership. Again, dismissing the free trial question. I was willing to do the guest pass but he was very rude on his approach. I told him I’m not from here and wanted to check out this gym and he continued to make a rude comment that he said the same thing to Whataburger but still had to pay?? Whilst having a whataburger cup on his desk. Rudest and most unnecessary comment. I rather not continue a conversation with him, so I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. Someone definitely peed in his cereal this morning to get him that grumpy.

Has a lot of great equipment, plenty of machines to use. The sauna is nice too. But always dirty. Gunk on the floors and in between cracks in the machines. I don’t think I’ve seen cleaning personnel once. Also constantly feels muggy as if the A/C is not on.

I hate leaving reviews but after today i had to, i went there to get the 3 days gym trial to see if it would fit my work to home routine better than my present gym but the manager was extremely unhelpful, made sure to not get my business, didn’t tried to help me at all, looks like he was there just for the paycheck because he put no effort on helping me, im not going back for any reason, ive been with La fitness for years and even worked for the company and never seen a treatment like that, I really hope that gets fixed or this place is not going anywhere but downhills

I have been a member of this gym for about two years and the place has gone downhill in recent months.
The employee responsible for opening up this location in the morning is incapable of actually showing up on time to open the gym.  This guy seems to have been employed after the 1st of this year and it has been really inconsistent.  There have been many times the gym only opened up on time because the janitor is the only one that can be bothered to show up.
I just left the gym this morning at 5:15am and the location was still locked up with members sitting in the parking lot waiting.
This has been an ongoing problem that doesn't seem to be improving.  I will be cancelling 3 memberships due to the poor management of this location and lack of oversight by a general manager.  You can't run a business like this and expect people to spend money for this kind of service.

The staff is super friendly and I have have a great experience with personal training as well as the classes have been fun. I'm going to cancel my membership due to the kids club staff. Ms Mayta apparently has been there for 17 years. I was here 2 years ago and she did a great job with my infant but this time around has been a nightmare. She held her hand over a kids mouth and yanked him by his hoody. Also she slammed the blocks on the counter after a girl spilled some of them out. So sad. I can't have my children in this toxic environment.

Staff is very friendly. Always very polite. Review is based on how extremely dirty the bikes are in spin class. They need a full blow detail bc these are arguably the worst bikes I’ve seen in over 13yrs I’ve been a member. Please address and I will update review.

Gym needs to install fans, upgrade AC and upgrade insulation. I was a member of the gym across the street and it was never hot in there but I wanted a pool, this is Texas, you need to have proper cooling. Always very hot in that and uncomfortable. Even if they just had some fans it would make a difference but there are no fans in the facility.
