Thankfully once Crunch Fitness opens in Rowlett, this piece of trash gym can go out of business. The Planet Fitness in Rowlett is 1000x better than this trash. Seeing LA fitness going under makes me smile. LA fitness about to lose all their customers soon now that Crunch Fitness opening soon now. Good riddance of this establishment .

We go to this LA Fitness every Friday morning around 10 a.m. to play 5-on-5 basketball — it’s something we look forward to every week. Unfortunately, our experience today was terrible. While we were in the middle of a game, one guy came in and made a huge deal about us using the whole court. Normally, if anyone else comes in, they just jump in and play with us — no issues at all.

Instead, this one person complained to the staff, and the employees actually came into the court and kicked all ten of us off — just so one person could shoot around on half the court. It was ridiculous and handled really poorly. Instead of trying to find a reasonable solution, they sided with one person over ten paying members who were already using the space.

It’s really disappointing how little common sense and customer service was shown. I’ve been a consistent member and never had an issue until now, but after today, I’ll be canceling my membership.

Disappointed by Ongoing Safety Issues – Membership Canceled

I’ve been a member at LA Fitness in Rowlett for a year, but unfortunately, I’ve had to cancel my membership due to repeated safety concerns. In the past six months, my wallet and car keys have been stolen twice—once from inside the locker room and most recently from my car in the parking lot.

What made last night’s incident especially frustrating was that they broke into my vehicle — a car worth over $120,000. That was the final straw for me.

You might ask, “Why not just go to a better gym?” Truth is, this is the only decent gym within a 20-mile radius of Garland and Rowlett. I stuck with it because of proximity — but safety has to come first.

What’s even more troubling is that this doesn’t seem to be an isolated issue. The responding police officer mentioned he’s been called to this location 8–9 times this year alone for similar incidents. That was a sobering moment.

It’s disheartening that car break-ins have become so common here that they almost feel routine. From my perspective, the gym management hasn’t taken meaningful steps to address the problem. At the very least, hiring a dedicated security guard to patrol the parking lot could help deter future incidents and reassure members that their safety matters.

I hope LA Fitness takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary changes to protect its members.

Prior to this she and I worked together to get upper management to reach out, and those attempts were unsuccessful. This 5-Star rating is attributed to one individual who works at the Rowlett, Texas gym. That person is Damion. He does an exceptional job of ensuring the proper level of cleanliness throughout the gym. The men’s locker room, bathroom, showers, and pool area are always clean and fresh smelling when he works. He is the only maintenance personnel I see that is constantly cleaning throughout my entire visit, which is normally around 2 hours. He mops, wipe down counters, clean mirrors and glass doors, toilets and even sprays the lockers for freshness. I’ve been coming there for 5 years and have never seen anyone that is constantly cleaning my entire visit. I think he goes above and beyond while doing an exceptional job and should be recognized for his efforts!

I had an excellent experience at this gym thanks to Corey. From the day I signed up, he was incredibly professional, welcoming, and supportive. He made the registration process smooth and took the time to answer all my questions with patience and clarity.

Corey always has a positive attitude and goes above and beyond to help members feel comfortable and motivated. It's unfortunate to hear that he might be moved to another location, because I truly believe he is a valuable asset to this gym.

His presence makes a difference, and I sincerely hope the management reconsiders and allows him to stay. People like Corey are rare, and he is a key part of what makes this gym great.

Update #2: Aug 2025 - well I'm still a member because it is the closest gym for workouts before work, but I go to club 4 fitness whenever I have the time. Bathrooms are still destroyed, kids club still closed. They did replace all and add an additional stair machine, added a hip thrust machine, and hired an additional person to help clean/repair. Still not a great gym for the price but location location location. See pictures added.

Update: kids club is closed indefinitely. Cancelling our membership had been very difficult. Location has cut staffing. Equipment is frequently broken. Bathrooms are always dirty with no paper towels. We go to club 4 in Murphy now. Bigger, Better facilities and cheaper.

This location has a great variety of free weights, weighted machines and cable machines. They also have a full size basketball court, Olympic pool, five rachet ball courts, and a very large group fitness room. Oh and a really nice spin room. A great gym!

The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the bathrooms are pretty rough. I always make sure to use the bathroom before going to this gym or stop at a gas station on the way.

I travel around DFW for work, and I chose la fitness because they have multiple locations. I've probably been to 10 or so, and the one in rowlett is by far the worst. The place is disgusting really. I dont think ive seen paper towels in the men's restroom in a month. Toilets are gross, urinals dont get cleaned, fyi, you're supposed to change the urinal mats. if it smells like piss, its time to change them. They cost $2.
Things that are broken stay broken. A Smith machine has been down for MONTHS, 4-5 treadmills are broken. 3 of the 5 stationary bikes DONT have straps for the foot pedals. A few weeks ago they had a pipe burst in the lockerrooms, there were no men's restroom at all. They said they were updating the bathroom, but its still filthy, nothing was updated, and the spin room had a massive puddle of water from an obvious flood.
The equipment is not horrible, but if it breaks, it stays broken for MONTHS (if it ever gets fixed). All of the equipment is pretty basic, 1 squat rack,1 working Smith machine, 2 other stations a few cables. No kettlebells, no olympic bars, no trap bar or specialty barbells. Tvs that dont work, a lot of wasted sq footage (like the personal training area).
As far as employees, ive been coming here for years and ive seen a handful of trainers, but other than that, I wouldnt recognize anybody that works here. No clue who the manager is.

I have a strong feeling some time around November this location is going to see a HUGE drop in members. The one on coit/George bush and the one in richardson/garland are WAY better, more modern features etc.

Terrible experience coming to LA Fitness this evening. Checked in at 9:25pm to get a quick workout in & the young blond guy working the evening shift 07/25/25 at the front desk greeted me with “Hello, you know we have like 35 minutes to close right?”. I responded “I do know” & he quickly followed with “Okay, just making sure” in a very condescending tone. This was a very rude greeting and remark made by this employee & implies LA Fitness does not welcome guests to enter its facility after 9:25pm i.e., more than half an hour til close. Would not recommend this particular LA Fitness location, nor this employee running the front desk — a position which requires customer service for LA Fitness guests.

Gym goers may have a better guest experience at the soon-opening Crunch Fitness down the street in Rowlett

1 Star - Absolutely the Worst LA Fitness Location

This is hands down the worst LA Fitness I’ve ever been to. Half the treadmills are constantly broken — either the hand controls don’t work, or the incline is stuck, or both. It’s like playing Russian roulette just trying to get a decent cardio session in.

The overall maintenance of the facility is a joke. There’s visible rust damage from the pool as you walk in, especially around the glass — not only is it an eyesore, but it screams neglect and safety issues. And don’t even get me started on the bathrooms. At one point, they had every single bathroom closed — men’s, women’s, and even the family bathroom — for 2–3 days straight. Pretty sure it’s illegal to run a public facility with no working restrooms. Total disregard for basic health and sanitation.

As for the workout machines? Most are in rough shape, outdated, or just flat-out broken. You’d think they’d use off-hours to clean and repair things, but no — they’ll wait until peak hours, then kick you off a machine to clean it or “fix” it. It’s completely backwards and disruptive.

This place is falling apart and management clearly doesn’t care. Don’t waste your money — this gym gives LA Fitness a bad name.

I’m extremely disappointed with the cleanliness and maintenance at this gym. Sanitation is clearly not a priority, wipes and cleaning supplies are consistently unavailable for days at a time, despite the high volume of members using the equipment daily. It’s unacceptable to pay monthly dues and not even be able to wipe down a machine after multiple people have used it.

On top of that, the environment can feel uncomfortable, especially for women. If you're perceived as attractive, expect to be bothered by members who seem more interested in flirting than working out. I've decided to switch gyms because I value a clean, respectful, and professional workout environment, and unfortunately, this location doesn’t meet those basic standards.

I almost wish Covid would come back. I honestly think that was the last time this gym was kept clean. The had a new guy about a month ago and he was doing any amazing job but there was no one to clean womens locker room restroo or showers. The manager says they can only have someone part time. That doesn't work. I explained to her that if she was cleaning she was only doing half way. Her reply..

The cost cutting measures this location has taken are laughable yet disrespectful to the members. They removed a paper towel station from the mens room and replaced it with hand sanitizer….you have to walk across the bathroom to obtain paper towels to find out it has to be refilled. Go to another gym if you can.

Had to go to Sachse's gym since the pool was closed for some reason or another and I was shocked at how much nicer it was and you can tell they care about your safety when swimming due to the life preservers close by and a list of rules! The desk has a clear view of the pool, which is great if you run into a "problem". The staff was very friendly and called me by my name the two times I used their facility! And to also mention, although a bit smaller, the cleanliness of the women's locker room was a shock to me! The lighting was fabulous and so bright! The showers looked brand new and it was nice not having to deal with nasty hair or curtains that don't stay completely closed and other nasty things I will not mention! And the swim lanes, they actually put a T at the end of your lane so you know when to do a flip turn or just even when to stop before hitting the side!! Very much enjoyed my swim! Got some major improving to do Rowlett!

Terrible experience. This gym refuses to fix or improve its equipment, and it’s incredibly frustrating. The treadmills are especially dangerous — they often stop abruptly without warning, which can easily lead to serious injury. Multiple complaints have been ignored, and it’s clear they don’t care about member safety. Save your money and go somewhere that actually maintains their equipment and values their members’ well-being.

This management of this gym refuse to use the a/c apparently. It's ALWAYS hot and humid inside and there are no fans anywhere in this gym to circulate air. It also takes them over 6 months to fix machines when they break. They should really lower the price of this gym for what you get.

Gear up for an essay, a read if you will.

In the year of our Lord Erykah Badu 2025 anno domini, this place is still a mess.

From a historical perspective, the place exudes a certain type of colonial disdain for people of colored as upon myself and a family member walked in, we weren't greeted and the woman in front didn't even look up to greet us or meet our gaze. She was fumbling with what appeared to be a call to corporate and when I realized I needed and began to look for my free trial pass in my email she still failed to even greet us, we were figuring this out on our own.

Next when she finally apologized to her corporate meeting which we could obviously hear (stop rushing your employees onto the phone) she then proceeded to let us know what our situation was and let us both know that we'd have to talk to sales since although my family member's pass scanned, it needed to be "activated" and we both needed to talk to sales.

She proceeded to beckon us to her rather harrowed looking college who was sat across from the front desk in a sales area that looked more like a corporate sycophant viper pit of sales and beaucracy and totally out of place for a, frankly, subpar looking facility.

Glancing up only slightly, while his corporate viper pit meeting was blaring over his speakerphone which we could hear, and only two decibels louder do we hear from him "I'll be right with you guys after this call".

Now I'm in a kerfuffle, I'm apparently supposed to have an email, my family member's email might very been invalid, we haven't been greeted and we're been bombarded by bombastic corporate meetings we've been subjected to against our will.

However to the front woman's defense i hated hearing her apologize so profusely to her team as she did mention she had to help two other people, then I'm guessing she had to hop on the call right as we walked in. That is one hell of a corporate failure and her neither her collegue likely don't get paid anything near what they SHOULD.

Overall, I didn't feel welcome, the process was needlessly beaucracatic and has the signature of Colin Robinson from What We Do in the Shadows all over it.

From a marketing perspective as a professional, this was just sad overall from the lack of customer service to the obvious sales attempt (we left after the guy told us to wait because just no).

I would offer some words of improvement but ultimately Rome needs to fall.

When I was being sold my membership, I was assured that even during aquaclasses there was always a lane open for lap swimmers. I went three times and never swam once. I was told the first time that I wasn’t allowed to be there during classes. Then they threw the instructor under the bus and said she didn’t know and that they would speak to her. Then I was told there was a sign saying there was no lap swimming during classes for my safety.
For a large space, it seemed very cramped and they didn’t have a variety of equipment. I miss Texas Family Fitness. What a great facility we had. I never saw anyone cleaning equipment after using a piece of equipment.
I picked up trash off the floor every time I was there(I can’t stand being in a filthy environment).
Anyway, they promised me a refund. I hope this doesn’t turn into another battle.

Just came back to LA Fitness Rowlett after trying out another gym. It has gone downhill. It’s hot inside, many of the machines aren’t in working condition. The sanitizing stations never seemed to be stocked. To top it off, I came to the gym this morning to workout and no one is here to open the gym. A group of us have been waiting at the door since they were supposed to open at 8 am and no one is here to open. I waited until 8:30 before leaving. Do not recommend.

There are so many machines that are outdated. To give you an example of how old, a lot of these machines still have an aux cord for the original iPhone port. Not to mention that many of the machines are out of service and have been out of service for many weeks. As of 12/27/24 there are at least 3 machines down plus another 5 cardio machines.

A gym is a gym and it doesnt matter where you go to achieve your fitness goals, you’re not going to achieve your goals if you don’t move the weight/ equipment. However, if you’re one of those persons that takes prework out or drinks coffee before a workout and waits for the caffeine to take effect before going to the gym, don’t come here. The bathrooms are always disgusting at any time of the day first hour in the morning or late at night which tells you no one cleans it. Also, no soap or paper towels after to wash your hands so that means all the equipment on the floor is contaminated with poop particles. Other than that no complains the gym is to work out but don’t come here to use the bathroom

Employees need proper training and knowledge over guidelines. Especially you “Elijah”

For the first time in two years I am writing a review on this location.

I completed my workout this morning and on my way out of the gym I saw two weight measuring scales. One manual and the other is digital… I wanted to use the digital… while checking my weight, one of the employees “Elijah”, seems like a new guy, said I cant use the digital and we customers are entitled to use only the manual one. He was so authoritative on what equipment customers can and cannot use.

I have been to many locations of LA fitness for years and this is the first time I saw such rule that we customers cant use the digital weight machine.

Why do I pay the membership for..

Show me this rule in your LA fitness guidelines and I will quite working out.

I work out for over 30 and have been a member at different gyms along the years. This is def the worst LA fitness I have ever been. This location in Rowlett is the worst. Extremely dirty, hot (they don’t turn on the ac. It’s like 80 degrees here during the summer !) and they don’t enforce basic rules like DONT WORK OUT BAREFOOT ! That’s disgusting. No etiquette not from the staff. And even less from the members. Corporate must do something about this location it is really awful. Club4fitness costs $10 and is FRESH ac works better than this one and much much cleaner. This gym should be shut down.

Alex Rithy is an excellent trainer and nutrition coach who helped me have a better workout in only 30 minutes, as opposed to the 45 minutes I was doing. I feel better, and we got my heart rate exactly where it should be. This is my favorite workout place now.

Upon arrival, I approached the front desk and politely asked about buying a day pass. The staff member, who appeared to be a teenager, responded by simply stating, 'You'll have to do that tomorrow.' I calmly asked for clarification or a reason for the denial, but was met with the same response, 'You'll have to do that tomorrow,' without any further explanation or apology.

The interaction was abrupt and dismissive, lacking the basic customer service I would expect from any establishment. I left confused by the lack of clear communication and the seemingly arbitrary denial of service. As I saw many came in without any scanning and one person paid cash ?

Given the absence of a logical explanation, I couldn't help but wonder if the denial was somehow related to my accent, as I am not originally from this country. I hope this is not the case, as discrimination based on national origin or accent is unacceptable.

As a fitness enthusiast, I was excited to join LA fitness, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From the moment I walked in, it was evident that the cleanliness standards were lacking. The equipment looked worn-out and some even appeared to be broken, making it difficult to have a productive workout.

Furthermore, the manager/staff(Christopher and his team) seemed disinterested and unhelpful. I had questions about certain exercises and proper form, but when I approached them, I was met with indifference. It felt like they were just there to punch the clock rather than assist members in reaching their fitness goals.

Another major issue was the overcrowding. It was nearly impossible to use the machines or find a spot in the free weight area during peak hours. Despite paying a hefty membership fee, I found myself constantly waiting for equipment, which significantly impacted my workout routine.

To make matters worse, the locker rooms were poorly maintained, with dirty floors and malfunctioning lockers. It was not a pleasant experience trying to change and freshen up after a workout in such subpar conditions.

Overall, my time at LA Fitness was disappointing and frustrating. For the price I paid, I expected a much higher level of service and facility upkeep. Sadly, I cannot recommend this gym to others looking for a positive fitness environment in Rowlette.

I would like to share my recent experience about this gym location. I have been working out here since last 3 years but I never seen this kind of behavior from an employee. One of my friend visited this location for the new membership and asked about the 3 days free trail pass but there is an employee name Christopher, which he claim himself as a manager but somehow I found he is just an employee who is trying to ruin the image of an well named franchisee. He tried to charged my friend $20 for the free trail and showing the attitude like he owns the gym. I recently had a very disappointing experience at LA Fitness, and I feel compelled to share my feedback. Upon arriving at the gym with a guest pass, we were met with extreme rudeness from a person who claimed to be the manager, Christopher.

Despite being told that our guest passes would last for three days, Christopher bluntly insisted they were only valid for one day. When we questioned the inconsistency, he dismissively stated, "I don't know why you were told that, it's not my business." His lack of accountability and unhelpful attitude left us frustrated.

Furthermore, when we sought leniency or clarification due to the misinformation, Christopher insisted on a $20 payment with a cold reminder that "this is a business." Despite having a family member as a loyal LA Fitness member for two years, and a legitimate means to obtain a guest pass, we were denied entry unless we paid.

It is disheartening to witness such ego-filled behavior from an employee at a well-established franchise like LA Fitness. Christopher's actions made us feel unwelcome and treated as if we were attempting to scam the company. His lack of knowledge about the company's own policies, evident in the three-day pass information available online, added to our frustration.

In any service industry, one expects employees to be kind and helpful, qualities sorely lacking in our encounter with Christopher. It is disappointing that the reputation of a renowned fitness chain like LA Fitness is tarnished by such unprofessional behavior. We ultimately left the gym to avoid further mistreatment by this employee.

I hope this feedback prompts a reevaluation of employee conduct and customer service at your establishment.

This is my home gym. I have visited at least a half dozen LA Fitness locations in DFW, and this location remains my favorite. Since moving to Terrell, it is a 45 minute drive, one way. However, I choose to make that drive to go to this fantastic location. Having a shattered tailbone sitting in the car is quite painful, however, in doing hot/cold therapy each time I go, I am able to effectively combat that pain, making it well worth the trip.

In August 2023 I walked in with a friend who was a member of this club to inquire about the membership/pricing. The person who helped me said I could sign up and pay for one month of membership, pay the sign-up fee (or initiation fee, I'm not sure of the exact terminology of this one time charge), and then cancel at any time. When I did cancel a few days later (for reasons unrelated to the quality of the gym itself) they told me that I would receive a refund of the sign-up fee (I'm assuming for cancelling so close to the original sign-up date) and that I would stop receiving charges. A few months passed and I never got the refund I was told I would get, which is fine, I assumed the sign-up fee was non-refundable anyway. The reason I am so displeased is because I was recently, in December, charged another unspecified fee from them. I wish I could score this company lower than one star; I have tried to communicate with them several times and they are still making this brief membership a nuisance to me. Keep in mind, I discussed all of this with them in person, not over the phone, so it should have been easy for them to close my account when I was present and asking them to do so. I feel that LA Fitness, Rowlett does not put the customer first when it comes to transactions and maintains a difficult and tedious cancellation process, likely to try and bribe customers to stay lazy and keep the charge on their card. They would rather try and sneak another month of payment from me than work with me and make sure my request to cancel my membership was honored. Ultimately, very poor service. It isn't enough to provide "state-of-the-art" equipment: I can get into shape at any outdated or small gym, but customer service will always be a deal-breaker.

I went today 10/19/2023 at LA Fitness just to do exercise at 7:00 pm and this woman did not let me in because apparently I have not paid. The person that made my account I do not know what he did. The woman did not want me to let me in just to see how was there. I guess she is the owner of LA Fitness. What a rude owner. Then she told me that someone will be fire and she did not let me speak . I have gone to other LA fitness and the persons that are at the desk are nice people they give opportunity instead of judging.
Instead of threatening, I had not had a bad experience like that anywhere before, today was that day. By the way there was another person like me that had an expired pass and she let that person in.

honestly this gym has gone downhill. i’ve been coming for over two years and this gym has become crusty. there have been absolutely no upgrades/remodels whatsoever. the equipment is very old and rusty as well. the dumbbells make your hands smell and no matter how many times you clean it you’re gonna have that sweaty metal smell on you. they haven’t added any new machines, they don’t even have a hip thrust machine and the smith machines don’t even go low enough to do hip thrusts on them. management seems good though i’m sure it’s not their fault that there’s been no upgrades to this gym. this gym is nowhere near worth $40 a month. this is a $10 a month gym. i’ve only stayed here because of its convenient location but i would’ve moved to planet fitness if i didn’t use barbells. the planet fitness has much newer equipment for $10 a month. overall, this gym has become boring and a waste of money. the reputation that LA Fitness has built for themselves isn’t held up at this location.
