I like the gym, but the staff aren’t very welcoming or friendly. The last time I went, one of the staff members intentionally threw a basketball as I was exiting toward the front desk area, where the computers are. I'm not sure how or why a staff member is allowed to do that. Feel free to check the cameras. The membership is under my name. I canceled my membership because of this incident.

I moved to this gym and upgraded when I was told by the manager Chris that I could get access to this and other LA fitness gyms by upgrading - then I could later downgrade at some point with my new home gym. I wanted this gym only so I did the upgrade since he told me that was the only way I could accomplish this.

After paying 50+ month for several months- I went in to downgrade today to them as my primary home gym and was told that is not possible and I will not get to change my home gym. Chris then denied he ever told me this although it is entire reason I upgraded. So beware unless you get things in writing from here.

The actual gym is okay. It’s old with old equipment and smells weird in the locker room sometimes. I liked it for the treadmill sometimes and the childcare when I couldn’t run outside.

They also have people pooping on the floor in their locker room. Sooooo yea

All I got to say is “MONICA”!! Definitely don’t have experience as of GM smh gave me every excuse in the book for my 16-year-old 17-year-old couldn’t enter the gym after I gave them a VIP pass Monica never had a sign up saying that they need to bring a Texas driver license for kids that are under 18 ! Aqua Fit classes used to be excellent workouts mostly because of highly motivated instructors that ensured they gave their best to provide a good workout. Unfortunately, good instructors are leaving because they get paid better at other fitness centers. Nowadays, good instructors are not even showing up to their assigned classes and instead the majority of classes are taught by mediocre substitutes. Actually, the majority of Aqua Fit instructors are mediocre and do the bare minimum. A new trend is also to start the class late and leave early giving us from 30-45 minutes of class. Instructors get paid $25 per class, no matter the size of the class. Other fitness centers pay at a rate of $10 or more per class. I have never seen someone checking that the instructors are teaching Aqua Fit based on the description “…a challenging,50-minute water-based workout for all fitness levels, providing strength and cardio…” therefore, low pay and lack of accountability are the reasons why we are getting such mediocre classes and instructors. I have three LA Fitness within a four-mile radius and this week I don’t have a single class to attend because of the lousy instructors. A group of us have moved on and are attending classes at Fitness Connect. I have sent messages to corporate and have yet to see any changes, on the contrary, it has gotten worse.
Suggest looking into Fitness Connect, YMCA, Gold’s Gym, and many other fitness centers in the area.

The place is new, plenty of machines, not very crowded and way cheaper than Golda Gym. Has a juice bar, pool, full basketball court, sauna, bath.

Post pandemic update:
Been a few years since the original review and a few more since cancelling my membership. They had finally opened during the lockdowns but accessories were largely locked up so I brought my own handles and bars to hook up to the machines, no big deal. But the deal breaker was requiring us to wear masks WHILE WORKING OUT! I honestly tried for about a week, my workouts were not as fulfilling, they took a lot longer, and I think I nearly passed out a few times having to sit down and pull the mask away from my face so I can breathe fresh air. They caved to the pressure and required their patrons to do something antithetical to what you come to the gym for. So I told them to cancel my membership and delete my CC payment info out of their system so it didn't sneakily re-up my 3-year membership when it came due in 3-4 months. 5 stars to 2 just because of that, yes. Gold's did the same to my buddy and he refused to wear a mask they called the police on him...twice before finally cancelling his membership. So I will never go back to a LA Fitness or Gold's Gym (unless I had a free membership).

Honestly this is my favorite location. The time I go is usually dead ( which I absolutely love and no, I’m not saying what time 🤣). I really hope they keep this gym the way it is. The gym is conveniently located next to my job. I wish it were open 24 hours, but that’s not a problem. I usually go when it's less crowded, as I work night shifts. The front desk staff is fantastic, and the facility is clean. As long as the sauna and hot tub are operational each time I visit, I will always rate it five stars. This location could be a diamond with some tender love and care. The equipment is always broken especially the stairmaster. They have been broken since January. The one that works makes a loud clicking noise and the stairs needs aligning. Highly recommend placing an approximate return to service date on the out of order sign. Also more wipe stations through the facility will be a plus. Customers are prone to wiping down equipment when wipes are available and nearby.

My experience at this place has been a terrifying nightmare ! I have been a member since June of 2024 then I left in October and I came back bcuz I was uneasy with the fact that this gym allows male custodians to go in to the women’s dressing room bathroom areas using the excuse that they are custodians and are there to clean . Last month my first nightmare was that a custodian followed me to women’s dressing area in to the pool area where I was doing laps he kept looking at me swim it made me unneasy I left I went to the women’s dressing area bathroom stall to get dressed / he could have gone the route of the men’s access but he went through the women’s access. Following me back in to the women’s area breaking their own policy of supposedly they are supposed to inform people they are coming in well he came in via the pool area passing thru the showers and sauna and made his way to the stall where I was at and he knew I was at the corner one he violently shook it attempting to get in and stood by door looking at me I was naked I had taken off my bathing suit I was terrified I quickly put my clothes on he stood back towards sink area with a view of the slithery door from a distance I came out and yelled at him and he smiled an evil grin stating he yelled out and informed people he was coming in when I had seen him stalking me in the pool I ran to the front and reported him because there was another female in her bras in the other side of room scared the front desk did nothing I hit in my car rushed to my home and called the police immediately the police investigated calling the manager and this company tried to say that upon reviewing the footage they believe custodian might have elbowed the stall by mistake and it caused the door to shake violently . 3 problems the cop saw with this story 1. There are no cameras in bathroom or dressing room that you claim you reviewed .2 the trash can was more than 10 feet away from the stall on another wall and the stall was a corner stall which made it a wall next to it a walk way in which no trash can would be in the way 3 does not change the fact he was standing literally atheist of door looking at me . They took it as my word against his so incident number 2 this week just 2 days ago I walked in to gym after work I go straight to dressing room to dress out and guess who follows me in there I go in stall change out guess who is in women’s bathroom again this time there was other women that were there and he was just pretending to throw trash standing at a distance from the stall still in a perfect place to still watch thru the stall and other women were in the dressing room bathroom stall and shower areas . This time I took pictures and made a second police report . This is so scary for women this place has no respect for your privacy as a woman and a custodian man has the right to watch us pee in the toilet get dressed take a shower get undressed all because he has a sign that says he is working they have the right to take away your rights. If you have women in your life sisters girlfriends wives aunts neighbors stand up for us cancel these folks like I did why are we paying memberships so that they can allow custodians to live of fantasies of voyerism in our dressing rooms

A lot of the weight plates here are stuck together. I'll be lifting and suddenly one will unstick and slam down, putting a big stress on my muscles because I am mid rep. Im surprised nobody has gotten hurt yet. Its many machines. I did report it but they said its the machine guys fault. Either way it should be addressed. Staff is very nice.

I've been a member since 1993, so I was very lucky to get the renewal that I have. The gym is always clean and the staff are very helpful. The cleaning crew is always working and keeping the gym clean & inviting. I've been going to this gym regularly since I got back to San Antonio from Los Angeles County, California, in 2012. This is my go-to gym. Even though it's 15 miles from my home, I will continue going here until they build another LA Fitness in my area.

So..... I wanted to go swimming in this one. But when I walked in, there was an elderly couple in the front of the pool (by the entrance) "canoodling", like she was literally kissing his neck, if you know what i mean. Like, can I please just go swim my laps without being distressed by your indecent display of public affection? None of the LA fitness reps noticed anything to say anything, including the 2 reps by the front desk. Like I really didn't want to go to the 1604 one until that moment. I didn't even swim my laps that day because who knows what else they were doing.

I went there on eastern Sunday around 2pm and it was not busy at all. The crowd is slightly older than what you would see on neighboring gyms, that’s a plus for me, however in relation to the gym equipment, it feels a little bit outdated compared to other gyms near by. I was here for a few days for work and having gone to LA Fitness before, so I already knew they had everything I would need. I called up and talked with the salesman TAY I believe his name was. He was a very down to earth kind of guy and very professional. He was able to take care of me, and I was able to enjoy a few workout sessions. This place is huge, has nice equipment, has all the equipment you would ever need, and then some. If I come back, I know where to go! This is a great gym! There is lots and lots of space and equipment, both freeweights and cardio. It's also never too crowded to work out, no matter the day or time. The staff at the desk are helpful and friendly, I would say Solomon stands out above the rest. He is not only outgoing and kind but will make you feel like a friend immediately. He always gives 110% and goes out of his way even if that means cleaning the facilities and bathroom when there are no custodian services like on Sunday. If I need anything, I always feel free to ask or let any of the staff know. What I would like to see more at this location is more regular cleaning of the facilities and equipment like the dumbells, freeweights and the bathrooms on Sunday like when Solomon is working. Other than that this gym is a very chill and a relaxing environment to lift in. They have bikes, a pool, a basketball court, a gym. They also have a big locker room with a sauna and plenty of freeweights and cardio equipment. All in all, this was a pleasent place to work out at while I've been in school on the north side. I come from the DFW area. I'm just here with my son on base for a few months. I was able to just purchase the months I needed with no hassle or haggle of membership. Plus, this is a Super Clean gym. I’ve been going to this gym for about 4 months even though I’ve had my membership for about 2 years lol.
I go in the mornings, between 9-11am. It’s pretty empty for the most part, the later you go the more crowded it gets.

The crew is very chill, everyone always says hi and goodbye and seems to be enjoying their time there. There was only one girl who had an attitude for no reason and it was the one time I went at night. Maybe she had a bad day.
The place is always clean. I’ve never used the sauna or the pool so I can’t comment on that.

There are cons, but I feel like most of those are out of their control. Cars get broken into outside, usually at night. There’s new glass on the floor at least every week. I’d suggest more light outside, but again, I feel like that’s out of their control.
The machines break down and stay broken down for a while, I’m sure there’s only so many people who fix can these machines so it may take a while to get them back running.

I’m pretty sure when I signed up, I paid for the most expensive initiation fee specifically to get the $35 dollar per month fee but apparently it’s 38.99, I thought, maybe they calculated tax? Nope, it comes out to $42 and change on my statement.
Maybe the sales person that sold me the gym membership lied to me, maybe I misunderstood, maybe the prices just went up without me knowing about it. It’s a little shady but not a deal breaker, just make sure they’re not selling you something that’s not true.
Overall, I’ve had a good experience.
I’ve lost about 40lbs now and have gotten a lot stronger.

With the competition out there, they need to do better!
I've been in the gym for about 3 months now. The location is great. Environment is great. My biggest challenges are:
1. The broken machines that never get fixed. For example, there are several broken treadmills that are still broken for weeks. Sometimes there's a service sign that's placed on it but they take too long to pay attention to the machine. I've one machine that I love, the hip adduction machine, which the gym only has one and it's broken and never fixed. Why they don't fix these machines, I have no clue.
2. The machines are never wiped. Not all patrons treat gym machines the same. Some wipe after use, and some don't. But the gym does not do their part in wiping these machines down like other gyms do. For example, I use the stair climber a lot. But you always see dry sweat lines down the machines. Why can't someone take time even 2 times a week to wipe machines down like other gyms do.
3. I wish they would put dry paper towels all over the gym, the ones similar to those in the bathrooms. They only have the antibacterial white ones. Sometimes those don't get filled up on time either.
I wonder if they treat all their locations like they treat this particular location.

Great gym overall and helpful front desk receptionist! I go after 8:30 when the rush has died down and the gym is mostly empty. Overall the gym is in great shape and very clean. I’ve noticed the bathrooms are well kept. Had a great workout with friendly people around me. Overall the atmosphere is pretty chill and no one seems to bother you during your workout.

The pool is nice, it’s clean, water is chlorinated to a good level, not too much chlorine like in other spots…..

Basketball court is nice, flooring is cracked and has soft spots all over but overall the main floor where you play is great. No unnecessary mess or spills all over the place.

Overall the gym is kept to a great standard, a few things are a little dated but overall the gym is great and at the end of the day you’re able to have an awesome workout.

On two separate occasions, I have walked into this club to try to cancel my membership.

The first time was on a weekend, and I was told to come back Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm, since they cannot process my request. Most other gyms have no problem doing this for you, but sure, I'd love to come in during normal working hours and waste more time.

The second time was around noon on a Monday. I ask the front desk about cancelling my membership, and I am told that the person that does that is not there. Okay??? The front desk people tell me they will talk to the person to cancel my membership. Later, I get an email stating my membership has been "frozen" and not cancelled. This means I will still get charged a nominal fee, and this freeze would only apply for one month.

My request to cancel was not abided by, despite coming in when asked to. I will need to waste time and gas coming in for a third time, for something that realistically takes a minute to be processed.

Love the gym it's nice clean but when I called the gym to let them know my payment was going to be late they made me feel so small. I suffer from depression how do you think I feel when they told me that if I want to work out there I had to pay making. E feel like I could not afford to go there when I told him I was going to pay on my payday because I like to swim when he retired make sure you pay before you go swimming. Wow , I read many of the reviews and sadly it appears that the owners don’t care to lead by example as to what makes a great business.
From lack of cleanliness, areas or parts of what the customers are paying for can’t be used for more then a month , to lack of security inside or outside to employees not customer oriented since that’s why they are in a service industry.
Will the staff or managers address the many complaints right here by reaching out to everyone that’s complaining about many of the same discrepancies, and not state to PM , so that they may not disclose what was said and what actions were taken to resolve the issues .
I’m shopping for a gym to use , so that’s why I’m commenting on what I’ve read .

The place Is cool, looks Fancy, they have pool, jacuzzi and sauna, some workers are polite but personal training it's not worth It at all! They're scammers telling you awesome things about the service but when you get into It you see the reality, they just see us like numbers all they care Is money, i sent them my complain about some issues and they never responded, oh! But they were very worried and more than punctual to ask for the payments

They get 4 out of 5 because they don’t put signs on machines that don’t work , but the manager helped me a lot and refunded me when I really needed him to , hassle free with a customer service agent, Also, I had a surgery, they have an ELEVATOR ,helped me for my ❤️‍🩹 , I like it here , if you’re looking for perfection no gym in this area will be , this is Close enough for me 😀

I’ve been going to this gym and i was enjoying it until my truck got broken into within the hour of me going inside. This was my go to gym, but now I don’t feel safe. I don’t recommend it. I know it’s not the gyms fault but there’s actions they could have implicated to prevent it and help with the other countless break ins.

This location is my favorite in SA. It’s never busy whenever I’ve gone like some of the others Namely potranco and Babcock. I’ve always see a ton of reviews for staff at gyms but if you’re going to just go put in work what’s the difference if they don’t welcome you in or say bye? Layout is great and more equipment for strength training than most so you almost never have to wait for anything. Yes people don’t re-rack but doesn’t really affect me much. Great LA Fitness location.

I have been a member since 2016 but lately they are having poor maintenance in the whirlpool spa!! Right now it’s out of service like 2 months!! It is necessary to mention the shower heads which have never worked 100%!!! The Swimming Pool water 💦 never looked clean!! they have black spots on the plaster at the bottom I think they never brush it properly maybe they don't check the PH of the water either… honestly every month I make my payment on time but in this place specifically they take too long to repair anything I have moved to this location for two years and since then the service has never worked bathroom for people with disabilities ♿️🚻 I have never seen it working in two years.. I don’t know if this companies have a supervisor who comes to inspect the facilities of this address specifically?? Will be Great 👍…

Management and staff are incompetent.
Then when you complain about the incompetence to the new manager your referred to the corporate answering service that swiftly hangs up on.

Some of the equipment is damaged or in need of repairs. The space is excellent but if you dont enforce mask policy what difference does it make.

And its the same people every day and no one cares. If it involves them getting fees they are all over it. Anything else your on your own..

Access to disinfectant spray bottles are very lacking on some days even when it's slow. Had to wait for someone leaving to drop off a spray bottle so I can have one to clean the equipment that I use. Paper towel dispensers need to get refilled more frequently. I tried looking on the website for a place to post comment/concern but I could not find so I did it here.

The equipment at LA Fitness is adequate for resistance training. The only issues I have with their equipment is the lack of rubber weights or areas to do any type of dead lift or power clings but it is a normie gym so you should be expected.

The biggest issue with this LA fitness (Northwest loop 410) is how disgusting it is and how rarely it is cleaned. I've been going here 2-5 times a week since april 2021 (made this december 2021) and I don't think the free weights area has been mopped yet. Visual dust mounds under the benches and hair all over the floor.

P.S. a lot of people that use this gym don't sanitize anything after use or put their equipment back when they're done using it.
