Decent facility, indifferent staff, selfish members.

Facility: things are occasionally broken and take forever to fix, but mostly never was more than a mild inconvenience. Things like soap and wipes are frequently out of stock.

Staff: the facility is understaffed in cleaning personnel, and staff almost never corrects bad behavior. No enforcement of re-racking weights, throwing away trash or wiping down machines. They don’t even tell you those things are required when you sign up, so many members don’t do it.

Members: a small percentage of members are extremely inconsiderate. They don’t clean up after themselves nor do they respect the facility. This is not good incentive to keep my membership.

It was easy enough to cancel my membership and my monthly training fee, but I know I will have an uphill battle to fight regarding my unused training sessions. That is MY money from my hard work sitting there and the staff only suggested "we will find a way to work this out." I don't want to "find a way" or find another trainer across town; I just want a refund. I paid all of these fees for nothing; I was supposed to have a reliable trainer since June and I didn't. I wasted money and time waiting for things to be straightened out and LA didn't contact anyone to advise our trainer actually left. I had to visit the gym a few times just to ask what the heck was going on.

Now, this gym has only one trainer (down from three this year) and, unfortunately, I have seen him train people and it is not my jam. I would have stayed if the equipment and facilities were better, but in the last year the shake bar closed, the bathrooms were iffy, the cardio machines were broken or making noises, and the weight machines are rusted and falling apart. Not only has this location been neglected and is constantly changing staff, the person who is over this area of LA Fitness gyms doesn't know how to take care of their employees (my trainer could not afford medical care and had to allow his broken foot to heal incorrectly, which led to other bad situations and, ultimately, his departure). Since I have been training myself the last several months, I hope I get those sessions paid back to me!

We want to give a shout out to Justin and his team. His staff is trained to always make us feel welcomed and very helpful. We recently had issues with updating our LA app on our Android phones and Axle helped us to get it working. Andres is always there early on the weekends to let us in. Orlando too does a great job during the early morning weekday shift. We appreciate all the staffs hard work. Thank you.

Unprofessional and invasive front desk experience
I recently rejoined LA Fitness now that I have more flexibility in my schedule. I’ve been going often and most of the staff are great — but unfortunately, one front desk employee named Isla has made my experience incredibly uncomfortable.
She has been repeatedly rude and dismissive, especially about the photo requirement. Today, she took a photo of me without my knowledge mid-conversation, while I was wearing sunglasses. She held the camera low, near her waist, and I only realized it had been uploaded to my profile after checking the app.
When I told her this made me extremely uncomfortable, especially as someone dealing with self-image issues and trying to build confidence , she coldly replied, “It’s not that serious.” No apology, no understanding. When I asked about alternatives, she suddenly took a photo of my ID, which could have been done from the start. It felt like it was more about asserting power than following policy.
To make things worse, when I asked for her full name to report the situation, she refused and said she “doesn’t have to” provide it , despite allegedly being the operations manager.
LA Fitness is supposed to be a place where people go to improve their physical and mental health. The front desk is the first impression, and that position should be filled by someone who’s at least capable of basic empathy. Isla’s behavior was the opposite — unprofessional, dismissive, and invasive.
I hope this is taken seriously by management. No one should feel humiliated or disregarded just for trying to better themselves.

Four out of the six step mills are broken and waiting for repairs which has gone on forever. It seems the ownership doesn't really care about the broken machines. The staff is friendly. You have to go to Bandera Road or Huebner locations for a better experience. Maybe if they cared more about this location more people would come

I've been taking my client to LA Fitness at Blanco and 1604 for a number of months now. After many years of going to Fitness Facilities, I can firmly acknowledge the superiority of this location. I was a retail executive for over 35 years and have seen the effect of great management and superior staff. This location has that down pat. Cleanliness: Far above any other similar facility in the vicinity. Sure there are occasionally a few misses, but no facility can police the dozens and dozens of clients that are present at any time of the day. Professionalism and Friendly environment? 110%. They go the extra mile. Dawn is one of the best customer service managers I have ever seen or had the pleasure of interacting with. This team and facility actually like their work and their clients. It shows in the appearance, cleanliness and professionalism they show to every single person who walks in the door. I wish that all of my experiences in the past were this great. I have used many LA Fitness facilities in San Antonio over the past three years. Today, 4 June 2025, I worked out at this facility at NW Loop 410. It was a unsatisfying experience for many reasons: 1) The facility had no running water - no drink fountain, no sink, no toilet, no shower. Proper signage alerted users to the water system being broken. When I spoke with the desk representative at approximately 6:5pm, he said people can bring their own water (okay), people can use the restroom at the nearby QuikTrip (not okay), and that the water should be back in operation in 2-3 days (not okay). When I asked if there was a threshold at which hygiene safety became a concern with no toilet and sink operation, he said there was no concern since QuikTrip was nearby. Not okay. When I asked if there was a consideration to closing the facility temporarily, management said that was not a safety or hygiene concern. 2) many of the aerobic equipment upstairs were inoperative (treadmill and stairstep machines), 3) it appears the facility places a significant investment in the exclusive workout area (understandable given the fee for this privilege) but this comes at the expense of equipment available to regular clients.

I love that I can go to any LA fitness and work out, I don't love how drastically different the state of the workout equipment is between them, the Blaco,410 location Is my home gym however the equipment is much older and worn down than the evers,410 location. It's is unfair that the standards are not the same across the board. Also there is not enough wipe stations around the gym and almost every time I go, thinks few stations are empty. Bring back the spray bottles and allow members to check out wiping cloths for the safety of all the members

Massively reduced operating hours and now they close at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, which is absurd. To make matters worse, they start shutting things down an hour prior and flip off all the lights several minutes before closing since the employees have better things to do and want to be able to leave at 4:59. We're paying for this gym. The staff isn't letting us use it as a favor. Maybe act like it.

Anyways, since they're open 20% less than they were when I signed up, do I get 20% off my monthly dues? Oh wait, dues just went *up*. Awful.

This gym is in serious need of an overhaul. Employees are frequently late, and it’s now 30 minutes past opening with no one here. People have come and left frustrated. Why are we still paying dues and fees when the gym consistently fails to uphold its end of the contract by not having staff on duty? Additionally, the bathrooms are always dirty— toilets, showers, sinks, and lockers are neglected every single morning. Machines are always dusty and dirty as well. As a member of four years, this particular gym has become incredibly frustrating. Even the operating hours have been adjusted multiple times due to the lack of staffing. It’s disappointing. With the nature of my work and travel demand- I visit your facilities all across the USA and a few in Canada. My overall take is that this is a gym chain going down hill with minimal investment. Lack of pride in how the facilities are taken care of, most of the gyms smell funny, broken equipment, aloof staff, peeling paint, atrocious bathrooms. Just a vibe that these places are falling apart.

I was taken back at this specific club- staff was still aloof. But the overall facility was pristine- theres a bald white dude running around cleaning, you can tell he cares about what he's doing. I noticed him busting his ass during my 2 visits in town and figured he was worth the shout out. He keeps a clean club and maintains my original expectation of a LAF. Thanks bald white dude.

The pool temp is frequently at an excessive 90+ degrees or the water/floor is dirty. I only belong to this gym for swimming laps and it's more than an inconvenience, I literally can't swim laps when it's that hot. I saw someone so overheated after water aerobics, she looked like she was going to pass out. I'm tired of complaining. The response from the front desk staff this morning was "you can get out" and "have a nice day". Terrible customer service.

Very disappointed in this establishment. I purchased a contract with a trainer. They kept drafting over $2,000 when contract was over. I have called the gym and corporate with no resolution. After canceling my membership they said I had paid 80 sessions and needed to complete within one month. They have not been helpful or care even though they themselves said they have several complaints. Would not recommend…..

I live a few blocks from this LA fitness. I go there because of the hot tub whirlpool. The last several months the hot tub is either not working or if it is the output pressure is very very low. I remember it being the best, not anymore. When you express your concern with the young girl at the desk, it appears she is bothered by your concern reference the hot tub. Very disappointed !!

I don’t want to cancel my membership but last week my son had a terrible experience in the kids korner when the child care provider did not have the kids bathroom open and available for him, she paid no mind to the crying children or even tried to interact with them and when my son soiled his pants and they took 10 minutes to find the key to unlock the door she had a horrible attitude through out and now he doesn’t want to come back. This is a nice looking gym, but there is a lot of equipment that does not work properly (broken in one way or another; tv, music connection, actual machine), and they don't indicate it on the equipment either...makes them not look so bad when touring new potential clients.
Went to the Blanco location and even called in advance, as the jacuzzi has been down quite a while now. They claim it is "awaiting the part", some say, "need to get quotes" and still others say, waiting for one thing or another. Went to the Bandera Rd. location and she is just waiting for the part, (spoken like a manager).
Hopefully, it will be back in order and they will get the equipment issues addressed soon.

This is one of the biggest LA Fitness locations I've ever visited. Very clean, a lot of machines and I LOVE the fact that the pool is indoors. This is a sad situation of an LA Fitness. From broken equipment, little room and outdated equipment, this place is NOT worth the membership. I was a member for a week and that’s all it took for me to decide to go elsewhere.

This organization gets plenty of money from its patrons and it fails on its part to provide adequate space and equipment. It is a location that I assure you do not want to visit.

Not a fan of 8:30am classes. It's the only time I have to work out and would like to be away from the crowd, as I'm stretching in weird positions. I'm aware that u guys have 2 mats and a separate smaller workout section that im told is for trainers and their clients, unless its available which is rare. Can I be in the mirror room away from the class and do my own thing?
