Employees are rude. Enjoying the sauna at 2:30pm, the janitor comes in, looks at me twice and shuts it off 5 minutes into my session for cleaning. I drive 45 minutes to this location just for the sauna.

Wouldn't it make more sense to clean the sauna before the place opens and while the sauna is still cool instead of inconveniencing paying customers in the middle of the afternoon? Crazy thought, I know.

Spoke to a lady manager who made every excuse she could find for the janitor instead of saying I'll fix this problem and make sure it doesn't happen again. Managers here don't care and neither do the employees.

Find a better place to work out if you can.

Still going to this location and its nice to be greeted every morning by the people behind the front desk. This location is well maintained and cleaned routinely. The staff is professional, and the machines are current. I think the only thing that I noticed that I dislike is that no everyone is courteous about using the machines efficiently. Example, some people will sit on weight machines and do a set, then look at their phone for 10 minutes before they do another set, then they look at a phone for 10 minutes again, and finally may or may not clean the machine when they are finished. So, you may have to have a little patience.

Great place to get a morning or evening workout in.

This location has treadmills, swimming, basketball, handball, free weights, spin class, etc.

It’s incredibly hot in this gym where it almost feels like I could do more without being heat exhausted at another gym. I also hate the contract and charges placed for annual enrollment and initiation - why is this even necessary? I like the yoga, cycle, and Zumba classes but there are no fans in the classroom and overall do not recommend this gym.

On 08/06/2025, me and a buddy of mine (who also has a membership) came to play basketball as we usually do on Wednesday nights. After we finished we noticed it was closing time so we packed up to leave. As we were walking out to leave the facility (aprox. 11:03pm), the front desk employee (Keith) began to yell at us in a very disrespectful and derogatory manner. Keith continued this yelling and insults as we continued to walk to the front exit of the building, even though my buddy and I were staying quiet. Now once we gotten to the front desk, my buddy started to mouth off as well since Keith was continuing in his barrage of attacks, which I will not condone. However, this outburst of insults was completely uncalled for since 1. it was completely unprofessional and shows lack of respect. 2. nobody even told us that it was closing time and we needed to pack up. and 3. we weren't even the only ones still in the gym, since there was a older gentleman walking out as well just a few steps ahead of us. Now I'm not sure why Keith decided to go after just my buddy and I, but regardless should've never happened. The next morning on 08/07/2025 I attempted to contact the manager, and after repeated attempts to talk to someone in charge, I finally got to speak with Brent about 7 hrs after I originally asked to speak with someone. Although Brent did allow me to speak and explain the situation, he showed little to no concern in actually resolving the problem. All I asked for was an apology from Keith, but Brent didn't care of how his employee acted nor even if me and my friend cancelled our memberships. The bottom line is, in my opinion they have shown a complete lack of customer service and are a disgrace when it comes to human resources. I will not only cancel my membership and file a official complaint of both Keith and Brent with their corporate office, but will also extremely discourage anyone I hear talking about possibly joining this gym franchise.

Just had a great experience at LA Fitness North Loop 1604 Damian was super helpful and welcoming .he gave me a solid Diet plan and some really useful advice when it came to my workout. He took the time to understand my goals and made sure I was set up for success. I have been going to this gym and the other one on 1604 for over a year now. This particular gym has a really clean pool and is a newer facility. It doesn't get too crowded. The trainer, Damien, has been very helpful with addressing some of my foot injuries, giving specific stretches to strengthen my foot. He also has inspired me to move more towards whole foods and increase my protein.

I love the staff at this location specifically!!! I am here in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon so I spend a lot of time at this gym. Dawn at the front desk is an ANGEL and the rest of the team from the trainers to the rest of the front desk (Easton, Brandon, Ryan, Angela, Harold.. to name a few!) are all so kind, funny & welcoming which is so important in a gym! Place is kept really clean and members are also really respectful / friendly. I won't be going anywhere else lol.

LA Fitness is clean and keeps their pool water warm. I am impressed with their instructors; especially Kevin M. and Norma N.
Norma N. has a very cheerful attitude and presents a wide variety of body movements.
Kevin M. offers a mind/body connection which is so important for muscles. He has several of them; such as making your arms and/or feet do something different at the same time. It's challenging but most of all FUN!!

Dawn at the front desk is a joy and Easton is a very receptive manager.

LA Fitness's machines are organized well so that it's easy to get your workout in in a timely fashion. I'm SOLD!!

This place sucks so bad don’t waste your money or time. I’d do 0 stars if possible.
It’s unclean, locker rooms and bathrooms are terrible especially, and the staff is not only lazy but don’t care about your problems. They’re only nice when they sign you up and can get their commission.
It takes forever to fix any of the equipment or for staff to replace simple stuff like hand sanitizer or wipe down towels for the machines.
It was so bad it got to the point where I already canceled my membership a week ago, but they make you pay your first and last month in advance when you sign up. So even after you cancel, you already paid for the gym for a whole “last” month so you’re stuck there unless you want to double pay for two gym memberships.
Today, a week after I already canceled and want to leave the gym, the GM of the place was playing basketball with 2 of his workers, all in uniform, while I was playing on the other side. They knocked over my water bottle, didn’t pick it up, and proceeded to let it DRENCH my entire backpack full with my keys, AirPods, shoes, clothes, etc. All COMPLETELY drenched. When I asked if they did it, they denied it, but there was literally no one else in the gym. Then they got mad when I said they’re the only ones who could’ve done it since they’re the only other ones here. One of the salesman then proceeded to say “yeah bro I did it is that what you wanna hear.” The same salesman who smiled and played nice with me and my wife when he signed us up.
All in front of the GM.
Then when I went to the front desk to ask for a refund so I never have to come back and deal with this trash gym, they won’t refund me.
It’s Crazy.

Last Monday, July 29, I was at this location where the receptionist informed me that I would not be able to use the gym because my membership had been canceled. When I told her that I had already called Active and Fit and was informed that she would have to re-register me in the system, she still said that I would have to come back another day at an earlier time. She also told me that she was just doing her job ( zero customer service) but ended up letting me have access to the gym. Yesterday I was at the Bulverde location at the same time and the receptionist was extremely professional. In addition to clarifying all my questions, she solved my problem. Super disappointed with the customer service at this location.

"Adequate" sums it up. No towels or mats provided and their "state of the art" equipment has slots available for your....ipod. You have to hammer the soap dispenser in the shower to get enough to clean up, but it does do the job adequately. The paper towels in the locker room have the same consistency to tissue paper. If there was a 0.25ply, they found it.

Staff is nice and there is a good variety of equipment so you'll get a solid workout. If you want a "meat and potatoes" gym then you found it.

Zero stars if possible. Dawn (a manger there) made my 6-year old daughter cry and treats her employees like garbage. I would choose ANY other gym over this one.
We got a trial pass to try this gym out and try out the pool, and on our first time back my wife was told that my daughter wasn’t allowed in the pool since she is under 13 (even with adult supervision). Which while I think is a ridiculous rule, I do respect a business’ decision and the risk they will assume. HOWEVER, my wife had purchased this trial pass under the assumption we could swim there with my daughter (they did the day we purchased the pass), and Dawn decided to basically berate my wife in front of my daughter and call over the employee who had sold us the trial pass and berate him.
You shouldn’t treat your customers that way, and definitely not your employees.
So I come home and instead of hearing how excited my 6 year old daughter was to get back in the pool, I just get to hear how this “Karen” decided to prove her point and make my little girl cry. Good job Dawn - you were right. But you will NEVER get our business and I hope others will leave you to go elsewhere!

Overall I give this LA fitness a 3.6 closer to 4. It has a ton of amenities compared to other LA fitness with a racquetball area, basketball court an indoor pool, and an aerobics/dance area. While these are great they can improve by updating their drink stations to have the ones with bottle fillers and turning on their fans none of which were on in an absolutely packed gym at 6pm. Juice bar is open yet but they have an area and are at the time of this review looking for a partner.

Cancelled membership in march 2023, only to realize both myself and my wife had been getting charged every month since. When attempting to fix the issue I was told because I did not have written proof of my cancellation they would not refund me the nearly $1,000 in false charges. The cancellation email/proof should be the responsibility of LA fitness not the customer, there’s nothing I can do to ensure the club processes the cancellation properly. Because of the incompetence of the staff at the time, I was charged $1,000 and told it was my fault.

I discourage anyone from using LA fitness and especially this location.

A double decker with lots of cardio machines on the second story. Machines and free weights on the first floor with lots of machine options most of which are duplicated so you hardly ever have to wait. Olympic size pool with aquatic exercise classes. Basketball and racquetball courts and separate spinning room. Machines are well maintained and the place is vertically clean. Only drawback, no 24 hour access and don’t open until 8 on weekends.

This is overall a great facility with clean and good quality equipment, spacious weight lifting area, and
friendly/courteous staff attentive to detail. I have four stars instead of 5 because as a physical therapist I think it would be great to have a section of the facility dedicated to advanced rehab maintenance where one can use

The staff is pretty good and always will g to help. a large portion of machines are either outdated, not working or have some type of issue. There was a billing issue and the manager was prompt and helps us a lot! The yoga instructor on Saturday mornings was either late or had a bad vibe/attitude. And seriously… no water bottle fill stations. Just drinking fountains that people put their mouths on to slurp. Just not a good fit our us. BUT… for what you get facilities wise, $40 per month per person was a good price!

I was visiting my family in San Antonio, Texas and being a fitness enthusiast wanted to use gym facilities. Called up LA fitness in Bulverde and they immediately welcome me and even made me a 3 days free gym pass valid for a bit longer. As someone coming from the Planet Fitness on Evans and 281, this gym deserves five stars. I appreciate the space, the cleanliness, and I definitely missed the sauna! I had frozen my account during covid and then cancelled it and started attending PF to save myself a couple of bucks (big mistake). They sent me an email saying I could come back to LA Fitness with no initiation fee and it was definitely the best decision ever! I missed this gym so much.

Member for multiple years. Recently add my loved one to the account and was charged outside what I understood the total amount to be at the time of sign up. When I asked to cancel, I had to go there in person, leaving work to do so, and when I asked about the multiple charges on my account, they could not account for all charges and could not identify why I was charged. If I could give it a zero I most definitely would! I called today wanting to inquire about a day pass to check out the facility since I’ve just moved here from out of state, and to my surprise the gentleman said they do not do those anymore. According to him, corporate had just changed the policy since people have been taking advantage of those and the only way is to sign up for a membership. Although he did say he would let me tour the gym even though it shouldn’t be allowed but that he would only allow it for today. With as sketch as this whole conversation sounded, I said, “okay, no thank you”. He immediately laughed, as I’m mid sentence saying why is he laughing he hangs up! SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I called back and of course never got through until finally a manager answered, and I explained the situation. Of course she said she would speak to the gentleman and his manager. She even mentioned I could sign up online for a free 3 day pass and she apologizes that he couldn’t have simply just said that. Regardless if this is how they treat customers I would never want to give my money to such facility! No wonder their reviews are low, I was trying to give them a shot but now I know to stick to reviews!

The pool has been dirty all week. There is mold or black stuff around the pool's edge and the entrance to the pool is dirty. Reported it to the front desk and the guy to clean came in while there was water aerobics. So, he couldn't clean the pool, how much sense does that make. Why he would come in during the aerobics class to clean the pool is beyond me. This class has been at the same time slot for over a year. Two of the Women's toilets are broken and the ring in the toilet bowls are black and need to be clean. Water pressure in some of the showers are low. Not the best LA Fitness. Beware!!

I’ve worked out at all the La fitness’s in San Antonio and most Gold Gym’s as well, but this is the only gym I can’t take a cold shower at. Imagine running 10 miles, a workout, then sauna session for 20-30 mins and you would love to take a cold shower to cool down. It’s hard to get lukewarm water( always hot) let alone cold water here and I actually feel hotter than before my shower. My last 3 visits here I haven’t been able to take a decent shower. Plus I’m usually headed to work afterwards so I might have to find another gym.

Most of the staff are rude, you come in and say hi, how are you, and they just give you a dirty look, when I leave and say thank you, have a nice day, as I always do, they just ignore me. The club is not clean, have not seen one person cleaning. The members don't wipe down equipment when done, most sit on machines on there phones for five minutes in between sets, or it's social hour. This place is cool, just wished they opened on the time they have on their schedule. It's cold out and there's a sign that says they open at 8am. It's 8:20 and still no one has opened. There's lost of people just waiting and nothing.

Love the energy and people that work there. The workers are younger kids but they carry themselves very professional and are helpful at all times. Always very clean restrooms gym area always up to standards.

Lots of equipment, not too packed around non-busy hours, big & spacious, clean. Front desk staff is usually friendly, signing agent was super friendly too. It’s a great every day gym :)

Great gym. Its bathrooms are clean, sanitation is offered, and has a bunch of cardio and weight machines. It also offers classes of varying exercises. My only gripe with this place is that it only has 3 squat racks and 3 benching stations. I always have to wait for a spot to open once I get there so hopefully we might see an addition to those. The staff is pretty courteous too.

Not too crowded, good machines, frequent classes available. Zero complaints for all my daily gym needs. The price is great but dont expect any of the high end equinox/lifetime amenities.

Nice and inviting. John was very friendly and not pushy at all at purchasing a membership. I have gone back and plan on joining soon.
A big plus : masks are not required. It is the option of the client. And the facility was nicely clean

I love that this gym is multi-level and isn't always packed to capacity. There is plenty of cardio equipment and nice weight area. Trainers here are nice and so are all the staff I have encountered.

They have the cleaners at the front desk and not located on the floor like pretty much every gym I've ever went to. This is annoying and most people won't even grab one and leave their used equipment uncleaned after use.

The machines are well maintained and the floors are clean and not dirty looking. I like it other than how inconvenient they make the cleaning products assemble

Good place to work out, for being a newer gym the equipment is run down and they never fix there broken machines and leave there machines that have cracked pads and never fix them.

I was taking my grandson to swim lessons once a week. The facility is clean and well maintained. Pandemic procedures are in place. However, my daughter took my grandson a few weeks ago, and noticed that the clients were being careless about mask-wearing. She took him out of the swim class and notified the management for her reason. Not sure when they will go back.

I've been a member for over a year, and I have loved everything about this particular location. But have not been back since March due to COVID.
Happily paid my bill still each month even when I wasn't going because I was aware times have been hard for gyms. Had my card expire and was called today about it. I asked to just go ahead and cancel for the time being. I was told I could if I pay for another month and that if I don't this would be handed over to collections. No thanks. You've lost a customer who likely would have returned when things get back to normal all over trying to get another 30 dollars out of me.
