It is a genuinely good gym. Overpriced in my opinion, but it's always clean, the equipment is well maintained and the staff are friendly.

Closes the basketball court for “parties” without an update in the official LifeTime app. Had no idea the gym operated as a Chuck E. cheese, while the other LifeTime locations are open for serious athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
This location is ran as a daycare and community center for parents who cannot afford both a gym membership and daycare/summer camp ?

This review is specifically for my trainer- who is spectacular! Sanora is truly phenomenal. He pays attention to form like no other trainer I have encountered. He is extremely patient, doesn’t stare at his phone (focuses on you!), efficient with the challenging workouts, and pushes you to accomplish whatever goal you have. He’s really beyond a great fitness professional- he is also a stand-up kind of person. He encourages you to reach your goals, sets achievable mile markers, and walks you through hitting them. I’m hoping my review doesn’t cause me not to have any more time slots with him- but I couldn’t help myself from sharing how great he is.

I’ve been coming here for over a year now and the experience has only improved as time has gone on. The front desk staff are incredibly helpful, with Grace in particular being extraordinarily courteous and kind. She assisted me today with my card which I’ve had issues with for some time now. Thank you!

Cleanest and most well staffed gym I’ve ever been to! I’m a regular. Love the trail out back and equipment but it is the best Lifetime in town because of it’s staff. They genuinely care and have changed my life. Shout out to Luc, Jane, Sergio, Tracy, Karen, Austin, Elaine, Kimberly and so many more. Equipment is kept in working order, people stack their weights when they are done, don’t invade my set to ask if I’m done. It’s pretty wonderful. Thanks Lifetime :-)

Sergio makes the best protein shakes! I love my weekend classes with Suzanne and cycle classes with Ryon. The trainers and friends I’ve made at this gym keep me a long-time member.
My one suggestion for improvement is to better maintain the equipment and facilities. The bikes often need repairs and we’ve had multiple issues with the A/C this year. Many of the free weights need replacement. Staff used to wipe down all equipment after each class and keep the locker rooms spotless.

Amazing Yoga Class with Amanda at Lifetime South Austin! I took Amanda’s class yesterday and it was hands-down one of the best yoga sessions I’ve had. Her energy is warm and grounding, and she guides the class with such clear, intentional cues that make it easy to stay present and push yourself just the right amount. I left feeling centered, strong, and genuinely grateful. Highly recommend taking Amanda’s class if you get the chance!

I've been a Lifetime Fitness member for over 20 years, starting my membership in Houston back in 2004. For the past eight years, I've been in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but unfortunately, my current home club here is my least favorite of any Lifetime location I’ve visited. The focus seems to be almost entirely on pickleball, which I do not play. It no longer offers the well-rounded experience I’ve come to expect. Good classes have diminished because they do not pay the instructors well.
We currently pay about $280 per month for a family membership. At this point, it only covers two adults and one teen, as our older kids have aged out and now go to other gyms due to the high cost.
The only reason we’ve maintained the membership is because our son uses the gym regularly. Personally, I don’t get much value out of it anymore.
I’m in town attending a conference and decided to use a nearby Lifetime for a quick 30-minute cardio session during a lunch break. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff was unwelcoming, and one employee loudly informed me that I didn’t have access to that location because it was a higher "tier" than what my membership covers. Frankly, this kind of treatment is unacceptable.
I travel frequently for work and find it frustrating that my membership doesn’t allow access to all locations, especially when I'm not using multiple clubs regularly. Asking members to pay even more just to occasionally visit another location while traveling makes no sense.
To make matters worse, this particular club is outdated, small, and has a fraction of the equipment available at other locations. If I lived in this area, there’s absolutely no way I would keep my membership.

Hi, I hate giving 1*s and will update if something changes.
I pay too much to get ready in a locker room that is 80 degrees. My $20/mo membership at a previous gym afforded me pristine, cool air. I’m told the A/C is temporarily having issues. Well, this has been an ongoing issue for months that many people have reported.

My yoga practice with Amanda W. was truly exceptional. The class happened to align with the lunar eclipse and full moon in Pisces, and Amanda created an atmosphere that felt perfectly in tune with that energy. From her calming voice and thoughtful music selection to the intention cards she placed, every detail made the practice deeply grounding and inspiring. I felt supported to give my fullest expression on the mat. Amanda is a gifted instructor, and I’m grateful for the experience she created.

This is beyond unacceptable. Lifetime calls itself a premium gym, yet they can’t even provide something as basic as working AC? We’re paying hundreds of dollars every month and for what—suffocating in a hot box? This isn’t a one-time issue either. Ever since I started here, the AC has been a constant problem. We live in TEXAS, in the South, where heat is extreme, and they still refuse to use the thousands of dollars they rake in from members to fix it. It’s disgraceful, careless, and downright disrespectful to every single person who pays to be here.

I wish I could give lower than a 1-star. I went as a guest today to this lifetime with my girlfriend to paddleboard. We had a great time, and I really considered if I should get myself a membership to enjoy the facilities offered, such as the pool and lake, since I have my own gym at home. Cut to 45 minutes into paddleboarding, and a staff member is yelling for us to come back to where we launched.
We paddle over to see what's happening. She tells us we are way over an hour and need to get out. We were confused since we had started a workout on our Apple Watches and at this point were at 50 minutes. We show this to her and say we weren't told about a time limit, but we haven't even been out for an hour. Cut to Shirly, a lifetime employee who tells us we're lying, and we have been on the water for over an hour since her shift started at 2. It was 2:47 when I looked at my watch.
Now, a customer who is a grown man, and I assume is a friend or family member of Shirly. He walks up to my 5-foot girlfriend and gets in her face and proceeds to call her a liar, and he hates liars and yelling profanity. I stepped between them, and things were getting heated. Shirly tells him something in a foreign language, which I assume was to back off, since he was trying to intimidate a woman who was simply asking why she was being kicked off the lake when she pays for a membership, and it hasn't even been an hour, seeing that is the time limit we're now being told.
Completely unprofessional and unreal experience, I went from talking about signing up for my own membership on the lake to never wanting to go back. We talked to the staff on our way out, and they said they'll "talk" with Shirly about it. 0/5 stars, unprofessional and overly aggressive staff who lie so they can I guess let their family and friends paddleboard over paying members. Plenty of other gyms with professional staff who aren't lying and aggressive with members. Unreal experience. The picture is of the staff member and the random customer who was being aggressive to my girlfriend.

This gym definitely has some high points with a good location and the great fitness classes/coaches it offers. However, after visiting other Lifetime locations, this gym definitely doesn’t fit the usual standard for lifetime. I’ve was a member for a year in 2023 and the AC was broken for most of the year. I recently came back to this gym a few months ago. It is crazy that the AC is still broken. It is extremely hot upstairs. It does not seem fair that the membership price has increased with this issue being unresolved. Other lifetimes in Austin don’t seem to have issues with temperature regulation.

The gym itself was great. Smaller in size but still a good amount of space. Gym members were always respectful and polite.
My two complaints were the cardio area and lack of AC, especially during summer months. Treadmills in cardio area all faced the outside of the building while TVs were on inside of building. I really enjoy the distraction of a show while running or doing cardio. The treadmills had the capability to have cable TV on their screens, however LifeTime must have never set this up.
Overall, the gym was decent. But not for the price they are charging.

I've been experiencing ongoing issues with the air conditioning at this gym for over a year now, and it seems the problem remains unresolved. Despite submitting formal complaints, management repeatedly assures me that it's being addressed (please see the response). We’ve endured two summers where the gym has been nearly unmanageable due to the heat. Even now, in December, the temperature upstairs is still in the high 70s to low 80s, despite the use of fans. As you can see, the air conditioning is currently off upstairs. It's incredibly disappointing, especially considering the high membership fees. While Lifetime Fitness is a fantastic gym overall, I recommend choosing the locations to the north or south instead of the Arboretum location. It simply doesn’t meet expectations.

The one star is for the friendly and warm staff at the Arboretum front desk and coffee bar AND the clean bathrooms. I would say if you like to be in these affluent settings I would consider this a vanity gym. In six months I met ONE serious lifter. There is no inspiration, no six hundred pound dead lifters, no camraderie to compete or just learn about lifting. I was also censored for needing to carry my equipment in my bag. I carry lifting shoes, my own towels, chalk, clamps, snacks, wraps, straps, my log, belt, water bottle which is part of what I need with me. I was scolded in front of members and told it wasnt allowed. Sorry, bub, but I lift, not swing 5# DBs. This gym is also ageist. In 12 yrs never have I been allowed in a gym only during certain hrs because of my age. Imagine if my regular gym did this? For serious gym folks looking for a serious lifting gym, this wont work. For the gym fees and trainer fees there are much better gyms and trainers here in Austin.

I have been a member for over a year now. Generally it is a good gym, but the AC in the mezzanine level has been broken the entire time I have been a member and it seems like there isn't a plan to fix it. The mezzanine feels like about 78-80 degrees on a hot day. I am surprised they only place 3 fans out on the mezzanine. I think they can afford at least 3-5 more fans (total 6-8) to cover all areas of that floor.
I tried finding a corporate number to help escalate the issue, but they gave me the number of the GM Karen. When I called I got an automated "enter your PIN number".
I'm rating 4 stars since for a premium gym. I would have expected there would be a plan of action to fix it within the year+ of my membership give the $180 cost per month.
That being said, I plan on staying for now due to the kind hourly staff, built in locks on the lockers, towel service, water filters & flavored waters, and the location.

It's insanely hot upstairs and sometimes downstairs. Their AC has been broken for over a year and they're always waiting on the vendor to come fix it. We never had issues like this when it was Pure. A nice gym overall but it’s much smaller and has fewer amenities than other Lifetime locations. Also, the AC “breaks” multiple times a year and it gets very hot inside, especially on the second floor. Every time I’ve asked about it, they say it’s being worked on and will be fixed soon but it keeps breaking. Doesn’t seem worth the hefty price tag and multiple fee increases if the AC doesn’t even work.

Update: It's now nearly August and the AC is still broken. I've given up on this lifetime location completely.
It's s early May and it's already quite hot upstairs. Once again the AC is either underpowered or not working at all. How a gym operates like this in Texas I don't know, but it's happened probably about a dozen times this year. The water fountain filters are also not regularly changed and the roof usually leaks when it rains. The facility is alright but it's certainly the smallest of the lifetimes in Austin and probably the worst in terms of maintenance. Avoid this gym, it's not worth the money.

I’ve been a member of Lifetime Fitness for quite some time, and I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of urgency in fixing the air conditioning on the upper floor. It’s been broken for what seems like a year now.
Considering the premium fees we pay for membership—hundreds of dollars each month—this level of neglect is simply unacceptable. This isn’t a budget gym like Gold’s Gym, where you might expect some issues. We pay a significant amount for what is supposed to be a top-tier fitness experience.
The heat upstairs is unbearable, especially during the summer months. It’s not just uncomfortable, but it also creates an unhealthy workout environment. The management’s lack of action in resolving this issue is mind-blowing. Despite numerous complaints from members, there seems to be no real effort to get the AC repaired.
Lifetime Fitness needs to address this immediately. We expect better service and facilities for the amount we’re paying. If the management doesn’t take swift action, I will consider canceling my membership and looking for a gym that values its members’ comfort and well-being.

Update 7/8/24: The AC has been broken for weeks now. We were told Lennox keeps rescheduling the repair date, and that the gym has been adamant about getting it fixed. We appreciate Susan's transparency on the issue.
One of my favorite things is that this gym is much cooler (temp wise) than other gyms in Austin. It was actually one of the selling points for me, as I left LAF because it was always so hot inside. I love the free samples offered in the little beverage area and how kind the staff is. Free weights are nice, and I enjoy the classes offered.
My negatives would be that the trail has several dangerous spots on it that have been washed away by rainfall but don't appear to be regularly maintained or filled in with gravel/sand. It's very easy to trip or roll your ankle on these parts, and many runners have worn in separate and safer paths in the grass. I'm not sure if this upkeep is the responsibility of the gym, apartment complex, or city, though. I'd also love to see more classes offered at different times, as classes were another one of the biggest selling points to me. I do love that you can bring a friend, but it is disappointing that you can only invite an individual once every 60 days, as some less expensive gyms offer a wider frequency of guest attendance.

Updated AGAIN: the General Manager needs to call me ASAP.
I had a body composition assessment scheduled with Jordan at this location. I received an email 9 mins before my appointment saying it was cancelled. I don’t understand if the gym allows only select times for this assessment, and a customer books that. Then why is the gym/PT canceling an appointment they said that they would be available during??…….
Save yourself the headache, avoid this arboretum location and drive the 11 mins to the Ranch Road location.
Updated: there is def a problem with guys and staring here. This gym isn’t even worth $80 a month. Everything is dirty and dusty.
It’s February and already hot inside!…… (somehow even when it’s 65 outside….)
This location is a smaller location in the terms of no childcare, sauna, steam room or indoor water stuff. I wish there was less space for group classes and more free weights. Here and Austin north (cedar park) are on the same “signature” plan which is a nice mix up.

Update: 14 month update. Still great here. Staff is amazing as always. Lot of the same staff as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the past eight months, I've been attending this Lifetime Fitness location and have enjoyed its smaller, less crowded atmosphere, especially with the 18+ policy. The staff here really make a difference - they're always approachable and genuinely friendly, adding a positive touch to every visit. I've never had a bad experience with them; it's clear they're committed to making the gym a welcoming space.
The gym's location near a lake is a unique feature, though I haven't had a chance to fully experience it yet. There's no hot sauna or steam room here, but the membership allows access to other Lifetime locations. So if you fancy a steam or sauna session, you can simply visit another location every once in a while.
Despite a higher price tag, the quality of service and overall gym experience make it a worthwhile investment. While it might not be for everyone, particularly those who prefer larger gyms, if you appreciate a more personal atmosphere with familiar faces, it's definitely worth checking out.
I do want to give a special shout-out to Erica, a staff member who stands out. From my first tour of the gym to many check-ins since, Erica's exceptional service shines through. She consistently goes above and beyond, showing immense kindness in all her interactions with us gym-goers. Her dedication is just one example of the great service that characterizes this gym.
Another shout-out goes to Rachel K., one of the yoga instructors at this location. Her teaching style and kindness in the studio have been instrumental in my deepening love for yoga. She's always open to questions, fostering an environment of learning that I greatly appreciate. Her dedication to her students' growth is evident and has positively influenced my experience at the gym.
I also want to mention Gabby and Max. While I've interacted with them less frequently, each encounter has been positive and enjoyable. There is one guy who I see cleans who just has a positive vibe, I don’t know his name but I’ll get it eventually. Even though I may not remember all the names at this moment, it's clear that the entire staff team contributes to making this gym a fantastic place to work out.

The people that work at the front desk are the worst. There's either not enough staff or too many to be helpful. I like the Friday GTX class here because of my work schedule. There were 3 people at the desk talking to each other, and even though one of them scanned me in it didn't register; they didn't notice and I got dinged for a class that I was actually present for. Today there was a man bun assisting someone else. I got in line and I stead of telling me that someone would be there to help me because he needed to leave he just walked away. I would expect a small gym like this to have better customer service.

I'll give this Lifetime Fitness credit where it's due in the fact that it's the only place where there's a quarry, allowing members to partake in lake activities and what not on their grounds. You'll need a wristband to confirm membership via the front desk, there is also an outdoor covered swim lane pool which is just fine.
Parking is insanity after work, which I've never been, I always go in the mornings or during my lunch break since the crowds are lower. This is an 18+ only restriction gym location so for childcare, this is nonexistent. Which is a bummer considering how amazing childcare is inclusive when considering our lifetime needs for our family.
The lifetime North Austin location is our home base, being only 5 mins from our house in Lakeline proximity and the fact that parents night out isn't around here makes this an adult affair, so parents will only be able to leverage this gym if kids have been dropped off at school or during the day.
The cafe is tiny, a few tables for people to set up in the front if they want to sit and indulge but otherwise, I can't really call it the full lifetime experience since no sauna or steam room is a bummer too. But again, with space restrictions, I don't think there's anywhere else put this.
Fun, fit place for the young working person in North Austin. Not so much a family friendly adult working space for the whole vibe of my day to day so this isn't my favorite but it is still a lovely gym.

This gym is an incredible location and I love the lake behind it, but the actual gym itself is not a safe space for women.
I got verbally assaulted by a man at the gym (which was recorded on the security cameras) and the management didn't kick him out or do anything to remedy it or help me feel more safe in the space.
I've been trying to continue to brave through my fear of him but the guy is still there and stares me down every time I see him so I've decided to cancel my membership for my safety.

You get gym and sauna 2-in-1! The AC isn’t broken, this is just where they keep it upstairs at 83. it’s 89F outside btw. you’d think with all the money from the pricy memberships they can afford a larger AC unit :(

Super upset that this facility does not allow allow paying lifetime members with children to access the private lake to paddle board. The front desk made my child cry as soon as we walked in by saying “we don’t allow children here”
I understand not allowing children in the gym but the lake? What’s even more ludicrous is that there is a sign on the gate that says “access for paying guest only” my child is a paying guest and for the amount we pay monthly to be discriminated this way is ridiculous.

I come here when i want to paddle board. Usually a Saturday late afternoon. They ask that you return the paddle boards by 6PM and allow for swimming until 6:30PM (Saturdays). Upon check in have the front desk give you a bracelet which has two codes on it. There are 2 gates to access the trail around Quarry Lake and the lake itself. It's clear, relaxing, quiet. there's a dock to sunbathe on. Way nicer than Lady Bird Lake. The gym itself is smaller than their south location. There is no sauna. In the women's bathroom there's the usual hair dryer, shaving stuff, q-tips, cotton balls and showering products. I think it's so nice to have this paddle board/lake with the membership. They have swim lessons here as well. The cafe looks great. Things are clean. Staff are helpful. The outdoor pool has 4 lanes since one is blocked by cement columns that hold up the patio on the second floor that has some bikes.

So my sister is a member of the South location and had taken me there as a guest. We went today to try out this location North on Braker as it is close to my house. The gym is clean with everything you would ever need, but it does not compare to the South location. There is a lap pool, but no saunas or hottubs. You can reserve kayaks and stand up paddle boards for the Quarry Lake. It's a great gym, but if you pay the same for all Lifetimes, I would feel like the value is not there. Dressing room is a lot smaller and showers don't seem as nice. I can't complain and say it isn't a nice gym. It just has nothing on the South location. However, that may be by design. Again, I would feel foolish paying as much for this gym as the South location.

Life Time fitness was exceptional today. I walked in and asked if I could workout unannounced. They waived their guest fee for me so I could check the place out. As I was walking around deciding where to start a trainer named Sage introduced himself to me. We talked about my fitness goals. He showed me a workout that he felt would be a good fit. He didn't just tell me about the workout, he showed me. He was very professional and motivating! Just exceptional customer service! Thanks again Sage!

This is a great club and despite how much smaller it is, it tends to not be very busy like the other locations. Love the added lake, outdoor workout area and rooftop feature which can allow you to take your workout outdoors and get some sun! I wish there was at least a steam-room, which would definitely give this club a 5/5, but I believe this club is definitely at least 4/5 stars overall.

Pros: excellent yoga studio and even better instructors! I love the hot studio. Classes are long and the instructors get to know you. The gym is clean and the machines are new. It has all the extras like towels and nice scales. The quarry is beautiful and the yoga classes there are relaxing. There are great after work classes! For the money you definitely get what you pay for. It’s worth it because it’s an experience. I kind of think of this as a $60 a plate restaurant.
Cons: no steam room or hot tub. This actually ended up being really negative for me. Parking sucks and if I had to park in the back it felt a bit unsafe. Weight machines were a little limited, they just really don’t have the space for more and they focus more on free weights here. You often wait to use a machine. The fragrance that they pump into this place was a HUGE turn off for me. It’s really strong, you can even smell it outside before you go in the gym. It is expensive…. In this economy I just couldn’t afford it and now I’m at a $30 a month gym with older machines but my workout hasn’t suffered but I’m also at a $15 a plate restaurant now.

This is my go-to gym. It’s spacious, clean, and not too crowded compared to some gyms I’ve been to. Great location and terrific locker room too.

The selling point for this gym is the lake they have access too. While this lifetime is probably the smallest one I've been to, it has the main things you need and a few special things (a hill inside, an outdoor patio for workouts, tires to flip outdoors) that most other lifetimes don't have. The front desk staff are great and helpful when you need anything.

I frequent Lifetime North off the 45 toll road 4-5 times per week. Never have I experienced a rude or dismissive staff member. One and only visit to this location this past Tuesday and 3 different staff members either blew me off or showed clear annoyance that I stopped them and asked a question. Ryon T. was an amazing cycle instructor though. As for this location, I'm doubtful I'll go back. Pay too much for the membership to be treated like that and be okay with it. North staff is so much friendlier and make me feel welcome...I'll stick with them.

I have an Ironman coming up and wanted to get some open water swimming in with my new swim-skin. My wife and I were in austin for the weekend for her birthday. I found quarry lake was a swimming lake owners y lifetime and read a review stating it was $25 for non-members, update it’s $40. Hence the review. I used to be a member at lifetime in Mansfield TX. The facility is much nicer there and has more amenities overall, but here you have a lake to paddle board and swim. Pretty awesome! But $40 for a day pass. I do not recommend, I tried it so you don’t have too.

This location was never meant to be a lifetime. It lacks many amenities such as a sauna and steam room yet you still pay full price for a membership. Rock climbing wall has not been open once since we joined. However, it is clean, and the staff is overall relatively friendly. Paddleboarding is a nice perk and unique to that location. Staff is nice, equipment is new, but it’s poorly planned. You’ll be waiting forever for weights while almost all cardio equipment goes untouched (some of it doesn’t even work which is hilarious). Hours are frustrating especially considering it’s more expensive than locations with longer hours.
Update: confused on owner's response: "This is what they did before so we're going to keep doing it". Not sure that logic useable in most of life. Happy to discuss thoughts in person though!

Raymond, the janitor racially profiled me outside the gym as I was leaving the outside area by the lake in the back. First off, let me say, I have spoken to Raymond on multiple occasions inside the gym. Not sure how he could say he didn’t recognize me (maybe all people of color look alike to him, not that there’s many people of color in that gym anyways). I was told by the people who work the front desk that I only need a wrist band for the lake, not the turf area. And I’ve worked outside there with other LifeTime gym members who also didn’t wear a wrist band. To top it off, as Raymond accused me of not being a member, a woman who drove by that was “white” had to validate me that I was a LifeTime member to Raymond (very sad). He then walked away; as he walked away, there was two white woman who were talking on the other side of the gate that is on the members only side, who were clearly not wearing any sort of wrist bands; Raymond kindly said hi and walked by them, not asking if they were members of LifeTime. Moving to Texas, I’ve heard crazy stories of people of color being racially profiled, I just didn’t think it would of happened to me living in Austin. I pay $200.00 a month at this gym; maybe it’s time I look somewhere else that won’t racially profile me for wanting to enjoy the sun outside.

I don't normally post reviews, but I wanted to share my experience. I requested to cancel my membership and the lady said she was sorry to see me go, but that it was cancelled. I confirmed twice that there was no further action I needed to do. A number of months later as I'm going through my credit card, I realize they never cancelled and I've been charged the whole time. Corporate office refused to do anything about it.

In six months it’s been rare for all of the amenities to be available, and there aren’t many considering how high the membership fee is.
