Raging and rude staff. Equipment was so run down that it gave me a rash using it.
(Weights were re-racked, but not between sets. I’m not sure any gym requires re-racking between sets?)

Great gym, great price. However The music is so loud that I can’t listen to my own without blasting my own ear drums, what if I don’t want to have their music blasting in my ears… ? curious if they’d consider turning it down…. Look forward to their reply

Excellent vibes!!!
Great selection of equipment with great music playing. Suitable for powerlifting, strong man and general fitness enthusiasts. You can spend a good few hours here! Staff are great and polite but paying upfront is key or bringing cash.

The gym itself has expanded over the years but I’m not sure how. The owner comes off as friendly at first and uses that to try and manipulate his patrons, and can’t seem to take a hint when you don’t accept his advances. If you want to feel comfortable while working out, I would steer clear of this gym.

Coolest gym I have ever been to. They do it right, the fact that they let you be shirtless is very motivating, while also letting people workout without shoes outside but then clear rules to wear shoes inside. This gym operates at a high operational standard. The only reason it’s not a 5 stars is that their payment system and intake is frustratingly difficult, and the guy who I was trying to sign up with was condescending and had a poor customer facing attitude. Other that dude with the ponytail the staff are super chill.

I’ve been a customer for a few months as I’m newer to town. My big issue, and why I’m looking for a new gym, is that the UT powerlifting team is now coming in at peak times and they take up quite literally all of the racks. As college kids do, they take an hour or two to be done. I work a 9-5 and I can’t really justify paying for a gym when I can’t get time in on the equipment.
I understand Austin is a college town, and the gym will have a range of people, but an entire college powerlifting team overtaking a civilian gym is kind of crazy.

Please PLEASE incorporate a policy to limit the number of lifters from UT powerlifting club that can work out at the squat racks at one time. They keep taking up nearly all of the squat tracks during after-work hours!! This leaves none left for the 98% of your customers who are also here to get a good workout in.
Take control of your own gym Lift ATX!

I wanted to love this gym, and while I did enjoy working out there, the cons outweighed the pros. Be prepared to walk through the minefield of tripods, wash rust off your hands constantly, experience long wait times, and give up your structured routine (because you’re just waiting for whatever machine is available). Loved the vibe but this is definitely a gym for people who want to be seen. I would say it’s worth an occasional day pass for a fun workout in the open air where you can go shirtless, but not worth the membership.

Accidentally spilled a few drops of water on the exposed aggregate in the sun and a staff member got parental with me and made me get a towel to wipe it.
Down the way a full size dog lapping at a water bowl creating 10 times the water mess, the dog was not accosted by staff to clean up his water.
Should be balanced in policy if you are going to bother people for things like this. We are in texas heat, the water will dry immediately. Prioritizing wild animals. Weird.

However, I’m giving it 3 stars today due to an interaction with a staff member. After misplacing my keys near the seated shoulder press machine, I went to the front desk to ask if they’d been turned in. Christian politely handed them back to me, but then added, “Just be mindful of racking your weights—you didn’t rack them.”
I asked which machine he was referring to, as I hadn’t used that one at all. Despite clarifying this, he repeated his comment without acknowledging the correction, almost like it was a standard script. When I requested to review the footage (given the gym’s visible surveillance system), he declined and continued repeating the same line.
The interaction felt unnecessary and a bit dismissive, which affected the overall experience. That said, the gym itself is well-equipped, and I may return—just be aware the staff may be quick to assume when it comes to re-racking.

I really wanted to like this place, and can understand why people love it so much. But this place just isn’t for me. Working out here makes me miss every old gym so much more. From the heavily used and worn equipment to the level of dust, crust, and or rust, to the many tripods, I quickly saw that I was paying for something I didn’t want. If you’re only concerned about vibes and aesthetics then this place is for you. There’s a general wavelength that I’m clearly not on. If your gym or fitness center needs are outside of this perimeter you could go to other places for a comparable or even a reasonably higher price. 1 star because I didn’t enjoy it, but 1 more because they’re consistent in their vision of the gym(that which I can appreciate).

LiftATX is a good strength gym. The owner constantly upgrades and swaps out machines and cares about improvements. There's not a ton of cardio machines which is a plus for me, more room for the good stuff.
Cons: Customer Service. The front desk and owner have always been polite, but the manager with the curly hair has been disrespectful and rude on multiple occasions. He's a 50/50 shot on being polite or rude and I've spoke to multiple gym goers who would agree. If you go to this gym, you'll find great equipment. But it may not be worth your integrity.

excuse me, why are the weights heavier? LOL First time visiting and the vibe is really chill but it’s definitely full of influencers and good looking people soooo if you get intimidated by good looking human beings working out then this is not a place to visit. I enjoyed my workout and will definitely come back again, it a GREAT place to get a good workout in on a sunny Austin day!

Awesome community, cool staff, nice vibes. But the facility itself is not ideal because no AC in Austin heat and extremely crammed swamp like space where you can feel everyone's body heat. Also very limited machine choice.

The aesthetics and community are incredible. I understand how that alone could make this a 5 star gym. But I must say, there are 2 huge factors limiting your workout here- 1) No AC or fans, you’ll be working out in 95 degree heat, and 2) it’s seriously lacking on machines (many are broken, there’s few to begin with). It’s also crowded. I can’t ignore this and give 5 stars just for the vibe.
I get it, people come here to take pics, and do sweaty, gritty free weight compound lifts. If that’s your only thing, I’d highly recommend. I’m sure it’s also wonderful in the winter when it’s chilly out.
The staff were friendly and great!
Go see it for yourself !

This will probably get taken down but oh well. I'm an online fitness coach with hundrends of thousands of followers on snapchat and various social media platforms. It was my first time at Lift ATX and I made the mistake of not re-racking weights. I do apologize for bad gym ettiqutte and I'll own up to it. Sometimes I get lost in the moment and forget. The front desk attendant came up to us and told us that that the rules were clear when we got in here and if we do it again we won't be able to come back. I understand where he was coming from but there was a better way to address my mistakes. As someone who works for an establishment that wants to attracts members, he needs a little softer approach to first time visitors. Overall horrible gym experience.

Probably a solid spot if you only care about lifting. I prefer more of a hybrid training style of workout and found their cardio equipment very lacking (3 or 4 treads and a stairmaster crammed in a tiny room where you are basking in other people's BO). The amount of incredibly average looking dudes making social media content was insane but I guess that is the clientale this gym is looking to attract. Not my style.

IYKYK. It’s the spot in Austin. Not your air-conditioned gold’s gym type experience. Half is outdoors, half is inside but *open-air*
Love coming here to get my sweat on and get some vitamin D, and a tan simultaneously during my workout. (Shirts optional) Immediately improved my winter blues by getting to do this outside daily. I think this is its most unique quality of LiftATX.
Fantastic pricing if you can get in at $50/mo. They also waived my initiation fee for military/first responder.
Read about why the LiftATX community was started originally— on their website. Would much rather give my money to them than a corporation.
Yes, it stays very busy due to the popularity of the place, especially at peak hours, but I’ve never been unable to find an open piece of equipment to complete my workout. If you don’t wanna use the outdoor equipment, then yeah it’s gonna be a lot harder to find an open spot so you may have to wait a few minutes for your turn.

Hands down one of the best gyms in Austin. No frills, but the owner(s) and staff also aren’t running a dump either. Equipment is updated constantly & they have the widest selection you’ll find in the city. It’s easy to chalk this place up as a “bodybuilder/powerlifter only” environment or something, but the people that workout here are chill and friendly. Great spot to train in Austin.

I’ve gone several times to this gym with day passes when I’ve visited family in town. This is an open air warehouse gym with a different culture than the corporate fitness shops, and it’s great if you’re looking to lift weights. The staff were always extremely friendly, but will be stern with people trying to sneak in or not re-racking their weights. They have a water cooler and restrooms with deodorant for people to use if they need.
Make NO MISTAKE: this is NOT LA Fitness. If you’re looking to do cardio or a HIIT class, want air conditioning, or want to be treated like a princess for walking through the door and gracing them with your presence, this isn’t the place for you. The vast majority of people there are extremely nice; don’t let their physiques, tripods (yes, there are influencers, no, they aren’t going to shame you for being in their shot), or focus on their lifts think differently.
Diversity, community, and culture with classic weightlifting equipment is what this place offered, and they deliver.

This is the best equipped gym in Austin.
I've done day passes at basically every gym in Austin that would let me have one, and I've been a member of Gold's for over a year. I've been to most of the Gold's in Austin, I've been to Equinox, Lifetime Fitness, most of the YMCAs, etc. This is the only gym in Austin I've found with a belted squat or pendulum squat. The only gym I've found with a pullover machine, plate-loaded RDL machine, selectorized skull crusher, etc. Oh and it costs what my Gold's membership does per-month.
The staff are super nice and the crowd is super friendly. The only thing that's hit or miss for me is the music selection and volume, but I'd tolerate Careless Whisper on repeat if it means I get to use a belted squat and pullover machine.

People have to start racking their weights. It’s easy. Especially if you already have all that muscle. 2 stars because the machines inside are all torn up and they smell. The cardio room always has broken down equipment. Also, they start turning off the music and shutting down by 9 when they close at 10.

Been here a couple times but almost every time I’ve had to interact with the staff they have been pretty rude and lazy. Last time I visited there was a dead baby bird on the fake turf and after I told one of the staff about it they gave me a paper towel to pick it up and throw it away myself. I also once paid for a day pass and then changed my mind and got a membership and the staff refused to reimburse or credit me for the day pass. One of the guys initially tried to help me out by giving me a sticker as a credit until a guy behind him stepped in and told me no refunds and made me pay for the sticker as well since I already put it on my bottle. If it wasn’t so conveniently located and outdoors I probably wouldn’t come back just because of the staff. Gym itself is pretty cool though.

Gone 5 times and i still feel like its fun but an ok gym at best.
A water fountain would be nice if you charging $50+ per member.
Outside gym equipment are not in best shape, soggy seats thats soak up the rain and some seats are just broken. You wanna squat outside? I wouldn’t due to the uneven floor so go inside to squat for sure.
Excited to see the expansion for sure. As of rn its a bit small, no changing rooms, showers, or anything a normal commercial gym would have for $10-30 a month. I get it tho its not a commercial gym but just trying to give a good review with honest feedback. I see the potential!
They got a big lot in the back so im hyped to see what they do with it. Maybe buy some ice baths machines (i know expensive) or something that makes the gym unique and worth the $50 membership!
Still its fun to come to when i wanna mix it up and go to a new gym for the day, so like i said its not a bad gym but also not an amazing gym. Its just alright for now but we see the potential!

A gym that left quite an impression on me. Though it may be considered small by some, I found it to have a fantastic vibe that I would rate 10/10. The selection of machines and weights was great, despite the slightly rustic appearance. However, what really stood out to me was the cleanliness and maintenance of the gym. It was clear that the owners prioritize keeping the space in top condition.
The people at the gym were also super friendly, and I noticed that dogs are allowed , which is a nice touch even though I don't personally have one. Additionally, the gym has both indoor and outdoor areas, providing a nice variety of workout environments.
While the cardio area was on the small side (just a treadmill and stairs), I still enjoyed every moment of my workout. The music selection was really nice and added to the overall great vibe of the place. Overall, the gym had a garage gym vibe but with amazing decoration, music, and a good parking lot. If you're looking for a gym with a welcoming atmosphere and great equipment, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Loved it! Went here to meet up with a personal trainer, Christian, and he immediately made sure to find out what I needed and what my goals were.
There is of course, no HVAC, but I enjoy the Texas heat most of the time. It is the winter that makes it hard for me, but once you get moving, it's not so bad.
There is soooo much equipment and it's spread out so you can set up without worrying about running into other people. There are water stations, foam rollers, lifting belts, and all kinds of tools. The one thing that makes this place amazing is that the people who work out here clean up after themselves and it generally gives a vibe that you are part of the gym's livelihood.
If you're under the impression that it's the staff's job to clean up after you, go somewhere else, please!

Pure class. The owner Daniel created an amazing culmination of a positive atmosphere and an expansive array of equipment. This atmosphere was carefully constructed piece by piece over the years with deep thought behind everything the gym has to offer. This carefully created atmosphere further culminated into a catalyst for one of the greatest communities this industry has to offer. Nothing but great vibes all around. Even when people did try any stunts, it has always been handled swiftly and beutifully mature. Perfect for powerlifting, bodybuilding, HIIT, cardio training, basic calisthenics, and functional training. Go see the gym for yourself and you'll understand that this review is an understatement.

The environment and community is awesome! There’s some great equipment pieces there but there’s always broken pieces in need of repair every time I go. Because it’s such a popular gym, it’s always packed and you often have to wait in equipment. If you like powerlifting then they have all the speciality bars, deadlift platforms and calibrated plates that you’d be looking for. If you’re into bodybuilding then you’ll have some fun equipment to try out (if it’s it already taken) and the lighting by the dumbbells is great.

Be careful of accidentally leaving belongings
1. Left Nike training shoes on accident, called and they said “if items aren’t collected in 48 hours, we get rid of them” (never heard of gym throwing peoples belongings away)
2. Brought in a friend to workout with me and help her with some movements, got accused of personal training and owner made a shady post on insta instead of speaking to me.
3. They’re outdoor equipment is NEVER sanitized, they said “the sun will clean it” also never seen indoor equipment cleaned either.

I love this gym & I feel at home when I workout here. It has all of the machines I like & need. Half of it is outside. the environment & vibe is perfect for those who want to lift heavy things & set them down. The bathrooms are very clean. There are showers. Great for many athletes. The music is always on point. And staff are chill & cool. The best gym in town hands down!

100% the best gym in Austin. Solid equipment and everything, BUT THE BATHROOMS. I only poop at home and here cuz with the full-sized doors for each throne room, the music blasting, and everyone having their headphones in, no one can hear you kicking and screaming when you’re fighting for your life against the preworkout/protein shake bomb going off in your stomach. Thanks LiftATX, sorry for leaving scratches on the bathroom walls <3

I've tried 3 solid gyms in Austin, plus all the gyms at UT. Of all them, this is my favorite. I would mostly recommend for gym rats, though the community is welcoming to newcomers, and there's a wealth of knowledge here. Staff is very friendly, and there are even free events hosted for the community. They're also constantly improving the gym. The owner is friendly and hangs out in front of the gym.

Good equipment selection, mostly bodybuilding-centric, but there are large areas for powerlifting, oly lifting, and sport training. Incredible atmosphere that gets you amped. Go shirtless, be loud, use chalk, you just have to rerack your weights. The only cons are that it can get hot and crowded, and I can see that being intimidating to newcomers. If that's you, there are plenty of people here willing to help you out, especially the staff.

This is THE gym of ATX. If you love the iron, you'll love it.

Went to this gym for the first time. Did a photo shoot and I really enjoyed the feel layout of this gym. Indoor/outdoor aspect with no A/C makes for a good workout when adding sunshine to your workouts. Weekday day pass was only $10 (I think it's more on the weekend) which isn't bad if you want to try out a new gym. I will be going back to this gym.

Decent but the toilet seats on most of the new bathrooms don't stay up, so it's very annoying to pee, and also the kg weights have almost no edge/handle on them so they're very annoying to pick up. And I see some new black 25lb weights with small edges too. Seriously who designed these weights??
