Authentic gym, many members of all types to work with, all coaches are experienced, they are ex fighters or current fighters themselves. Most members are also really good even with little to no fights, just shows how good of teachers the coaches truly are. no matter your experience the members will work with you and help you throughout your journey as well. When it comes to sparring (boxing) the coaches do a good job on the match ups, they will find an appropriate teammate to practice your skills with, and even if you practice with someone much more experienced they really do work with you appropriately. Best thing about the gym is the large group of members, so many people to practice and work with.

I’ve been training at Main Street Boxing and Muay Thai for over 8 years, focusing on striking and MMA under Kru Bob Perez, and it has been an absolute game-changer for my skills and my life. Kru Bob leveled up my technique incredibly, pushing me to heights I never thought possible. Thanks to this gym and Kru Bob, I’ve had the honor of training alongside UFC fighters and veterans like Derrick Lewis, Kevin Holland, Rafael Alves, Mana Martinez, and many others—it’s inspiring to share the mats with such elite talent.
Beyond the training, Kru Bob has shaped the direction of my life in profound ways. He gave me my first opportunities to not only compete but to coach as well. I dove into the amateur fighting scene for a while, and I’ve been coaching ever since, with even more focus on it recently. I owe my entire coaching journey to him—I’m forever grateful for his guidance and for this incredible gym.
I also have to shout out Coach Aaron Navarro and Bobby Benton, who are some of the highest-level boxing coaches around. Their expertise is unmatched. This place is a gold mine for anyone serious about combat sports—whether you’re a beginner, hobbyist, or pro. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars.

Moved to the Houston area this past summer, been coming to Main Street ever since. Have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I have been training muay thai, boxing and mma elsewhere across the country for some time, and can definitely say Main Street is one of my favorite places I have been, and came highly recommended.

I drive a good bit to get to the gym (~50 minutes) its worth the drive. I mainly attend the afternoon muay thai due to my work schedule. Jacob Berry and Paul Garza run a great program. They push their students and are very knowledgeable.

Training partners are very good. The facility is robust, I love that it doesnt have that corporate sterile feel that some other gyms have. The facility is great overall, makes me feel like im training in Mickeys gym from Rocky lol. Great place to train!!

I was excited to check this gym out for their Muay Thai program after moving to the area. I’ve trained Muay Thai for 5 years and had a handful of smokers. I’m by no means a pro but also not a beginner.

A friend and I took one of the 7 AM Muay Thai classes taught by AK. The class was good with a standard format of skipping rope, shadow boxing, drilling, and then conditioning on the bag. Overall that was a pleasant experience.

The real problem was when we attended the Muay Thai sparring on Saturday at 11 AM. Most of the people were pleasant. We informed the coach, Jacob Berry, that we were just trying out the class. He told us everyone spars very light here. Once sparring began, Jacob elected to use 10 oz. gloves. Anyone who has trained Muay Thai for any length of time knows that standard etiquette is to spar in 16 oz. gloves. It’s important to also note that I weigh about 150 pounds, my friend weighs about the same, and Jacob looks like he weighs closer to 190.

When sparring my friend, Jacob proceeded to strike much harder than you would during light sparring. He also hit my friend after the bell. I watched him spar several others, hitting them with force in his small gloves. He would then take a few rounds off and go out again, going hard.

The sparring class concluded with 2 rounds of clinching. After the class Jacob left quickly before we could confront him. We spoke to some of the other members who didn’t seem surprised by our experience and said, “That’s just how he is”. I find this to be reprehensible. The members we spoke to expressed that they were hobbyists but did not seem to understand that a coach should not be looking to hurt students and that sparring in 10 oz. gloves for Muay Thai goes against all sparring etiquette especially for a man weighing around 190. Some of these members seemed content to be bullied by Jacob while others stated that they were glad they didn’t have rounds with him that day. Others shared stories of being dropped by him in the past.

As someone who has cross trained with at least 5 other gyms, I have never encountered a coach looking to hurt students. The job of a coach in Muay Thai is to educate and maintain a safe environment for people to train within. A coach should be professional enough to exercise control when sparring with the understanding that their skill set exceeds that of the students.

Also, I know my money will not make or break the gym but I cannot recommend this gym to anyone. When a prospective customer pays money to try out a gym, the onus is on the employees to provide customer service that leaves a positive impact, a good experience, and hopefully leads to that prospect becoming a member. Myself and at least three of my friends have been searching for a gym and we will not be signing up at Main Street due to this experience.

Lastly, I pity any complete novice who attempts to start sparring here only to be beat on by their coach. This behavior is abusive and should not be tolerated but many people new to the sport will not understand this and will continue to pay money to accumulate brain damage and injuries. If you are a hobbyist and not looking to be a professional fighter, I cannot in good faith recommend this gym. There are many other gyms in the Houston area. Be sure to look for a gym who will value your contribution as a member and respect you as a human. Just because someone is a professional fighter does not give them free rein to harm you.

Mainstreet boxing changed me and my brother’s life! That place got us in the best shape physically & mentally! It was very intimidating when we first started becuz this is a real fight gym w real fighters, so we’re like, “yah, I don’t know about this spot?!?” Not only have we gotten into great shape but we have made some life long friendships w the trainers and other people working out there!!! This place is is freaking awesome, wonderful, cool & fun!!! It’s all of those adjectives but best of all, you will get in shape and change your life!!! (If you want to) We love and absolutely appreciate Mainstreet Boxing & Mutai!!!

One of the few authentic boxing gyms in Houston. Place is great and well equipped. Trainers know their stuff and very helpful to teach you. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and answered all my questions. Just a warning: you will sweat and work your body like never before training here.

The most authentic gym in Houston!!! If you want to train along side and with REAL boxers and fighters this is the only place to be. The instructors are all the real deal! The atmosphere itself is motivating, and no matter if you've never set foot in a gym the classes will have you wanting more. Main Street also had the BEST prices of all other "fight" gyms I was so surprised!

I moved to Houston for 4 months and I could not have chosen a better boxing gym. This is one of the best gyms I have ever been to. The coaches are active and former fighters that will work with you no matter what level you. Cannot recommend this gym enough. Thank you to all of the coaches for a great experience. If you ever have the chance go to Main St.

absolutely the only place to look if you want to get serious about boxing or mma. high quality coaches & trainers that demand hard work, but are the first ones to be the example of what that looks like. shoutout to coach Isaac who’s the voice I always want in my corner, and to Trouble who keeps things locked down at the front desk - go see him and he’ll hook you up!

Best gym hands down! Everyone is one big happy family. This is a place to really learn techniques, and better yourself. You will never be bored, I have been going for 8 months already, and everyday still feels like a new adventure. The coaches are really a 10/10, and will work with you. The gym offers Muay Thai, boxing, fight fit, MMA, BJJ, and you can request personal training with the coaches. Come and join!

The gym it’s self is straight. I have respect for the training that occurs there. On the financial side of it, I lost all respect. I was involved in a car accident on August 30th, 2020. I was charged $150 the following September and I couldn’t attend anymore due to physical therapy. I spoke to a man on the phone that gave me two options after I requested a refund.
He said I can either get a refund or they can hold it until I come back.
I called back many times and they never answered after that. I called back today and the manager mentioned she has no proof of that. So I will not be getting my money back and I would have to sign up again.
The sad part is I really loved the gym but once you break trust over something small like this, it’s a slippery slope.
I have a strong influence on social media so I was going to promote this place but it is what it is.

I was so excited to start working with this team once I talked to the receptionist and found out they offered "private" sessions. After talking to the trainer it looks like only smaller group sessions are offered not personal one on one if you work office hours like me. I guess it's based on availability but the term "personal" was not understood. Honestly seems like an awesome place to train. I would be 100% down if private sessions were offered. Not private until someone else signs up sessions.

Main Street has had a great reputation all the years I've been in this sport and business. One of the best in Houston.
Please do take into any consideration the 1 star review of Jay A! She did the same to our gym last night, and left 2 1 star reviews after we worked after hours to accommodate her. Bad for business! Gyms Beware of "Judith" 30 year old female.

I received a reply to my review about being charged in August when I was not there in August. I selected the unlimited no-contract membership that is $175 and it's only valid for one month. If it's only valid for one month and I only came in July why was I charged in August and Sept if I only came in July.
They stated that I came in August and I did not come in August and I was very clear that I would not be coming after July because of my new work schedule. They keep saying that their records show that I was there yet they did not review the cameras to show proof that I was. At this point, it seems like they are just saying whatever to justify charging me. I do not like the fact that I am being told that I was present somewhere when I was not and I'm being charged for it. That is not okay and that is not a good way to run a business.

I was charged on August 11th when I did not attend on that day. My last day was in July because of my work schedule and I told them that. I called after noticing that I was charged in September as well. I spoke with a lady who claimed to be the manager of the gym, but she is simply the front desk manager/receptionist and she stated that she can't refund the one in August because I was there. I asked how? I couldn't have been there on August 11th if I am at work. I work til 6:30pm so I wouldn't be able to even make it to the class. The receptionist didnt seem to understand and kept saying someone saw me come in. I asked her to review the camera and even ask one of the amateur boxing coaches that I have worked with on Tuesdays. I still have not recieved my refund.

I love this gym and all of the Kru's, especially Kru Bob Perez! Ive been training in various martial arts (off & on) for over 30 yrs & I can attest that the teaching style @ Main Street Boxing & Muay Thai is phenomenal, they teach the students thru building blocks but @ the same time they don't hold back your progress like some gyms...that hold up progress or make you feel bad for learning slow. You can learn as fast or slow as you want... I learn something new every time I go to a class. #5Stars #VeryHappyStudent

In all honesty the equipment is old, they almost never use their AC, and my car got stolen out of the parking lot behind the gym. (I contribute the theft due to the bail bonds man next door) Despite all that I still love the place, because has a real quality that makes you feel training there can make you into actual pro boxer. If that's what you're looking for then this is the place for you.
