My 10 yr old daughter recently joined the JO level 4 team in June. We have seen so much progress and we are very happy to be a part of the Mavericks family! Her coaches Jazz, Amaya, and Jenine are wonderful and really care about the safety and progress of every athlete. They are always communicating with me about her progress and what she needs to work on as well as what areas she did well. My daughter loves all of her coaches and how they push her to do her best! The owners Kim and Courtney communicate to the parents very well and I feel we are always informed. We also love that we have a team booster club to offset some of the team expenses. Overall we have had a wonderful experience at Mavericks and we look forward to seeing my daughter’s progression during the upcoming season and through the years to come.

Love Mavericks! We’ve been attending since my oldest daughter was in Pre-K, and now she’s in 1st grade. After trying three other gyms and a separate tumbling class, I can confidently say Mavericks stands out. Their coaches do an exceptional job building strong fundamentals while still keeping classes fun, encouraging, and building confidence.

Coach Natalie makes gymnastics entertaining and fun for my 5 year old daughter who has never been in any sport. She’s attentive and patient with her class of 7. The enrollment process was very easy. The gym offers classes all week and at various times. They offer makeup classes when the kids are sick and they’re very understanding. We make the hour drive every week because for once my daughter is asking to come! She loves it and I’m so glad we found this gym!

We have been taking classes at Mavericks for several years now. We tried several gymnastics places before landing at Mavericks and it definitely stood out above the others.

One thing I love is that Mavericks invests in their rec kids in addition to their competition kids. They measure progress and you can see growth even in their recreational program. I love that they do regular evaluations with feedback. And the rec coaches are wonderful - the program doesn't feel like an afterthought.

My 10 year old is no longer taking gymnastics but had a great experience going through the beginner and intermediate levels. My 4 year old is very opinionated on the activities she wants to participate in on any given day but she loves her gymnastics class and is always ready to run right in. Someone had recommended this place to me. Initial impression, there was no one at front desk and I just had to figure out where to go for first class. Cleanliness is fair. Her initial teacher was really good, and my daughter enjoyed going. However, she left for another job and there was someone new that replaced her that didn’t have much experience. I was disappointed with the flexibility to move to a different class time. Since my daughter was scheduled to start school in August, I had requested for a change in class and gave notice 7/30. I was told we would be placed on hold until my requested time was available. Instead I got charged for the whole month we were supposed to be on hold plus an additional prorated amount. Once the class time couldn’t be accommodated then they added a drop date. I wish this could have been communicated better, I would have dropped the class as soon as they told me there were no classes available. I’ve had better experiences at our current gym and definitely will not be returning here.

Two of our children have been attending Mavericks for about a year in the recreational program. They really enjoy the classes and I like how positive the environment is. I waited about 10 minutes before I was able to get someone’s attention to speak to them as it was my daughter’s s first class and I didn’t know what to do because her dad signed her up, so I didn’t have any info. Seems as though no one stays at the front desk. It seems like an okay gym so far. Wish it was a little bigger as all the equipment in the gym seems a little crowded/close together to me. The only real negative thing I will say is that the viewing room upstairs for parents is disgusting!! They really need to deep clean and repaint- especially the area below the big viewing window. Felt gross just sitting there. They should also clean their floors throughout the day, they have the younger kids walk barefoot downstairs to the main gym after being in the upstairs room for awhile. I was cringing at that cause it was filthy. Really hope the rest of the gym where the kids are isn’t like that and I just am unable to tell from far away…

Recently, we came back to Maverick Gymnastics (2023) after trying cheer at another gym, and I have to say, I personally appreciate the way they run their gym. The coaches encourage each individual to push to their full potential without being overbearing or demeaning. Our personal experience with Coach Ashley has been rewarding. My daughter loves Coach Ashley, and I personally think she does an outstanding job managing the team as a whole while still giving each one individual attention. Coach Mimi is the perfect compliment to the level 2 team. Not only does it help keep student: teacher ratio down, but they both go around and make sure each person is doing what they're supposed to be doing and doing it correctly!! Keep up the great work! My daughter attended gymnastics here for over a year. In that year I’ve always paid on time. There was never an issue. But magically when I decided to take my daughter out of classes there was an issue. I let one of the coaches know that I was ending classes when I paid for September tuition and asked if there was anything I needed to do and she told me no that she would cancel it for me. I thought that was that, but today I get a text message (no call) from the owner demanding October's tuition which confused me since we haven’t been there since September. She then let me know a verbal notice isn’t accepted. Would've been nice to know that almost 2 months ago. How can you expect parents to know the policies if your own coaches don’t? Then come to find out one of the coaches went into my account and put a notice for classes to end on 11/15. I was not aware of this. I highly suggest you teach the staff your polices since they clearly don’t know what your polices are. Beware parents. Everything is fine when you’re giving them money but the second you leave they charge you for stuff they shouldn’t. By the way I paid the $85 tuition plus a $15 “late” fee that I shouldn’t have to pay because the owner sent me screenshots of their “policies” saying if I didn’t there could be legal action against me, I paid in full so I better not get any more “fees” like you clearly stated in text you will change the 30 day notice to end on 10/31. You got your money you so clearly needed. Hopefully you can use it to fix the water damage that’s been there forever. What a scam.

I just left this gym. I tried going to the adult open gym for the first time. When I went inside, not a single worker greeted me. Nobody said hello. I think someone threw up in their toilet, when I went to use it, it had chunks on it. For 20 min I stayed in my little corner trying to practice. However, the gym had grown men flipping all on the main floor. There was LOUD rap music playing. When I called yesterday, I was told a female instructor would be available. I asked her for help but she was busy doing a private lesson. She sent to me the man who was at the front desk who completely ignored me as I walked in. The lady instructor told him to help me. However, I only feel comfortable with a female instructor and this guy didn't seem like he really wanted to help, he only went up to me because he was told to. I left after 20 min. It was a horrible experience.

This review is for coach Lauren! My son, F, started at age 3 and he's just turned 4. He absolutely loves his coach and class. He gets very excited and sometimes has a hard time listening since he's so young and has so much energy. Coach Lauren is just amazing with him despite this. She has patience and is able to redirect him with kindness. She's a great coach and in the short time we've been here, I've seen so much improvement with our son. He has gained a lot of core and upper body strength and just looks forward to going every single week. We love watching him learn something new and have fun with it!

My twins started at Mavericks this year and are in LOVE! They wish they could go everyday, and Coach Yani is so patient in helping them acquire new skills while sharing some laughs. We are lucky to have found this gym!

Shhh, this gym is the best kept secret in SA for little gymnasts!!! The toddler classes have several time options and the coaches are AMAZING!! They actually work with the kids to gain skills and techniques in a fun but intentional environment. My girl loves to go to class and I love that she is building new skills!! We have been to other gyms, but we drive from across town to come here for their pre-school classes!! Did I mention class sizes are small enough for the coach to give attention to each kid, but shh don't tell too many people.

Both of my kids (2 yr old boy & 6 yr old girl) absolutely love mavericks! The coaches are fabulous in giving individualized coaching to each kid. My son is in Tiny mavs and it is so much more than just gymnastics. Ms. Anissa has created an environment where the kids learn physically, emotional intelligence, and how to interact with other little ones. My son gets so much more out of the class than just gymnastics. I highly recommend Mavericks!

I signed up my two daughters for camp, expecting them to have a fun and educational experience. However, that's not how it played out. After a whole hour on the very first day, we received a panic-induced call from the camp coordinator, who apparently had already decided that my 7-year-old was the next Evel Knievel. One hour in. We went immediately to the gym to pick her up and talk to the staff. We do not defend such behavior and we had a strict discussion about expectations and consequences when we got home. The next day we took both girls to camp, and they both made it through the four hours. When I went to pick up, I asked how the day went. This time I was told my oldest daughter had an issue because she would only do what the staff asked of her one time. My oldest daughter apparently committed the cardinal sin of only performing gymnastic moves once? And as for my younger daughter, she had the audacity to be curious about a dog at the facility and have fun in the foam pit. My oldest daughter is the pinnacle of rules and following directions, so at this point, I started questioning the ability and what qualifications they had to work with children. I also started questioning why a dog was present at a gym, because what's more conducive to focus and discipline than having a furry distraction roaming around? After we got home, I talked to the girls about what happened. My oldest burst into tears and said she had no idea she was in trouble. My youngest daughter said, “I really wanted to see the doggy and the foam pit is fun.” I called the gym to inquire about a partial refund for my youngest daughter stating that this maybe wasn’t a good fit for her. I was told that we would need to talk with the owner about processing a refund. I said please have the owner call me. I received no callback. Wednesday morning, I decided to only take my oldest daughter in to camp, leaving my younger one at home. No call back on Wednesday. On Thursday, I called the gym and asked to speak to the owner. I finally managed to get Kim on the phone, only for her to "disconnect unexpectedly without a return call." Instead of calling back after she hung up on me, like a normal human being, she texted me two hours later stating she had to run payroll and had meetings and would call me back later. I received no call back that day. After another 24 hours, Kim opted for a text message. In the text message exchange Kim said her and her staff “made every effort” to keep my daughter in camp. To me every effort entails actually picking up the phone and discussing the issue like responsible adults. Apparently, their definition of "every effort" involves being MIA for days and responding with disinterested text messages. Kim also said they changed their refund policy this year and do not issue refunds. I said I think an exception can be made given the circumstances and that the camp wasn’t right for one of my daughters. She said, “I would be more than willing to make an exception if I felt like we did something wrong.” But the actual issue regarding an exception being made is that your staff wasn’t equipped to handle my daughter and we didn’t feel it right to continue sending her back to gym. Which is why I inquired on Tuesday at 1PM about a partial refund for Wednesday and Thursday’s tuition. Again, we don’t defend or condone unsafe behavior. But I’m just shocked about the unprofessional way this was handled. My daughter spent a total of FIVE hours at this gym, it was five hours too many. She would have been better off teaching gymnastics to herself in the backyard with a YouTube tutorial. I could have paid the neighbor kid the same amount to just supervise this “Evel-Knievel-wannabe-maniac.” At least she would have gotten more caring instructors from YouTube and then I would not have had to take time away from work to deal with Kim and her telephobia. I really hope the partial payment, a whopping $75, I was asking for was worth it. I’d highly recommend you use the money to take a class on how to conquer your fear of phone calls.

Called to schedule an evaluation for my daughter to be on the team. The day of the eval, there was no one at the front desk. We stood there for at least 20 mins waiting and no one ever came. I had to poke my head in the gym to get someone's attention. Also, while we waited, their voicemail would pick up incoming calls, but it's like one of those older answering machines because everyone in the lobby could clearly hear the caller leaving their message. I remember turning to my husband saying, "remind me never to leave a message if I call because everyone will be able to hear it." After the eval, we were told our daughter did great, but there are no spots on the team and they'd get back to us. Ok, not a problem. The problem is that now, almost a month later, I'm getting an email saying that my daughter's tuition and registration fee haven't been paid. No one has even called me about this! My daughter isn't even enrolled in their classes at this point! I tried calling twice, but it just went to voicemail (surprise, surprise.)

Do yourself a favor and go to Powerhouse TnT. Reasonable prices, always someone at the front desk to help and answer calls, and they have an easy system to register and pay tuition.

We needed a change for our daughter b/c she was not improving at another local gym. Steve and Gaby are by far the best coaches in Texas they have guided my daughter both mentally and physically to achieve great things.
