I joined Motive ATX Training in August 2025, and my experience has been nothing short of exceptional.

My first consultation with Brian Murray was both informative and educational. I never felt pressured to join, but Brian’s thoughtful analysis of my movement and his ability to explain things clearly really stood out. It also didn’t hurt that we bonded over being fellow World of Warcraft nerds — for the Horde! That genuine connection and his professionalism made the decision to sign up an easy one.

Shortly after, Brian paired me with Brian Cassady (aka “Young Brian”) as my personal trainer, and that’s where the real transformation began. Through his customized program, I saw noticeable improvements in my hip mobility — increasing both internal and external rotation — and developed smoother, more efficient movement overall. I also hit some personal goals like being able to perform more push-ups and pull-up motions than ever before.

Brian taught me the value of slowing down, paying attention to how my joints move, and focusing on form before intensity. That mindset shift made a huge difference in my progress.

Not to be dramatic, but going to Motive Training has changed my life. I have a really demanding job with lots of travel, so I appreciate the flexibility and customization of the personal training sessions. Prior to this I hadn’t worked out in three years, but since starting at Motive Training, I have been consistently working out 2 to 4 times a week. I have to give Coach Robin credit for this progress. He has motivated me and gradually increased my goals so that working out is sustainable over a long period of time. I notice myself having a lot more mobility, reduced pain, and increased strength. Brian is one of the best trainers I’ve worked with. I’ve been working out for a few years now and been dealing with back, shoulder and knee pain when I push hard. Brian has helped with alleviating the pain and I’m now able to workout with pain reduced 70-80% just after a month.

I started at Motive Firness about 4 months ago. I’m 69 years old and have exercised my entire life, but mainly in sports that include different forms of balls (college baseball pitcher, basketball through senior high, tennis (National Doubles Champ in my forty’s). I added cycling and mid-distance running when my two daughters were pursuing their athletic achievements. My nutrition has always been controlled purposefully as a product of my 59 years as a Type 1, insulin dependent, diabetic. As a result of my athletic activity choices muscle flexibility and range of motion was, unknown to me, extremely absent. After my 2x/week trainer workouts at Motive, my flexibility/range of motion/overall strength has dramatically improved without a bulky look outcome. Getting undivided trainer attention to my fitness goals and needs is provided at every workout and I am very grateful for it. The folks at Motive make you WANT to train harder than you've ever trained before. They're super knowledgeable about mobility and strength training, and they have a bunch of great online tools and a gym-specific app to help make sure you're training safely and activating the right muscles/joints.

But just as importantly, they're also great at becoming that accountability friend you need to train/eat effectively outside of sessions. This isn't exactly an aggro crossfit gym; they actually pay close attention and care enough about you as a person to make it feel like you're just hanging with friends - while also doing the most intense workouts you'll ever try.

Ive seen massive improvements to my mobility, strength, training habits, and eating habits from just a couple months of training once a week here. Best money spent, next to food, therapy, and rent!

I played soccer throughout my youth and all the way through college. Despite all those years with high-level coaches and trainers, I was never taught ANYTHING about mobility or how my body should move. No one ever taught me how to avoid injury. I didn't even know it was possible. I thought injuries were something that "just happens."

After returning to the sport after taking a few years off, I found myself riddled with injuries. My hips would ache for days after a game. Every couple of months, I would strain either a quad, hamstring, or groin. I thought this was all just a part of aging while still trying to play a very physically demanding sport.

I began training at Motive even though I didn't think there was anything "wrong." I found out that my injuries weren't something that "just happened." They happened because my hips were tight. Because my ankles were limited in their range of motion. Because my upper spine could BARELY move.

I've been training with Motive for five months now and I haven't had a single injury. I'm able to play 2-3 soccer games every weekend and my body feels better than it has in years.

Brian's been an amazing partner in this effort. My first interaction with Brian was how to fix my sore right hip. At that time, I was losing my flexibility as well as having issues completing my lifts.

After some discussions with Brian, I switched to high bar to ease the load off my posterior chain since my program was too taxing. The end result is that I'm no longer sore and got all my flexibility back.

I recently signed up with Motive Training and started working with Brian Murray and my experience has been outstanding.
My initial goals ranged from reducing pain from training to supporting my calisthenic goals. Right off the bat, Brian worked with me to understand these goals and the limitations I had been experiencing so he could personalize my workout plan.
He doesn’t just set it and forget it either. After my solo workouts, I sometimes message Brian with questions and he will either provide clarification or suggest changes to the plan to accommodate my concerns and encourage further development. He uses my feedback and my stats to create a new plan every few weeks so I don’t get physically and mentally fatigued from the workout. Needless to say, Brian helped me accomplish those initial goals and empowered me to go beyond them.

One of the things that keeps me coming back is how much I keep learning from Brian. He is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. He’s also able to convey that information in a concise way that translates to immediate changes in the way I move and function. As a dancer and a martial artist, I have found my practices improved by the wisdom I’ve gained from working with him even though we don’t train those things specifically. Through some of the exercises he’s coached me through, I’ve internalized methods to understand my body’s strength and range of motion. As a result, I’ve begun to train myself out of bad habits during the various movement arts I take on. In the rare instances that I have a question that Brian can’t answer, he has no problem admitting so and either doing more research to come up with an answer later, or he works with me to find someone who can. Brian is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. He patiently helped me work through some unique physical issues to help me advance in my fitness journey. Without his guidance, I would been training incorrectly/less optimally. One word: WOW! I had an evaluation with Brian for some shoulder, elbow, and wrist pain in my right arm, and it was honestly the MOST thorough anyone has EVER looked at my arm. And I have had plenty of people evaluate me over the years, but no one has come to close to really trying to locate the issue of my problem like Brian did. He guided me on what was going on with my arm and where I had some mobility issues at. He explained everything in a really easy to understand manner. He also took the time to explain to me how we will address my issues going forward to get me back on track. I look forward to gaining my mobility back and working with him even more in the future!!

I write this as I’m in elevated pigeon pose, something I learned from motive. Brian was able to pin point all the ways my body is incapable of moving and provided stretches to help with my hip’s inability to internally rotate. Never have I ever had legs this strong! Brian is so thorough. Seriously. With Motive Training, I feel challenged but never out of my comfort zone. A lot of emphasis is put on performing the movements correctly and ensuring the right muscles are being targeted, and I think that’s why I’m seeing such great results (AND the sudden pains I used to get during workouts are gone!!!). :)
