Terrible communication from this organization. A service provider should have better relations than NEG does. Tried to speak with the owner to provide constructive feedback to improve the experience of others, and unfortunately have been unsuccessful in doing so.

Coach Alden is very good to interact with, but a majority of interactions we've had here has just not been good. My kid, who started out eager to learn gymnastics has felt discouraged because a couple of the coaches she's dealt with, don't seem to know how to properly teach and motivate a child. Most recently, she had a makeup class during evaluations week (which I hadn't realized was happening) and after about 10~15 mins, came out crying, confidence a little shattered, and didn't want to go back in, because the coach showed her something new she hadn't been taught in her usual class yet, asked her to do it and then proceeded to repeatedly tell her she did it wrong when she attempted to do it. No gentle guidance that would allow my kid to learn and succeed and feel good about herself. I understand you don't have the time to do it during evaluations week, but the alternative of just telling a child she's wrong is so demoralizing and not what a good coach should be doing.

When I brought up this issue to the girl sitting in the front office, Michella or something like that, she was cold and completely devoid of compassion for the distress my kid and I were in and merely stated this was evaluations week, like that was justification enough. After I pressed her on the lack of support, she offered to pass on my contact to the head coach. This lack of warmth and capacity to truly see and encourage people seems to permeate this space and neither my daughter nor I have experienced a lot of positive interactions at this place. We'll try to find a better place/people to encourage my kid in learning gymnastics.

We started up at National Elite last year with my 10 year old twins doing the homeschool gymnastics class. First off, I really appreciate the ability to bring my kids during the week to a class with a small number of kids. The class unfortunately didn't go through the summer due to camps, but now that it's back for this school year they're extremely excited to come every week.

My 12 year old also did the backflip intensives over the summer as he attempts to land one for his taekwondo demo team. The progress he made in those 2-3 days of intensives plus a couple of private lessons with Alden is quite amazing; he's so close!

We decided to register our daughter for a different after school and summer program next year and we won’t be back. We really wanted to do NEG because she loves gymnastics but the people here really took the joy out of it for her. She was crying daily when we picked her up. She was always “in trouble” simply for being a kid. She and her friends would say things like “camp is supposed to be fun” and sharing how they get yelled at constantly by Coaches Angel and Lexi. Everyone we know has stopped attending for the same reason and she doesn’t have any friends here anymore. I hope they fix the culture and climate so this can someday again be an engaging, fun and appropriate gymnastics facility for kids.

We had to leave here. My daughter was miserable every single day here. They don’t have a lot of engagement and the staff just scream at them. They scream at them for talking normal levels, scream at them to walk in line like it’s prison, scream at them for having fun, scream at them for everything. I’m not paying for that. Coach Angel is the worst screaming like a maniac and issuing misc. inappropriate consequences to the children. She threw their water bottles in the rocks after a screaming fit, for example. We have only ever experienced the tears and bad day our child had from her constant screaming or we see Angel hanging all over every male when we come to pick up our child. Either way, she is inappropriate and shouldn’t be around children.

UPDATE: I have lowered my review to 1 star based on the owner's response. I suggest that NEG address the issues raised below with the coach re: the water bottles rather than calling my child and others campers who were there liars. My daughter did not make up the story about Coach Angel's behavior. I find her behavior and the owner's response to be unprofessional. And as for the open gym situation, the coaches were standing around talking to one another and I didn't see anyone helping the campers with any skills. If that is an option, it wasn't relayed to the kiddos. Do better.

I agree with other reviews that communication isn’t great with NEG coaches or staff, but my daughter does enjoy the gymnastics. That’s why we decided to sign up for summer camp drop-in days. I’m extremely disappointed in the way the camp is run, esp for the amount of money it costs to attend. Coach counselors speak unnecessarily sternly to the children in an effort to keep everyone quiet and behaved. There were only 28 kids in total - the same as in an elementary classroom - so we’re not talking large numbers. Furthermore, there isn’t any gymnastics going on - no learning fun skills - just open gym time where the kids run around. After a long hot field trip day where they didn’t have access to their water bottles for a couple of hours, Coach Angel threw the water bottles of those that weren’t labeled onto the ground beside the bus/van… in front of the kiddos. I teach my daughter to be a good steward of her things, but she can’t really do that when an adult throws it on the ground and dents it. It would be easy to pass it off as a bad day, but my daughter and I both had uncomfortable interactions during the week. None of this is a recipe for fun summer camp vibes. I do not plan to ever book an NEG camp again.

We've been going to National Elite for 4 months now and are very happy! They were really supportive in the beginning when my 5 years old was a little apprehensive and they agreed to let her do a number of free trial classes to get her comfortable. The gym is huge with lots of learning to be done!

We recently started tumbling classes for my daughter for her cheer team. We have been very impressed with the coaches who are working with her. They are knowledgeable and very encouraging. We like how they divide out the girls with those that know more than others in the class. The facility is clean and well-equipped, and the class sizes are small enough to ensure every student gets personal attention. What I appreciate most is how the instructors balance structure with fun—they push the kids to improve, but always in a supportive way that builds confidence. My daughter always leaves in a great mood and is smiling throughout the class.

Our 12-year-old daughter has been attending NEG for recreational gymnastics since kindergarten. I love that she’s stayed with it for so many years, and I believe that’s because of the incredible coaches and the consistently positive, fun atmosphere.

NEG has taught her more than just physical skills. When she’s facing a challenge with homework or anything else, we often remind her, “Remember when you finally nailed that back handspring? Remember how hard you worked for it, and how amazing it felt when you did it?” NEG has helped instill in her the belief that hard things are achievable with practice, patience, and persistence.

She's also attended summer camp (and is bummed this is her last eligible year) and Friday open gyms. Love NEG! Oh, and have had a birthday party there, and attended several!

National Elite is such a happy place for my daughter! She has experienced being on “team” as well as taking advanced recreational classes, and has enjoyed both experiences. There is such a wonderful combination of high level training and silliness/fun between the coaches and athletes! They truly have something for a child at any level.

We’ve had a great experience at NEG! My daughter was apprehensive at first, but NEG allowed my older son to join the pre-k class and help build up her comfort with the class. After she broke through those initial feelings she’s been hooked! She looks forward to her class every week and we’ve noticed a big difference in her physical abilities. She’s getting stronger and more confident! All the coaches have been amazing too, especially Coach Alden that goes out of his way to make sure each kid is engaged and happy. Thank you so much for helping our kids!

My daughter loves this gym & is always excited to go to class. Only complains are there are rarely anyone at the front desk, the class teacher changes (inconsistent who the teacher will be that week), and the place smells like rubber. Other than that we love NEG & are excited to go each week. Staff is kind & caring to our little girl so we cant ask for more.

We've been coming here for over a year and both my kids love it! We have one in Beginner gymnastics + after school pickup, and another in Preschool gymnastics. It's also been super helpful to have full day gymnastics classes while public school is out! The staff is great and they're also really careful with my daughter's food allergy during snacktime, which I appreciate! Highly recommend.

We have loved our experience at NEG. I was unsure how a class for my 3 year old was going to go, but there are many different ‘stations’ that keep the kids engaged that are specifically for the little ones. I appreciate the bounce house (for fun) , obstacle course (for coordination) and the toddler sized gym. Bonus there is a play area outside if your child still needs to burn energy. Overall great set up and fantastic teachers!

Our family loves NEG!! My daughter was taking gymnastics classes at another gym when she started coming to Mothers Morning Out at 4/5yo. She loved her teacher, Coach Jill, who is AMAZING!

From there she joined the Mighty Mights training team as a 5/6yo again with Coach Jill. I was very impressed with the attention to detail and the technique that was taught here (a huge difference to the other gym.) And equally impressed with my daughters progress!

This year my daughter is apart of the JO level 3 team and I am in awe of how hard these girls work and the emphasis on proper technique and safety the coaches have. While it is a more intense program my daughter loves the challenge!

I also have a 10yo son who takes tumbling and a 2yo son who does the toddler class. And they both love it! We’ve also had a birthday party here which was a total hit!

Lastly, I have to mention Danielle, who works at the front desk. She is so extremely kind and helpful. From day one she’s been welcoming and quick to answer emails or any questions that I’ve had.

My 7YO decided to do gymnastics instead of dance this year. She's LOVED it so far, and we are 6 months into it. When compared to dance classes which we've done since she was 4, I appreciate that there isn't a huge expensive recital at the end of the year, although at the time, that seemed fun. I also think she's getting much more physical exercise and activity than she ever got in dance class.
I think the teachers are great.
I don't love the parents "waiting room" in the evenings. Its very crowded, and not alot of circulation, which makes it feel stuffy. Dance class was a similar situation though too, so I haven't seen a comfortable parents viewing area anywhere!
All in all, we'll be continuing on at NEG and are happy with it!

National Elite Gymnastics has been an incredible experience for Ameliya! From the moment we joined, the welcoming atmosphere and top-tier coaching stood out. The coaches are truly phenomenal—knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to helping every child grow in skill and confidence.

A special shoutout to Danielle, who is absolutely amazing! She’s incredibly responsive and quick to resolve any issues, making sure everything runs smoothly. It’s clear that she and the entire team genuinely care about the gymnasts and their families.

Ameliya looks forward to every session and has made significant progress, both physically and in her confidence. The energy, professionalism, and supportive environment make this gym a fantastic place for any aspiring gymnast. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Amazing Gym!

My daughter LOVES gymnastics, and I can’t say enough great things about NEG! She started about four months ago, and in that short time, her skills have skyrocketed, her confidence has grown tremendously, and she looks forward to every single class. The coaches here are incredible—not only are they skilled and supportive, but they also build genuine connections with the kids.

We recently had her birthday party at NEG, and it was fantastic! They had everything we needed for a stress-free, fun-filled celebration, and having the entire gym for the party made it even more special. The kids had an absolute blast!

If you’re looking for a top-notch gymnastics gym that fosters growth, confidence, and fun, this is the place. I highly, highly recommend NEG—it’s full of great people who truly care about young athletes!

We tried other gymastics classes for our two daughters in the area, but one trial class at NEG and our girls were hooked. I think this is the best gymnastics gym in Austin. We were previously at another gym, and moved here on the recommendation of another parent. I could tell right away that this was a professional gym when my daughter received a very comprehensive assessment of her skills and they worked with me to find the most appropriate class for her. You can get a sense of order at NEG - no easy feat. In our prior gym, my kids were often bored and said that they wanted to quit. They are always excited out NEG. Part of that might be that they are constantly rotating among stations with the other kids. Part of it is probably the quality of attention from the coaches. For my toddler, part of it is definitely having a bounce house blown up near the end of his practice. In just two months, I have seen more growth in their skills than I saw in the prior year at their former gym.

I rarely write online reviews, especially negative ones, but our experience with NEG was so disappointing that I feel it's important for other parents to know. We had a trial session for Little Gymnastics for my 4-year-old daughter, who had been eagerly anticipating this class all summer. Upon arrival, we found no one at the front desk. We entered, got her into her gym outfit, and waited. Coaches started to arrive, but not one of them greeted us. I finally approached one, who turned out to be the Preschool gym coach. She was very friendly but knew little about Little Gymnastics and mentioned it was her last day anyway as she was returning to school. Still, no one else acknowledged us, and we had to read wall signs to figure out where my daughter should line up. Children from preschool age to about 10 years old were all in lines together. When they opened the doors, they didn't address any of the kids individually, just announced to everyone to start running for warm-up. Parents weren't allowed in the gym and had to watch from behind a window. My daughter seemed a bit lost but followed along. Four coaches were "supervising" them. At one point, she bumped into another child, hurt her head, and started crying. She looked to the coaches for help, but no one moved. I'd like to think they didn't see her, but is that any better? When she realized no one was going to help, she burst into tears and ran away. No one noticed or tried to follow her.
After she calmed down, I entered the gym to explain to a coach that it was my daughter's first time, she was a bit overwhelmed and had hurt herself, but would love to try again with some guidance. The coach looked at me as if I was being unreasonable and did nothing. The other coaches nearby didn't even react. By this point, I was getting really upset, and my daughter was begging to leave, so we did. Again, no one noticed or tried to stop us. On our way out, I spoke to someone at the front desk to let them know we wouldn't be returning. He offered to accompany my daughter back in, but it was obviously too late.
I understand this is an "elite" facility, but being elite doesn't mean completely ignoring the children, especially at such a young age.
While the facility may work for some, the lack of attention and care, especially for young, new students was shocking and truly disappointing.

My kiddo has been attending gymnastics, and my partner attends the adult parkour open gym on Wednesdays. They are both happy with the quality of classes. Communication is often not great with this gym via phone or e-mail. It seems they could greatly use more staffing. I also wish that the classes were organized more by age group like they are at many other gyms. It seems that the skill level jump between beginner and intermediate is huge. I also feel like more fitness classes for both youth and adults would be an excellent addition to the schedule.

My daughter has been going for past 1 and 1/2 years, During this time she has had Coach Aldin, Coach Hailey and Coach Johnny. She absloutely loves NEG. She has improved a lot in her skiill set.

Pros:
NEG enforces warm ups before every class which was a big plus for us. Coaches are very encouraging and enforces good practices. Open gym are very good option for kids to practice new skills.

Cons:
Sometimes this place gets a bit unorganized but ultimately things get done. Its hard to get someone to talk on phone. Email seems to be a bettter way for communication but sometimes leads to delayed response.

Recommendation: If they could update the payment for open gym from not being only cash to some other means of payment that will be great. ( I have already notified the management about it) Hope it gets updated in 2024.

I have not used the birthday party options so cant comment on that but I have seen this place packed with birthday parties every Saturday I have been there.

We have attended NEG for a few years, but recently my daughter has really focused on gymnastics as her primary sport. She has gotten so much better under the coaches' instruction in the past year. Also, as a busy parent, I love the camps they offer on school breaks and over the summers.

Both kids have been going here for years and love the place. One on one lessons with Alden are great and my son is progressively getting better. More importantly he’s having fun and building confidence. The girls team always does well at competitions and are having fun doing it. It can be a bit disorganized at times, but otherwise solid place. Open gym and parents night out on Fridays are a lifesaver.

Recommend, great place.
Have been going to NEG for adult private sessions for a month now. Coach Johnny is great. He is patient and understanding. His knowledge of the sport is exceptional. His style of training is great.
The gym has various mats and equipment to progress any student.
Adult tumbling class is great. Coaches are around to spot athletes as they practice.
If I had to say something to improve, perhaps more adult evening classes for working adults.

We have absolutely loved our experience at NEG! We have been there a little over a year and my girls have progressed tremendously. We have tried a couple other gyms in the area, but nothing comes close to NEG. Specifically Coach Johnny has been amazing, he really cares about his students and gives very specific individual instruction and attention. He encourages them to progress and be their best, but never pushes beyond their personal comfort level. Safety is a priority, and proper form and conditioning is also emphasized. Coach Alden is a great coach and manager of the gym, and makes sure everyone is informed of schedules and events, and makes everyone feel like a part of the community. Lots of smiles and a welcoming feeling overall, couldn't be happier!

Very unorganized. Not paying attention to the students. The instructors don’t instruct. The instructors don’t spot the children. They just stand in the corner and chitchat all day. They speak poorly about the students who are not up to their perfect gymnastics standards, but then again, they’re not teaching them anyways. Not really sure what they’re doing. It’s upsetting to watch. The bullying is the worst. These are children!!! so now that’s how we teach our children by whispering about them, and making fun of them. The kids are really trying to learn and these instructors aren’t teaching them anything . These kinds of facilities give the gymnastics community a bad name, It’s a shame.

We hosted my daughter's birthday there on 7/9/23 and while the kids had a blast, the overall experience was horrible. I couldn't reach anyone at the gym via phone, social or email for 2 days leading up to the party. No one reached out to me to discuss the setup of the party, which apparently is 15 minutes before the party start time - not nearly enough time for parents to set up a table, cake, food, decor etc. I wasn't even sure if they had our party on their radar still and showed up praying they would arrive. They were there 15 minutes before and the gym was over 80 degrees inside. The owner apparently keeps a code to turn on the AC and he either has to turn it on from his phone or be present to get the AC running. Turning it on at the start of the party at 11am is unacceptable for a party with 30 children + adults in the dead of summer in TX. Everyone was sweating. After I complained with the owner, he was unable to extend the party time due to another party starting right after; he also did not offer to reduce the party cost. I do not recommend hosting your child's party here. Find another gym that has a more responsible staff for peace of mind.

We had a very poor experience with my daughters birthday party last weekend. We were promised that we would be contacted by the owner by Jay and no one called. When I called Wednesday, I spoke with the owner’s son. At first he said he had no idea that there had been a problem and acted shocked and then backtracked later and said that he known I had had a bad experience and that his team hadn’t shown up to open the gym on time, and that the but just didn’t think we wanted him to call. Aside from the party starting late, the 2nd coach that finally showed up 45 minutes late to a 90 minute party just stood there on her phone. I could go on...
I asked him to have the owner call by Friday and of course I’ve heard nothing. They obviously don’t care about service. I’m not even looking to get my money back, if that is what they are scared of.
The owner called me today and left me a message saying he didn’t understand why it was imperative that he called. He called from a blocked number and didn’t leave contact information. All I wanted was a sincere apology that they didn’t provide the service the promised. I don’t even want my money back.
And shame on me for booking here I read another review On Facebook where the team didn’t show up either. Obviously this is a recurring problem.
