The best gym in Houston. Feels more like a family than a gym.
Ed is running a top notch operation and one of the things I appreciate the most is just how clean the gym is at ALL TIMES. They employ quite a few employees who are consistently making sure the gym is absolutely spotless.

Honest Review After a Year at This Gym
I initially signed up for classes at this gym because I thrive more in a group setting than working out alone. I appreciated the open layout of the facility and found the bathrooms to be consistently clean, which is a plus.
However, after spending a year here, I’ve had mixed experiences—especially with the classes and overall environment. The classes are hit or miss, and I believe the instructors could be more engaged and consistent. On several occasions, I’ve noticed personal trainers holding sessions right in the middle of walkways, which creates congestion—especially when you’re just trying to get to class. What’s frustrating is that there’s a large, often-empty soccer area that could easily accommodate these sessions without causing issues.
It’s also clear that the gym has a certain culture, seemingly catering to a specific crowd. Some members show up more for socializing than working out, and that vibe can be distracting. I’ve even witnessed inappropriate interactions between "clients" and instructors, which made me uncomfortable. For example, while I was trying to ask an instructor for help with an exercise, he was completely absorbed in a flirtatious exchange with another member—ignoring me entirely. That moment alone told me a lot about priorities here.
Favoritism is also noticeable in classes. Instructors often spend the majority of the session talking to specific individuals or groups, which takes away from the instruction and energy of the class. I understand engaging with members is part of the job, but when it becomes a distraction and prevents them from actually teaching, it’s frustrating—especially when you’ve paid for a membership and carved time out of your day for a productive workout.
Reflecting on my first day during the tour, I now see the front desk associate’s comment as a warning. They casually mentioned that “this isn’t a gym for results—most people come here after they’ve already hit their goals.” After a year, I can say that’s accurate. It feels more like a social club than a place to push yourself and make real progress.
Other concerns include the music—while varied to appeal to the majority, it often lacks the energy needed to motivate a good workout. Staff attitude is another issue. Some instructors come off as arrogant, uninterested, or flat-out rude. The front desk staff often only greet select people, which feels unprofessional and unwelcoming. I hope management makes an effort to hire a more diverse, friendly, and customer-service-oriented team.
Overall, while the space itself has potential, the gym needs serious improvements in professionalism, culture, and instructional quality. It’s not a place I’d recommend if you're looking for real fitness results and a supportive atmosphere.

I came in for a recovery day and took Rick’s 11:15am Vinyasa class. His flow was really well-sequenced, the cuing was simple and clear, and I appreciated how he encouraged props. The music was perfect—uplifting but without words—and ending with the singing bowls in shavasana was a highlight. After class I did a cold plunge, contrast therapy, and some time in the dry sauna. Between the recovery options and the quality of teachers, this isn’t a typical gym—it’s a place that invests in thoughtful programming and talented staff. Excited to keep coming back.

I went to Amanda's Wed night class Mobility + Recovery Flow last night, and it was so, so good. The vibe was peaceful but intentional. We used props to help us relax and release tension. She took our suggestions too on what our bodies needed. I appreciate when a teacher gives clear verbal cues about how to move your body. I learned a lot. I especially enjoyed the yoga triangles we used to release pressure points, such as in the glutes. I'll be back again!

I came from a ballroom dancing background and never really stepped foot into a gym until I retired from competing. I am so happy to find OA and I’ve been training with their Premier trainer Monica. She has gotten me back in shape after two pregnancies and even help me prepare for three fitness competitions and place top 3! Success is about knowing where to find the answer and Monica has never been a gate keeper. I love how the gym is laid out and they even have a hill, sand, volleyball, soccer field, boxing ring, and jujitsu. They do offer a lot of classes, I tend to stick with weight training and cardio. The gym is fantastic and I refer my friends here all the time, but what has really kept me here and motivated is my amazing trainer who is made someone who never went to the gym create habits and make it my second home.

I’ve been going to this gym consistently for the past two years. It impresses me how the staff makes a sincere effort to remember members names and ensure every person who enters, feels welcomed and valued.
Cleanliness is also top-notch. The equipment, locker rooms, and floors are spotless. I would literally eat a protein bar off the ground and be confident that it had like 0 germs. It’s obvious the team takes pride in the space, and honestly, that makes it easier to do the same (or at least to wipe down the treadmill after pretending to run).
What really keeps me coming back, though, is the sense of community. It’s not one of those hyper-intimidating gyms where everyone looks like a dang Marvel extra. People are genuine, encouraging, and make everyone feel like a “someone” no matter what “fitness level” you’re at. It’s also a great way to get plugged in (especially of new to the area) because there are lots of social gathering opportunities! Gym etiquette also exists here so yay for that!!!

My husband, our roommate, and I were members at this gym for ~3 years and we just recently decided to switch. While there were a few things we really liked (detailed below), the behavior from several trainers, as well as the general treatment of gym goers was unacceptable.
Pros:
-Extremely kind and diligent cleaning staff - probably the cleanest gym you'll go to in Houston
-Equipment is moderately well-maintained although probably not on par when considering the hefty price tag
-Locker room amenities are nice and clean
-At the right times, the gym is not insanely busy (this is the only reason we stayed members for so long, it just worked with our schedule that we could go during non peak hours)
The main cons:
-amount of equipment (only having one type of each machine)
-general layout of the equipment (very cramped with 60%+ of the space being unusable)
-unacceptable trainer behavior
To elaborate: A select few of the trainers are conscientious of the amount of space they take up, but several of them will sit on equipment adjacent to what they are using and stare at their phones. It is truly astounding that Monica is allowed to take up wide swaths of the turf area (even using movie theater type rope barricades to block about 30% of the space between the weight area and the turf area), making it difficult to find space to do exercises. It was not uncommon for other gym members to comment on her discourteous and inconsiderate behavior (unprovoked) during the time we were members. While there were many small encounters, two ultimately led to us deciding to find another gym:
1) While pregnant, I was doing glute bridges, which required laying on my back (approved by MD, part of a pregnancy focused workout program). Unprompted, Monica shook her finger at me and told me that I shouldn't workout on my back while pregnant. I told her that new studies showed it was fine to do for short periods and she doubled down telling me that she had trained 30+ pregnancies (have never seen her train anyone that was pregnant in the 3 years I attended this gym) and that I was harming my unborn child. This was unsolicited, misinformed advice and furthermore, delivered in an unkind manner.
2) Once back in the gym post-baby, Eliseo had ~6-8 people he was simultaneously training while he sat on the hip thrust benches. I asked if he minded if I used one of the two benches and he replied "you know you can't move them". Note that his clients were all using machines and not on the turf area at the time. In addition, I set up on the side where we he didn't have any equipment staged. I replied, "I know, I just didn't want to get in your way." to which he didn't reply. I set up a small circuit next to the bench. Not only did he and his clients continue to sit and text or play on their phones on both hip thrust benches when I wasn't actively using them, but he proceeded to set up mats / equipment right where I was doing the other exercise next to the bench. Like literally placed a mat directly on top of my dumbbells while they whispered things about pushing me out of the area to his clients. He could have easily set up elsewhere or simply said no when I asked to use the bench, but instead, he was incredibly rude. I cried in my car on the way home and I just can't imagine treating someone that way and then giggling about it.
I've never taken the classes, but they seem fine for folks that just want to get their heart rate up and have a sense of community. If you are serious about strength training and want to workout alone in peace with considerate staff members, I would suggest avoiding this gym at all costs. Don't let the nice exterior fool you, it's very expensive and ultimately a pretty rough experience. Having heard a ton of people complain about similar issues, I would hope that management reins in some of the trainers, especially with the amount of space they occupy and how they treat solo lifters.

O Athletik has been a game changer in my fitness goals. The gym community is amazing, and the facility is incredibly managed, ensuring cleanliness and professionalism in service. I've been a member for a year, and this gym has consistently exceeded my expectations. The trainers are outstanding, always on time and dedicated to pushing everyone to improve through well-coordinated classes. This isn’t just an ordinary gym—it offers so much more when you become a member. In addition, the community goes the extra mile by organizing socials, making it easy to connect with other members and trainers in a fun and welcoming environment.

I had used class pass to book for boxing cardio Wednesday January 1st at 5:30pm-6:30 with Lee Davis. No one showed. I was there from 5:15pm to 5:45pm. I could care less about it being New Year’s Day . Completely unacceptable to be inconsiderate of someone else’s time. Really pissed off that I also wasted my free trial credits on a class where no one showed up. I believe you can cancel a class ahead of time if the trainer was not up to part to train a class on New Year’s Day. Way to start the year . O Athletik won’t be have to worry about me.

I haven't gone to this gym in over 2 years and have long since cancelled my membership, but apparently an employee thought it was okay or it maybe that it would be overlooked to charge a $3.25 drink to my card that was apparently still on file. I've since had to go through the inconvenience of cancelling that card and redo a bunch of automatic payments because of the fraud charge. It's an amazing gym, but seriously do better.
If management wants to discuss this, you obviously stored my CC info so you can find my phone number or email.

As a college student living in College Station, I came to Houston for the summer to visit my family & wanted to find a gym I could attend. Needless to say, I found O’athletik and attended their boxing classes with coach Alex. I had an amazing experience, and every class was a challenge and it gave me the push I needed to reach my fitness goals. The staff & management were also very helpful with any questions I had! Now moving back to College Station, I wish there was another facility located there so I could attend while I’m going to school. If you’re looking for a welcoming safe space to train, I would 100% recommend O’athletik!

My friends and I come here every Sunday. We don’t have memberships, so we just purchase day passes, which, by the way, are so reasonably prices. Just $15. There’s no reception, so that made it confusing. But, I came to learn that the staff behind the café counter are also impromptu receptionists.
The layout of the gym is sectioned like Tetris blocks. Right before the entrance is a door into their group classes. Then, when you walk in, the indoor field is to the right. On the left is a large squared section divided into halves with equipment on one side and BJJ mats, punching bags, a large ring, and an octagon on the other. It’s really aesthetically organized.
There’s always plenty of equipment available every time I’ve gone. Which makes sense because there’s no formal reception for membership services.
The thing I love most though is the cleanliness. Every area is constantly being sanitized. It smells fresh, and I’ve never been able to say that about any gym.

Gym and Front Desk Staff are awesome! This place is the cleanest gym I have ever experienced. Full weight room, long field sized turf section for Sled Work, a full size boxing ring, full size MMA Ring, and a sand volleyball court. Literally everything you could need to work out like a pro athlete. The trainers here are super cool too, after a couple weeks they become like friends and its good to see them around :) Good community for sure! The Best Gym in Houston!

I'm not a fan of gyms but this one is completely different and I love coming here. I ended up getting a trainer because lets be honest i'm out of shape and needed someone who can help me especially when it comes to my form. I reached out to AJ who immediately knew what needed to be done for myself. Hard workouts but 100% worth it, along with the meal plans that he set up for me which are easy to follow and very thorough. I go 3x a week and i've already noticed a huge difference in my body. Honestly the best money i've spent considering i'm seeing a huge difference!

I remember when they first opened, it looked a little too fancy or expensive for me.
I found out they offer brazilian juijitsu in the morning as part of the normal package, so i decided to check them out. Turns out the Professor is a world class champion & coach. Professor Washington is a multi stripe (3or 4) Blackbelt who really cares for his students. The class size is perfect in that it is small enough for Prof to keep a close eye on how people are doing (and what specifically each person can do to improve) , but big enough to keep rolls interesting.
On top of this, for the Joe Rogan fans, you can hit up the sauna & then take a cold shower (mini plunge) afterwards.
Couple that with mobility, yoga, and cardio classes, not to mention weights, (all included), & you can be the best you.
This review is more bjj focused, so if you are thinking to yourself, ‘bjj is not for me’, I would still encourage you to stop by for a trial.
The employees have great attitudes & are ever so welcoming - they always stop what they are doing to say good morning & goodbye w/ a smile (perhaps this sounds cheesy to mention, as the skeptic in me/you may think the gesture is artificial…. Everyone has ups & downs, so taking a weighted avg, my vote is that it is genuine). Lastly, management is attentive & fair. Evidence of this can be seen in many ways. A few examples: always have lots of clean towels (for shower & workouts). Water fountains work. Equipment is top notch & in good repair. Outdoor hill astroturf replaced with even better quality, safer version. Sand volley ball pit still clean & appealing as ever. Boxing ring, octagon, & bjj mats all regularly cleaned - never heard of anyone getting ringworm, etc.
This place is just a great place to go.

Follow up review,
Decreased stars from 4 to 2. Again most, not all, but most of the trainers here like to act like they are better than anyone who is not their client & I am disgusted with this. Imagine working out & a trainer walking by you then proceeds to say, "I hate everyone in here right now" to their client, that is what my partner heard today while working out. If I heard an employee/trainer say that, there is no way I would want to be there anymore, that is unwelcoming & beyond unprofessional. Not sure how much longer we will stick around here with trainers that bring the energy down.
Review from two months ago:
I'm not from here, but visit often & drop ins can get costly. The owner Eduardo was great in finding a membership that best suited my individual needs.
My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that some (not all) of the trainers can seem a bit condescending & unfriendly. There have been many times where we have seen some taking up equipment, but not actually using them. There was 2 days in a row I worked out here & wanted to use one of the hip thrusting benches, but a trainer had set up shop on/around both, sitting & again, not actually utilizing them. I probably could have asked to use a bench, but it would be nice for the trainers to be mindful of members if they aren't using a piece of equipment at a certain time.
Overall, this gym is a very cool facility and extremely clean.

Loved the gym while I went there. Great classes and decent workout equipment. The biggest downfall of the gym is the the cancelation process. I canceled my membership after being there for 2+ years and all was well until I started getting emails and phone calls from their billing department saying I owed my months dues. Come to find out that when I canceled my membership, they put my account on hold instead. I called their billing company and was told the account had been taken off of the temp hold and now I owed money and the only way to resolve this was to call Oathletik and talk to a manager. I called for 4 days straight asking to talk to a manager about the situation and was told I would receive a phone call back shortly. This never happened and I would have to call again the next day. Finally I told the front desk that I had heard the same line over and over again and it was getting old. After about a business weeks time, I had yet to hear from anyone. The only reason I think my membership has been canceled is because the app is asking me to log in. Outside of that, I haven’t received any sort of confirmation.
Great gym but awful management. Would be nice to have a clean break from the gym but I have no idea if my membership is truly canceled as the manager is always too busy and will “get back to me.”

Cancelled membership in December after fulfilling my one-year contract. O Athletik continues to charge me $113 each month. Whenever I call they acknowledge the mistake, but then claim the manager isn't around to help me. They claim to be "working on it" and claim to "get back to me" and this never happens. I have emailed their cancellation department and their manager directly and have not had a single response. This is either gross incompetence or fraud. I see from the other Google reviews that I am not the only one with this problem. You've been warned.

For 3 months I have been attempting to cancel my membership. I have been calling since early January in which each time I called up until March 6th I was told by a staff member that there was nothing they could do that I would need to speak to a manager and that they would have the manager call me back. Not once did I receive a call back so on March 6th I called to speak with a manager because on that date I was informed I needed to fill out a cancellation form. This was the first time I had ever been informed by anyone about this form. I requested to speak to the manager as I was told that there was nothing I could do about my previous attempts. I then spoke to Bryan who then told me that I would be refunded for the recent charge of $113.66 within 3 days. He stated I would be only refunded for one month since the cancellation process is 30 days and due to my attempt in January not being held through and as well as no one on the staff knowing that a cancellation form was required. Fast forward to today March 14th and a refund has still not been given...also, I called again to speak with the manager and I find out that I still have not had my account cancelled. Again I was told that the manager, Bryan will call and speak with me again... I'm still awaiting the call... I really enjoyed this gym when I was there but have a hard time recommending it as no one on staff that I have interacted with does what they have stated they will do.

By far the best gym in Houston. Perfectly designed for the up and coming athlete, the professional training for offseason, the former athlete or the average person looking for a full body reformation. As a former athlete I can honestly say I've never seen a facility this comprehensive since my college days. The trainers are professional and well credentialed. Certainly a hidden gem in the city of Houston. Well done AP.

The women's sauna has been broken for going on 3 MONTHS (4 months now - 11/20/17) Prior to that it was up for about two weeks after being down for another month and a half. Myself and others have complained about how unreasonable this is almost every time we visit the gym and every time we are told "the guy is coming to fix it tomorrow." Apparently he is not. The purpose of paying a $100 plus membership is for the amenities. The amenities are not being provided, and without them the membership price is not worth it. 3 months is not an acceptable amount of time for the sauna to be down. If it continues to be unusable the price of a women's membership should be lowered, as we are not receiving the same amenities as other members. This is ridiculous and half your members are being taken advantage of.

I've only been here once, take this review with a grain of salt.
This place has absolutely everything you need from a gym. It even has a 30ft hill, a boxing ring, an octagon, mat area for grappling, a sandbox, and various classes.
Staff was courteous and very helpful. The only drawback to this gym is the price. I believe it's $125/month which includes access to all the classes and equipment. Honestly, the price isn't that bad considering everything that's included.

O Athletik is a fantastic gym with great personal trainers and staff. There is one weed that ruins the flowers, we’ll call her Fit Diva, or just “M”. She’s a personal trainer that is loved by some and loathed by others. I’ve reached my limit with her. When her client was running with a sled he let us know he was coming. We didn’t see or hear him, so the 3 of us quickly moved aside. She said, “There’s no need to tell them you’re coming. They’ll move when they see you or get run over. They know what this area is for”. There’s something called “gym etiquette” and she needs to get some. I brought a friend here as a my guest, she also had her run-in with M in the restroom. She asked you a simple question about training at the gym, and you acted like she didn’t exist.
M, you’re a personal trainer at O Athletik. That is your place of employment. Imagine if we walked into our offices with your same bad attitude. Learn gym etiquette, and keep the negative talking to a minimum.

** UPDATE as of 9/23/16 ** I emailed twice to try and cancel my membership and got no response, so I called the gym this afternoon to see how to cancel. I spoke with the manager, Ben, initially trying to avoid going into the specifics of my unhappiness and just cancel the membership. He asked for details and I went through the entire story, adding that I didn't find it worth my time to be a member of a gym that's not really much of a gym -- only 3 stair climbers, like 6 treadmills, terrible parking. He took offense and became combative, and tried to fight with me over the phone about the gym quality, claiming I was being offensive. A final nail in the coffin for that place, as far as I'm concerned. I strongly urge you to consider joining a different gym before this place. Bad management, mediocre facilities unless you want to spend your time on an artificial soccer field, and an outrageous $200 cancellation fee despite a year's worth of *documented* disappointments and shortcomings.
I've technically been a member of this gym for over a year. I signed up in 2015 and was told told over the course of several months that the gym was about to open -- obviously that wasn't the case. I personally signed up because I was looking for a more affordable option for barre classes; when the schedule was posted around opening, there were very few barre classes offered. I followed up on that and was told -- by an instructor, someone at the front desk, AND a manager -- that more would be added, and at working-friendly times rather than, for example, 9:30 am.
I was medically unable to exercise for a couple months but now that I've been cleared I went to register for barre classes again, but 1) you can't register for a class more than 5 days in advance which is problematic when I'm trying to plan a week, and 2) the barre classes disappeared from the schedule. I've been told they'll be added back but have no further information around their timing/days/etc.
Overall I'm at the point where I wish I'd gone with my gut when I was told it was a year-long contract or nothing and never signed up because it has NOT been worth the time, money, or aggravation of being a member.

Nice friendly place where I don't have to worry about somebody dropping weights on my foot or a bunch of horn dogs. I was surprised after the first week they were opened when they said they were going to add more classes as they already have a ton - friendly boot camps, MMA, boxing, kickboxing, cross fit, etc.

March 2016. I joined O Athletik and began this week. I couldn't be happier. The current pricing is: $25 to join and then about $105 a month. Expensive for me, yes, as I have a lifetime fixed price 24 Hour Fitness membership for $100 per year. But the experience is night and day. O Athletik is like one of those all inclusive vacations. The focus here is on interesting classes to keep one motivated . And there are a number of classes each day. I have thoroughly enjoyed every one that I have taken and I now look forward to exercising again. But on the days that I don't want a class, they have an excellent selection of free weights and Free Motion machines, a brand that happens to be one of my favorites. So, although I am still in the honeymoon phase of my membership, I can give it a big thumbs up recommendation. Other pluses, the music is kept to a reasonable level so it doesn't hurt your ears or cause hearing damage; the facilities are immaculate/clean, which has not been my experience at other gyms; the members using the facilities seem to be really committed to cleaning up after themselves, that is, putting the weights back, etc. ; every staff member and teacher whom I have met is wonderful. Especially recommend the Gassed Cardio, the GRE Fit and the Triple A Fit, as well as the yoga classes. As a member, you go into the website, find the schedule for the week and register for the classes that you will be attending. It's really easy. And currently, I haven't had any problems with getting into any class that I was interested in.
Be wary of a negative review, here in Google for O Athletik.
A person with the initials A.G.G. wrote an incredibly negative review of O Athletik. I checked and this person has only written two reviews. He made such comments as:
"Wish I could give no stars. Gym has been open for a couple of months (some areas showers, coffee/shake bar are still under construction) I happen to stop by the other day workout. There is an Asian or Pacific Islander that works there and immediately was a complete jerk. He advised I leave the gym because the gym was closed. Yes, he said the whole gym was closed. Mind you I asked there are clients (a friend working out at that moment) here as well and I have paid my fee. He advised that it wasn't true. He did not care and moved in closer to me as to intimidate me to remove myself from the place. Horrible, horrible, horrible! Once I find out his name I will gladly post it so the company and people who go there be aware of this little "
The problem is...A.G.G. has painted himself into a corner with a bogus review. BECAUSE, O Athletik was not even open yet. They were still in construction as of March 2016. So there is no way that the things that he states happened could have happened.
