My 3 children have been going to Optimist GYM about 5 times and they love it! We love it so much that they beg me every week to keep coming back. Everyone is like family. The Sensei's (teachers) are so patient even with the smallest kids. Mine are 12,11, and 10. Even with only 5 classes they learned so much that their confidence is through the roof. I feel confident as a mother that my daughter and boys will be able to tackle this crazy world we live in and be able to self defend themselves or help others in need.

I love this club and have been coming with my kids for years. It's a long drive after work but it's the highlight of my week.

If you want to try it out (adults or kids) you should show up by 6:20 on Thursday night and go into the office and let them know you are new. It's $3 for an individual or $5 a family, which is just incredible. They'll let you borrow a gi and have you fill out some waivers. You should be clean and have trim nails. The students are of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Most of the senseis are former or current high-level competitors but the club is welcoming to casual students. Many of the instructors are professional educators, and they all are patient and fun with the kids. The kids class and adult class run concurrently in the same room, and everyone understands if you have to step off the mat to attend to your kids.

Like the other review said I had to wait, but it was worth it. I didn't want to interrupt class i went in on a Tuesday which is a day for higher belts than i am. Anyways once i did receive the attention needed, the ladies there were very helpful.i ended up going to judo on a Thursday and it was a blast. While as an adult you are in the same room as the children, and at one point in time you are working out right along side the same children. Later you are split up by age, adults and children. Way cool place come and see for yourself. Good atmosphere and good training for the money. Hope the info helps.

This place is amazing! My son and nephews attend Judo weekly, they really teach your kids and make it fun and focus on safety, as long as my son stays interested in learning I will be taking him here and daughter also if she decides to join it's non profit and family friendly I don't know why the other guy thinks you have to be an insider, you do not! Go speak to the sweet lady in the office she will give you all the info you need!

This place is a Oasis amongst Martial arts gym. This place is truly open for the soul purpose of teaching Martial arts. It is a non profit and has been ran by the same family for over 30 years.

I walked in to get information about training and stood around for a half hour without anyone introducing themselves or offering to help. Sent an email inquiry as well and never received a reply. Seems to be an insiders club, got to know someone to get in.
