OTF Sola is an amazing community. Head coach Jonnie has done a great job of practicing inclusion at any fitness level. New to the gym is coach Matthew who focuses on technique and safety. My two favorite coaches so much that I’ll adjust my schedule to take class with them. I’ve even found myself following Matthew between Sola and Sunset Valley! Come for the class, stay for the community. Thank you OTF for helping me reach my fitness goals and more importantly creating an outlet for your members to improve their overall health and wellness.

I recently attempted to try my very first Orange theory class at this location, but had such a disappointing experience prior to the class that I didn’t even want to walk inside the studio. I was running behind on getting to the studio 30 minutes early to the class, as I understand this is something the staff asks of new clients. However, I believe this is a tall order, and life and traffic happens. So I unfortunately didn’t meet that 30 minute mark. However, I was already parked at the studio at 5:15. I called the studio back as I saw they attempted to call while I was occupied in traffic. I spoke to John over the phone, told him I was walking around the corner, but seemed very resistant on letting me into the class. I told him I understood the 30 minute policy for new clients, however, none of the Orange Theory staff told me that if I didn’t make it 30 minutes early, I wouldn’t be allowed to join the class. Because I didn’t arrive at 5 PM, even though the class start time is 5:30, the way John handled the call left a bitter taste in my mouth of Orange Theory moving forward. John’s tone seemed rude and unforgiving, he said I would be “lost” in the class since I didn’t make it early enough for introductions. I have personally been in the fitness industry for the past 3 years, and in the Customer Service industry since 2019. If I was in John shoes, I would’ve been much kinder and forgiving to the NEW customer to leave a more positive impression, compared to how he treated me. And if this 30 minute rule is so strict at OTF, that should’ve been emphasized to me prior when I booked the class earlier in the day over the phone. If that rule was more seriously and directly emphasized, I would’ve prioritized getting there earlier to the best of my abilities. Due to how John talked to me on the phone, I did not even bother walking into the studio. It is really unfortunate and disappointing that I didn’t get to take the class, even though I was still 15 minutes early. I will remember this customer service treatment, I will not be recommending OTF to anyone nor attempt attending classes again.

⚠️ BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE PRACTICES ⚠️
What started as a decent experience quickly turned sour. OrangeTheory Fitness hides a cancellation fee in the fine print of their contracts—something their staff failed to mention when I signed up.
$100 to cancel!
After being a loyal member and even recommending OrangeTheory to others, I was blindsided by this predatory fee when I needed to cancel. It feels like a slap in the face for being a paying customer.
Their motto might be “Build Muscle. Burn Calories. Get Results,” but they should add: “And Get Fined for Canceling.” Grossly disappointing and a textbook example of a business prioritizing profit over integrity.
Think twice before joining!

Avoid this place!
Not only do they ask for your contact information, but they bombard you with calls—even after I’ve repeatedly asked to be removed from their list. I’ve moved out of Austin, yet the calls and voicemails keep coming, and no one seems capable of taking me off their list. It feels borderline illegal and is beyond frustrating.
Honestly, the workouts were not worth this constant harassment. If you value your peace of mind, steer clear of this location.

I am utterly disappointed and frustrated with my experience at Orangetheory Fitness. Initially, I was drawn in by the offer of a one-month trial membership, which seemed like a great opportunity to test their services.
However, the real trouble began when I attempted to cancel my membership a few days after the trial period had expired. Shockingly, I was informed that not only was I on the hook for the upcoming month due to their 30-day cancellation policy, but I also had to pay for an additional month because the cancellation period spanned over two billing cycles.
This felt like a deliberate attempt to trap me financially and lacked any sense of customer care or transparency. Their rigid policy, which effectively binds you unexpectedly to additional payments, is a severe drawback for anyone considering joining.
I would caution potential customers to steer clear unless they're ready to navigate a convoluted and punitive cancellation process that seems designed more for the company's benefit than for accommodating client needs.

This one’s about orange theory in general and not necessarily this location. Such an over rated and extremely over priced place ripping people off to make you run on treadmills and row lol. They even charge $5 for lending a heart rate monitor for one class, are you kidding me?? You are charging $100+ per month to use your treads and rowers and milking money off of bloody heart rate monitors? They constantly think about ways to milk money from their customers. Such a scam - stay away from this if you can. This is a pure rich man’s show overpaying to move your body on a treadmill.

Orange Theory on S. Lamar is a fantastic fitness studio! The coaches and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I look forward to my workouts each week with Coach Joelle and Coach Kalee - they keep the classes fun, motivating and challenging.
The equipment is always well-maintained and clean. Even when the classes are full, the studio never feels overcrowded.

I am disappointed in the way my contract cancellation was handled. I was overcharged despite signing a contract to reduce my rate for my final month. I reached out to the studio manager via phone and never heard back. When I followed up through email I was told my contract was missing. I had to send them my copy of the contract. Upon sending the contract, the studio manager promised me a refund for the overcharge. Almost a week has passed since I was promised this refund and not only have I not received it, I was over charged again today. I would not recommend this gym based on my experience with how my account was handled.

Visiting from the Reston, VA location — which is my new home studio.
Came here on the day after Christmas. Last visited: Dec’ 23.
Coach was Guin — I heard it as “Gwen”, but I think it’s pronounced with an “I” instead of the “E”.
Work out involved a series of all-out efforts with short rests in between, where we try to gasp for breath. I believe all-outs were varying lengths, from one minute, to half-minute, down to 15 seconds.
Oh by the way, I would be remiss to not mention — they have the brand new treadmills at this studio. Y’know, those super cool ones that go all the way up to 15 MPH? Yeah, those ones. They got them here at the South Lamar location, in Austin.
I pushed myself and actually achieved my new top speed for a 45-second sprint — 14.2 MPH — and top speed for a 30-second sprint — 14.5 MPH. The latter is the highest I’ve ever dared to go on the treadmill. My hopes are that sometime soon, I’ll be able to hit max speed (15 MPH) for a shorter all-out at the least.
Anyways, workout was super intense but due to incredibly pace of interval training, I believe i have upped my endurance as well as strength and power of my all-out efforts. Additionally my stock one-minute all out pace is now inching closer to the 14 MPH mark, which is pretty great. It shows that body (and legs) is adapting and getting more fit.
Coach (Guin) was pretty nice. Initially seemed indifferent, but definitely later offered me tips on floor exercises and also talked to me. They seemed impressed and also called me “Speed” at the end of workout, which was pretty flattering. Also, the funny thing is I have shoes with same name that I wear on race days, so I thought it was fitting overall.
Anyway, I thought coach and front desk were both amicable and friendly in general. Had good experience overall.
All in all, I enjoyed the work out, helped build my leg muscles and my endurance as well, and yes it was certainly physically and mentally exhausting, but you know what they say about the relationship between “pain” and “gain”.
Anyways, I enjoyed it here at the studio in South Lamar at the Austin, TX location.
Convenient times and location, in my case. I would recommend this studio, as overall my experience was positive.

Hidden Fees! I signed up for OTF for a good cardio workout but have been bombarded with hidden fees, poor customer service, a hard-to-reach front desk, and a policy that requires written notification to quit a gym membership! It's harder to get out of your OT membership than it is a Cult or a Lease!
Do not sign up with them as part of a New Year's resolution, they are trying to trap you with the $24 first month so they can hit you with fees later, and you will regret it as you try to leave. Pick any other gym around!
Try to cancel a morning class because you aren't feeling well, $15 fee you didn't give an 8-hour notice even though you have unlimited classes. Oh, but what happens if one of their coaches calls out of a class? Nothing you get told sorry and sent home! If already have a fitness watch but would like OTF to track your progress well buy their heart rate monitor band that only works for their app; if you forget it one morning don't worry you can rent one for $5 each class. Out of town and want to suspend your membership because there isn't an OTF within 45 minutes of you, you guessed it another hidden fee of $15 a month to suspend your account.
I had enough of the hidden fees and the poor customer service, I just wanted to join a gym with an upbeat vibe to work out with others and push myself a little harder than you do when you run alone, but I've had a poor experience with OTF. When I told them they weren't the gym for me I was told I had to come in person to provide a 30-day written notification that I was canceling my membership and that I would be billed another $150 for an additional month's membership because I'm canceling 4 days after my current month's $150 renewal. How ridiculous, 4 days after a monthly payment, it's not like I asked for that month's bill to be refunded, but instead they are also demanding I pay for an additional month of service that I do not want because of their predatory contract that puts their gym membership on the level of a rental lease.
Frankly, OTF's business plan isn't to help you get in shape by providing you with great workouts, it is to make money by charging you hidden fees, hoping you miss classes, buying their merchandise, and when you decide it's not a good fit charge you as much as they can on the way out! The workouts are just OK, and the Trainers are good, but Orange Theory as a business is horrible, they treat members like they are piggybanks instead of clients and members.
I just wanted to find a gym that I enjoy going to, but because the manager insists on locking me into 2 months of membership for $300 for a membership that I don't want. I just wanted to end my membership and walk away, but now I think it's important to share my experience with OTF hopefully you read my review and decide not to sign up for this or any Orange Theory fitness studio and instead use a different gym/fitness program where you give your money to a company that wants to earn your membership with quality service! Not a predatory gym that takes extra effort to lock you into a one-sided contract so they can hit you with hidden fees any chance they get! Zero stars for OTF customer satisfaction.

Dear Fitness Enthusiasts and Adventurers,
As the sizzling sun of summer reluctantly bids adieu, my better half and I embarked on a mini end-of-summer escapade to the eclectic heart of the Lone Star State – Austin, Texas. Amidst the vibrant streets and the undeniable rhythm of the city, we stumbled upon a fitness haven that left an indelible mark on our active souls – none other than Orange Theory Fitness-South Lamar.
Let's talk about the allure of Orange Theory Fitness and its magical ability to blend invigorating workouts with a touch of wanderlust. Picture this: we, two nomadic souls in pursuit of a fitness fix, found solace in the fact that Orange Theory Fitness's membership extends beyond borders. The notion that we could engage in pulse-pounding sessions while traversing different corners of the globe truly resonated with us – a fitness revolution with an elegant twist.
During our stay in Austin, we had the privilege of attending three sessions at the South Lamar outpost, each time greeted with enthusiasm by the dynamic Coaches Ally and James. Now, let me regale you with our experiences – an electric tango of cardio, strength, and a hint of friendly competition. Coach Ally's vivacious energy was nothing short of contagious, and her encouragement became our steadfast companion as we conquered each challenge. James, a maestro in his own right, guided us through a symphony of sweat and determination, making every rep count.
And let's not forget the logistical elegance that Orange Theory Fitness-South Lamar effortlessly boasts. Located in the heart of Austin, this hidden oasis of fitness delight is conveniently perched within a building equipped with ample parking – a rarity in the bustling urban landscape. Soaring stories above, a parking garage eagerly awaits, alleviating the vexing hunt for parking that often mars our fitness fervor.
A notable mention must be reserved for the pièce de résistance – the new treadmills that adorned the studio like prized jewels. With seamless tech integration and a smooth glide that promised to be kinder to our joints, these modern marvels played a pivotal role in elevating our workout experience to a whole new level of exhilaration.
Now, let's set the record straight – our discovery of Orange Theory Fitness was no serendipitous stumble. As seasoned members who frequent another Orange Theory outpost, our journey to South Lamar was a deliberate choice to explore and expand our fitness horizons. And oh, how richly rewarded we were!
As we depart Austin with a rejuvenated spirit and a zest for staying fit, we carry with us memories of exhilarating workouts, Coach Ally's motivating charisma, and the seamless elegance that is Orange Theory Fitness-South Lamar. We invite you, dear readers, to join us in our quest for vitality, wherever your adventures may take you.
Remember, life is meant to be lived in motion, and Orange Theory Fitness is your symphony of sweat and success.
Yours in fitness and joie de vivre,

I’ve been working out at OTF Sola for awhile and it is great! However my most recent 7:30 am workout was fine but the facility was dirtier than ever. Gyms are some of the dirtiest places and without proper cleaning are one of the first places to get sick or even a skin infection from contaminated surfaces. I am likely not going to return.

I had a freeze on my account. They informed me that if I freeze my account, my membership rates stay the same. However, they changed their notification methods and failed to tell me they were unfreezing my account. Furthermore, they continued to charge me at increased price.
Then, I officially signed the cancellation form, but they kept charging me even after 30 days from my legal cancellation agreement for few months. I called them multiple times, and they agreed to refund me every time, however, I saw no refunds but only recurring charges after. I had to involve my bank and dispute all the charges they made. It went through since they engaged in illegal activities. I recommend everybody to
1) Never freeze account with them and just cancel instead
2) They will keep charging you for months after you cancel. Dispute their recurring charges with your bank, so they will keep the record on the malpractice.
I liked the coaches who work there, but the business is nothing but unethical.

I had a freeze on my account last year during the worst of COVID. They changed their notification methods and failed to tell me they were unfreezing my account and going to start charging me again (I wasn't even living in Austin anymore). 7 months and $800 later, I realized this. They initially said they would give me a year for free and apologized for the 7 months of billing. I have tried to initiate the start of that year and they won't call or email me back. I know 3 other people this has happened to. Very unprofessional.

The classes and coaches at this location are great.
However, they charged my card erroneously, twice. I had to spend days and days persistently calling, texting and emailing to get my refund both times. The manager Jerad Stein was extremely rude and threatening. I repeatedly asked to speak to upper management so I could detach my card so this wouldn't happen again. The last time I asked in an email, this was his response:
"No you may not. And if you want my help to get you your refund, trying to usurp me isn't your best course."
It's unfortunate that his bad leadership and customer service skills lost them a customer forever. According to other reviews on this location, I am not the only one who has had fraudulent charges on their account.

This location accidentally charged me for 4 months when my account was supposed to be frozen. They admitted the mistake and said they'd correct it, but haven't. I have been in contact with them constantly since November to try to get this corrected and now their studio manager, Luis Becerra, has completely ghosted me since Feb 22. Four emails in a row completely unanswered by the staff or their studio manager. I finally contacted their corporate offices and they said there is nothing preventing this location from refunding me and are now opening an internal investigation into why I still haven't received my refund.

Bad Covid policy. When Orange Theory reopened they reactivated memberships without asking for an opt in or out. After calling to cancel and complain, OTF refused to refund and continued to bill for a following cycle (even though they assured they wouldn’t). I was extremely disappointed.
I’m a nurse. I work with COVID patients. It is better for everyone that I not be in class! If I became infected from work and was asymptomatic, I could easily make other class members sick. The risk is greater in a gym, as aerosolization increases with heavy breathing. I’m disappointed at OTF for being so unsupportive.
FTR, I come by this paranoia honestly: I know someone who contracted COVID at Orange Theory Circle C. (Not trying to trash talk, but people should know their own risk.) She was notified that a person in class had tested positive; a few days later she developed symptoms and tested positive. She is friends with other class members, and learned that several others also got sick and tested positive.

Charged me the freeze fee after CLEARLY STATING that during covid its waived. We are in the middle of pandemic and they clearly say pandemic concessions were cancelled on sept 14th. I am ashamed to be even associated with UNETHICAL studio like this for the next month but they have a 30 day cancellation notice or otherwise I will be charged freeze fee for ever month to month and I am billed for 1 more month which is 159 dollars.
Please go join HEAT bootcamp, Todds Pilates, Madabolics or any of the great local Austin ones for the fraction of the price who honor their words, have great instructors and support local business instead of falling prey to a chain.(To my defense I never fell prey for them, but I was CHEATED)
They clearly donot know how to do business. They dont understand that people of this generation care about who you associate yourself with. Its not about the additional 100 calories you burn but it is what you stand for.
Edit: This review is strictly on the new head Luis Becerra and not on any of the hard working coaches who do a great job

Do not join this location. Terrible customer service and management. I've had to cancel my membership due to COVID and being high risk. Luis Becerra, the manager, cancelled my membership for me, which was on a freeze for several months as I was trying to wait out the pandemic, and immediately processed an extra payment, then refused to refund this additional payment. It's terrible that they would resort to this kind of practice to squeeze out extra funds from cancelling members. I'm reporting them to the BBB.

Least organized studio I’ve been to yet out of 15+ around the world. I showed up and they couldn’t connect my profile up... didn’t have my credit card on file even though every other studio gets it imported directly from the app... even had to walk out of class to let them know I wasn’t on the board. When my monitor finally did show up, it was under a different name than normal. Normally that’s all normal drama when going to a new studio, but I didn’t get any stats after the workout either... and when I called to see if they could check out what was up, Morgan yelled at me (literally) and told me it was my home studio’s problem! “My email address in the system was incorrect and CLEARLY it’s not her problem since she didn’t create my account”. Given that I haven’t been to my home studio in months and everything has worked fine at the last 5+ studios I’ve been to (including at the downtown Austin studio yesterday)... sorry Morgan, it’s your fault not mine. Horrible experience, will not be coming back. Downtown ATX was great, go there instead!!

Great place, great members, the weird change in coaching has me confused. Some of the two best coaches (Sebastian and Montana) have been some how “removed” from south Lamar. My form was never better with Sebastian and I always pushed myself to new PRs with Montana’s motivation.

I started Orangtheory Fitness because I wanted to take the next step in achieving my health and wellness goals. I had been to other bootcamps around Austin but I always felt displaced, uncomfortable and ultimately unsatisfied.
I signed up the same day after going to one demo class at Orangetheory South Lamar and my over 200 classes are a testament that I haven’t looked back since. The emphasis on community and growth is unmatched. I have had coaches, sales associates, managers and owners genuinely interested in me and my progress.
Because of Orangetheory, I was able to surpass the goals I had set for myself and have made some amazing friends along the way. Coaches and staff come and go but the love, respect and the emphasis on improvement has made joining Orangetheory is such a worthwhile investment.

Caty, Stephen and Jenn push me the hardest. Great for HIIT training to mix it up while training for triathlons. You can push yourself as hard as you want so I like to add movements to the ones they provide to hit it a little harder. Highly recommend!!

I’ve been going to OTF at south lamar for over two years now. The workout is really what you make of it, you can push yourself as hard or as little as you want that day. You can ask the coaches for helps or tips or any correction with form if you want that attention or just kinda go through the work out on your own. I love it. I need a class atmosphere to actually make myself work out and do more than simply run on a treadmill so this is perfect for me. I’ve lost weight and toned up from it. The staff at the front desk is friendly and all the coaches are nice and knowledgeable. There is a quite a bit of turnover which I hate to see cause I like the everyone-knows-your-name kinda feeling at the gym.

I love Orangetheory! I started as a member in June 2017 and it quickly became my favorite workout. It's the only program I've been able to stick to over the years. Every workout is different and they'll always keep you sore. The trainers and the staff are great. This location is pretty popular, so you usually have to book peak hours well in advance. Free parking is readily available in the garage attached. Don't forget your water bottle and towel!

I joined Orange Theory South Lamar October 2017. The coaches are so supportive and knowledgeable and the staff is so friendly and helpful! I look forward to coming in several times a week! I definitely would recommend it! It is a great workout for those just getting started with an exercise routine and those who are looking to increase their strength and performance. As an endurance runner, I was looking for something to supplement my runs. OTF has been great for me! I have gotten stronger, leaner and faster!

Good thing I look at my bank account frequently - I was mischarged 4 times for no-show/late cancel when I cancelled way before the cut off. I was refunded for all mischarges weeks later after multiple calls/screenshot of my bank account. The manager was very apologetic but this issue was inexcusable and I wouldn’t have been aware unless I found it...I’m sure this is happening/happened to others.

Great OTF location. We were visiting from Canada and needed to use one of our monthly workouts before the end of February while on vacation. This location was happy to accommodate us, even though they had some difficulty confirming our membership in the OTF computer system. They didn't give us any trouble at all and were super helpful and friendly. A great workout, and fun to see the slight differences in style and layout from our home gym.

I like the fast paced, motivating workout and the energy of the coaches (Aaron), class and music. Having a heart rate monitor and earning Splat Points makes the workout fun, engaging and helps me push myself harder. I also love that every class is different so it doesn't get boring. I echo the other posters comment about "no buddy workouts"!
I would prefer if you could sign up for your starting position (rowing, treadmill, weights) online. Everyone racing for the treadmills creates a stampede effect at the beginning of each class. Otherwise I would have given it a 10 :)

It's challenging enough but not impossible. I like the variety of the workout I get and being able to know exactly how many calories I'm burning. I also think you're able to adapt the workout to whatever current physical level you are at by adjusting weight sizes and what speed you want to go at on the treadmill. 10/10!
