Orangetheory is great if you want to guarantee yourself a spot and have coaches to motivate you and ensure you’re doing the exercises correctly! All the trainers and front desk workers have been very nice and would highly recommend this gym!

Years ago, I was told I could no longer take Orangetheory classes in the Houston region. This decision was based entirely on what one regional staff member said after I privately expressed that I felt unfairly treated when I left the company. I was never given a chance to explain my side or clarify what actually happened.
The person who called to inform me of the ban even mentioned that the decision was based on what that one regional had said — without hearing from me directly. Since then, I’ve made multiple attempts to respectfully ask for reconsideration. I recently reached out again, hoping that with time and context, the situation could be re-evaluated. Instead, I received a vague response citing “past incidents” with no specifics or opportunity to discuss further.
It’s disappointing that a brand built on community and wellness would treat a former employee and long-time supporter this way, especially over a situation that should have warranted a conversation — not a permanent ban. I’m sharing this in hopes that Orangetheory takes a closer look at how conflicts like this are handled and gives people a fair voice in their own story.

took one free class on april 25 and signed up for membership. had a financial strain come up so tried to cancel next day, april 26. they didn’t pick my calls, reply to my emails, and today, april 27, i showed up in person to be told they’ll be charging me for TWO months :) cos i signed up in april :) so they’ll be charging me for a full april and full may cos “it’s a two month commitment” :)
gyms are worse than loan sharks when it comes to scams :)

I didn’t have the greatest first impression of Orangetheory when I initially tried it out — there was a bit of a misunderstanding that left me feeling like it wasn’t the right fit. But recently I decided to give it another try, and I’m really glad I did. The workout I just had was genuinely solid — challenging in the best way, and I left feeling like I actually accomplished something. The energy in the room was great, and the coaches and staff were super encouraging without being over the top. It just felt like a good environment to push yourself in. I can honestly say my opinion has completely turned around, and I’d definitely recommend giving this place a shot — especially if you’re looking for a workout that keeps you motivated and moving the whole time.

They took my free trial away from me.
I told them I was looking for somewhere to attend regularly when I come to Houston every month. That was not sufficient considering I'm not a resident. I was told I would have to pay for my trial class instead, despite saying I wanted to buy a class pack and return 1-2 weeks/month if it went well.
I felt like I was not treated warmly or like any other member of the gym.
Go to another gym, there's plenty. The F45n nearby was very warm and welcome.

For 4:15 class I entered at 4:19 but they still didn’t let me in. Even though they have 5 mins policy. They don’t care about the policy and do what ever they feel for the day. Pathetic!!! Absolutely. Wish I could give 0 stars.

DONT SIGN UP WITH THEM! YOURE JUST A NUMBER TO THEM, I cancelled my membership in person in April of 2023 signed my paperwork and all and didn’t realize they were still billing me until today! I called them to get it stopped and request a refund for all the months as I have not even been to the location, booked or had any affiliation with them since April of 2023 you would think they’d reach out see what’s going on why I haven’t booked but nope as long as they’re getting paid they could care less. Rachel the manager told me they changed management and employees since the time I canceled so I’m assuming something happened with that transition but that’s not the customers problem. I will make sure to never recommend them and speak bad about them every chance I get.
UPDATE: as y’all can see they responded with an auto reply to this review but have yet to reach back out to me via phone and actually have been hanging up on me when I call asking for Ernesto the regional manager. I will be taking the next steps as they really just robbed me out of $800.

I made several calls to check for availability, and the booking process. They had a morning class available with only a few attendees, I arrived 15 minutes early only to be turned away. It was my first time at Orange Theory, and while the woman at the front desk wasn't welcoming, Nicholas was exceptionally pleasant. Unfortunately, the communication at this studio is lacking, and I feel like I wasted my time driving there without being able to book the class. I may not return, but I appreciate Nicholas's excellent service.

In my opinion, OTF has geared its policies toward maximizing the cost to the member and has lost sight of what a good customer experience should look like. Having been a member for approximately five years, it has been my perception that the member experience has taken a back seat to maximizing opportunities for revenue. It's tempting to say that I feel increasingly "nickled and dimed" by OTF, but it's more nuanced than that and is manifest in a number of ways (including the nearly constant staff and coaching turnover, cost for promotions (i.e. Hell Week) that seem to be designed to maximize class use for the purpose of compelling a membership upgrade, and unreasonable charges for amenities like the use of Inbody in studios that have it)).
This review would be lacking without mention of their "Hotel California" cancellation policy. When my college daughter moved to another state and could no longer regularly use her membership, I paid the required $15/month to freeze her membership, during which time she could (understandably) not take any classes. I paid this fee for several months, until it became apparent that she just wasn't able to use the membership and we needed to cancel. When I asked to cancel the membership, I was told that I would have to pay the fee one more time. I understood this to mean the $15 monthly fee. Wrong. I was dismayed to learn that I was required to pay for another full month's membership fee of $169 to cancel the membership. This felt like something between usury and theft, but is also emblematic of OTF's treatment of its customers and I guess it shouldn't have been too surprising. Read the fine print before you sign up with them!! (As an aside, our household currently pays for three unlimited memberships).
On a positive note, the folks who work the front desk and coach the classes are generally pretty fantastic. This review is expressly NOT about the personnel who are in the studio on a daily basis. They do a terrific job of welcoming the members, troubleshooting equipment, assigning stations, coaching, etc. I'm sure they are beleaguered by having to enforce the policies and directives of ownership (this review expressly DOES pertain to them). Just don't get too accustomed to seeing the studio employees, as they likely won't be there for long. (I have wondered whether the the transient nature of the OTF employees at my home studio is related to keeping staffing hours low enough for ownership to minimize their obligation to pay benefits?)
In short, I believe their are better choices out there for the fitness consumer. Perhaps OTF ownership should go peruse Carl Sewell's book, Customers for Life and take a page from that playbook . . . .

I love Orange Theory and especially this studio. The coaches are fun and motivating. I am a runner and the treadmill portion of the class is my favorite but the different paces/speeds to the run challenge me in ways I wouldn’t normally do on my own. I’ve never been very motivated to do strength workouts, so Orange Theory has been a huge help in teaching me how to work out with weights and to actually like it! The combo of all of it has helped me improve my running/marathons and that is huge for me! 🧡

The staff was very friendly and welcoming during my first class. I was shown around and walked through how the workout would progress. The instructions were clear but there is a lot going on so you must pay attention. The workout itself was intense and satisfying. Can't wait for the next class. Edited: about 2 years later and I still enjoy the classes and go more frequently now. I’ve seen improvements in my endurance and muscle tone and I’ve lost some weight. Hope I can keep up this routine.

My husband and I are coming back to working out after awhile of being relatively sedentary. We appreciated the individual attention given to us by the coach and all the staff, and the ability to go at our own pace. This workout can be tailored to our needs as well as to the needs of someone 30 years younger. We felt very welcomed and encouraged by everyone!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! Beware of this business. Jasmine and the studio manager don't know how to conduct simple business and refund customers when they haven't used the membership. This gym isn't worth the time and money based on the horrible experience I had with management

Do not get a membership here. My husband and I were lied to and provided false information about membership costs. We were disrespected by the assistant manager Jasmine. We originally worked with a representative named Ruth who had advised us of a single charge for members of the same household. She clearly stated this when we came to the facility in person. Later when I decided to call back to sign up, I spoke to Hudson who confirmed this information. Once I had signed up, I noticed two charges for my husband and I, which isn't what I had agreed to. When I called the assistant manager Jasmine, she said that we would both be charged seperately and she wouldn't be able to cancel our membership, even though we had not used any classes that we had paid for or picked up the heart rate monitors yet. When we asked Jasmine if she spoke to the representatives, she initially said no but then changed her story and said she did speak to them. She also said she pulled the call to listen to the recording, but clearly did not as she would have heard the staff telling me that we would have been charged once only. This is considered fraudulent and predatory practices. I recommend everyone to turn away from this business and instead use an alternative gym option.

I love OTF, and many of my friends. One of my out of town friends wanted to experience OTF for the first time and wanted to accompany a friend of mine who already uses this studio. I encouraged the out of town friend to try them. After all - they may like it and sign up in their home town.
Nonetheless, the studio denied the free intro class, and the studio manager REFUSED to explain the guest policy and delegated to the front desk clerk to refuse entry to my out of town friend.
In the end, we understand guest workouts may be limited to "local residents" of the studio, but for the studio manager to flat out REFUSE to talk to the friend and delegate to an employe to handle the "dirty work" was very unprofessional and ultimately left a sour taste in my local friend and out of town friend. Now, my friend who DOES go to OTF regularly is considering cancelling her membership because of the dismal customer service.
My local OTF studio would never treat guests, "local" or not with this level of disrespect. At the premium price of OTF monthly, you'd think they'd welcome everyone but in the end, they left a negative impression for a prospective member - even if they "aren't local" and will likely result in a lost membership of the studio as well. I am disgusted and this doesn't make me want to visit this local OTF the next time I am in town either, as I have my own membership. I am nothing short of DISGUSTED as how this interaction was handled.
We will continue to warn others of the dismal customer service of this studio - even the manager. Very disgusted.

Warning! Awful customer service. They refuse to give you corporate number. They also force under age kids to have own app set up on their own phone. Bs allowing parents to book from their app like soul cycle and any other gym does. My young teen accidentally hit wrong button and they refused to correct the purchase. They sounded overjoyed on phone and laughed at the situation. “Yay- more $ for us!” “Tough luck!” I’m disgusted we have to go here and finish out our classes. I’ll be upset every time. Awful experience and ridiculous to force a child to handle transactions.

Orange theory has a great methodology on fitness, however, one instructor at the Bellaire location named Abby, questioned why I was not able to perform on the rowing portion of the workout routine. First of all if I'm paying a membership fee you should not question my physical ability to perform, when I told her I was not able to do any upper body due to an injury. She questioned, rather interrogated me as though I was not being truthful. I mentioned to her I was under doctor's care. Then she asked if I had a doctors note. I looked at her with dismay, you don't need to know all that because it impedes on my privacy. I left the class after the cardio portion was over and mentioned to the front desk that the way the instructor addressed me was offensive and out if line.
Why do I NEED TO PROVE THAT I'M UNDER A DOCTORS CARE for not participating in the other routine portion of the workout? The front desk said it was asked because "people just don't want to do the rowing workout portion". That was not the case, is what I told them. I had someone note my acct previously so that I would only be doing the cardio portion due to the injury and the acct was notated. I was still asked to bring my doctors note next time.
I was appalled at their response so I left. I have never been a part of any gym or a group class that has this type of restriction. Never was I told that there was such a policy in place. Whoever is the owner should absolutely train their employees more professionally and non passive aggressive attitude!
Furthermore it's nothing but inexperienced kids that are running the front desk. "NEVER AGAIN WILL I BE A MEMBER OF ORANGE THEORY"!
Very DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER.

The business model of this gym takes away the fun and joy I find in working out.
- They charge surprise fees for everything.
- Unable to reschedule, unless 8 hrs in advance
- Must buy a heart monitor. I already have a smart watch, there is no need for me to get another monitor.
- Tedious circuits.
There are plenty other GYM's in town that offer more options and flexibility for the same price.

Horrible customer service. A friend and I had schedule to come try their 930am class for the first time, we were parking at 903 and walked in by 905. They had called me while I was parking and said we need to reschedule because we weren’t there at 9 and I told them we are literally in the parking lot walking in so they said okay come in let’s see what we can do. Immediately as we walked in the girl at reception said we’re gonna need you to reschedule to a different class. There was only one other person there for this “orientation” and they were barely filling out their name. I told them we can just fill out the paperwork quickly since this person is barely just began filling out their paperwork and she kept saying well she came in at 9 but y’all didn’t blah blah blah. My best friend has tried OTF before and she said her location wasn’t that strict and the orientation ended with 10-15mins to spare before the class. I think it’s just this location that is annoying and difficult. Well they lost 2 potential members today!

I am a big fan of Orange Theory. I have been to this specific studio on many occasions while traveling to Houston. I happen to also be on their social media. Today, I was very disappointed in their customer service style. I booked a class for 10:45 am and I couldn’t make it so i rescheduled for 12. Not only did I check in at 12 with them but they decided to charge me a late fee for BOTH classes. Most normal studios would have wiped that first change and not charged me a second time for no reason. They need to work on their customer service. This is one unhappy customer. I will be not coming back to this location.

I like that the workout changes every day. I like the attention that coaches give to each individual in the class. I like that I can choose to lift heavier, run faster, row harder or dial it down as per the needs of my body. Finally, I like having other members in the class who are doing the same exercise, which motivates you to push harder when you are about to quit.

Absolutely horrible first impression. I joined OTF Vintage location and they were wonderful! My first session I tried out the heart rate monitor that goes around your chest. I was offered to try the one around the arm for my second session before I spent the $100 or so for the monitor. ... that’s excellent customer service!
Unfortunately, I could not reserve a class for the next day I could work out at Vintage so I chose the Belair location close to my work. When I reserved the class, I received more than one call asking me to come try a class... when I told them I was a new member, I had signed up at another location, it would be my second class that I reserved at their location and I would like to try the arm monitor this class before I purchased a monitor... I was told they “cannot do that.” When I asked why they would not allow me to try out the arm monitor since they allow first timers to try out a monitor, the associate said she would ask her manager and call me back. A few minutes later she called me back with the response ... “we only lend them to our members who forget their’s. We cannot do that.” I cancelled my second class which was going to be at their location since I was not going to purchase a monitor until I had tried each one. The associate was not rude, she was just very unhelpful. It’s sad since this location is next to my work and could have been a good back up. This also would’ve been an appropriate issue for the manager to have addressed. Instead she sent a message through the associate. Very poor experience and I haven’t even walked in their doors.

I love this workout routine. It's been really hard for me to get motivated and start working out, but Orangetheory and it's trainers and staff make it really easy to stick with it. Thank you.

Fun workout program. Interval. Instructors are nice, they motivate without degrading. Classes fill up too quickly though, you have to sign up far in advance.

Super friendly staff and Kelsea is a great coach. If you are new to orange theory you do need to show up by the 30 minutes early for your first time but I don't see that as an issue like a few other reviews. It is fun and keeps me motivated and working out. Only catch is that you do need a good coach because I have had a bad one that I regretted attending.

This location is fairly ridiculous about its adherence to rules. When I signed up, they informed me that there is an 8-hour cancellation policy. If I was to have any problems, just call them to see if anything could be worked out. Last week, I had signed up for a late evening class that is usually fairly empty. Some circumstances changed, so I called to see if I could move into an earlier class that was also pretty empty. I was informed that I would be penalized for the late change.
I went to the studio to explain that I am not bailing. I simply want to attend an earlier class, and they persisted that they are going to strictly enforce all policies because they want to avoid people who double-book. I implored them one more time to use common sense and that I clearly have not double-booked. I simply want to move from one empty class to another. No luck.
I have high hopes for this studio and look forward to them realizing that there are many alternative options out there. I have talked to many OTF customers who explain that other studios use common sense and have the ability to discern double-bookers from legitimate requests. I am optimistic that this location will figure it out, or I fear it will not last long.

I’m a member of Orange Theory in Dallas and I came to this location with my boyfriend who would have been a first time visitor. We were running a little behind trying to make it to a 9:30am class. At 9:05am, while pulling into the lot, we get a call from a representative named Clint saying that we would need to reschedule. While we tried to explain we were meeting a large group for a fun, family workout (around 10 people), he insisted that we reschedule. While still on the phone with him, we walked into the studio at 9:07am, and he still would not let us join the class, stating we didn’t have time to go through OTF’s “orientation”. What’s so disappointing is that we saw other members of our group sitting around for several minutes waiting to go through the “orientation”, discrediting the claim that so-called “orientation” lasted the full 30 min. Even worse is that I’ve gone through a similar experience with other friends and OTF has been more than accommodating. That said, Clint refused to help us, even though there was a full 23 min until class started, and no one else at the studio seemed to mind. I’m not sure if it was a discriminatory act against my boyfriend and I, but it did leave us all feeling disappointed and angry at the studio. I’m not sure I will continue my membership, however I definitely do not recommend this specific studio.
