I had an excellent experience with my myofascial release massage with Jacob! It was my first MFR massage and Jacob took time to understand my problem areas before starting. The session was both relaxing and effective — I could actually feel movement in tight muscle groups as they relaxed and had noticeable improvement in my flexibility and pain relief right away. Highly recommend Jacob to anyone looking for real results and a caring, knowledgeable therapist!

I started coming here after an accident. I’d had surgery and physical therapy, but I was still in pain that was increasing as time went on. The Pilates Center of Austin is more than Pilates, it is a place for physical healing and professional support. They focus on your personal needs to recover, strengthen and build a better understanding of your body and how to care for it.
Because it is a small space, you don’t feel overwhelmed and they only hold one-on-one sessions or small group classes. This adds to the focused care that is needed to heal and grow.
They have recently added myofascial release (MFR) to the Center. I have had several sessions with Jacob, who offers a therapeutic MFR…I won’t return to the former MFR work I’ve had that was painful. I’ve learned it doesn’t have to be painful to work and, in fact, I am increasing my flexibility while decreasing my pain with Jacob’s sessions.
I have made my weekly sessions a priority and continue to see pain improvement as well as overall body strength that my routine gym and yoga workouts don’t provide.
As a standalone exercise or a compliment to your existing program, this is a place that will teach you more about your body’s unique structure and how best to care for it. Besides, they have a yoga wall and fabulous small classes. What a wonderful way to stay strong and healthy that truly helps with combating the body’s aging process.

I’ve been a client of PCA for many years and I love their classes and instructors. I just added in some Myofascial Release (MFR) sessions with Jacob and I can feel my body changing with that addition. Between the classes and MFR my posture is so much better and my back pain is gone. Thanks for keeping me strong, PCA!

I’ve experienced chronic pain my whole life. “Working out should be unpleasant” is something I had come to terms with. Working with the folks at Pilates Center of Austin has proven to me that working out really can be pleasant! Every instructor I’ve worked with has really listened to my needs and helped me workout in a way that isn’t so painful, and also relieves my day-to-day pain. Each instructor I’ve worked with has been amazing and has a unique style, but the common factor between each is that they all have been great at hearing what I have to say, watching me work, identifying where I’m struggling or even hurting, and finding ways to help me. I’ve had a really great time here and I look forward to continuing to feel better every day!

I started coming here about 6 months post partum to rebuild my core after a c section. Marcos is a gifted and caring instructor and program director. More than just my core has been addressed - a whole body transformation in an accessible and safe, yet surprisingly fast manner. I highly recommend the basics and essentials classes for detailed instruction - moreso than most reformer studios provide. The yoga wall class is also fun and a unique way to both extend your body and help with getting comfortable with being upside down or suspended.
I am greatful for the time and care I've received in the studio and in particular from Marcos who has a unique blend of training beyond pilates. Highly recommend for anyone new to pilates, pre-natal or post-partum, and I'm sure post surgery/injury as well. It's a safe space to rebuild!

Pilates Center of Austin is a great studio! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, encouraging and tailor the exercises to meet my specific goals and capabilities. The studio is calm and relaxed and the equipment is cleaned after every use. Marcos and Kim are wonderful! I can't believe the improvement in my strength and flexibility after only 6 months. They really *LISTEN* to what is important to me and make sure to accommodate my medical issues. I'm still amazed at how good I feel after every session!!

After surgeries and radiation therapy left me with considerable scar tissue and mobility impairments, I was looking for a pilates practice that would help me regain lost strength without injuring myself. A friend recommended Pilates Center of Austin, and I'm so glad I gave it a try. I've worked with many of their dynamic, well trained instructors, and I continue to learn how to safely move my body as I gain strength every week.

If you are looking for a traditional Pilates studio, this is the one to go to. The personal attention you get is rarely found in other studios. There are people of all ages that take classes here and it is very cool to see all the tough old ladies & guys keeping bodies in shape! I highly recommend this studio!

If you are in the vicinity of Austin,Texas, I would advise you to RUN, not walk to the Pilates Center of Austin. Marcos Apodaga is the owner of this center and teaches several classes ranging from a foam roller class to a regular Pilates class to the fascinating and wild Yoga Wall class! He is the most amazing teacher, guide, guru of muscle and body relationships that I have ever met.
Marcos guides each student through the class, watching for any difficulty you might be having and accommodating the exercise to work for you personally, without overly straining a body part that might need some extra care or attention. He is so encouraging and always makes each participant feel special and lets you know he is always looking out for you to get the most out of each exercise.
I can’t speak more highly of Marcos as a teacher and owner of this facility. I know he’s teaching the other teachers at the Center to have this same technique, which is so appreciated by all the students. It’s a special place and you will be treated as an individual and not just “another body in the shop”.
Thank you Marcos for your time, care and diligence! All your students truly love you!

I have been going to PCA for a few weeks and have already seen a huge change in my body! My pain level is going down and my mobility is increasing after each class. Marcos is super attentive and pays attention to each student giving specific instructions for their unique situation and body/injury.
The combination of yoga wall + Pilates class is such a good remedy to healing lifelong injuries.
Looking forward to continuing my practice here!

I heard about the “yoga wall” from my current Pilates instructors and it peaked my interest. I have very dominant hip flexors, a tight lower back and tightness throughout my body which becomes more evident as I progress in my Pilates practice. As of today, I’ve completed 2 sessions with Marcos and can already feel and see the benefits especially, the movement in my lower back. The deep traction has allowed me access for movement/release of these tight muscles which ultimately benefits my everyday movement and further my growth in my practice with more ease and grace! Thank you Marcos, for your wisdom and guidance!! This is a class I would highly recommend to friends/family.

I love the online Wednesday Cardio Mat class! I feel the benefits of this class throughout the week in my other workouts and in day to day life.
After many pregnancies, I have abdominal separation and weakness, but I am stronger every week. I feel my abdominals coming together. My posture has improved and when I hold my 1 year old my back doesn’t hurt.
Full disclosure, my husband teaches this class, I’m thankful I finally get to be one of his students. One of the benefits of the pandemic was that the PCA began offering online classes. As a homeschool mom I can fit this in to the middle of my day.

I just have to share how much I loved this last class and how much I am learning from you.
As you know, I have been a fan of fascial dogs since I somehow found you on line several years ago. I’ve been doing them, deconstructing them on my own and learning something new every time.
However, the precision with which you broke down the 3 phases & the sensory cues took me to a whole new level of understanding my own holding patterns and what becomes available when I release more and more into trusting my relationship with gravity is an experience that also lifts (and therefore frees) me.
As someone who experienced trauma at a very young age, allowing the pelvic floor to transfer the force to lift me up vs. navel to the spine as a way to ‘manage' my tissues’ issues is a revelation.
Just goes to show what you can know intellectually but never realize in your deep fascia until that memory surfaces- but the bio intelligence remembers it’s pre-trauma wisdom!
Thank you so very much! I am deeply grateful to know you and receive your wisdom.

My experience at PCA was so wonderful. I had the opportunity to take classes with several instructors there when I was in Austin for a week in addition to training with the wise Wendy Leblanc Arbuckle. Anyone who is in the area who wants to do Pilates should visit PCA. It is a beautiful, warm and inspiring place to get strong! If I lived there it would be my go to for private sessions and classes.

The biggest silver lining of the pandemic for me is that I’ve been back taking classes with Pilates Center of Austin (PCA) since early May 2020. Wonderful studio. Wonderful teachers. It’s been a blessing to me physically and mentally, both in Zoom classes and now some in the studio, too.
PCA had been a significant part of my life and my health since 2006, but a year and a half after moving across town in late 2014 I realized that my demanding work schedule and the additional distance was making it almost impossible to get to classes, so I found a Pilates studio within walking distance of my new home. I knew the teaching wasn’t at the same level, but I could mentally bring my PCA training into my new classes, and the distance meant I could get to 3 classes a week.
When Covid changes shut down the live classes, I tried my new studio’s Facebook Live and Zoom classes. They were better than my trying to do things on my own, but I could tell it wasn’t ideal for me. As an experiment, I signed up for a few Zoom classes with PCA. Wow! It was such a difference to have teachers who really believe how much can be accomplished without machines, and who have thought a lot about how to do it well. It was great to be back with teachers who understand the importance of the mental part of Pilates ─ whose oral cues can help me turn any movement into a much more intense/productive/effective movement. Being back at PCA has helped me learn things that have transformed how I walk and move away from class. I couldn’t ask for more.

This endorsement of Marcos at Pilates Center of Austin is going to sound like he paid me to write this, but he didn’t. I’m over 70 and have a variety of physical constraints after having had both knees and both hips replaced, as well as having had two laminectomies on my back. Some of the most challenging constraints began when one of the hip replacements was done incorrectly and had to be re-done, with lingering damage. My wife gave me a series of sessions with Marcos as a Christmas present. I thought I’d probably benefit a little bit from them. I was wrong in a good way: the sessions have been game changers. Marcos’s deep knowledge of the human body enables him to be incredibly insightful in his understanding of my particular weaknesses and what we can do in our sessions to help me improve. He is extraordinarily adept at configuring myriad creative equipment combinations that have helped me strengthen, and lengthen, and become more connected and grounded in my body. I continue to marvel at how much better and stronger I am after every session with Marcos. Because of the amazing progress I have made, I have recently been able to reduce the number of deep tissue massages I need to have. I will continue to see Marcos on a weekly basis until one of us leaves town or kicks the bucket.

I am so much stronger and healthier now then I was a few years ago when I first walked in the door of the Pilates Center of Austin. Their trainers are in a whole different league than what you can find at most gyms, and working with them has been one of the smartest investments I’ve ever made. No matter how stressed out I might be when I arrive, I always feel more grounded and centered when I leave.
A massage therapist was the one who referred me to them after recommending I build core strength to help ease tension in my neck but I’d been unable to ever figure out that sort of thing on my own or in large classes (I was the kid who got great grades in high school but nearly failed PE). I was relieved to find a small studio with clients of all ages, shapes, and sizes taken care of by epically patient trainers who were willing and able to work with me where my body was instead of pressuring me to look like an unattainable ideal.
Their diligence with covid-prevention precautions makes me feel safe: 100% mask wearing, thorough cleanings between clients as well as HEPA filters and good ventilation.
Over time I’ve developed fantastic posture and so much more flexibility and range of motion in my joints, not to mention a much stronger mind/body connection. At one point I’d assumed that once I hit middle age the best I could do was slow the decline, but now I’m in the best shape of my life and I couldn’t have done it without them!

I go in every Saturday for an hour with Marcos, the senior teacher at the Pilates Center of Austin. I initially sought him out after years of dealing with insoluble back pain / discomfort through yoga, physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, etc. As a lifelong desk-bound nerd who took up a rigorous daily yoga practice seven years ago, I had long since reached my proprioceptive limits in paying proper attention to form. I leave each session with Marcos feeling more connected to my body in new ways and for this reason alone I would recommend him. Despite having a difficult time keeping up with the exercises throughout the week, I have noticed considerable improvements in my posture and movement. Rates are reasonable, and the dedicated attention you'll receive from the teacher of Pilates teachers could scarcely be replicated elsewhere.

The Pilates Center of Austin is the BEST place for learning about your body. Every body, every day is different. We are encouraged to "do what is available today" as we gently wake our bodies up...reminding us of what core support feels like. I love how the early warm up prepares me for the exercise that many Pilates places just jump into and flow without preparing and finding that base and core connection....the embodied approach... I get it now.
I'm in my 60s (as are many of my exercise friends) so don't let that keep you away...in fact, you need to run to this place. You will decompress your back and joints, gain strength, flexibility, movement in your ribs, get those knees lubricated, be able to get up off the floor, and so much more.
Finally, all of the instructors are excellent body workers. They always suggest ways to adapt each exercise to reduce stress on other parts of your body (imagine sit ups/roll overs with no neck strain because you are learning to ground your hips and legs into the floor to gently bring your body up and over. Some days we use hand weights or a stretchy band to help get up...the emphasis is to experience the connection of our arms and legs in their sockets and then to our spine and core). It is slow, meditative, and feels so wonderful.
The studio is ALWAYS very clean. Even pre-Covid....no problem ever of walking around barefoot...every thing smelled good, equipment in good, clean shape... no cooties!
Thanks to all the staff at the Pilates Center of Austin. You are the best!

I have been taking classes & private sessions at PCA for 12 years, & the experience has been transformative for me. The facilities are excellent & the staff very professional & personable. The transition to mostly Zoom classes and sessions earlier this year was quite smooth and effective. But the ultimate proof is in my increased strength, posture, flexibility & my successful healing from several injuries.

I began taking Pilates at Pilates Center of Austin after a few weeks of uncomfortable back pain, which I have dealt with off-and-on for years. I began with Ivy, who was amazing. She combines her excellent training with all kinds of great examples that really help me to visualize the smallest adjustments to make the most of my work.
I felt so much better than I had in years, so I began taking classes 2x a week, during which time, I was able to meet and experience several different teachers. All of them were strong teachers in different ways. I felt so great, that for Christmas, I gave a set of classes to my husband, along with a pair of Pilates socks. Ha. Let's just say that this was not on his wish list. :-) But after one class, he was hooked. And we have been taking classes together ever since.
Then when the pandemic hit, PCA turned on a dime, and in no time began to offer virtual classes. And we LOVE them. Because they work even better for our work schedules, we were able to sign up for 3x a week. We take one at 9am, one at 7am, and one at noon. We take classes from 3 different teachers, Ivy, Pia and Marcos, and each is excellent in a different way. So we feel like we are receiving a well-rounded movement regimen every week. We feel healthier, stronger ... and taller!

Please don't come. I can't believe there are not 10,000 5 star reviews, but honestly I don't want more people to come. It is a small, intimate studio and the classes fill up fast. Maybe other people are as selfish as me so they skipped leaving a review. PS Marcos is amazing!! This version of pilates has been life changing for my husband and myself.

They were offering a discounted class for first time visitors at a neighborhood event and I quickly jumped on the opportunity to check it out.
The Pilates Center of Austin is very welcoming. Even though it was my first time taking a class there everyone was very friendly and accommodating. They keep the class sizes small and really work with you at your level. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient.
I only wish I could afford to go consistently. If you can, it is absolutely worth checking out.

The best pilates center in the Austin area. I went for a while in high school as a baseball pitcher, and they helped me fix my spinal issues AND increase the velocity of my fastball.
Extremely knowledgable teachers (especially Wendy, the founder) with a very laid back and fun atmosphere. At the PCA it's not just about reps and workouts, but learning how to communicate and live better within your own body. It's rewarding, both physically and mentally, and I'd highly recommend the center to everyone of all ages.
