I had back surgery and needed Pilates to help me understand how to hold/move my body and build strength that I had lost. I was looking for a top quality, proper pilates studio that follows the classic Pilates Method. Cathy's approach was perfect for me. She was attentive to my personal needs even in a class setting, and my body and mind always felt significantly better/healthier after class. Now I'm deadlifting and squatting again, and I'm so thankful. Plus, the women in the classes are welcoming and a joy to do Pilates with. I highly recommend.

I can’t recommend the Pilates Movement Studio enough. After suffering from severe back pain and not getting the results I hoped for from physical therapy or yoga, I started seeing Cathy for private sessions. I have noticed a tremendous shift in my body. Not only can she tell just by a glance if i’m moving from the right place but Cathy has taught me how to move more effectively in my day to day life without compromising my disc issue. It’s been very liberating. Her depth of knowledge is bottomless. I don’t know where I would be without Cathy Brown and the Pilates Movement Studio!!!

Cathy's knowledge of Pilates is deep and matched only by the care and attention she gives to each of her students. The classes are kept small so that everyone gets individual attention. She teaches so her students learn how to do the exercises correctly to get maximum benefit. The classes are fun and serious at the same time. I love going to Pilates Movement Studio!

Four years ago, a friend gave me a “scholarship” to introductory Pilates for my 65th birthday and that was the best present I ever got, and continues to make me happier and healthier. Cathy Brown is a skilled instructor and a wonderful role model: she demonstrates everything, is happy to take each movement down to the components and teach them, and she has a great eye for details. I have never had a coach who could do as well to keep the physical status of each person in mind, make small technique and equipment changes for A’s back, B’s knee replacement, C’s ankle problem and keep a class going.
I take one private lesson and two group classes each week and find that the support, enthusiasm and camaraderie make me look forward to every session. Pilates has gotten me through a major surgery and two back-related episodes and I give all credit to Cathy Brown’s encouragement, support, willingness to work around physical challenges, and her flat-out fun sense of humor. I have also found the kind of people who are drawn to the Work are just delightful, my classmates have become friends.
There aren’t a lot of people who can claim at 69 to be in better shape than they were at 65: I say TRY IT! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? You are never too old or too “stove up” to move, and Cathy Brown’s understanding of musculature and movement far outshines any professional input I have had.

Cathy Brown is a talented Pilates instructor: she pays a ton of attention to form without making class so intense that I feel overwhelmed. She can also demonstrate anything she teaches - not the case with some instructors - and never fails to show you what she’s asking you to do if you can’t visualize it on your own. I have been going to Cathy’s studio for over a year and am stronger and more flexible than ever, and trust me, I did not start that way! I would recommend Cathy’s studio to anyone who wants to learn any form of Pilates.

I did not think I could do Pilates, but I ended up in one of Cathy’s classes. I took a few private lessons which I easy schedule with her, then I jumped in full time. I am more flexible, strong and balanced after spending a year working with her. The classes are small and personal. Cathy is a high trained Pilates instructor and believes in what she does. She truly wants to help her clients be physically able to live a better life. I look forward to my Pilates classes every week.

Worst Pilates place I have ever been to. They have no idea what they are doing. They just want your money and they honestly have no idea what they are doing. They'll sweet talk you into signing up for classes. Not worth the money. The instructor is extremely rude. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

I started practicing Pilates with Cathy in June 2016, attending class and private sessions 2-3 times weekly. One of the many things I like is Cathy’s attention to each client. Class size is limited to 5, which allows her to focus on each person and any limitations they may have. Every time I go I have a different “problem” (back, shoulder, neck) and she is able to work around that, break down the movements, and still allow me to feel I’ve had a great session. My Private sessions have been helpful addressing these problem areas. She is a very intuitive teacher. Someday I hope to be problem free! In the meantime, I’ll be practicing Pilates with Cathy.

Doing Pilates with Cathy Brown at The Pilates Movement Studio has been one of the best decisions I have made when it comes to dealing with back pain and keeping fit. Cathy pays close attention to her clients' previous injuries and physical challenges and tailors the workouts for them. Sessions with her have been more beneficial than anything else I have tried over the years, including physical therapy, yoga, and personal training. I'll be doing Pilates with Cathy for as long as I can!

Cathy Brown at Pilates Movement has changed my life. After just a few months of working with Cathy, the chronic back pain I have suffered for over 20 years is virtually gone. And under Cathy's watchful eye and patience, I am moving and bending more than I have since high school. Thanks so much, Cathy, for bringing quality back to my life.
