Staff is super friendly and the gym is relatively clean. However, there is NO hot water in these showers. If you are someone who works out before work and needs to shower, this is not the location for you. I’ve spoken to management about it yet nothing has changed. What is the point of offering showers if you have to take a cold one in the winter? I live close to this location but am now having to drive across town to workout and shower. Management, PLEASE fix this issue.

They are cool here. Huge floor, super clean, sans weirdness, good equipment, good food all around, laundry too. Also a Jumpolinareum or sumpin. Bowling and coffee across the street. Allegedly some kind of co-work space called Dwell, but I haven't checked it out- looks cool on-screen though. Supercool overnight guy, shouts to Bryan.

This gym location is a joke! Still no hot water to shower after working out! I thought i would give this location 1 more chance since my last review. The owner responded to my last review concerning the no hot water issue and the owner suggested to speak to management and I had already done so. The owner of this planet fitness is a "deadbeat owner that makes excuses for his rundown business and tries to put it off on his employees!! Pathetic!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!!! You will say anything to get out of fixing that hot water!! When I went today only one shower worked and it only had a trickle of ice cold water coming out of it. These negative reviews has definitely not put a fire under your kiester to fix the problem,you just make more excuses!! Pathetic!!!! I assume that an email to the corporate office may get you fixing your messy business. Please don't respond to this because you are only embarrassing yourself further!!!! Get it togather!!!

Update: the gym got a bunch of new equipment but the layout is really messy. You have to walk to three different parts of the building to just get a leg workout. it's hard to get a circuit in if you are walking all over the building to just get your leg day done. Many patrons in the gym are complaining about this and we will be putting in the comments so corporate knows.

I am so happy there's a choice. The place is clean and all the equipment work. The Internet is fast. The only negative is there's not much in the way of free weights. Otherwise I totally recommend this place.

I visited this gym two nights ago and a homeless individual who appeared to be under the influence was using the gym, behaving erratically, making loud noises, and talking to himself. Despite this disruptive behavior, the staff on duty did not take any action or intervene, which made the environment feel unsafe and poorly managed.

Cleanliness is also an issue at this location. The restrooms are frequently dirty, and I rarely see staff cleaning or sanitizing the equipment or floors. It appears that much of the staff is quite young and may lack the training or initiative to maintain proper hygiene standards.

Compared to other branches, such as the Slaughter or Mopac locations, this one feels less professional and less sanitary. I believe management needs to do more to ensure the facility is not only presentable but truly clean and safe for all members. Shared spaces like restrooms and locker rooms should be maintained to a higher standard, especially when individuals experiencing homelessness are using the same facilities as paying members.

I’ve been visiting this gym for a few months now. Unfortunately, due to these concerns, I won’t be returning to this location. If you want to remain safe and in a sanitary environment I would not come to this location.

This was previously a very nice and usable gym, however a recent update to the layout made it uncomfortable crowded and difficult to use the machines I most often used, in addition the new leg extension machines are almost unusable. I would appreciate machines not being faced towards each other and getting the old quad extension machines back. I am currently planning to cancel my membership.

Avoid at all costs, it's a waste of money now. Open a free Chime/SoFi/Paypal/Albert/etc. account and change your payment info in the app to that one. Close the account after. No cancellation fees and totally legal.

They moved everything into super tight clusters so that you're cm away from the other people working out. They also took out most of the machines and have only moved in a single machine for each muscle group making a full workout impossible. It doesn't matter if it's temporary, I've already cancelled my membership.

Also the staff non-stop creepy stare at you.

To the person who is going to respond to my review: I am not going to contact the genius or my local club's management who came up with this reorganization idea because that would be a waste of time. Even at the low price charged this specific location has never been worth the money.

“Upgraded” machines recently but reduced availability of several machines and completely removed both back extension machines. The only option now is a Roman chair which puts undue stress on the back and risks serious injury to members.

Have been coming here for almost 5 years and the latest machine reshuffle paired with the lack of gym etiquette from others has me thinking of canceling.

New machines, great. Upper body and lower body are spread out across the gym and mixed up with each other, nothing makes sense. Several machines are facing each other just feet apart. Adding three full sized squat racks in a small PLANET FITNESS is insane. They make a great spot for people to post up on their phones for 2 hours though.

Brand new equipment replaced the machines I was used to. No idea how to use them and they seem huge. I have always loved that I could have an hour FREE of phone time but having to use qr codes to figure out every machine kills that fantasy. Also treadmills nearest the tvs were removed so you will have to bring your phone if you want to multitask and hear a show.

On another note the place is clean and the employees will let you know to scan the codes.

I transferred from another gym where everyone sat on machines forever scrolling tiktok on their phones instead of going to the next machine. I enjoyed not bringing my phone with me.

I’d rate this Planet Fitness a 3 out of 5. Not bad at all—just very middle of the road, in my opinion.

The gym is on the smaller side, but it has a solid mix of both old and newer Planet Fitness equipment. That said, the space feels a bit cramped, especially during busier hours. One surprising highlight was the presence of free weights, including a barbell squat rack—something I rarely see at Planet Fitness locations.

Overall, the facility was clean, which I appreciated. I do wish they had a hairdryer available in the locker room. Customer service was generally chill, although one of the personal trainers seemed to have a bit of an attitude when I asked him a question. Maybe he was having an off day—hard to say, but it left something to be desired.

All in all, it was a decent experience and I still got a good workout in. Just not a standout location compared to other planet fitness locations I’ve been to.

Exceptionally clean, temperature cool, staff is very friendly, very reasonable cost.

Two years or so later; not sure about days but at night the temperature is uncomfortable, way to warm now. Attendants working lied about the fans only having one speed, when I've asked others to adjust the speed and they did. Night attendants lied about the AC temperature settings saying it can't be adjusted when other's have adjusted it. Not sure if why this is an issue or if the attendants are adjusting the temperature to thier own likings. I wonder it the other locations are having the some issues with the AC. This wasn't an issue before.

June 2019 now they seemed to have raised the temperature & slowed down the fans during the day too. My wife and I visited the Slaughter location which I used to go to before this location was opened, and it was cooler.

July 2019 spoke with Bruce about fans turned down so low and he made adjustments during my visit. Thanks Bruce!

7/2025 they're keeping it nice and cool. Staff are friendly and the place is so clean. I've been to all locations in Austin and this is the best.

Leaving this review as a warning — if you are a woman, this gym is NOT a safe place for you. I have been consistently going to the gym for years over various locations, cities, and companies, and never at any location have I felt as unsafe as I do at this Planet Fitness. Men will constantly stare at you, and the final straw that is making me abandon this gym altogether is that I had a PHOTO taken of me while I was working out on the smith machine, and the men that took it started showing it to one another. It was disgusting, demeaning, and incredibly upsetting to have to experience that when I’m just trying to get a workout in. I tried to bring it up to the front desk, but there was no one there even if I wanted to. I ended up having to stop my workout early and go home.

The way men treat me at this gym makes me rush through my workouts. I’m on edge constantly in a way I’ve never had to be at any other gym. If this is happening to me, I know it must be happening to other women. Just stay safe, pick another gym, or if you insist on this one go during the day and try to work out with other people.

I have been complaining about the showers for almost a year now, it seems they just ignore you, of the 4 showers (as of today) 06/21/ 2025 all 4 showers are inoperable the first shower has no water pressure as does the second shower, both have very little hot water, the third and handicap showers are unusable as the fixtures in these are both broken it does no good to complain although I’ve been a black card member for years I’m fed up complaining and will close my account

I had an absurd incident yesterday. After working out for about 2 hours at around 9pm, I went into the locker room to take my bag out of my locker #10, but my locker was completely gone. Luckily my bag and belongings were still there, but I was so shocked. So I saw a female Planet employee who never greeted me normally, and I told her that someone must have tried to steal my stuff by breaking the locker. What the Planet employee said was shocking. She said that a member left something in my locker before I used it, so they had no choice but to open my locker. How can you say such a stupid thing? And locker #10 was empty before I used it. I'm going to complain to Planet Customer about this. I've been going to Planet for over 10 years, but this is the first time I've experienced such an absurd thing at this location. If someone left their luggage in a locker, shouldn't the Planet staff have looked for the member using the locker before breaking the lock of the person currently using the locker? This is really shameless. Why do I have to go through this ridiculous situation where they don't even pay for my lock and don't even apologize properly? Give me my lock right now!

Came from out of town when visiting family and it's a pretty standard Planet Fitness. All machines looked fairly new and staff was friendly. Clean. It's a bit of smaller than other one's I've visited but crowd size wasn't too much of a problem despite going early evening on a weekday. Worth a visit if you need to get your exercise on.

Visiting from Madison WI and I am impressed with this club! Very nice vibe at this location.  Staff are so friendly even as we signed in. The treadmills are very new and nice.  Great ceiling fans and the ceiling height is just right (not too low and not caverous either).  Lighting is also great.  Black Card room is super nice.  Hydro Massage beds are newer and work great.  Great to get a good workout while on vacation.

I've been going to various gyms in the Austin/Round Rock area for about 8 years now including LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness and now Planet Fitness. I moved to South Austin 3 years ago and my neighborhood Planet Fitness at West Gate/William Cannon has been my favorite so far. The gym is always clean and the entire staff is friendly and welcoming. When I walk in it feels like my second home. I also appreciate that they bring in new equipment regularly and have all of my favorite weight machines.

My buddy and I stopped by last night to get a quick, late (almost 1AM) treadmill run and gosh, I didn’t get the employee’s name that was working there but he was so chill and friendly!!! We joined the New Braunfels, TX location about a month ago. It’s large, fairly clean and there are a ton of cardio machines. When equipment goes down they get it repaired and back in operation quickly. This is not a big free weights gym, it’s tailored more for the person who wants to get some general fitness. If you’re looking to get or stay fit, not training for the next Mr Olympia or CrossFit Games then this would be a great gym for you.

I’ve been to about 20-30 different planet fitnesses around the US. Seen some bad ones, but this is up there.

Despite the 24hr operations which is the only good factor. The facility has poor equipment, just barely any weighted machines and they use the older barbell press machines.

The lighting in the facility was also pretty poor. Compared to other planet fitnesses, i could barely even see any muscles or gains due to the strict only overhead lighting.

In addition, the whole building looked stuck in the 90s. The place desperately needs a relook or refurbishment with new machines. If this PF gets a refurbishment like the other PFs are. I’d be much more inclined to return. Otherwise, im just waiting for the slaughter location to reopen in the morning.

I love that Planet Fitness has personal trainers available. Elijah is superb. He's helping me to nail the rowing machine and I can see and feel the difference. Plus, making healthy choices has led to new friendships made.

Dropping a star because of the new equipment, especially the Matrix elliptical machines. These machines just seem cheap (although I’m sure they’re not), almost like home workout equipment. Most of them wobble from side to side when working out, and a lot of them now make squeaking noises. The old LifeFitness elliptical machines they had where of far better quality. Possibly these new machines are the only options offered to the franchisee by Planet Fitness, although I’m pretty sure I have seen better ones at other locations outside of Austin.

The PF on West Gate Blvd has the best team I have ever met. The gym is clean, equipment is well maintained, and your people there are very friendly & helpful.

To whoever worked the desk this morning, there's no gray area when it comes to recording in the locker room. It clearly states on the planet fitness website that the number one rule for mobile devices is "Planet Fitness strictly prohibits the use of mobile devices to take photographs or videos or to make voice or video calls in the locker rooms but also in our black card spa area including individual rooms such as tanning rooms." Overall, it's a decent gym. Not too busy and has a decent amount of workout options. Equipment and facilities are clean and well maintained. This is not a place for the serious gymrat. There are no free barbell options. This is designed for a beginner to possibly intermediate gym goer. I do appreciate the attitude of the staff and clients, as most everyone is not judgemental or critiquing your actions.
I personally prefer to have more options in a gym.

4 or 5 people have been waiting in the front for 20+ minutes. There is no one to start black card spa amenities for us. This is the second time I’ve waited 15-20+ minutes.

There’s no bell or way to contact the person at the gym right now so we are all waiting. Absolute nonesense to offer amenities and have us paying extra to not even be able to use this stuff while here.

Absolutely love the staff and the cleanliness of the gym, but so damn frustrated with corporate! The A/C has been out for over a week with no communication to members. I have asked several times only to be told that they have NO idea when it will be fixed.

The light bulbs in tanning bed one has been out for weeks, which we notified the front desk twice and pretty sure they told management.

One of the toilets in the women’s bathroom has been out of order for months.

Members pay on time monthly expecting to receive a certain level of service that we are not getting.

It is certainly understandable that things happen, but with the lack of communication it is very frustrating.

Very safe environment! Being a young woman I've had my fair share of guys approach me and be weird, but the front desk staff are on top of it!! I'll approach them and identify the person and they do their thing and will intervene if they spot someone uncomfortable. Awesome staff, 10/10 no notes

Been coming here for 2 weeks now and so far so good! I had been in F45 fitness classes the last 1.5 years but wanted to focus more on strength training so I joined PF for free-weights. I go in the mornings around 7:30-8am, it’s not busy and I am always able to get a weight bench and access to any equipment. The staff is nice and helpful, the entire gym and women’s locker room are very clean and well maintained, people seem to keep to themselves and are respectful

Though this may not be the largest PF footprint, they have a ton of equipment to take advantage of. I'm not in this area often but definitely enjoy this PF when I am.

They get a 10/10 on their showers. Amazing water pressure and great shower heads. I wish the other Planet Fitness gyms would follow their lead in regards to their showers.

3 words; Quincy, Lila, Justin. They make the Westgate location the elite, leader ship of the Planet Fitness fleet. Inspiring, helpful, friendly, encouraging..they are the reason we go to Planet Fitness and they are the reason we STAY with Planet Fitness. They, along with Chris who always has a smile, keep this gym immaculately clean; constantly refilling cleaning stations, vacuuming, DUSTING. This location is equipped with the latest, top of the line equipment and a lot of it. Even when the gym is busy, we have never had to wait for a machine. Westgate Planet fitness is more than a gym. It is a vibration, a frequency. With Quincy as captain of this dedicated crew, this gym is a beacon within a sea of gyms. Thank you for leading the way. ~Quay

I came in for a day pass cuz I just wanted to try the gym out. Lila was at the front desk and she was very kind and helpful. It’s always nice to be met with a smiling face, especially when you’re new and a little overwhelmed! She told me about the membership options and I appreciated that she wasn’t pushy by trying to sell me anything, she was respectful of me just wanting to try PF out. I’m getting a membership by the way!

Fantastic gym! Always clean and the equipment is in good working condition. They just recently replaced all their aerobic machines. They also just went to 24 hours per day. I highly recommend Planet Fitness Westgate.

This location is awesome.

I have 2 locations closer from home but I rather drive to this one. cleaner, perfect lights (not too bright) so it feels warmer, friendly staff and constantly cleaning and making sure everithing runs smoothly. thank you

Put in the wrong address on my gps, but was pleasantly suprised! Vibe of this planet fitness was much more calm, and quiet. I really appreciated the dimmed lights, and quieter music as opposed to other planet fitness locations. Was not too busy for an evening workout. Very beginner friendly!

If you’re trying to shower, just a heads up, the water is absolutely, unendingly frigid. Everything else is fine, but DAMNl. Idk maybe you’re into that.

Mmm I thought it was okay - it's a pretty small planet fitness compared to the ones I've been to
They were cleaning the restrooms while I was there and the restrooms smelled nice but the worker kinda just sat and waited till some of us left, which makes sense since it's a pretty small locker room too
The lighting is really low to what I'm used to too, but I'm glad I was able to use what I could while I was there
