One of the employees put his hands on me. I had already scanned in and had run out to my vehicle to grab my hat and after walking back in the employee, a small skinny black man working 11/17 around 3:30, aggressively tapped my shoulder to tell me I needed to scan in. After telling him I had already scanned in he then made smart remarks and continued to make them as he walked away. Going to be canceling this membership.

I guess this location and Planet fitness is the worst of Austin. Showers and restrooms are not clean and smell. The black area is not nice. People in the changing room just lying on the benches watching the phone. Both times I was on the treasmill people around just smelled so bad I have to look for a new treadmill. Maybe it is because of the people who lives in this area. I went twice because on Tuesdays I have meetings by Anderson lane, but I usually go to the Mopac one. I have tried as well the one in Pflugerville just a bit better and the one in Sout Austin which is similar to the one of Mopac. But I won't come back to this facility.

Cool gym, but one front desk lady wouldn’t help me. I have a black card membership and was trying to do the hydro massage. The machine wasn’t working and I told her and she just shrugged and said I don’t know. Didn’t even check on it or anything. Useless.

Planet Fitness in Austin is a well-run, clean, and welcoming gym. The equipment is always in great condition, and there’s a wide variety of machines and weights to fit any workout routine. 💪

The staff are professional, friendly, and always willing to help or answer questions. The environment feels safe and inclusive — whether you’re a beginner or a regular gym-goer, it’s easy to feel comfortable here.

This is by far the best gym I’ve been to. The service they provide is spot on, which is why I keep returning to this location! they’re always cleaning, always dusting, and the showers here are awesome, and big. They’re always cleaning the showers too. The manager, Tim is very nice too, and the staff are also very friendly. The equipment is well maintained too. For me, I like a clean gym, and this is why I love this planet fitness location!! Also, this gym, there’s no judgement, everyday people getting fit and healthy, no matter your circumstances!

Pros: great AC, newer machines, clean, smells good.

Cons: not a good etiquette culture in here— lot of groups of college kids hog the machines just socializing, have to wait 10-30+ mins for a machine to open up which is really annoying. There’s also groups of dudes that hog the cable machines just taking selfies in the mirror and don’t let anyone else use them. It’s way too crowded in here with people not actually there to workout, not enough machines.

I'm a truck driver and visit Planet Fitness locations all over the country, and honestly, most of the time the staff look tired or not really interested in helping. But the guy working here, CP, really stood out. He was very respectful, friendly, and welcoming to everyone who walked in. I could see he was always doing something - cleaning, organizing, or greeting members - not just standing around. It's great to see someone who actually cares about their job and creates a positive atmosphere. Big respect to him

The gym itself was relatively clean, although several machines were out of order and parts of the ladies’ locker room were roped off and unusable. However, the main reason for my three-star review is the extremely disappointing behavior of the front desk staff. We were visiting this location, and the difference between here and my home gym was striking. At my home gym, the staff are always warm, welcoming, and friendly. In contrast, when we walked into this gym, both the young woman and the gentleman at the front desk were so absorbed in their personal conversation that they didn’t even acknowledge us. The young woman continued to discuss her personal business while we checked in, never offering so much as a greeting. When we left, the same thing happened—she was sitting behind the counter, still talking, and neither staff member bothered to look up, thank us, or say goodbye. For a visitor, that lack of even basic courtesy and professionalism was disappointing and left a very negative impression of this location.

I've been coming to this planet fitness gym for the past 2 years. I had taken a few months off to rest a little and then I started coming back 5 weeks ago. I love the new machines and the upgrades on all the new equipment. However, I would like to formally make a complaint about a worker here. Her name is Elma. Ever since I first encountered her she has been nothing but rude and unhospitable. One time I had a guest coming and told her that my guest was in the parking lot on the phone and would be in a few minutes. I had informed her of the situation but she said that she wouldn't let him in unless I was there showing proof of his entrance. Keep in mind I have a Black Card Membership and I understand safety precautions but her demeanor was really rude. It felt as if I was trying to sneak someone in or I wasn't supposed to be trusted. So I just let that go and did what she said and went on with my work out. Now today, I wanted to use the hydro bed and noticed that one was empty. So I asked if I could use it. She had responded that someone was using it even though one was complete unoccupied. So confirms with her coworker. So I go back and get a closer look at the timer and it's set at zero however, I noticed the sign on the screen showing that it's out of order. So I got back and say I didn't know that the one that was unoccupied was out of order. She immediately smirks at me and smiles. How rude is that? She could have just told me that one was occupied and the other was out of order. Then she has the audacity to smirk and me and smile. This is unprofessional and unnecessary. You are being unhelpful and rude. Also, I would like to add the fact that I saw her let a member come in without signing in. I have noticed that people are coming in and using other people's accounts or something bc I saw a person try and buy a water bottle on their account but couldn't bc the QR code they were using didn't match the picture in the profile with the person at hand. The gym is already over crowded and if there are people using hydro beds and massage chairs when they are not even paying for the membership then why should I be paying for it for the past 2 years. I would like this to be addressed with the staff at hand. Why should be sharing a gym with people who are not even supposed to be there? And how does the meter in my planet fitness app only show 2 bars of capacity when every machine is being used? Either, the system is incorrect or not everyone is being checked in and the company is losing out on money

Initially, I rated this Planet Fitness three stars at best, due in part to the poor upkeep of the machines and the cleanliness of the facility; however, after visiting the Planet Fitness located at 1819 S Pleasant Valley Rd. Austin, TX 78741, it quickly jumped to 4 stars. This obviously doesn't bode well for the above-referenced facility.

What helped determine the increase in stars was the immediate response to my complaint about what happened on my second visit here. The manager emailed to offer his apology and asked how he could make up for the poor service I encountered from a couple of his staff members. His apology was enough for me, considering I don't live in Austin and was visiting.

The manager's concern for the customer goes a long way in my opinion and determination of my reviews. I commend the manager for his attentiveness and concern for his clients. I recommend that he clean his store with a little more elbow grease.

I tried out this PF location while I was driving by running errands. Safe to say I will not be returning here. The location is weird and it seems like a lot of people are hanging out in the parking lot. The layout is very weird inside and probably the smallest of all of the Planet Fitness locations I've been to. There is no "black card lounge" like every other location. There are just 2 massage chairs & 2 hydrobeds in the main hallway. To use the tanning beds it's just right off the main hallway as well. The bathrooms are pretty old and run down. Half of stalls/showers say out of order. Machines aren't in great shape. Overall I would say is just older and you can feel it.

I love this Planet fitness…. Mr. Tim, the boss help me try to fix my cart and Valeria did help as well plus they are outstanding … keeping the planet fitness always clean .She helped me put my suitcase in storage and helped out the cart as well. Valeria make sure my property is taken care of nobody steals from me … What would we do without this team work…. Very happy to be here. and Joel is helping the customers by recognizing that the door needs to be open for people who are handicapped… he stepped it up….

Other than that this gym is nice, employees are nice, and the place is clean and neat.

Make sure to pay on time or you will be paying a fee that iguals a month of membership.

I got really tired to pay late fees and dicided to post it in order for other member to avoid this. Member’s customer service do know this is their main income and will do nothing to please a member.

Updated: after dialing for a bit, I finally have a conversation with a customer service representative who removed late fees and gave me a few months free due to this issue.

Came in last month to cancel my membership and was told by an employee it was cancelled. I was charged another annual and monthly fee and when I came in to ask why that was I was told they cancelled the wrong membership and I’ll need to come in Monday to speak to a manager even though I drove 40 minutes all the way down there. They couldn’t give me an answer as to why this mysterious “other account” was canceled by not the account I’m being charged for. No one was any help at all, this is extremely frustrating and I’m very unhappy with their customer service. The employees need better training

CLEAN. The cleanest gym I've ever been to. I consitently see the staff walking with a janitor cart and refreshing the cleaning stations and wiping the machines.

The machines are all in great shape and well maintained, when there is damage to a machine it's quickly delt with. The equipment is clean and without rust which adds to the overall asthetic of a clean environment.

Each location I've been to also offers keyless and lockable lockers for you to use, they don't foce you to buy or use your own lock which is great and makes things easy so you can get to your workout faster.

They do get busy so it can be difficult to find your own space to workout, but the machines are laidout great so each machine has enough space for full range of movements.

This location does not have a dedicated deadlift/squat section but they do offer multiple smith machines to accommodate.

At the end of the day, if all you need is a CLEAN place to lift some weights or do some cardio without the need of highly specialized machines then this is a great place for that and amazing value for money.

Update 2/25/2025 - the gym equipment has been updated and everything seems to be consistently operating correctly. People (gym go-ers, not staff) also seem to be more friendly and supportive. Could be the new year and shared goals. People at the front desk are friendly and polite.

Update 10/03/2024 - things have gotten better and the massagers appear to all be working again. I've been happy with both the location and the cleanliness of the facility and equipment

Update 8/29/2024 - I'm a little frustrated that several things have broken: both of the hydro massagers, one of the chair massagers doesnt move in the midback, and when it rains, the building loses power. I know that losing power isn't completely their fault, but the last 3 times it has rained while I've been there, they have lost power. I think they should have a backup generator or something because if the power goes out while you're on the treadmill, it can be pretty dangerous - I've already tweaked my back.

I'm happy with my membership so far. The front desk staff have been helpful - I've asked several questions (as I'm new to the gym culture), and they have been kind.
I have noticed it's pretty busy when I go, but that's to be expected right after "normal" working hours

I started going to Planet Fitness in December 2024, and really appreciate the company and this location in particular.

Membership pricing

The base rate for a PF membership is incredibly affordable compared to most gyms, and the machines and free weights are great for what you pay. I signed up for the Black Membership, which for the deal I got, cost me $25 a month for a year. This gives access to all the typical machines, etc. but also allows me to go to any location, use any personal training services available, and use the massage, hydro massage, and tanning services. You really can’t beat that deal, and they’ve been running this promo for the last three months which is fantastic.

Facilities

The facilities are kept very clean, and most gym goers at this location are committed to using the spray bottles scattered across the facility. After 2020, cleanliness has become a priority in any facility for me, it’s nice to know this is important to them, too.

Equipment/Amenities

There are tons of machines here, dumbbells, and bicep bars available for use. Additionally, they have massage chairs, hydro massage recliners, and tanning beds. There are numerous free lockers, showers, and bathrooms. All of these amenities work great and are kept nice and clean. The only thing that would extra elevate the experience is more non-Smith machine squat bars, but it’s a fantastic location and that would just be an extra plus. The hydromassage recliners are definitely my personal favorite part.

Staff

The staff are so friendly and helpful! My first day using my plan, I needed some assistance figuring out how to book the massage chairs. The staff member I asked walked me through how it all worked, and made nice recommendations as well. The rest of the staff has been very friendly since - I even bonded with one front desk member who saw my Astros sweatshirt and we bonded over our Houston roots. I always feel welcome here.

Atmosphere

I love PF’s commitment to keeping the gym “real.” I don’t feel embarrassed to be here or pressure to fit in with a gym rat style crowd. There’s a range of folks at this location so I don’t feel like
I need to be some body builder to belong here, and everyone is generally polite and minds their own business. I have never been approached here to get hit on, which I’ve actually never experienced at a gym, and I think that’s really nice. I feel safe and comfortable being here amongst my peers.

Security

I feel pretty confident leaving my stuff in the lockers, but they have options for locked boxes as needed. The lockers accommodate most standard locks if you feel the need to bring them.

Overall

I really love this gym and recommend it. For the price and what you get out of it, it really can’t be beat.

I have 2 cards listed and they couldn't or wouldn't. and they charged me +$15.
I will change the club for better conditions, and I will go where there is a pool and there is no such disgusting service

Some characters here. Dudes just hanging out in the locker room. The shower head I got barely worked, and the water was luke warm while the shower stall next to me had steam rolling out from it. Also no place but the shower floor to put soap/shampoo bottles. Was also dirty. As a van lifer who has been to many planet fitnesses, there are better. I had been going to one in south Austin that was great, but this one happened to be closer. Won’t be back.

I come to this gym often when I work in Austin to shower and to workout once or twice a week. This isn’t my home location but it’s still pretty good. Nice staff, nice and clean environment too. Showers are what you’d expect, a little on the dirtier side but it’s a gym shower so, don’t expect anything crazy clean. The lockers and restrooms themselves are spacious. Dirty, Dirty, Dirty. This place is a mess. Went because they are open 24 hours. Next time I'll hit my normal location instead. Used bandaid on the floor, half drank abandoned water bottles. Front desk clerk was too busy with her phone and a bag of chips. Very disappointing location.

The gym is always very clean. There is periodically equipment on maintenance, but they actually do get to it and keep equipment in good shape overall, and there is plenty of machines to choose from. It gets busy Monday through Thursday 4pm to 9pm, this is clearly shown in the app crowd meter thing or on google maps. Despite the club being busy during these times, with some flexibility in the order of my workout or machines I want to use, I never actually have to wait more than 2-3 minutes and I always manage to complete all I want to get done. The staff is very nice and has been helpful with membership questions.
I have not used the bathrooms/showers so I can’t speak for these.
There are plenty of cleaning stations around the club, it would be nice to have an extra one by the mats since the closest one it’s kinda far and I really want to clean the mat before and after use, but I never had an issue with others not cleaning the mats either.

So I was working out of town and this was the closest PF. The staff were unprofessional and then apparently went outside to smoke weed on their break. I don't have anything against people smoking, but not while at work. Equipment was gross and it is obvious the staff are not there to work. They did have a lot if equipment and are busy, so that is the only reason I gave 3 stars.

Place is clean, nice staff and very accommodating. Other local Gyms are fairly dirty. I actually saw the front desk clerk moving a large cleaning cart through the gym last night. I had trouble signing in and when he walked bye, he kindly greeted me and asked how my cardio was going. Those things I appreciate. You can tell at any gym when they have had high volume and the floor in the bathrooms has paper on it and needs sweeping vs the place never being cleaned. I have walked into other gyms and seen the same hair in sinks and on shower walls for weeks.

Very dirty Planet Fitness! There is trash in the changing rooms, trash on the shower floors, grime on the locker room floor, toilet paper all over the bathroom stall - and it's 8:00 AM! Adding a star because the staff are friendly enough
