This PF is honestly my favorite gym it feels different compared to other PF gyms. The staff is awesome and cheerful as well, I see Cannan there all the time he’s very chill. I see him talk to other gym members so it shows he’s friendly and knows how to build relationships with people which creates a pleasant environment!

The equipment is great. The addition of actual weights is a good touch. However, the staff seems pretty incompetent. They misspelled my name when I enrolled in the Black card membership. It took them three months to figure it out and fix it. In the meantime I couldn’t use the benefits. The manager looks like he ate the old one and most of the staff look like they’ve never been in the gym.

Very good value especially if you have the basic plan. Lots of treadmills and I enjoy the ones on the second floor. They keep the studio open which I appreciate especially when it’s busy I can jump in there and do mat workouts or dumbbells.
I hope they can figure out a better layout for the cable machines, it’s too cluttered in the middle and hard for people to pass through to go to the chest and leg area.

Best Planet Fitness (PF) I've been to. Retained the free weights from Texas Family Fitness. All of the other PF's I've visited have had no free barbells. As a Black Card member I'm liking the massage chairs, helps with some of the initial stiffness after a workout. Truely a 5 star PF, only thing missing to take it to the next tier would be a pool. But that's not PFs wheel house. It is a 5 star entry lvl gym.

It's not a bad gym. The trainers and staff take great care of the cleanliness of the place. I was a member of Gold's Gym for many years. This place isn't that big, but it's very pleasant to come and do the routine you have to do. Compared to other Planets Fitness, this one is different, which is why I didn't leave when they changed owners. The system at other Planets Fitness is ugly, not this one.

I’ve been a member here since opening, and unfortunately, the overall experience has been disappointing. Many of the machines—especially treadmills and weight equipment—are either outdated or not well maintained.

While the spa area has recently been remodeled, there’s a persistent unpleasant smell—something like old produce—that really detracts from the environment. It’s not something you’d expect from a freshly updated space.

Customer service is another issue. Most of the front desk associates seem disengaged, often absorbed in their phones or chatting with each other rather than helping members. The one exception is the female manager with dark hair—she’s professional and solid, and seems to care about the facility and its members.

In short, this location feels below average for a gym. For those looking for a better workout experience, I’d recommend checking out LA Fitness, Brickhouse Gym, or a locally owned fitness center. There are definitely better options in the area for your money.

Whoever controls the music (Corporate? Management? God? ) plays the music so loud that I cannot hear my own music in my headset or ear buds unless it is at maximum volume. This planet fitness is the absolute WORST! Their tanning beds are NEVER up and running. They always have problems with them. Their staff is stuck on their phones and rude. tall blonde dude at the front desk was immediately nasty and combative when I came in to cancel my black card membership, rolled his eyes and huffed right when it came out of my mouth. the whole reason I signed up for the black card was because I was told that there was zero commitment and no charge to cancel. I was passing by the area and decided to get a workout in. And to my delight, this Planet Fitness was completely different from the usual Planet Fitnesses I've been to. I assume that's because it has bought out a gym that used to be here, but as a result, everything usually absent from PF was all here. They had a TON of free weights:

-I'm not sure what this called, but maybe a half-rack with platform, so you can do actual deadlifts/squats/clean and jerks/whatever. The plates are rubberized so you can drop them and not create a ruckus. The plates there are also in kilos instead of pounds (10, 15, 20, 25 kg = 22, 33, 44, 55 lbs, respectively)

-Tons of benches with bars bells

-An honest-to-goodness weight sled

-Dumbbells that go up to 120 lbs

-Private fitness rooms

-The front desk has lifting belts available

-Lots of other really fun stuff

I don't know if PF is planning on turning this into their "usual" setup in the future, but as of 06/01/2025, this is a fantastic gym for people serious about fitness. For the local's sake, I hope they don't change it.

Great Gym – Clean, Disciplined, and Worth the Drive!

I've visited many gyms in the area, and this is by far one of the best. The facility is always clean, and the equipment is well-maintained. What really stands out is that not only the staff (Planet Fitness/TFF team) but also the members take cleanliness seriously — everyone wipes down the equipment after use and puts everything back in place.

Even though I’ve moved to a different location, I still make the effort to come back here because of how hygienic and well-equipped this gym is. Totally worth it!

I’ve been going to this Planet Fitness for two months, and I’m honestly baffled by how poorly it’s run. From the moment you walk in, you're not even acknowledged. The front desk staff doesn’t greet you, they don’t even look up. It’s like your presence is an inconvenience. Their whole demeanor is cold, disinterested, and honestly, just unprofessional.

The girls working the front seem more focused on themselves than the members. Covered in tattoos and wearing septum rings, they give off a vibe that says “don’t bother us.” It sets a terrible tone the moment you walk through the door. If they say anything at all, it feels dismissive or indifferent.

The gym itself feels like a cave - dimly lit and low-energy. Equipment is limited. Only two leg machines, barely any ab gear, but rows and rows of treadmills, like the only goal here is slow cardio for people scrolling their phones. Speaking of which, machines are constantly being hogged by people sitting on them doing absolutely nothing. No signs, no enforcement, no care.

The only decent thing here? The bathrooms and lockers. That’s it. Everything else - from the layout, to the lighting, to the staff attitude, is just a mess. Nothing’s changed or improved in months.

If you’re serious about working out, skip this place. It’s not a gym, it’s a phone-scrolling lounge with bad lighting and worse energy.

I’ve been a member for years. This is in regard to the relocated Planet Fitness, formally Texas Family Fitness off Loop 288.

This location has gone downhill, and it’s clear that management isn’t interested in fixing the issues. The trainers constantly take up essential equipment, like the only mine plant bar, to train people who aren’t even using it, leaving paying members waiting unnecessarily. Meanwhile, equipment is slowly disappearing without explanation—stretching ropes are gone from the studio, and the InBody machine was not only removed but was barely accessible when it was here because the trainers were so stingy with it. To make matters worse, when the gym moved locations, the stretch chairs and stretch cage never got moved over and are now nowhere to be found, leaving members without dedicated stretching equipment.

The Black Card Zone is still not fully functional despite members paying for access. On top of that, the massage chairs and hydro beds, which require no staff involvement, are occupied by people running back-to-back sessions while others have to wait. The locker room is also a mess—too small, often dirty, and completely lacking basic necessities like paper towels. There’s only one hand dryer, and that’s if it’s even working. Multiple lockers are broken, and with only two private toilets, there’s often a wait just to use the restroom. The overall atmosphere is getting worse, with dim lighting, non-functioning TVs, and nowhere to stretch because the studio space has basically become a dumping ground for broken equipment.

To make matters worse, the trainers hover around certain areas and pieces of equipment, making it uncomfortable for people to use them. The gym is also packed with people constantly filming and taking pictures, turning it into more of a social media backdrop than a functional workout space. And if all that weren’t enough, the sheer amount of broken equipment is ridiculous—one Stairmaster, two bikes, three treadmills, and five cable pulley machines are out of order, with no urgency to fix them. Even the machines that do work have worn-out padding that looks like it hasn’t been replaced in years.

Planet Fitness advertises itself as a “judgment-free zone,” but right now, it feels more like a neglected afterthought. Management needs to step up, fix what’s broken, and provide the experience members are paying for before this location becomes completely unusable.

Workout floor mats look like ones another facility threw out. Pads on some of equipment need replacing. Looks like a bunch of the equipment is used from another location. I don’t know what’s everyone is complaining about. I travel for work, been to over 75 different pf’s and this is supreme to any other in the country. Yea you may be used to what this gym WAS, but for a pf, this is about as good as it gets. The locker rooms are insanely nice. Tile n glass doors, big(ish) lockers. Tons of free weights, free weight squat racks and deadlift area. Lots of dif variations of equipment from what of typically carries. 120 lb dumbless. Aerobics room. No pf in the country has what this one has. I’ll take this any day if the week compared to others. I parked my semi in the dock out back. Unsure. If that’s ok but it worked.

Planet Fitness (PF) recently took over this location, which was previously Texas Family Fitness (TFF). I officially transitioned to Planet Fitness and can only imagine the challenges the PF staff have faced navigating this change. Despite this, my experience has been smooth and positive, thanks to the incredible team.

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Reef and Manager Delina, who were both kind and extremely helpful with my transition and showed great patience. James was also fantastic when I first visited last week to start the process. Their dedication made the transition seamless for me.

The gym itself remains beautiful and clean. While it can feel crowded at times, given that it consolidates members from three previous clubs into one, there are still off-peak hours when the space is more open, and machines and workout areas are easily accessible.

A huge shoutout to the staff and management for going above and beyond to create a clean, welcoming environment for their clients. Their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed :)

Loved Texas Family Fitness, but the Planet Fitness acquisition has been a nightmare. PF shut down their 2 Denton locations so those members are now going to the small TFF Denton location. They have 3 gyms combined into one, you have to wait in line to use equipment, and they no longer offer any classes. I pre-paid for a year of TFF's highest membership, it took weeks to transfer over because there was never the right person in the gym to help me, and now my new agreement shows the lowest membership with home club only. I tried to resolve this over the phone and was told I had to go into the gym. If you are considering the Planet Fitness Denton Location, please tour the gym on a weekday evening to see how busy it is before your make your decision and I'm sure you will decide to look elsewhere.

Walked into the new location in Denton and it looks like a prison. Very depressing environment. Dark and industrial. I canceled my membership. The old location was bright and welcoming. It was a good place to be.

Cool and all that you changed your theme and it is NICE. I’d take the ugly purple and yellow any day if it means there’s 6-7 smith machines available with movable benches. How is there only two smith machines in the entire gym?? It’s my GO TO machine for my lower body days and you can do so many workouts on them. There’s a SINGLE hip thrust machine. Do you know how many girls do this workout and you only put one single machine in there?? I don’t want to wait 30 mins for it to be available just to argue with another girl over who goes first.. I could’ve used the smith machine like I normally do, but since theres ONLY TWO they’re ALWAYS full. And why are almost all the benches attached to every machine? Can’t do hip thrusts without a bench on the smith machine. It’s insane how big this new location is but how there’s less machines. I saw ONE hip abductor machine and ONE hip adductor machine but at the old one there were two of each. The old location and layout was so much more efficient and saved me so much time. I came in the afternoon and it was so packed so I left then came back at night but it was still too packed, but if it was the old location it would not be packed. Everything was fine and the fact that it’s gonna be impossible to find another 24 hour gym as good as the old PF sucks.

great upgrade gd machines & very clean especially the changing room/rest room, but I'll say this though..Bit overcrowded even at 4:30am, well, i guess business is gd. They probably purchase Pet smart aswell...

The new location claims to have a bigger expansion, but the men's locker room is tiny—not even half the size of the older location—and it feels crowded. 😒 Almost a month later, the TV is still not working. The new location is a disappointment.

Planet Fitness is a great value for me as a senior on a fixed income. The new facility is super clean and well-maintained. My only concern is that the manager wouldn’t give me a yes or no answer on whether or not they let biological males into the women’s changing area. I have three daughters and this is a very important issue to me. Male and female is how God created us. No exceptions.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it is the moral here. Planet fitness had a great gym at the one on i-35 in Denton. It was clean, never over crowded, people were nice, the equipment there was all planet fitness branded and there was almost always enough so that you rarely had to wait a long time to use the machine you wanted. The atmosphere was so that it made you want to be there. This new club is dark, extremely overcrowded, bad lighting, the locker room feels like some sort of cave with low ceilings and tight areas. The equipment is not planet fitness branded, it's weird and there isn't enough for the amount of traffic at this new gym. On top of all this is the location. The i-35 location was perfect in that it was always easy to get in and out of the parking lot. This new location shares it's parking area with Walmart and many other surrounding stores and it has extremely limited access, especially when trying to leave during busy times. I avoid this shopping trap like the plague, even before planet fitness moved. I only went in that area if it was a necessity. I'm afraid this decision is going to backfire on planet fitness. I'm a retail store manager for a sports store in the area and I've been inquiring my customers about this new gym. I've yet to hear one single positive response, most just want the i-35 location back open. Everyone says they are looking for other alternatives. La fitness across the street is much easier to get in and out of. I've been a member for several years and it makes me mad that I feel I now have to face the choice to go 15-20 minutes out of my way to a good planet fitness or cancel altogether. You had a great thing, why did you have to ruin it?

The new location is cool however the machine placement is off. I get they just moved to this new location, and hopefully they can put machines closer together when it comes to what machine does what for different body parts. Another thing is this location gets packed. But overall it's a good location with a variety of different machines which is good.

With no notice they closed and moved locations. Now it's farther from me, in a horrible traffic location and they are not bringing their own equipment so I am missing equipment that I normally got to use plus some of the equipment they have now is in poor shape. Even though they moved and changed all the equipment which I think means they've broken the terms of our contract they want to charge me $60 to cancel my membership. The manager wouldn't even come out and talk to me and their corporate office claims they can never find my membership in their system so they can't help.

Editing to add that I have gone to the location per the comment below and the manager refused to come speak to me. She just told the associate to tell me there was nothing they could do.

Extremely disappointed in how Planet Fitness is handling the acquisition. I was part of the gym industry for over 10 years and have gone through multiple acquisitions and buy outs. Every time a gym buys out another company, they allow the current members to be grandfathered in to what they have.

The first day I walked in, I was happy to hear that my rate would be honored with extra perks provided by the “black card” membership. I walked into the gym today and apparently the staff had some confusion. They said they were wrong and had to pay extra on my membership.

It gets better.. not only do I have to pay extra, I’m now a single club member and Planet Fitness doesn’t have a kids club.

For the past few days, I’ve been praising planet fitness to my friends and family. I was wrong. I highly recommend going somewhere else. Plenty of gyms nearby.

They relocated out of nowhere . No email was sent to the members, we weren’t notified. So unprofessional. I found out the day they started moving because that’s the day they put out a sign. Extremely unprofessional for Planet fitness corporate. No warning, no nothing. Usually when gyms or any place is relocating, signs are put on the doors weeks in advance. It’s a joke.

This gym was decent until Planet Fitness bought it. I spent almost an hour on the phone going back and forth between people, and not a single person there could cancel the membership that I never signed up for.

Edit: I went in and canceled, and it is a zoo! Everyone is there to cancel or transfer. The employees aren't even trying to keep you because Planet Fitness didn't pay them this pay period, per employee.

PF practices bad business. Shut down TFF without any notice and remains closed. No one to contact to handle the issues. Keep referring to get help at club that is CLOSED for supposed remodel. Literally huge downgrade in quality and service. Other location under construction and filled to capacity with 3 separate gyms cramped into one space under construction. DOWNGRADE! Do not recommend!

This planet fitness will be adding new machines this month. Hack squat, sitting calf raises and other leg targeted machines will be the new addition. I am excited for this to happen. This equipment are one of the few things this gym lacks besides free weights which I heard will also be coming later this year potentially.
