I was charged $31.37 for a RIDE OR TIDE by a Planet Fitness location I’ve never even visited. This is tanning lotion 😂😂😂. I don't need tanning lotion 🤦🏾‍♀️. I was literally at my son’s football practice when the charge came through. When I called to get it resolved, I was told the only way to fix it was to drive all the way to that location...which is completely out of my way. I shouldn’t have to spend time, gas, and energy to correct an error that wasn’t mine. I’m beyond disappointed with how little accountability there is when their system makes a mistake. I know I’m not the only one who’s experienced this kind of issue, and people deserve to know before signing up.

Believe it or not, when I got there today, there was a guy at the front desk. He was distracted, typing on the computer. I scanned the QR code to enter, and then he looked up and smiled. Man, seriously, I felt such peace coming from him — he gave off a really calm vibe. Thanks for the impression!

Update: This situation has been resolved. Management did reach out to ask if I was satisfied with the improvements. I appreciate them for fixing the issues and following up.

This club smells really REALLY badly. I get that it's a gym, and I've been a gym rat for 40 years so I'm not expecting the scent of rose petals or anything, but this is different. It smells like there's a sewage problem or a noxious gas leak. I hope they address the problem, because it's bad.

They have a bunch of high schoolers at the front desk who can't help you with anything. Horrible at cancelling memberships, and have told us many times to come later to make changes to our account. They also have hidden restrictions in the form that you sign that prevents you from making changes to your account(they don't mention this at all).

I signed up with Texas Family Fitness specifically to take group classes. 3 days after I joined Planet Fitness entered the chat. I was beyond pissed. I had just closed a PF membership a few months before. I was given the option to walk away but they also gave me a membership at no cost while I made a decision. In that time they had a special for Personal training half off. I signed up with Liam as my trainer and it has been the best decision. I see him weekly and it's definitely a workout but he's funny and informative. I am motivated and I couldn't have done that without him. I needed the structure.

This particular location used to be a Texas Family Fitness and as such as retained all of its previous equipment. This means more free-weights, a deadlift / squat rack, and barbell benches which are sorely missed in other Planet Fitness locations. I’ve done a few months of personal training split between the manager Ryan & a new personal trainer Nathan Adamek who has been great, giving me personalized workout splits tailored to my goals. PT can be expensive here but they regularly run specials which can make it more budget friendly. Highly recommended location.

Definitely not enough equipment. Gaggles of teen boys that get on the squat racks and spend about an hour (kind of) lifting but mostly socializing, staring at their phones - not good when they only have two racks. A/c never seems to be on and doesn’t help with the poor hygiene that several members have. Makes for a very smelly experience. Presently looking for a new gym.

The place and the manager and both garbage. I’m an experienced lifter and have spent a ton of time in gyms. The smell, the environment, the staff. Everything about this gym is wrong, talk to the manager, he is a 30 year old manchild more concerned with dress code than the gym, went to look at the reviews and it seems pretty consistent. A bad staff creates a bad environment. I’m only going here until I can transfer to a more professional environment.

Has gotten so much better when we returned today after a 2-month post-surgery break.
Some new machines, most equipment back to operations, all but 1 TV working and the AC wasn't too warm. Also finally had new PF key tags to replace ours post-transition from TFF.

The new takeover is worst than the previous TAA. Gym is not meant for the experienced lifter. More of a family beginner gym. Bathrooms are always super nasty. Wi-Fi and TVs barely even work!

I was surprised and happy to find a Planet Fitness near my house. The gym has great machines, is very clean, and isn’t crowded. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making each visit enjoyable. The only downside is there’s no water dispenser and just one water fountain, and a limited number of lockers, which can be inconvenient during busy times. Overall, it’s a great place to work out, and I highly recommend it.

Edit: looks like they actually listened to the feedback and made changes, it doesn't smell bad anymore. Makes the visit pleasant.

Need more lockers or lockers for phone by thr entrance may be, and clean bathrooms the bathrooms stink and in turn make the entire facility stink, other than that the equipment is plenty and no crazy crowds.

There is something wrong with the sewage or there is dead vermin in the walls because it stinks as soon as you walk in. It’s not even summer yet in Texas. I don’t even want to think about what the summer months will be like. I have been driving extra 5-10 miles to go to other facilities. I was hoping that this was a temporary thing but it’s been over three weeks. Some of the equipment is in need of repair. Sanitation wipes are often missing or low on supplies.

You can expect to see groups of 4-5 teenagers that hog the machines for what seems like hours. Spending more time chit chatting then working out. Don’t expect to try any HIIT on the weight machines because you can be in for a long wait.

I would rate this gym a 3 or 4 if they can fix the stink. Embarrassing to bring friends and family here. I only use this gym if I am in a rush as the location is convenient to me.

A smile and a hello from the staff would be well received and be welcomed. Basics of great customer service, I guess when you hire younger staff it may be the new future and trend. Not sure if Planet Fitness trains customer service, I would love to be a mystery shopper and rate individual employees for awards and recognition. So far no one would be passing.

Corporate America for the... well.. not a W.
I had been a member of Texas Family Fitness for a while, but I haven't been using the membership. To cancel, you go in person or you send a letter to corporate HQ. It seems that Planet Fitness is the same.

My problem is, I did send a letter to corporate, but they continued to bill me. I went in to this location, but "their internet was down." So they sent me to a different location. I signed my cancel form and guess what! I GOT BILLED AGAIN!!!!

I called the 800 number. The service tech took my phone number and promptly routed me to the local office. They said they couldn't help and I need to call the original office. The number was disconnected so I had to track down a different number. I was greeted by a busy person who said I'd need to call the previous location that couldn't help me.

Finally he gave up and said he'd have the manager call me back. Hasn't happened yet.

Fair warning, canceling your membership is a NIGHTMARE. If the manager is unable to help me, I will be on the phone with my bank.

From bad to worse!

Been a member since 2008 and part of the 5AM crew. Depending on the 5AM opener, there had been many times the opener has failed to show up with all 5AM folks waiting for up to 1hr before giving up someone showing up to open.

That all changed a few weeks ago when our "little gym" changed their hours to 24hr-5days a week. So, around 5:36 PM on 2/26/2025 an e-mail was sent to members stating the East Frisco (Custer Road) gym was currently closed due to a power outage and hoping the issue would be resolved by Thursday, 2/27. Well, the gym was definitely not open this morning and the website still shows it is closed. Weird how the business immediately next to the gym has power. Just par for the course for a gym with often broken equipment and lack of wipes.

I loved this gym before it was Planet Fitness and had been a member over 10 years. I eagerly converted my membership to PF because it was a good deal, I was in the process of moving out of state, and PF is everywhere.

Well, these gyms are not the same everywhere and when I visited some near me where they don't have bench press, squat racks, or many free weights, I discovered PF was not for me and decided to cancel. This is where the issue and frustration began.

If you're not able to walk into your home gym in person, PF makes this simple process difficult. I was told to write and mail a letter to my home gym. Aside from walking in to your home location, this is the only option. I can't remember the last time I had to write and physically mail a letter. There is only one reason to make this a requirement, which is to make the process difficult.

Oh, and good luck getting anyone on the phone at this location, impossible. I have tried on several occasions and always end up talking to someone at the PF customer service center and they can't reach the club either, nor can they assist.

I'm a fitness enthusiast and part of my mission going forward will be to steer people clear of Planet Fitness.

Loved that they opened another Planet Fitness in Frisco, the one near DNT stole nearly 30 mins of driving from me in the morning. I didn't notice any weird smells as the other comments said, and although the equipment is used (I assume inherited from the previous owners), it's all legit and has some stuff other PFs don't, like a glute drive machine, 2 proper Olympic style squat cages (not Smith), a turf section for sled pushes and such, and punching bags. That's a major plus.

Unfortunately, anyone who's been to PF knows the signature purple color everywhere, and everything is gray at this one, including the equipment.

The biggest downsides were the bathroom sizes and the lack of cleaning supplies. The bathrooms and the rest of the setup are clearly from the previous gym style, but the bathrooms are small and more importantly there aren't very many lockers or room to change.

The second piece which is a HUGE con is lack of paper towels and sprayers. There might've been one at the front but no where accessible for the different sections of the gym. If they didn't have all this niche equipment, I might've brought this review down to 2 stars. It's seriously not a good environment to not be able to clean used equipment. Please fix this and you're set for the place you're at because of the ideal location, and my review bumps up to 4 stars.

p.s. I'd like another straight bar on the cables for tricep extensions and such, looks like there's only one of those and plenty of other odd shaped handles. Also no seated leg curl machine, only prone. Fix the cleaning supplies and the very few equipment missing and it's a solid 5 for me.

Started going here once they changed to Planet Fitness as it is so close to my home. At first, it had lots of wipes to clean the machines after use, and friendly staff. After a few weeks, there have been no wipes in the whole facility to wipe machines clean. The teens that are there working the door are on their phone or talking to their friends at one of the desks. They don’t even acknowledge you when you walk in much less help you when you need something. I usually go at night during the week and during the day on weekends so I’ve been at different times and it’s the same each time. Very disappointed with my experiences so far.
