This used to be one of the best with clean machines, attentive workers, and a manager who would welcome you. Now? Good luck if you want to use a massage chair or hydro massage, because at 8:30am I stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for someone to return. Hydro massage cover is coming off and feels like the padding has been removed.
Update: The day after writing this review I had a warm welcome from the manager and she personally apologized for the issues. She was the only one working that day.

Planet Fitness - 5 Stars: Had an excellent experience at Planet Fitness-Frisco today (Preston Road). The gym itself is spotless: floors gleam, machines are well-maintained, and everything is neatly organized by equipment type, making workouts flow smoothly. There’s plenty of space to move around without feeling crowded, and the overall vibe is calm and positive.

Special shout-out to Nate at the front desk. I came in with a temporary membership issue, and he handled it like a pro - thoughtful, professional, and knowledgeable every step of the way. He quickly troubleshot the glitch, offered several options, and extended a professional courtesy that allowed me to work out that day. By the time I was leaving, Nate had followed up through the proper channels and secured a short-term membership that fit perfectly with my stay in the area and work schedule.

I normally don’t leave complaints and generally try to go with the flow. However, I was recently overcharged $15 on my membership and went in to request a refund. Instead of being helped, I was met with extreme disrespect from an employee who even resorted to cussing me out when I addressed his behavior.

When I asked to cancel my membership, I was told it would cost $58, which I declined. I simply asked them to ban me instead, since I had no intention of returning after such unprofessional treatment. Shortly after, I received an email confirming I was banned.

This experience was handled in an incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate way. I would caution anyone considering this gym that bringing up even a genuine concern may not be addressed respectfully or properly.

I seriously can not say enough great things about this gym. From the front desk staff to the incredibly kind and supportive general manager, the Planet Fitness on Preston road in Frisco will always be my go to. The prices of membership are phenomenal and give you access to every thing you need to make your fitness goals come to fruition. The gym is always clean, including the bathrooms, and the staff is always ready and available to assist you with any thing you need. I started attending this gym several months ago and I will never go to a different gym as long as I am in the area. When I first started I was welcomed with open arms and warm smiles, and now that I’ve been working out there for a long while now, this Planet Fitness doesn’t just feel like a gym, it feels like home.

OVERCROWDED WITH NON-PAYING PEOPLE.

Because teenagers have FREE (yes, you read that correctly) access to the entire facility, it is completely overcrowded and getting on equipment can be extremely difficult, if not sometimes impossible.

This has directly impacted my ability to access equipment.

During a recent call to customer service, I was informed that a primary reason for the high traffic is the "free access extended to all teenagers". As a paying member, it is frustrating to find myself unable to use the equipment due to the facility being at capacity with individuals who are not contributing financially.

This situation greatly diminishes the value of membership for paying customers.

Big gym, nice staff, mens locker room/ bathroom are clean. There is a lot of equipment, so you can always substitute any of them when in use. The gym does get pretty full though, from around 5 to 9 pm.
Oh, there aren't any poles for bench pressing but they do have a machine for that. You just can't do proper dead lifts if that's your thing.

This was a pretty miserable showering experience. For a large metropolitan area, they should really take better care of their facilities. This place was absolutely not maintained at all. When after eight or so minutes the shower water became cold, I moved to the next shower; and then after eight or so minutes of that shower becoming cold, I moved to a third shower. None of the showers had ample water pressure in a town that where it’s been pouring rain for the last few weeks, and where rivers and lakes are abundant. The toilet pressure, however, sounded like a supersonic jet taking off and would reduce the minimal water pressure in the shower even more. The shower water also smelled like sewage. In one of the showers I was forced to use, components were coming away from the wall. As if that were not enough, when I was finally done taking a shower, I plugged in my blow dryer into each of the four outlets in the women’s locker room and nothing was coming out of my blow dryer. After several minutes of this testing, I went into the sink area and saw that there were outlets in there and decided to try. let’s just say the one where the sink area was driest because the sink was out of order. My blow dryer performed wonderfully, so one can only conclude that there was something wrong with all four outlets in the women’s locker room proper. When I went back to the car to meet my husband who had been taking a shower at the same time, he claimed that the men’s locker room has similar issues - low water pressure, water becoming cold quickly, and flickering lights as if he was at a rave the entire time,such that he was afraid he’d have to use the flashlight on his phone to see.

It’s clean, organized, the staff is responsive and pay attention to the clients. They welcome you with a smile, wishing you a good workout and they also acknowledge you when you leave. Best experience in terms of crowd, equipment, staff and cleanliness. Unfortunately, it would be better if all the customers would clean the equipment. I have only seen a very small percentage of people do this. It was nice to see all the TV’s on and a good variety of channels to watch. Well done to the management at the Frisco - Preston Road location. I am curious of this standard remains in the future. So far so good.

This location beats McKinney, not even a comparison. Frisco - University comes in third. This location ties with the Alan location, and may be slightly better because of its size and layout and equipment variety.

Showed up on a sat to get a good pump in. (Was told the gym was 24hrs earlier in the week). Other cars are constantly showing up. But we are told that the gym closed at 7pm. By Gavin (3/8/25) how is the gym open 24hrs, but random choose to close early on random Sat. Which one is it? I’m highly disappointed. Then on top of that, they don’t even check ppl in. That’s completely compromising everyone safety!!! Most sanitation whips arnt available, anyone can walk right in. The list goes on. I just don’t know. Maybe I picked the wrong gym.

Seems a good facility and staff. The posted phone number is useless however: you'll be punished with a 10-30 minute wait and a recorded "offer" to "text your question instead"...?!

After reviewing membership terms I have a serious question concerning ongoing charges. They mention paying in full per year to avoid ongoing charges. But I see no way to do this. It seems they want to keep changing you, while putting a huge burden on you to cancel or stop membership if desired/ needed. This is deeply concerning.

Hello, I’ve been a loyal member at this gym for years, but I’ve recently been disappointed by the behavior of one particular receptionist. On multiple occasions, I’ve been turned away from working out because I supposedly didn’t meet certain rules, even though I’ve been following the same procedures for years without issue. It seems like she’s more focused on reading the rules book than actually assisting members or providing a positive experience. Each time, her attitude comes off as rude and dismissive, which is incredibly frustrating.

It’s disheartening to be treated this way, especially after being a long-time member. I understand rules need to be enforced, but the way this receptionist handles these situations needs to change. I sincerely hope the management addresses this issue so that future interactions can be more respectful and welcoming.

Dear Planet Fitness Manager/Customer Service Team,

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent experience at your Frisco location on Preston.

On December 26, 2024, I visited the facility around 9:00 AM using a guest pass. I was warmly greeted by a staff member at the front desk, an African American gentleman, who kindly shared about his holiday and asked about mine as well. He checked our IDs, processed our guest passes, and mentioned that the pass might also work the following day, suggesting I check to confirm.

On December 27, I noticed that the guest pass displayed the current date, so I assumed it was valid and attempted to visit the club again around the same time. Upon arriving, I successfully checked in and entered the gym. However, I had to step out briefly for a session. When I returned to retrieve my belongings from the locker (11am) I was confronted by a Caucasian staff member, who had assisted me the previous day.

In front of other members, he told me I wasn’t supposed to be there. I tried to explain that I was simply retrieving my bags, but he persisted, making the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. This public confrontation left me feeling humiliated and disrespected.

I understand the need for rules and policies, but the communication regarding the guest pass validity was unclear. The way the situation was handled could have been more professional and considerate, especially since I was not attempting to misuse the pass.

I kindly request that you review this matter and provide clarity on your guest pass policies to prevent similar situations in the future. Additionally, I hope this feedback can help improve customer interactions for a more positive and welcoming experience.

I've been to 3 different planet fitness locations and had a black card membership and the customer service of the Frisco location is terrible. I use the tanning beds after my workouts sometimes and have passed out before in the tanning bed because I have low iron and I am prone to seizures because of this and will always FaceTime my boyfriend when I'm alone tanning or he will come in the room with me. It has never been a issue at any location except it was a issue for the worker named Michael. Yesterday I was tanning and in the middle of it he shut it off and I came out to tell him he said he had canceled my membership because I violated policy, and I told him that I had medical reasons why I needed him in there and he was extremely rude and still CANCELLED my membership for every planet fitnesses. I have multiple medical conditions and it is not Michael's business that I have these conditions. I very clearly told him I had these medical reasons for having someone in there with me. I emailed the managers and they were rude and unaccomadating as well. They said I never mentioned my medical conditions to Michael when I absolutely did. Overall, this gym barely has any good equipment and is not clean. The bathrooms are disguising. And the workers are rude and rarely greet you when you walk in they just stare at you. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Their service is bad. I was repeatedly charged late fees even though I had a working card on file as backup payment as I didn't care for the ACH as they were very aggressive with the charge attempts and costs me multiple overdraft fees on my account. I went in person attempting to pay my fees as it wouldn't process through the app and was assured that it would go through and late fees weren't going to be charged. I was charged anyway and when I went in to address it, they refused to reverse the late charge and told me that late fees are charged if you don't do ACH. This is absurd so I am canceling my membership. I'm curious as to if this happens to anyone else as it is definitely grounds for a lawsuit.

This is the fourth location I've visited. It had, by far, sparsest placement of cleaning stations. Also the largest number of people not wiping the machines down after use and leaving them sweaty. I get hives from the cleaner, but I would rather have hives than staph or scabies, right? Aside from that, it seemed well maintained. Cleanest hydrobeds. The general gym vibe was weird, maybe just a north texas thing.

I was a member here and had to stop going due to an illness. I called multiple times to 'cancel' my membership and they self decided to put it in 'freeze' for some time. They started charging me again and then to realize they are playing this game. Upon call now, I was asked to come in person to cancel my membership. I went 3 times and every time, the manager was off that evening. Others there cannot cancel my membership. Seriously?
They eventually kept deducting membership fees and membership fees post freeze without concensus and made me run around in so many directions to do simple cancelation.

Place is so run down. Half of the machines I wanted to use were broken. They aren't even labeled as broken. It's honestly a safety hazard. Will not be back to this one, but the other locations have been acceptable.

I always enjoy going to work out at Planet Fitness! First of all, I really like the staff. They greet me with a smile and acknowledge me when I leave. The facility is always clean, and I especially like the 30-minute workout zone and messages written everywhere not to be judgmental of others' performance or looks; so important! They keep the equipment up to date and are always available to answer any questions or to help you. Thank you!
