I joined here more than a year ago. I then moved away so could no longer use the gym. Charges never stopped. I tried to see how to cancel. Intentionally Planet fitness does not let you cancel unless you are in person. But I dont live there any longer!!!! Still cannot cancel and they are still charging me. This is fraud

The gym is old and dirty. The equipment is losing its effectiveness, which impacts the quality of workouts. The mats and balls in the ab area are not just unclean; they are filthy. Unless management brings in new machines and upgrade the facility, I don't think you should go to this gym. I don't mind they rise the price. Toss out the old stuff. Bring in new machines, new matt. It's time to change. Currently, everything here looks old and dirty.

I took advantage of the planet fitness on the energy corridor because they were promoting pre open sale for black card membership for 19.99 as opposed to 24.99 at all the other locations. So both my husband and I took advantage and both got the black card membership and are saving 10$ a month for both membership. We live exactly halfway from the Hammerly location and the energy corridor. So we can go to either locations. But because the energy corridor is not opened yet, we’ve been coming to the hammerly location. That’s one of the advantages of being a black card member. I love it here. It’s roomy and exceptionally clean. As opposed to other planet fitness, I actually see staff members walking and cleaning equipments all the time I’m there. Also, I see staff members periodically picking up free weights and putting them in their respectable place, which really shouldn’t be their job, should be the gym members responsibility. Staff members are so friendly and always greets every member that walks in. And greets them as they leave. Again, because the energy corridor is not opened yet, I’m hoping I’ll have the same experience there as I am having here at the Hammerly location. So I’ll definitely give the energy corridor location a great review once they open for business.

I was generally fine with the gym as a whole, but this branch has lost my confidence due to its outdated cancellation policy. Requiring members to cancel their memberships in person because it's "company policy" feels inconsistent and unnecessarily inconvenient.

It’s frustrating that the gym accepts electronic signatures to sign up but insists on pen-and-paper for cancellations. This inconsistency lacks logic and fairness. Policies like these seem designed to make cancellations harder, possibly to dissuade members from leaving — I plan to update this post if true.

From a business perspective, I understand the desire to retain members, but this approach is counterproductive. Instead of hiding behind an incoherent policy, find better ways to encourage loyalty. Modernize the process to allow for electronic cancellations and make the experience seamless for your members.

2/21/25 - Follow-Up
At the time of this update the owner has given their response, and I've reviewed. Two follow-up points:
1. The cancellation process was no more than giving verbal confirmation I wanted to end my membership, then signing an electronic document at the location. Again, this process only served as a barrier to exit. If I signed an electronic document to cancel my membership, then why was it necessary to be at the location in person?
They asked me only once if I would consider renewing.
2. To the owner response: when I first called the location to cancel my membership the staff at this location expressly prohibited online cancelations and never mentioned the possibility of a mail-in cancellation.

In all fairness, I have nothing against the facility's equipment or cleanliness, however, this recent experience has marred what would otherwise be a favorable review.

I am an avid user of this gym. I get in a mind my own business. A few months ago they hired a black personal trainer, Erick Burrell. He has a very black and white way of thinking about gym aesthetics. I understand the importance of safety and formation however, you should NEVER lose customer service skills when speaking with humans. I have witnessed this man speak very unprofessionally, without tact or empathy to customers. I’m guessing he is the gym enforcer. He raises his voice at people and points at equipment and where he wants the equipment to be placed. He speaks in a very authoritative parental role. I am caught off guard with his approach to customers. This gym needs to send him or all staff to customer service training to help identify positive ways to get customers to follow instructions without yelling, pointing, dismissive or degrading behaviors. I will be contacting corporate to report this behavior because it’s opposite of gym expectations by customers. Staff should follow code of ethics as well.

The employees are totally inept and untrained. I signed up June 27 2023 and was scheduled an appointment with trainer at 7:30am for design your own program but instead he had me do arm exercises I then signed up for Monday july1 for new member orientation and when I showed up was told I was not a new member by the trainer and he was not available. When I tried to discuss this with the emp behind the desk the trainer but in and took over the conversation as all bullies do and in order to not get myself in trouble I left

Desde el día 1 que me inscribí me trataron pésimo porque no hablaba inglés sin embargo dije seguro son ideas mías y continué la inscripción luego entré al baño y todos los días sucios papel regado por doquier, otro día me dijeron que mi Cropped Tank era inapropiado según ellos para hacer ejercicios no sé qué tipo de ropa usan para hacer ejercicios en un verano. Y hoy fui a entrenar con mis accesorios de gym en mi bolsa y me dijeron que no podía tenerlo en el piso y de paso se quedó como vigilante detrás de mi dando a entender que me podía hacer de un artículo del gym así que procedo a cancelar la suscripción que me dejaron saber que no les importa pero al menos en la Hammerly Blvd es la peor atención que he recibido. En definitiva coincido con todas las malas calificaciones ya que veo que no buscan manera de mejorar sino que mantienen mala actitud con el cliente que es el que paga.

The concept of gum is good, unfortunately it lacks machines, there are three identical machines for the same muscle group, it makes no sense, you do a series, there is no other, different machine for the same muscle, the chest benches are the same leg and leg machines. shoulder, press there is only one and it is never empty THE PLANET FITNESS, they need to compkemenrar the machines I will return in 24 hours it is much better

This club is very well run. The staff is always friendly and responsive. I am most impressed and have always been, even pre-COVID, at the clean environment that the staff works hard to maintain. I always see someone cleaning machines and maintaining the club. I moved back home to Houston from a small college town in Gainesville Florida. I used Planet Fitness there and I can personally say, that here in the 4th largest US city, this club in Springbranch far and away out performs the Gainesville club that was much smaller, and in what is supposed to be a smaller more friendly town. The staff there was not always friendly and the club was not as clean as this Springbranch location. I can say I am very happy with this location and will not be changing gyms as long as I am living in this area. Thank you!

Horrible club with terrible customer service. Equipment always broken as are most water machines. After moving away, the club would not let me cancel my membership via phone or email so I had to wait weeks to come back in town and cancel - not surprising, they charged me my annual fee two days before coming back in town and refused to refund it because it’s not possible. Complete scam by planet fitness who loved to pretend to be about the customer. Avoid this gym and planet fitness in general

ADDING NOTE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER BELOW: Note the response from the owner and the lack of awareness of the issue above. They require a "signature" for cancellation, but for someone who has moved, how is that possible? You can see they then say "certified mail"... all while they are charging me an annual fee during the time period that this all happens in. It's horrible business practice and borderline fraudulent to make someone go through this massive process to cancel a membership, and any business or company with any sort of ethics would get an email seeing someone is trying to cancel and not charge the an annual fee for a gym they aren't going to use and that they claim is non-refundable. The owners response tells you all you need to know about how this gym treats customers - They want to make your life as difficult as they can if you want to cancel and will try and charge you a fee during the process to make a few extra bucks. Like I said, avoid at all costs - Also, you'll note they tell me to reach out to the home clubs manager which I did, twice. Not only did he mock me on the phone, but he specifically stated that they wont refund the annual fee (which would be pretty simple) and that they've never done it. So they are fine charging me an annual fee starting March 5th for a year I won't use. Horrible company

The establishment looks clean but doesn’t seem to be in order. I know not all member do their part of putting back things where they belong, however I believe that’s the reason you have employees. Some items are not in their place and employees are no where to be found. I was trying to purchase a beverage after my workout and I stood at the desk for not less than 10 mins and no one came to take my payment. I left the item on the counter, since it seemed they were not willing to come out the office to attend me. I also called the phone to see if they’ll come out and answer but no one came. Luckily this is not close to my house so I doubt I’ll be here soon.
