Equipment is usually out of service, they never enforce their policies allowing people to abuse the equipment resulting in said complaint. Bathrooms are always filthy. Paper towel and sprayers are always empty for wiping down equipment. The staff is constantly late causing gym to be closed during normal business hours.

Been going there for a few years now. Since they started offering teenagers get in free during the summer I have noticed a few things:
Machines seemed to be unusable because they are being misused.
Some teenagers seem to be just "hanging out" and not actually working out. Probably easier than meeting somewhere else.
Teenagers are just using the machines sometimes to just sit on and not work out.
Since family fitness closed this location has become very busy and it is shameful that the actual members cannot come in and do a workout without dealing with this.
In addition, for some reason the fans just turn off. Not sure why these have to turn off at sometimes the most warmest time of the day. If I ask the staff will turn back on. Just inconvenient if you are already working out.
I have always noticed the place is clean and it is nice that they updated the machines, including getting bike spinners. Wish they had more ceiling fans to keep the air moving. Sometimes with all the members it can get a little stinky.
I will agree with the other review that some of the members can be rude but that is the society we live in.

I have been a member 3 years now. The gym recently installed new equipment this year.. Due to schedule and job, I don't use the workout equipment but I do use the Hydrobed due to work. For me personally that alone is worth the Black card membership level. Plus the hot showers, and wifi. The gym is clean and has a very friendly staff IMHO and personal experience through attendance. I attend as regular as my hours and personal schedule allows. On average at least once a week.

I am very disappointed. Me and my sister went in there a few days ago, and it was super dirty. How can one acquire to be so dirty. The manager Melissa was very rude and super unprofessional seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing and for Jordan to be a worker there, he seemed very clueless as well.

I had a terrible experience at Planet Fitness in Lake Jackson, Texas. After I canceled my subscription, they took $50 out of my account without my consent. When I reached out to resolve the issue, they told me I couldn’t get my money back because I had an overdue balance. This is really frustrating and feels unfair. I expected better customer service. I travel to many locations— this is the only location I’ve ever taken a shower at where you must put your items on the ground because they don’t have shower caddies to hold your items— that’s not cool…. And the handicap stall water would not get hot… all others would— this is the only stall that had a place to put your stuff that wasn’t on the floor. I’ve seen many locations with the cheap ones from dollar tree— please do better. Thanks

Planet Fitness in Lake Jackson Tx decided not to open this morning. We finally began leaving around 6:25am. This is the second time in my short membership this happened. Did not report or review the first time. Corporate number gets you to an 'ethics' line where they only take complaints on employees. Our local 'manager' line gets you to an 'end line message', or during the day a 'gauntlet' of defense [in my experience] against talking to a manager.

I am leaving this review from the experience of someone that travels full time, and uses Planet Fitness to work out/stay healthy, and to shower.

This location is massive, however is horribly laid out.

Way too many cardio machines!

I was surprised at how busy this place was at noon on a Tuesday, and I had to adjust my workout accordingly.

The free weight/smith machine area is claustrophobic.

Weird issues happening with the lights flickering, some kind of electrical issue I guess….

Couldn’t use the tanning bed because of this issue.

My only disagreement with the other reviews is that the locker room shower area was actually quite nice, and the water was hot.

Several years have passed and still no exhausts fans in the men's locker room/shower/ toilet area. It's humid and disgusting smelling. Exhaust fans could easily be wired into the lights circuit. The whole lunk alarm sign is in complete contrast as to what their mission statement is. Everyone is welcome and a no judgement zone (except Ricky and those guys). Stop with the nonsense of not judging while actually judging, get some exhaust fans already. Look at these terrible reviews and actually try to resolve some issues instead of posting a reply asking reviewers to reach out to you, just address the issues stated.

One of the managers of this gym, Nick, was wildly inappropriate. I asked to use a hydro massage table after waiting up front for several minutes. He said one would be ready in two minutes.

I went back up to the front fifteen minutes later and waited another couple minutes. I was told this group of three was waiting.

I calmly mentioned I had asked fifteen minutes earlier. The older group said they could use the chairs.

The younger employee who had arrived was calm, but Nick walked back and said you walked away so you lost your spot. I calmly said why not use a list or pagers or texts if there is a wait.

He said it has only ever been a problem with you. This a hole actually then threatened to call the cops on me. I had not even raised my voice. At the very end as I was leaving I did flip him off because I was completely flabbergasted.

I have never been treated worse in my life by a customer service representative. All the guy had to do was say I am sorry. He could have done a million things to not escalate what for the most part was a very calm situation.

In my humble opinion, Nick should not have a role facing customers. The gym should train their employees better, and if waits are a common issue, use a queue of some sort to keep things fair and not waste people's time and happiness.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Planet Fitness in Lake Jackson, Texas. I was genuinely excited to work out here while traveling, but this visit was nothing short of unpleasant.

First and foremost, the showers were in an unacceptable condition. There was visible black mold growing in the grout, and it was very unsettling to see this in a facility that promotes cleanliness. The air in the locker room was humid and musty, which only made the situation worse. It’s clear that proper maintenance and sanitation aren’t a priority here, and for a gym that’s supposed to be welcoming, this was a huge letdown.

Additionally, the atmosphere was anything but friendly. Some of the customers were incredibly rude and dismissive. I witnessed a few interactions between members that were unnecessarily hostile, and it created an unwelcoming vibe throughout the gym. I even overheard a few condescending remarks directed at other members, which seemed to go unchecked by staff.

The musty smell throughout the gym added to the overall unpleasantness. It didn’t feel like a place that took pride in maintaining a positive or hygienic environment. While I understand that no facility is perfect, this Planet Fitness left much to be desired.

I would not recommend this location to anyone looking for a clean, welcoming gym experience. They seriously need to address the cleanliness of their showers and create a more inclusive and positive environment for all members.

As we’ve traveled we’ve stop at this planet fitness twice. First time welcoming workers, but the showers need some TLC bad and all the small trash cans were full. Went back a week later the workers weren’t bad, showers now even smelt mildewy, hooks and shower nozzles were very loose. It isn’t a bad PF but the locker rooms could definitely be maintained a lot better. I’ll save you from sad photos in hopes they make effort in changing a few things.

I like this location, generally. A few things I've noticed..
The good:
- Staff is friendly and professional, never annoyed by customers
- General vibe is pretty chill, mix of all kinds of people just minding their business and fitness goals
- Relatively clean, logically organized
- Tons of parking
The bad:
- Some of the equipment is malfunctioning. Specifically, the kickback machine is in dire need of repair. Some of the main floor resistance machines are bent as well.
- Everything is worn and older than other gyms, and It seems like they are overdue for an upgrade.
- Extremely popular and frequently crowded. I think it would be worth it to open another in Angleton or Bay City

I had a membership with my insurance, and had cancelled it. Insurance told me, dont worry about it we’ll take care of it. The memberships at the other gyms were cancelled. The best rating for this gym is ZERO! When registering for membership on the website, you enter specific information which consists of a credit card and bank information. In this case, everything remains on the site for further payments. We haven’t been to this gym for even a month and immediately there is a problem with payment. Despite the fact that there were no problems during registration and the payment went through the bank details in full. When we asked for clarification, at first the young man very politely explained that there was a problem with the bank and said that we should contact the manager who was at dinner at 5 pm. We called back 30 minutes later and when we tried to figure out the situation and explain that all info was entered correctly and the first payment was successful, but for unknown reasons the second payment did not go through and you were immediately charged a late fee and we asked if it’s possible remove the late fee since this It was clearly not a mistake on the client’s part, the young girl began to answer rudely that no one would remove the late fee and immediately asked, are you going to close the membership??? Is this even normal? The entire conversation was recorded and will be transmitted to the main office so that they can know how the assistance of the manager communicates with people in this gym!!!

Being disabled and attempting to regain proper mobility and functionality it’s very disheartening to have an individual approach me, use profanities due to the nature of my training making the environment very unsafe in addition to uncomfortable. Having to plead with staff to ensure the situation is resolved with no more conflict just for the individual to follow myself and wife to the front for more hostility and confrontation in front of staff. I walked out of the facility and really unsure if it’ll be worthwhile to return. Doesn’t feel safe knowing people will make a fight and follow after staff had a discussion with them just to make more hostility in front of the very staff that talked with them. Don’t know if the staff discussed with the person, but I will make sure the congregation and others know my experience while attempting to improve my disability. This is upsetting given planet was my go to fitness facility for recovery.

Only one problem and it's the biggest! My yearly dues went up 69% in one year!! Unacceptable. From $29/yr to $49/yr. I'm on a fixed income (SS) and I'm only getting a 3.8% COLA increase in 2024. So in essence, my monthly cost went up over 13%! That amounts to price gouging!

This is a good gym, my only issue is that because of my job I usually like to go to workout later in the night. After workouts, I usually like to finish with the hydro massage and sometimes tanning beds. However, I haven’t been able to do this much recently because there’s never an employee at the front desk to cut on the machines. I was informed by someone the first time that he was in the electrical room so I figured he may be busy doing something. However this has now been going on multiple nights including the last 3. I don’t want to assume and say he’s hiding at work but there should be no reason that the front desk isn’t attended every night. At this point I have a black card membership strictly for working out only which wasn’t my intention when I signed up.

I would have given a 5 star, but there are all different walks of life inside, and that is awesome. The only problem with that is that some people just come to look at other people for one reason or, well, you know another. You also have a lot of older women, well I can't say that because that's not completely true. There are a lot of people who just sit on one machine the entire time, taking on the phone or drinking water and looking at other people while the workouts, instead of doing it themselves and there are a lot of machines to pick from. The awesome thing about this place is the staff and the hydro laying down massage and their tanning room's. Everything is clean and in excellent condition. It's got a few flaws, but who doesn't. If you buy the all exclusive membership, it says you can share it with your spouse, but they have to be with you at all times to get in. Now, that was a dirty trick, and it's even on the website that you can do that.

I just joined in December and before I joined I read some of the reviews about horror stories of not being able to cancel memberships. I was pretty surprised that they scammed me right off the bat. So I paid the $50 membership set up fee and they charged me the $10 monthly fee 2 weeks later, so far so good. At the beginning of January they charged me a late fee of $15. I called several times to ask about the late fee and eventually I talked to the manager who explained the late fee was because they weren't able to charge my account right away (even though a few days later that's exactly what happened). So 2 weeks after they charged me for the monthly fee they charge me a late fee. Bottom line is that just flat out charged me an extra $15 for no reason and they won't refund it. In the big scheme of things $15 is no big deal but it's just the principle that irks me. My advice: avoid this place, they will steal your money any chance they get.
