I just changed my rating for PF on 8-26-2025. I like the Cedar Park location better than Leander because it's spacious, has more equipment and love the atmosphere. The Manager at the Leander location is very rude. She asked for my phone number one day instead of waiting for me to use my phone to clock in. Nobody at PF had ever asked for my phone number before . I told her that this is my second year as a BLACK CARD member, she said that she has been a Mgr. there 4 years. I discussed this with her and I felt intimidated. I suggest that the female Mgr. at the Leander location get staff training in customer service, because after all I help to pay her salary along with the other staff the work at Planet Fitness.

Update on 2025-09-16:
Well, imagine my surprise when I showed up to the gym this morning and found three brand new upright bikes. Internal resistance was almost eerily smooth. And it seems someone at the establishment read my review as, while I did request a staff members attention a week after the posting of the last review to go over the state of their upright bikes just to adhere to the previous business response, I didn't actually mention the loose handle on the abdominal, but that is now also secured. I'll actually revise this review when I have some more minutes to spare, but it's a good day for my PF.

Review on 2025-07-19:
Pros are convenience of location, cost, cleanliness, friendliness of staff. And I can't say any of that isn't valuable, so along with the fact this is indeed a building with gym equipment it fills three stars.

But I have to say convenience seems to be doing too much of the heavy lifting on my pros list.

As others have pointed out, there is no routine maintenance program at this gym. If a pad starts cracking you can bet it will be at least a month before it's replaced. In my few years going to this location, there was once a continuous three month period of an abdominal machine hosting an "out of order sign." The machine I switched to then, and still currently use, has one handle that rotates to this day when both should absolutely be fixed in place.

But my greater gripe at this point is the upright bikes where there is one of five that is good for a comfortable enough biking session. Three of the other five have unsecured foot pedals, shaking side to side or up and down, rather than just rotating on their axis and the internal wheels all have some grind on them creating inconsistent resistance and unpleasant feedback (even my one ok condition bike has some grind). Actually, the one with the worst secured pedal does seem to have the best condition internals, but the required constant side ways pressure through a session to keep it relatively secured definitely outweighs that. This has been the state of these bikes for months though, which is to say there is never a cycle where machines are routinely checked for functionality.

So basically, a fairly cost effective, but get what you pay for, establishment.

I had a fantastic experience at Planet Fitness in Leander, thanks to Amon. He was incredibly professional, always greeting me with a friendly smile. His helpfulness stood out as he was eager to assist with any questions I had. It's clear that he genuinely cares about the members and their fitness journeys. Be aware you will be hit with a $60 annual fee the 25th of your second month! I was not informed of this and only needed a membership for two months but now out $60 for what was supposed to be $1 the first month and $29 the second month. So if you sign up in June, cancel before the 25th of August. That might not be clear when you sign up.

As someone who has worked and visited many gyms, this planet fitness falls short. There are only a few stair masters (a hot commodity) and at least 1 or 2 are always out of order. The free weight area is slim pickings especially if you go at a busy time. There are maybe 2-3 kettlebells to choose from. The TRX straps are grimey and could use a good cleaning.

If there is any kind of personal training happening, you will feel pushed out of the space you're working out in.

They don't have many locations unlike other gyms so even if you get the black card, it's not convenient unless you live right next to a planet Fitness.

They have a high school summer pass that allows high schoolers to workout for free which is a nice gesture but if you workout during the day, it will be filled with groups of highschoolers during the summer. I don't know what it's like after school starts since I've cancelled my membership after being hit with the annual fee (I'm moving too far from a planet fitness).

Overall, go to PF if you're a high schooler for the summer, and join if you're planning to stay at least a year to make the annual fee worth it.

Nice facility! Well maintained with Lots of options. There are lots of tv’s if you’re into that while you work out. The bathroom/locker area was nice and clean too. Kinda busy some times but when it’s empty it’s so much quieter. The massage chairs they have are ok. I wouldn’t mind if they got some better ones. I haven’t tried the hydro massager but it’s intriguing. We will definitely keep going.

Small gym compared to other locations. Machines are always out of order and takes weeks maybe months to get fixed. Staff allows high schoolers to play around with the machines. Very crowded during summer time. Not sure how deeply they clean each machine. I got a rash on one of the ab machines that just wouldn’t go away. It was the one where you rotate your torso. The reason I know it happened at this machine from THIS PF is because you could tell the rash stopped right where I had my arm folded while on machine.

I have been going to this gym as a black card guest member for many months. Often enough, the main card holder is not present and I simply swipe in by myself. This had happened many times without a hitch. Today when I went in to work out (black card member would be arriving late) I was told by the front desk attendant that I couldn't work out without the main cardholder present. Being hyped up on pre-workout, I had to collect my thoughts on how to respond to this seemingly sudden change/implementation of policy. I returned to the desk to ask for a day pass, and was surprised as the young man, of dark complexion and covered in gold jewelry, at the register, rather aggressively, said it would be 20 dollars. Pf used to be $10 monthly for a membership, so I was shocked at this extortionary price. I asked to speak to the manager so that I could explain my confusion, when the man proudly exclaimed that he held the role. I told him that I would go ahead and buy a pass, but he immediately said he wouldn't sell me a pass because I was disprespecting him. I had to explain that I meant no disrespect. I was surprised at today's quality of service, usually the attendants are very kind, considerate, and patient. Not this time.

So many machines in this gym sit for a long measure of time in a state of disrepair. Seats on various equipment are worn and loose on their fittings. Bolts are often found backed-out of their threads. Someone should walk through the gym and inspect these (maybe torque them down?) instead of hanging out at the front desk all day.

A pattern of behavior is evidenced by other recent reviews. Hoping they do something about this guy.

I was in Cedar Park for business and have visited three Planet Fitness locations. The Leander PF was, by far, my favorite. The desk people were friendly and efficient. The facility was bright, clean, and laid out well for the space. The tanning bed in the Black Card spa had good bulbs. If you're looking for a gym, check this one out.

I love this location. The employees are welcoming and the gym equipment has a great layout. I’m confused about some of the signs (no personal training allowed?) and I wish the rules were a little more clear for the members.

The tanning beds need some new lights and massage chairs need maintenance (loud squeaks!) but I still love having these services available and use them every time I can!

going to this gym for years , never have any issue , staff and manager very nice but the new assistant manager named DANTE have zero customer service skills but just have all the attitude of the world , will blame you for anything and then keep following you in the whole gym , keeping an eye on you like a babysitter for the whole session, if you ask or say something , he will just say one thing "I will cancel your membership and I will kick you out of the gym "

The employees at the Leander Planet Fitness are pleasant and friendly. The women's locker room showers and dressing room and floors are dirty and not vacuum and disinfected like they claim they are. There is moldy floors in the dressing room and some of the grout has mold. Please, hire more staff in order to provide a sanitary bathroom, shower and dressing area.

I’ve been attending the LA Fitness gym in Leander for 5 years and have never experienced an uncomfortable situation—until now. Unfortunately, it involved a new assistant manager named DIANTE T., whose behavior was extremely disappointing. He lacks customer service skills and carries himself with an arrogant attitude that doesn’t align with the welcoming and respectful environment this community values.

DIANTE making members feel uncomfortable rather than supported. His personality and attitude are not a good fit for the culture that this gym has maintained for years. I strongly encourage management to hire assistant managers that can demonstrate excellent customer service—something DIANTE clearly lacks.

Experience is great, the people staff, the environment. However the assistant manager DIANTE was very rude and disrespectful. First time bringing a guest she accidentally dropped the weight on the smith machine he came up to us and told us to be careful that they are delicate weights after seeing and witnessing they were dropped accidentally by a first time goer. I went to the front desk to politely say that I didn’t appreciate the way we were approached and got told to leave he “he wasn’t going to waste his time talking to me” I dont leave many reviews, but this was unbelievable.

Poor customer service! Their team sends emails to consumers for free day pass and all! I had the pass to enter and I scanned and still they wanted me to pay for entering and the people at reception were to adamant! Instead of listening to me, they wasted my time. Their equipments are also not that great! The only advantage they have is of their location.

I already showed the QR code with my name on to enter that day! I don't know what your social team is going to do when your team at reception is not letting people go inside and acces the gym

Recently Planet Fitness has been great… new equipment, better morning staff and cleanliness is much better… my only complaint is the barbells only go up to 75lbs. I know it’s probably bigger issues but I visited a few other PF gyms and notice their barbells go up to 120lbs. Please try to add some more weights…

Loved this planet fitness for years until they got new managers. the new manager is on a power trip, constantly kicking people out for stupid reasons. I loved this location for the sole reason that the staff was nice and friendly, and would always make conversation and do anything they could to make you have a better experience. Now the new manager has a problem with everybody that walks in. and constantly makes little remarks everytime he kicks people out, other then that tho this planet fitness is amazing!

Planet fitness Leander, Texas is not that great of the gym. The Worst part is they keep taking money out of my account when they’re not supposed to. They’ve overcharged me in the last year $282. I brought it to their attention Yesterday and they told me I need to go to my bank and dispute the charges instead of returning my money to my bank. This location required my nephew to sign a lengthy contract that states all cancellations must be submitted in writing and they charge a cancellation fee of 59.00. From what I have gathered this cancellation charge is specific to the location and not a company policy. Be careful when deciding which fitness club to join because this Planet Fitness dictates their own policies and does not follow those of corporate.

Unfortunately this location does not regularly maintain its black card membership area equipment. Several tanning beds along with total body have several bulbs out. This many bulbs do not go bad all at once. Especially if maintained on a regular cadence. I’ve brought this up to staff a few weeks earlier and the issue was not addressed. Gym is much smaller than other planet fitness locations and all their workout equipment and black card area equipment is older generation. On a good note this gym is conveniently located and always clean. Staff is extremely helpful and kind.

I have been a member here for couple years now. Staff is nice. Facilities are generally clean. It is a smaller club with older equipment compared to other PFs but super convenient for me. My gripe is lack of repairs and upkeep. These pads started cracking in Dec. First pic was taken mid Jan other 2 weeks ago. Last checked was 4 days ago and it is only getting worse. And gross at this point! Many of the machines have lost their labels on the weight increments so you have to count up or down to figure it out. At one time they did not have a single row machine out of 3 working and God help us when the ac goes out. Please pay more attention to this little club!

*UPDATE... the pads have been replaced!

This is a great little gym and super convenient for me which is the first thing I need to get my butt there regularly! They just need to have a better eye on repairs and issues.

I can’t get past the fact that Planet Fitness REQUIRES your banking account and routing information. This is a huge red flag. There’s absolutely no reason Planet Fitness can’t take a credit or debit card, or at least take a full year’s membership paid up front. Also, the promotion’s they advertise are false. The numbers are much more inflated when you get to checkout. I would love to hear something more than a generic answer from Planet Fitness as to why they REQUIRE our bank account information and CANNOT accept banking cards for reoccurring payments.

The only thing is, please get rid of that candy bucket on your counter. It makes it look like you want customers for life. You probably do, but why be so blatant about it? This is an ok gym if you're mostly interested in cardio. They don't have enough equipment for someone that wants to focus on lifting, AND they do a summer promotion where teenagers can workout for free. So what little equipment they do have is overrun by groups of teens who often aren't even really using it.
If you're looking for a budget gym this is good. If you're serious about lifting, you're probably better off at gold's or the like.

I would give it 5 stars if the AC worked better in the massage chair and hyrdo-massage rooms and the hydrobed would stop breaking down on me. I've only been a member for a month and haven't been able to use it at least 5 times, either because it would stop after a minute or two or the staff told me they weren't working. Also, the massage chairs are too aggressive, even on the lowest setting.

Loved this gym until they put in new, enormous fans. It’s like a wind tunnel in here. Maybe other people are into that. I’m very much not though. Like, it messes with the noise cancellation on my AirPods, it’s so bad.

UPDATE after 3 years, This place has become a real pain. They have taken out ellipticals and not replaced. The have equipment broken for weeks without repair. The air conditioner and now the lights...twice this week the power has been off at 5am when I arrived. Team was there and supportive saying I could go to the one in Cedar Park, but I have no interest nor the time in adding 30min r/t to a gym trip before work. I will be looking for another gym.

But it gets busy at 5am on Mondays but I haven't been any other day at that time yet. As a 44 y/o women who easily destracted more than 15 people is busy for me. However there were plenty of open machines if your not lifting unlike me and my work out buddy. Where weight training not doing any cardio at gym. Do enough of that at home and at work. Lol

I really like planet fitness because it’s economical and yet have quality equipments. Staff are helpful and polite.

I just wish they reorganize the weights area as it gets a bit cramped during rush hours.

Great gym to make a routine in. I check the app to see how busy it is when I am in the neighborhood. My 6am & 4pm workouts are not super busy.
