First day as a new member. As others have said, great equipment and pretty clean. I had to leave after 30 mins...I just COULD NOT get into my mental workout zone. I could not focus. WHY??? Their music is TO LOUD. I have my in-ear buds pushed in and turned ALL the way up and you can still hear their music. Very distracting to have to listen to two styles of music. Their 80's bubble gum music is not workout music. Who lifts iron to Madonna's Material Girl??? They do. So I ordered a new set of full ear headphones with noise cancelling. If they don't make their music go away I will have to cancel my membership.
Yes, I did notify the front desk staff twice about the music. Seems they can't turn it down...and there. was no manager on duty.
Will update once the new headphones arrive this week.

I have been several planet fitness locations around the west and the Northwest. This particular one in mission was very convenient, clean and well laid out. There is lots of all types of equipment from treadmills to stairs and weights. I'll be going back on a regular basis I'm glad to say that I have this facility to come to. I might add the staff with Siri helpful I had a couple of questions being new to this location and my queries were addressed forth with.

Mission PF is clean, the staff are all extremely nice and helpful. I would give 5 stars, however, there are way, way too many people sitting on a machine not working out and on their phones…Especially in the 30 minute circuit area. People are supposed to follow the light and move, but they will sit there for long periods of time not working out and using their phone. They then get upset if you ask them if you can use their machine for one set.

My solution is either to put benches along wall so people can sit in their phones there, or have staff constantly watching and move them along. Unfortunately, that would probably entail having to hire more staff.

If i could give this gym zero stars I would. Genuinely the worst planet fitness I’ve ever been to. I’m sitting on the only available preacher curl machine which by the way is broken, like most of their equipment, they’ve had a hole in their wall for over a month and moved the equipment to the smallest room they had, genuinely one of the worst clubs. Please don’t spend your money here, only one leg extension works, most of their equipment is not well kept and genuinely looks bad.

Also they’ve gotten absolutely no new equipment up at all, so don’t make this your home club, the restrooms are also bad, just don’t.

Great place to workout by all means. Great space, great equipment. Just feel like it's kind of useless to offer rockbot services but have so much music blocked for content. I only say this because it's done so inconsistently. There is music that is vulgar allowed while there is music that is pretty clean not allowed for content reasons. You can suggest for it to be reviewed but it never is. One annoying thing is to come workout being a black card member, taking the time to download rockbot, suggest and request but nothing is available. All of Drake's music is allowed as is but not any J. Cole? It's just really inconsistent.

I always go with my son without a problem but today 2 employees at the desk immediatly stopped me saying i can not bring my son in asking me how old he was and asking if i was sure, like really. Then they proceed to tell me thwy need proof and want to see my sons birth of certificate. And i askd them like ok what next whats the process thwy basically said that i needed proof and then they take a picture of my son so they can tell the manager about it. Then proceed to say its in the policy when i asked them about picture of my son and all that they stated. I wasnt even mad but suprised about this. Ive been here and to many other planet fitness and never ran to this issue. They stated that the owner has his own rules idk but owell just giving a 1 star for that. Clean gym but have waited several times by front desk for over 20min and nobody shows up to scan me in to use black card amenities. Pointless in paying for black card membership if I can never use it. Horrible !!
On another occasion when someone was present they assigned me to a chair that was being used and instead of giving me another chair they wanted me to wait til they were finished. Shame because I think this facility has so much potential but service is what it lacks.

Months later : waiting outside with several other members as gym is closed. Nobody in parking lot seems to know why it hasn’t opened and some members have been waiting over an hour in their vehicles.

Urgent Concerns Regarding Safety and Harassment at Mission Planet Gym

I am a resident of McAllen and a member of Mission Planet Gym. I am writing to address some important concerns that I have encountered during my time at the gym.

I made the decision to switch from my previous gym in McAllen to Mission Planet due to the gym’s reputation for cleanliness, an abundance of exercise equipment, and shorter waiting times. The gym’s 24-hour access, spacious facilities, and diverse range of workout machines greatly appealed to me. However, despite these advantages, I have serious concerns about working out at the gym after 7 pm.

Since switching gyms in early January this year, my 15-year-old daughter and I have experienced harassment issues from male members at the gym. To provide my teenagers and myself with access to Mission Planet, I have invested in three black card memberships, and I don’t mind the 25-minute drive to the gym. I have brought the issue of harassment to the attention of the gym’s employees in the past, but unfortunately, the problem has persisted. This led me to discontinue my gym visits for several months.

Recently, I decided to return to the gym with my daughter, and we have once again encountered harassment. This time, I was at the gym from 7 to 10 pm, and I felt extremely uncomfortable as I was followed from one workout station to another. It has become clear to me that the gym requires more than one staff member working at night and enhanced security measures. Typically, the individuals working during the nighttime shifts are recent high school graduates who may not possess the necessary experience or training to handle such situations effectively.

Additionally, I wanted to bring to your attention that I have been followed from the gym’s parking lot on multiple occasions, even while driving home. I have had to resort to visiting local police stations to lose the individual pursuing me, which has added to the distress and anxiety of my gym experiences.

I kindly request that you address these concerns promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of all members, especially during the evening hours. Your assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Great gym. I took advantage of their 1 dollar signup and 10 dollar a month plan about 3 weeks ago. I was not disappointed. They have plenty of NEW machines and I really like the 4 giant ceiling fans that keep the air circulating. Gym is very clean and very large. They have specialty areas like a quick workout and calisthenics area as well as free weights. The morning crowds are manageable and I have not had to wait for a machine so far. They are open 24/hrs a day so no more waiting at the front door at 5 AM. I have had memberships in other local gyms off and on since the early 1990's and this one is the best so far.

Having all brand new equipment is awesome! Unfortunately, their TV situation is wack...but it is the Valley so 2nd rate is normal right?
I've been to PF gyms in Denver, San Antonio, Detroit, Austin, Dallas, Little Rock, Houston, Tennessee, Indiana, Weslaco, Chicago, Corpus. San Angelo and more places...

So a few people who gave bad reviews are not reliable feedback...Guests of Black Card Members are not supposed to use the Black Card Lounge. Some workers do let you...but that doesn't mean it's not a rule.

And PF is famous for just having Smith Machines and not free weights for bench and squat...if you didn't know that you haven't been paying attention.

And really? What if everybody rode their bike to the Gym and wanted to ride their bike inside the gym?

Some guy complaining because he wants to tan on Christmas, not work out at all...but forgot his eye protectors? So yea give the Gym a 1 rating?

Planet Fitness became the biggest Gym in America without you guys...be happy you have one here in Mission finally.
