I just wanted to comment on one of the pictures posted at this gym. It’s the one of a guy who truly understands how to look so absolutely cool out in public. I mean who would have ever thought to wear half camo pants paired with a blue shirt that clash so bad it deserves its own conflict name such as “The Planet Fitness Conflict of 2020.” But wait, you have to wear shoes to the gym right? Why bother with some tennis shoes, that’s lame you gotta go with the untied open WWF wrestling shoes. As you stand there looking at yourself in the mirror, you think “hmmmm there’s something I’m missing here. “ 💡I’ve got an idea” as the sunglasses slide over your ears and come to rest upon the bridge of your nose you step back and look at yourself again in the mirror and say “Bingo!” That’s exactly the look I was going for. Those words were actually thought or even said out loud. Lmao. “Wait wait wait, hold up just a minute. What am I working out today? Oh yeah arms! Well duh I’m going to need the weight belt to pull in my gut to look like I have a V taper to my body.” And that my friends is by definition of how to make other people make expressions on their faces they’ve never made before as they say to themselves “Is he wearing… wait a minute …..are those…. why would anyone ….. does he have electricity….. all homes come with a mirror right… he’s an adult correct…..was the clown costume store having a sale…..awww forget it, I must be having a nightmare.”

Been with this gym for over an year now. Staff is rude at times and this has happened twice to me, today the latest one. Their equipments are out of order for eg today the climbers two of them were out of order. The third one is always out of order for a long time. This happens we understand but not for a longer duration of time. Also always the issue come in hydro massage. Somehow the staff feel that they are doing a big favor to us by starting the hydro massage. Few weeks back when I went and asked for hydro massage, the staff asked me to say “please”. Why the hell should I say please when I’m the one who is paying 30$ for their facility? And today the person at the front desk was so frustrated to switch on the hydro massage. He said my fav. machine was engaged and when I went in it was free. When I went back and told him then he switched it on after yelling at me. I kept my cool but the hydro massage stopped inbetween. Now when asked he says I already told you it’s not working. I told him very clearly that this is not the way to treat a customer and he says there’s camera everywhere. What the hell!! Anyhow I’m going to discontinue this and join EOS. Thanks for reading !!

Worst / oldest/ most basic cardio equipment I've ever seen at a Planet Fitness. Only 4 stairmasters, very un-ergonomic and when though i go level 13 forward and back all the time, the seem rails, etc seemed treacherous. Same w treadmill, elliptical. And, only FOUR stairmasters. I signed a contract for their personal training program for my daughter a month ago after being given incomplete and misleading verbal info. I mentioned several times during and after the registration process that I would have to cancel when school started in August but was not warned at any point about any buy-out fees or told that this program didn't suit my needs.

In fact, these fees were only mentioned in full numbers when I handed in a written cancellation letter. Upper management falsely claimed that the personal trainer I booked with explained everything and that a manager was present for the full conversation, which is not true. In reality, the manager wasn't part of the conversation. I have a witness.

Their response here only links to a general policy, which does not excuse the deceptive verbal sales tactics or false claims. Another customer's Google review of this location points out similar issues.

This violates the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (Tex. Bus. & Comm. Code §17.46(a)):
"False, misleading, or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce."

After two unhelpful calls with Mark and Mrs. Summer, I've escalated this to corporate and legal channels.

Overall, I would say that I had a very poor experience with Planet Fitness Plano. I am writing this review as a warning.

If you are looking for help from the staff I would say go elsewhere. Apparently the manger is the only person that knows pricing info. If you ask detailed questions will be told to sign up through the website. I signed up through my insurance went into location on a Friday was told only person that could get me signed up was their manager who would not be back in until Monday. I went to another location got signed up within 10 minutes so good to know that some locations actually take the time to train their staff. Richardson location but cleaner, better equipment, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Overall a very good fitness gym, but only annoying part, they will keep asking to add alternate payment method every often, eventhough i have provided alternate payment method multiple times, sometimes they won't let you enter gym also that's even more annoying.

So I have transitioned between the Plano location on Centrall Expy and here in Allen. Pros and Cons to both. Plano has more equipment by far but older, however I like this location for that more. Even though machines are older, having a variety and more of of each type is nicer. Allen has newer equipment and I like their elliptical more but there just isn't enough variety. Stand up Tanning in Plano is nicer as well but the bulbs in Allen are much stronger. Both locations need to do a better job of cleaning the tanning and massage equipment. I have done as through as a job at each location but it is clear a lot of people don't bother so it should be up to each location to ensure clean equipment. All In all, each location has what is necessary.

Generally the staff is pretty decent, but today there was just 1 guy. I went up to ask about trying the red light thing and if he could show me how to use it, but I had wait for him to use the machine in the lobby and put his shoes back on before he acknowledged me, then he said it goes to 12 minutes how many minutes do u want? Then he offered me eye wear and told me to just press the power button... I have no idea if I even did a red light treatment today, since I have never used the machine before. It was on (maybe) when I got back there. There were lights and air blowing & music playing. When I stepped in and pushed the power button nothing changed. It did all turn off several minutes later...idk if it was 12? I mean, if I had ever used the thing before, I wouldn't have asked to be shown how to use it, but apparently he only had attention for the things he wanted to use today and I bothered him.

I went online to sign up for a black card and I entered my credit card information and my banking information and was shown how much I paid. But when I went in the next day they said that the application process wasn't complete, so I missed out of the 3 specials: $1 setup fee, 1st month free & no monthly commitment. The corporate office does not train the employees to handle customer complaints. The club gives you an email address to a Joe Lagrenade but he never responds or calls you back. So if Planet Fitness messes something up you have no recourse on getting it fixed. The customer service number tells you to go to the club and the managers in the club say talk to their boss. So now I'm about $150 overcharged for memberships that I didn't sign up for and have no one to speak to about it. I'm sure this is not the normal experience but it's the experience I have had. Good Luck if you sign up with Planet Fitness.

This Planet Fitness is always clean and the staff is helpful and accommodating. They’re always well staffed so if I have a question or request for something in the “Black Card” area it’s addressed cheerfully and quickly.

The equipment is always well maintained, it’s a very large gym and it’s rare to see an ‘out of order sign’. I’ve never had to wait to use any cardio equipment and rarely, during the busiest days/times, have waited a few minutes for the most popular weight equipment.

This isn’t a body builder gym. It’s clear, based on the equipment, the gym is best used for getting in shape and staying in shape; not bulking up. For example, the heaviest dumbbells are 75 lbs and instead of having a standard rack for bench press weights they use smith machines which are safer and easier to use.

The gym isn’t intimidating and there whole philosophy can be summed up by the “Lunk” alarm on the wall (see picture).

This gym is horrible. They have at least seven pieces of Equipment out order. The ab machine has been out of order for over a year. They don't plan on fixing the equipment because I was told they're getting new equipment in March. When you try to speak to the club manager she doesn't seem to really give you straight answers either. Corporate says the best way to get information is to reach out to the club manager. Have been asked several times if I want to upgrade to the black card membership. I would prefer to just cancel my membership all together. I would highly recommend not joining this gym

Joined about 3 months ago.
This PF gym (as well as the other PF gyms I've been to in the area) is clean and well-kept. Staff are nice. Gym is open whenever you need it. People are respectful and there are no bulky gym bags or other stuffs on the floor. Almost all the equipment is in working status.
The main thing that needs improvement is the balance of cardio vs. strength training equipment. There's an over abundance of cardio equipment and not enough strength training equipment during busier times. It can be difficult to find available equipment you want for the muscle groups you are targeting, so it's frustrating. Specifically: benches, Smith machines, multi-activity setups, and leg press. Whereas I see much of the cardio equipment not in use.
This same equipment imbalance issue exists at other PF gyms I've been to in the area.

PF doesn’t care at all. They bought Texas Family Fitness and closed both of my locations the same day. No heads up or anything other than an email at 9am. Now, the location by my house will just be another unused building. I had to walk into PFF to cancel my membership since they transferred it to their location. I’m still not even sure if it was cancelled.

Thankfully, well over a hundred of us TFF folks in Plano have joined Crunch instead because PF doesn’t care about us. It’s nice to see the same regular folks but at a new place. If you need a nice, well maintained gym with friendly staff, go to Crunch instead. Incredibly disappointed in both PF & TFF for how this was handled.

I went in this past Saturday to cancel my membership. We waited for a couple of minutes then Kai sleepily came around the corner to the desk. I had to initiate the conversation. He didn’t explain anything about the cancellation other than having me sign and tell me it was done. We asked if I would receive confirmation and he reluctantly told me I would receive an email. I have been a member of planet fitness now for about 2 years and I like how reasonable the membership fees are and that I can go to any planet fitness around. I also like the hydro massage beds. But what gets the two star rating and what frustrates me is how frequently the equipment will be out of order and how long it takes to fix it. A few months ago, both of their leg extension machines were out of order for weeks….I’m talking like 4-5 weeks. One of the two leg press machines was down for about 5 weeks, and two of the smith machines were down at the same time…again for multiple weeks. Weeks! Now the seated calf machine is broken- the seat is sitting off to the side with a out of service tag on it. I stopped complaining to the manager months ago because he told he could do nothing about it. He put in a work order and has to simply wait. I don’t understand that. If the gym manager submits an order, it should be worked on sooner than later. This is a busy gym. And if you have only a few specific machines for a specific muscle group and one is down, it causes members to have to stand around and wait while others work out on it. Very frustrating when you don’t have a lot of time to complete a workout. (This part is an edit- updated a couple of months after my first review. That calf machine was never repaired, and has been simply removed. So now there is no calf machine at all in this gym!)

Former member of 24 hour fitness, LA fitness, And Lifetime fitness. I will switching my membership over to Planet Fitness. Not just because of the affordable rates and easy commute from home. But because of Cameron at the Plano North Central Expressway. He was very helpful, answered all my questions, gave me insight to the member perks. People who come to workout here use benches to place their mobiles, bottles & other items. They don't work out on them they use it to keep their items. And, they work in front mirrors 👌🏻 u would have to interrupt their to take the weights or place the weights on the weights holder

This location has gone downhill!
I use to love this gym.
Out of order machines everywhere, including toilets, I can’t even locate a paper towel dispenser that works. Soaps in showers are empty. Tanning Beds not working.
Mirror in Men’s Changing Room have a shelf that’s falling off, and no longer have personal item tables in tanning and massage rooms
What’s going on here?
I hear there’s a new gym opening In Richardson…….

*UPDATE* the email they gave me to solve the problem or it is fake or I don’t know. It gave error to send something to that email. So totally dishonest and disappointing …..

I haven’t been in this club for about 2 years, and I canceled my membership last year when I was in town because I moved away, the guy who I talked to told me everything was fine and I will not be billed for the annual membership fee. I forgot about it, and 3 months later I was charged. I called them, they told me they didn’t know what happened, and they will get back to me. THAT DIDNT HAPPENS, and I am a really busy with my kids and my work, so I forgot about it. But this year again I was charged for the annual membership fee, so really? I I haven’t been there in TWO YEARS, and I CANCELED the membership last year. I am little disappointed. Very annoyed that I canceled the membership and I still paying for it, there should be an easy way to canceled it for the people who moved out. If you plan to cancel with them, make sure you ask for something in return (a document when it says you cancel or something like that).

SORRY , Honestly the worst PF of all the gyms...and I am a black card holder.... Literally none of the staff offer me any of the extra for being a black card holder... Staff here literally pay no attention to customer..they just here for the pay....no enthusiasm to keep customers happy by attending them or asking at least if we need anything.... This place is literally outta there ..

Location wouldn’t be much clean all the time, and restrooms are always horrible. Some Staff will be helpful and greet well but mostly expect rude behavior with customers

A little disappointed in Planet Fitness. I cancelled my membership and I verified with the employee who processed my cancelation that I will not be billed for the annual membership fee, and she confirmed I wouldn't. I was still billed and when I spoke with customer service they said they would refund me and they just need to put in the refund request. The rep told me it just takes a moment to process so look out for the confirmation email. When I called back after a few weeks to follow up they told me that they wouldn't give me a refund because they don't refund annual memberships fees. Very annoyed by the conflicting and false information I received. If you plan to cancel with them, make sure u do so right away and know that customer service is not well informed or helpful.

*Update*
I did as instructed, and gave a detailed explanation of who I spoke to and the false information that was told and received the runaround. The customer service team told me to contact the club directly for the refund and leave feedback with the manager. It's impossible to get in touch with someone directly at the club, it goes straight to membership services, and then they refuse to assist and they redirected me to the manager that was not even the manager of the club that I was assigned to. Especially when I told them the location of the club I signed up at. After explaining the false information I was told, the lack of clarity regarding their policy, the manager refused to assist and told me the same thing that I should have cancelled earlier and that the actual manager of the club will tell me the same thing. Then the call mysteriously got disconnected. I would not recommend signing up at any of these locations because if you have a issue, it will not get resolved!!

I wish it was a little bit bigger, but other than that. Everything is perfect. The staff members are extremely friendly, the equipment is new and well maintained, the services they give with their black card are exceptional.

Nice and spacious gym; attendants vary in friendliness but no issues. Always see staff cleaning off and on which is much appreciated. Some equipment out of order but not many machines at this time.

I've called this place and tried to cancel. I sent in a letter. They did not cancel. I called to speak about this multiple times. This is very frustrating and I feel like I'm scammed.

Deserving of Stars! It’s not a powerlifting gym but it’s very nice. They have Red Light therapy, standup, and 4 hydro-massage chairs that rock and great post workout. Managers are great and enjoy every day I go in

I wish I could give you Zero stars. June 17, 2024 was involved in a car accident with my son… late that evening I went in with my son ( who’s a member). While my son was showering .. I asked could I use the massage chair and was told No, I had to have my person with me. This was late around 11:30 (was trying to find some relief for my lower back),,, I was so hurt … later the next day I posted the summary of what I felt… on planet fitness site… I was attack w the protocol of what their suppose to do legally …no one used not one of those chairs while I was waiting on my son to return… I was hurt by this action… I was a guest and I should have been treated better!
