I've been coming here for over a year and although the equipment and gym has improved the staff and/or management has not. Time to move on. Problems that I have seen is the poor customer service meaning horrible attitudes and inattentive staff. God forbid you approach a staff member for something, how dare you bother them. Also, there is no management of lewed attire which lead to selective surveillance and attitudes towards men. The typical "wearing something extremely inappropriate or seak attention followed by why am I being looked at?" During the summer it gets very crowded and issues are exacerbated with the influx of high schoolers who have free passes. Again, lack of management of this issues.

The very definition of disappointment. Starting at the very first contact. When calling to ask about scheduling a tour or first visit I learned Planet Fitness does not "allow" and onsite visit or trial workout. I was told, "everything is online." Indeed it is! You MUST join to "try it out." Fine. The cost is appealing. I fall for it. I show up at 7am. At the front desk i ask, "where do I sign in?" this interrupts the two staff members from their conversation. One points to the scanner. Then, because it is my first visit, no picture shows up. So he says, "I have to get your picture, step here." great! Now he knows I am brand new! Nope! He says, "have a great workout." So I ask, "isn't there like, a tour, or a trainer, or ...?" Nope. You just go work out. It's pretty easy.
On the website it states there are "free" trainers available to help create a workout. So I ask, "Can I meet that person?"
"Nope. We don't have those here. But its pretty easy. Just go work out."
"Can I have a tour of what is here?"
"Well, there are only two of us here, so...."

I am now pretty frustrated. This is NOT what was portrayed on the website and I am disappointed.
BUT.. the other thing that was attractive was the 30 minute circuit training. I'll just go do that!
"Can you point me to where the 30 minute circuit training is?"
"Oh, we don't have that anymore."
What!!!????
"Yeah, they got rid of that awhile ago."

I found myself EXACTLY where I did not want to be. Standing in a gym, paying a membership, with no idea where to start, what to do - that is effective. Yes, I can wander out and work on some machines. But I want intention and results. Guidance and direction was hailed all over the website and what I purchased. Arriving I found NOTHING that was offered. Albeit, there are ALOT of treadmills.

The cost of saving money.

I went home, cancelled my membership, and purchased a far more expensive option somewhere else, and had an AMAZING workout the very next day with the guidance of a trained coach.

All this to say, "caution, this is the classic bait and switch if you are looking for a guided workout. If you are just looking for a cheap gym to go do your thing, you will probably be satisfied."

My phone disappeared while I was stretching, and the staff immediately teamed up to help me find it. One kept calling it from the front desk, and another walked around with me helping me retrace my steps. They even offered to check the cameras! Eventually it turned up (someone else had accidentally picked it up and left it elsewhere), but I appreciated the urgency the staff showed in helping me locate it. Went out of their way to help!

i went to the gym with my friend to work out together, and once we started working in sets, a worker by the name of Kim approached us. she said we could NOT both be using the same machine (?), using the rationale that we are taking valuable exercise time from other gym members. more confused than frustrated, i wondered how by working in sets with my friend on the SAME machine was taking away time instead of efficiently preserving time and machine use from those around us. if she wants use two separate of the same machines like she said, i guess we will. someone please explain to me the logical reasoning behind these, please.

i haven’t gone to a gym in well… ever until this year. my fitness journey began by simply walking. i wanted something simple but as years went on i wanted to go for something a little more challenging. my dad is terrible at gift giving and as a joke gave each family member a card that read: i suck at gift giving, let’s talk about it! score! i knew what i wanted! he bought me a membership to planet fitness but made it fancy—the black card! it’s been so rewarding. i can feel & see the change! i have terrible back pain so the hydro massage comes in handy quite often. i am still learning the ways of the gym and enjoying the amenities but my ultimate favorite has to be when the girl crew is around! jessica, terri and miranda are my fave go-to gal pals on all things gym and self care! this planet fitness location is my safe space, my encouraging connection with others and also just a great escape when i need time for me! highly recommend and if you meet my fave gal-pals, tell them roni says, hi!

They have a big selection of equipment to work out on. It is keep very clean. I would give them 5 stars but a few of the staff members could pay a little more attention to their clients. I haven't been to a gym on many years. The first day I went in, I asked if I could get a little help with how the machines work. The young man at the counter told me that some of the equipment has instructions on the side and that was all the help he gave. The next time I went in, a different young man had his back to me. He never turned around to say hi or welcome, with his back to me, he lifted the check in camera and that was that.

So I wanted to tour the facility, but I needed to go to the restroom (I’ve been drinking coffee all morning) the young gentleman with the glasses front desk said no you cannot use the restroom it’s only for members I said OK so do I need to buy a membership before I use the restroom? The best part: I called the “manager” and the manager wanted to sell me a membership THREE times and he did say his policy that outsiders cannot use the restroom. Am I confused???

The facility recently underwent a significant equipment change and I wish I could say it was for the better in my opinion. Two of my favorite features that this gym had ( fitness and core circuits) were taken away. The fitness circuit has been moved to the floor where anyone can jump on. What’s wrong with that you might ask? Anyone can jump on this equipment and camp out preventing someone from completing the circuit in a timely manner. At least the other way offered some pressure on people to move on. The core section had 6 pieces of equipment and was also a circuit. Now there are only 4 pieces and spread out. More importantly was the attitude of the employees and the manager who vibed a “couldn’t care less” attitude when this was brought to their attention. I’d like to say I’m the only one, but while there multiple people also expressed their displeasure with the “upgrade”. The remainder of equipment is still in place, however there’s a lot more dead space now then there was before. They also doubled down on free weights and cages. Don’t see many people using those during my workouts, but ok. Overall I’m disappointed, I enjoyed the way it was and found it a great place to get away and do you for a while. Now, it appears that you’re compelled to wait on others more now than before.

Just wanted to say that I’ve been a member at planet fitness for sometime now and I have been enjoying the good experiences that they provide there. The staff members are generally very attentive and one person really sticks out as a phenomenal leader, and that is Mr. Chris. Great morning staff. It's unfortunate they're not very happy with the way things are run at this location(281/evans). If you're a weekday 5am early bird and you like the 360 area...good luck. HUGE LIABILITY. Coaches set up in that area and train 5-6 clients..cross train and use treadmills/ellipticals. They will purposely set up around anyone who is in the area they use to intimidate them to move by almost kicking and hitting them with weights. Ive seen them be successful at it. There is another coach, who coaches two females on different days. HUGE LIABILITY.

Very rude, my daughter is 13 and the young lady is giving me that look of disbelief. We already had checked in and we changed in the restrooms and we went to my car to drop off our change of clothes. I’m a black card member and have gone to several Planet Fitness clubs in Houston (my home), Plano, Dallas, Tampa, and San Antonio. This is by far the worst Planet Fitness I’ve been to in every aspect. The machines are all old, many stay broken for weeks (rarely see that in other locations), it’s crowded, has fewer machines than other locations, has very few cleaning stations, and only has two hydromassage machines (one of which was broken for a few days - never seen that before either) and only two older model regular massage chairs that often smell really bad.

But the worst part is their staff is the some of the most inattentive, rudest staff I’ve seen in any location. Many of them are fine, don’t get me wrong, but often one is on break and the one who stays seems to be extra slow on their own, for some inexplicable reason. I’ve now had two incidents where I had to wait for several minutes while the staff member finishes their conversation (or looking at their phone) in order to request to use the black card spa. First time I had to wait to use the hydromassage for 10 minutes because a couple were using both machines. A staff member - older lady with brunette hair, didn’t get her name - told me I was next in line for the hydromassage so I used the nasty regular massage chair while waiting only for her to let another couple literally walk right in and take both machines again. When I went to ask which machine to use she said both were in use and even the other staff member told her I was next in line, to which she said she “forgot.” Second time was yesterday, I was literally standing in front of a staff member named Jacqueline for several minutes while she answered a customer on the phone (not very well, she kept repeating the same answer) then looked on her phone for several minutes, finally another guy got her attention because she apparently forgot to turn on the tanning bed he was using. She then lazily turns to me and asks me what I want, I had already seen both hydromassages were in use so I asked for the regular massage chair. She then asks me to scan my membership again - makes no effort to get the tokens either - and I asked her why I had to scan because I had already scanned it twice when I came in and when I used the total body enhancement literally right before. Other locations will only have me scan once when I come in as usual or ask my name if they really need it. I told her it was ok, asked for her name and walked out.

Thankfully there’s another Planet Fitness five minutes further than this one (on Nacogdoches) and it’s completely worth it to go there instead.

So I’ve been attending planet fitness for a little over 2 years I typically go to the one on the south side where I have never had an issue ever! The staff is amazing and helpful never had an issue with planet fitness until today when I went to this location on 281 and had to deal with racial profiling the manager Lisa who gave me a hard time today 3-20-24 I was using the room with the machines you of course quickly workout on when the lights green and red I was on a machine when an older white gentleman came and tossed his bag next to me while on a machine a for the leg curls and asked me if I was done while In it I informed him so he moved on I assumed ok I’m good he then followed me to the next machine where I was done and I was going to clean it and he just hopped on it and I looked directly at him and David @yoir being rude” he then just went about it I moved on to the next machine and he then made sure to tell the manager Lisa r that I told him he was rude which was accurate I did cause that was extremely rude . She then came to me while cleaning a machine and said I’m telling everyone they need to move through the machines I said yes mamm I’m aware it’s not the first time I’ve been here she said I know but! ..and I knew then it wasn’t about her just telling me she wanted to argue I said can we discuss this up front and not here where people are watching and she said no we can talk here . I said I understand the rules I one often to planet but she continued on and yelled I’m done with you without hearing me out only listening to the gentleman who was upset I said “your being rude” I’m sorry this was a one sided thing and I’ve never experienced some sort of racial profiling but I’m definitely taking this to my cHR department to remove them off the list for the package deal we have with them. I’ve never been so shaken up and for you to tell me your gonna band me off me telling an individual your rude for hovering over me and rushing me is definitely one sided. I’ve ignored ppl in this location several times and you can’t make people not be racist but when it comes to a manger who should hear both parties out dudes with the older white gentleman it says something and to scream at me in front of people “you’ll find me and get me banned” is worse I’m gonna cancel this never ship and I’ve already informed my hr department along with family and friends. It’s unfortunate to have to experience this type of behavior in a place you go to release your daily stress it’s even more unfortunate when you know several people who will be canceling as well change your ways life is more than being racisit.

I recently joined this gym and opted for the black card membership, excited about the prospect of enjoying massages, red therapy, and tanning services. However, my enthusiasm was dampened during a recent visit with a guest.

After a workout, I attempted to use the tanning and red light therapy services with my guest, only to be informed by Jacqueline or Jackeline, an assistant manager, that these amenities are exclusive to black card members only not for guest to use. While I respect business policies, I was disappointed with the lack of flexibility in handling the situation.

The gym itself is decent, clean, but the poor customer service left a bitter taste. I expected better from an assistant manager. A more customer-friendly approach, perhaps suggesting a one-time exception or guest membership, could have made a significant difference.

This incident has left me contemplating the continuation of my membership. Despite the positive aspects of the gym, the negative experience overshadowed my overall impression. I hope the management takes this feedback constructively to enhance the customer service aspect of the facilities.

Literally been at Gold’s Gym for over 10 years and never thought I would leave! But they’ve gone down hill since Covid so I thought I’d give Planet fitness a shot. So glad that I did! Everything is new, clean, organized and usually available! The membership is a fraction of the cost of Gold’s and the gyms are all 24 hours, and include tanning beds, hydromassage beds, massage chairs and my personal favorite, the Total Body Enhancement beds that have the red light therapy and shake out the lactic acid from your muscles after a workout. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly too! Give it a shot, I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed!

We thought we would have a great experience for our son and friends and it turned out that their policy and customer service was not aligned, specific employees treated my son in absolutely absurd and horrible ways based on our experiences.

My high schooler and his friends had Summer program with PF and liked it very much enough that one of his friends got a black card and started taking him as a guest. They have been working out almost every day together (while gathering friends to join the PF to the work out clan) and had no problems..... until one day, a female employee blocked him and not letting him enter, saying his waiver was not in their system. We have already signed 2 different Summers, but thought there might have had a glitch in the computer and went in the facility and signed it one more time.

His friend and he went there for a while without any problem, but then another day, that female employee stopped him again saying his waiver was not in the file. Was it coincidence? Who knows. We were not happy that somehow his waiver disappeared to this specific employee, but went to the facility and signed it again. However, this time she would not even let him work out without us being present in the facility. She mentioned that he can't work out without us being there because he is a minor. It was absurd, and we never had this problem. My son has been working out almost every single day for more than 2 Summers and he's been very responsible while using the facility and the equipment. Besides, isn't it the whole point of signing a waiver in the first place?
She was adamant that he can't work out without having us there. So? We stayed there sitting at a table until he finishes his working out with his buddies. (You know what the irony was? my sons' friends were working out fine without their parents present even though they were all minors. We think it was some kind of double standards, or targeted racism.)

My son started feeling attacked by that employee(s), but really loved to work out at the PF and asked if we can get a black card so he can bring more friends to join him.
We got him a black card.
His other friends who have black cards (and are minors) don't have any issues bringing their other minor friends... so,
He started taking a friend as a guest(of course the friend's parents signed a waiver as well) for a while without any problems(when there are other employees), and one day with that female employee(s), he called us again and saying she wouldn't let him go in and work out because we are not present.
We were very upset and went to the facility and asked the explanation.
This time, that lady said we need to be there while my son works out with his minor friend, but we cannot just wait there by sitting, but had to have a PF membership.

There are so many red flags and inconsistency in how this female employee treated us with your policy.
It was multiple time we felt we were harassed by this lady and she doesn't make any sense.

My son's waiver keeps disappearing,
he can't work out because he was minor without us being present,
he can't bring his friend who is a minor(but his friends do that all the time without any issues) without us being PF member......
What a joke.
Why are you advertising your black cards to the minor kids if they are not allowed to bring their friends?

My son, however, really like your facility(except that specific employees), so he wanted to keep going.
so, we dropped his black card, and downgraded it to one person membership.

Now, he doesn't have a problem even though he is still a minor.
we are not required to hold membership, nor required to be present when he works out.

You really need to train your employees with consistency.

No complaints on the gym . Good place to workout. Just disappointed that it’s such a challenge to cancel a membership. There is no way to cancel online, over the phone , by fax or email. You have to physically go to the gym to cancel which is inconvenient if you move 2.5 hours away. Seems after multiple attempts a certified letter was the only way to cancel. What a shame.

I’ve been going to this location for about two months. I’ve been to a couple of planet fitness over my workout journey and this one is my favorite. The afternoon/evening staff make me feel welcomed and they do a great job taking care of the gym. This franchise should feel lucky to have them.
