Bought a day pass in hopes of finding a new powerlifting gym, but was definitely underwhelmed visiting.
The gym doesnβt look like the photos- needs some serious deep cleaning and someone to come in and arrange the equipment in a layout the makes sense. Lots of odd open spaces.
I was also surprised at how old a lot of the equipment is (specifically accessory equipment) and no treadmills or stair masters. Makes it hard to find a gym where you can train when youβre missing a lot of standard equipment that should be at power lifting gyms and needed for standard programming. Bummer!

This gym seemed abandoned and was a complete mess. Seriously do not come here, the photos are so deceiving, and the benches were ripped entirely. Online it states that they have top equipment, but in reality they have one eleiko bar and the rest is completely janky. It seems like no one has come to clean this place up in over a year. Save your time and energy and go to a different gym.

I had been a member for a few years. Equipment (powerlifting bars, calibrated plates, combo racks, cages, and a handful of accessory machines) is pretty standard for a powerlifting gym. However, since one of the owners who, took it upon himself to maintain and clean the place daily, left, the cleanliness of this gym is quite atrocious. I also suggested that they at least provide water to the members, and even reached out to other gyms to discus costs and logistics and found out that the service they use would have costed POD less than what they charge for a single members monthly membership. The response I got from the current owners was "the sink in the bathroom works and you can fill your bottle from there" "we don't have the space for a water dispenser, nor do we have the money for it." Fast forward a few weeks, they have a new Rouge Rhino belt squat machine, which is neither cheap, nor does it take up a small space. To be fair, they did get a vending machine eventually and have waterbottles for sale. There hasn't been much growth in this gym compared to the other powerlifting gyms in the area. They also ha e random things like couches, standing bar tables that get in the way of lifters if you are new there but doesn't seem to bother the members who have been going for a while.
The main things that are appealing are the members, community, the coaches, and caliber of lifters that train there. However, as a gym, I would not to go there if I had another option for a powerlifting facility.

I have visited POD after my stressful days of studying when I was a senior at UTD and I think this gym is by far the best gym for strength training in the Richardson/Garland area!

Thy have excellent equipment for powerlifting and weightlifting (calibrated and non-calibrated plates, multiple types of bars, multiple bands, competitional racks, and a small bodybuilding section).
In my opinion the gym atmosphere is friendly, but the competition atmosphere is always perceived, so we all tend to push ourselves for growth.
There is bunch of athletes who have been doing the sports for MANY years, so you can always ask for advice on your lifts.
Many of these athletes provide personal coaching. It is just a matter of asking them for coaching services.
Overall, I completely love this gym!
Only complain is just that I wish for a bigger space because at peak hours, it gets packed (like all gyms).

Love that this place is patterned around serious lifters. There's no pretense here. If you're looking for cardio gear and machines this isn't the gym for you, but if you're into powerlifting and/or serious free weights and compound movements- common to the powerlifting community-this is definitely the place to go in Dallas County!

Hardcore gym without the intimidation. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Geared towards powerlifters and olympic lifters. The great thing about this gym is that it has people with various levels of experience and the members are just a helpful as the staff. Another great benefit is that the gym is available 24 hours.

One of Two gyms in the entire DFW metroplex ( really that's it ) that a Powerlifter can get a full competition experience. The other gym being Metroflex Fort Worth The Castle.
Progressive Overload Dallas is a Powerlifter owned gym. They have calibrated steel plates, 20kg-29mm Ohio Power Bars, 2.5kg competition collars, and Texas Strength Systems Combination Competition Racks. 24 hour access makes training around your own schedule a breeze. Quality Olympic Barbells and Rogue Bumper Plates for Olympic Lifters.
Many members compete in USAPL and USPA so you are training around people who are actively involved in the DFW Powerlifting community. Experienced lifters will appreciate the equipment and environment. Don't let that discourage you novice lifters. This is a great place to learn as everyone is kind and encouraging. We all started as novices after all. This place is going to be something special.
