I love Pure Barre but I was disappointed with the overall experience at this studio. Not worth the price tag for unlimited access. I would recommend going to a more updated studio for cozier-full Pure Barre experience. I started Barre in ‘18 at the River Oaks Studio then ‘22 at the Lubbock Studio (unlimited). I had an unlimited membership at this studio starting July ‘24 cancelling a couple months ago after dissatisfaction with the facility. I came in with high hopes from other barre studios and this was also close to my house. The reasons I rated this studio (2/5) are as follows:

(1) Offstreet parking - only 10ish spots on a good day, 1 is handicap, 1 you have to drive around yellow safety posts. If the class is “full” you will have to parallel park in the neighborhood if you can avoid the trash cans and zoned parking.
(2) Limited workout space - starts to feel crowded at 15 people where other studios comfortably fit 25 with 28 being capacity. A little too quaint of a space for me.
(3) Small storefront - limited workout clothes as options. Previous studio had sitting lounge along with food merchandise such as water bottles, protein shakes or protein bars. This studio offers a coffee machine & water fountain (?).
(4) More male presence than other studios which is fine but only few were for the ~girls~ The others I think were bfs/husbands or sus single men who were staring a lot when they thought no one noticed which got uncomfortable.
(5) Not reflective of the Houston / Heights demographic (limited diversity). They tend to use POC for promo or photo ops.
(6) On my first 10 challenge I was told I could choose my socks. I also saw people before and after me select theirs from a bin. When I completed mine the Studio Instructor laughed to herself and said she knew the perfect socks for me. She returned with a full grin and tacky red/green watermelon socks. I’m afro-latina it just felt like a micro-aggression. I think which speaks to the whole vibe of the studio. Yes there were other socks available to choose from and no I was not given a choice even after asking for something else (i was a bit shocked)
(7) Everyone seems to know everyone which is normally okay but with limited space it’s an inconvenience. Groups of like 3-5 would overtake a corner or section limiting spots that would otherwise be open if each attended individually. If you attend on your own make sure to get there early as groups of people will not budge or create space.

I love pure barre & would still continue but the studio - vibes are off. Hopefully a modern take with updated facilities opens in the area again.

I love it here but don’t come as often as I like because Define isn’t offered enough for me. Looking at the June calendar there’s only one Sunday Define for example. The Saturday ones are very early and book up quickly because there’s usually only one Define class offered all weekend. Because of this my credits usually go unused. I get classic is the bread and butter but this is just my opinion.

From the get go, I had a frustrating call with Zoey about my preferred name over my bio name which was on my One Pass. It felt like I was being judged and mistreated because I had a preferred name, which is what queer people like me say.

Definitely catered to a certain type of people. Was told classic would be okay for beginners (i did the intro) but I was struggling and the new instructor barely helped me and it was too fast pace for someone not in shape and an absolute beginner. I also got looks and stares (also from new instructor) because I was struggling and also felt judgement in the environment because I am a queer poc, it’s very obvious.

Such a shame because it’s so close to where I live, but I won’t be spending my free time with a judgey environment that doesn’t have consideration or much inclusivity. If you dont match the vibes, you’re an outcast. Boo.

Kingwood location...

It's tougher than you can imagine. It's a mix of conditioning/pilates yoga & overall core strengthening. It's a masterclass in getting your butt kicked for 45ish minutes.

The unlimited membership renews monthly which allows for as many visits you can take in the month. It also is by appointment per class. PB uses an app that allows for you to book as far in advance as you want which is a great idea considering once it fills up you are wait-listed for that class (maybe 12-15 spots).

I absolutely love the different classes because of the way it stretches & strengthens at the same time. The instructors are encouraging but brutal; in a good way.

I won’t be going back to this location from negative treatment from one employee and a general lack of comfort. A few of the employees here are friendly. Kat and Lauren are very warm and supportive. The studio space is tiny, not sure if this is by design but most classes are on a waitlist. There was a position that opened up at the front desk they announced for anyone interested to inquire w the front desk. The instructor Zoey was always extremely cold and unfriendly. There had been multiple occasions where she intentionally tried to make me feel uncomfortable or out of place which is fine considering she thought i had just moved to the neighborhood from Portland and that I didn’t know ppl in the area or was not from the same socioeconomic background as most of the other clients. When in fact I lived in Houston for 15 years before and am friends w multiple business owners in the heights. After hearing about my experience they have urged me to write this review and email the management at this location. They know me as a genuine kind person and hated that I was made to feel demoralized by the typical “mean girl” at a business where i am expected to spend money. When I inquired about the position w her she was extremely demeaning like in a terribly judgmental encounter. I mentioned that I lived nearby and loved the program and that I had other means of making money and it would be the perfect part time supplemental income then she pressed me for details about that (which wasn’t relevant) and I disclosed it was from Only Fans after which her demeanor went even colder and she clearly was trying to make me feel so shamed and embarrassed about it that I wouldn’t continue showing interest in working there. I never went back after that day which was sad bc I grew up w dance and had recently suffered an assault on my body and I was benefiting from the strength I was gaining and healing from the camaraderie of working towards something healthy w a group of powerful women. outside of the negative encounters w Zoey there i can say some of the ladies were trying to cultivate a warm environment and but they could maybe work on having a better dynamic w all of their students and making them feel appreciated/comfortable no matter their background, race, or sexual proclivities.

Currently paying $90 a month for 4 classes and they have a limited amount of classic classes a week. I travel for work and sometimes Im not able to use my 4 class credits in a month, staff told me that as long as my membership is active they can roll over my unused credits to the next month. Today they decided that they will no longer roll over credits. Wish they would be more consistent with their policy and not change their mind out of nowhere.

I took a complimentary class with my daughter and treated her to the special they offered for $80. I was not aware that they would continue to charge my credit card without notifying me personally that they were doing so. I called when I found out and instead of being helpful to rectify the situation, they kept telling me they will send me a copy of what my daughter signed. I did not sign it. I made clear that I was only interested in paying for the offer. Beware of their business practices!!

In regards to COVID-19, the owner has taken every possible precaution, and has/continues to follow all mandates and guidelines very closely. I have always wanted to give Pure Barre a try and finally did three months ago at the Heights studio.
I have never been athletic or had great coordination and balance but after just a couple of months of Pure Barre I could see and feel a difference in my performance during the classes and in my overall strength.  I still have a long way to get to my "ideal" body, but I already receive compliments from friends and family.  The results seem noticeable just after a few weeks, and I usually attend 3-4 times a week.

The instructors at the studio are very friendly and always try their best to remember everyone's name. They are very welcoming and their encouragement during the hardest parts of the class helps you to get through. Every instructor has their style of leading the class: some like to show most complicated forms right before the class, some are very strict on tucking the tailbone in, and others may joke around a bit which makes them even more personable.

The studio is very clean and the girls sanitize everything after each class.  The equipment used is very minimal: a couple of exercise sliders, resistance tubes, some light weights (optional), a mat, and clearly, the Barre.

The fairness of the price is subjective, of course. But Pure Barre offers different payment options that depend on your commitment and the number of classes you take that month. My commitment is month to month with an unlimited number of classes and I pay $179.00 plus grip socks ($15-20 a pair). You can purchase the socks at the studio and if you think you may do okay without them, just a little note, those really help during planks and asymmetrical holds. And while $179.00 a month may sound like a lot, this workout is the only workout that has shown me quick results and it’s something I have stuck with so far. If I were to do this with a personal trainer I know I would be paying a similar fee a session, just something to think about.

I love it so far and definitely recommend it.

Great workout at a great location with great people! Apparently pure barre is a mix of ballet and pilates but I’ve never done either so can’t say for sure. Either way it’s good practice for strength, grace, and balance. Almost all attendees are ladies but sometimes men come as well. Starting out is tough (as every workout is) but I’ve been committed and going regularly for a few months and already really experiencing amazing results. Plus I actually enjoy it, which surprises me. Going at the same time in the morning I’ve had the same instructor for basically the whole time so it’s nice to have that familiarity as well. Classes are small (usually less than 10 people) which I like, and though I prefer to go in person they do offer online classes as well. Highly recommend!

I love Pure Barre Heights! I was interested in joining for several years before I finally did after going to a class with a friend. Less than 2 years in, I’ve already attended over 400 classes and I’ve never felt stronger!

During this pandemic, they’ve offered multiple live stream classes daily, allowing me to stay connected and participate even though I am not attending in studio. (They have many safety protocols for in-person but I prefer to stay home.). The live stream classes are a great workout, very convenient, and the instructors still encourage us by name throughout each class.

Last but not least, the women who run and teach at Pure Barre Heights are so encouraging, supportive, and kind. I can’t wait to go back in person, but until then, feel grateful to have this outlet during a challenging time. ❤️

I love this place! I came here on a recommendation/dragging from a friend. I had done barre before and even been to a couple other pure barre locations but it never stuck for me. I liked the workout but the atmosphere was always something I desired more from. I ended up trying this Pure Barre location anyway and I I AM SO GLAD I DID!! The workouts are fantastic and having three different types of classes really helps mix it up so I’m never bored (sore, yes but never bored!). But let’s face it, we don’t go to exercise classes in person just for the workout, we go for the community aspect just as much and that’s the reason I keep coming back! These women- front desk, instructors, owner, and classmates alike- are all incredibly genuine, friendly, and want to see you push yourself. They want you to come as you are and simply be better than you were yesterday. They have definitely made a loyal customer out of me.

I bought this class as a groupon and became a a member eventually through my experience with the first several classes . The people are super communicative and work with you so you can have the best and most effective time possible. They are easy to talk to , whether call, text or even Facebook. Even when I had problems such as being late, or missing a class , the girls are all there to work with me and are super responsive .The classes are DEFINITELY a work out but my instructors are always helpful, friendly and energetic. Every class , though I am one of those that struggle, the instructors are there to push me through with a positive attitude. It’s a fun and qualitative workout , easy to work with professionals , and overall one of the best purchases I’ve made to invest my time and health in.

I have visited The Heights studio several years ago when I was in Houston to see my children. I live in Birmingham Alabama.

When the corona virus shut down our country, I received an email from The Heights Pure Barre offering me unlimited virtual classes for a very good rate. I immediately bought this package and to this day continue to take classes “in Houston”.

The classes and instructors are excellent. I appreciate the motivation each teacher provides, as well as a variety of exercises and warm ups, energetic music and their ability to communicate to each of us through Zoom.

I still attend my Birmingham studio now that it is open but I definitely supplement my exercise regime with Pure Barre the Heights classes.

Several weeks ago I marked my 100th class since the pandemic began. The sweet girls remembered and recognized me during class.

Pure Barre is my favorite form of exercise. Darby, the owner of the Heights is excellent and always aware of each class that is zoomed. Sarah, Haley and the other instructors are the some of the best. And the girls who work there and greet you on the phone or behind the desk, are polite, caring and truly love what they do.

Run, don’t walk to the Heights Pure Barre for the most effective and enjoyable 50 minutes of exercise that will transform your mind and body. I wish I could!!

I'm so happy to have joined as a member of pure barre. PB is a national franchise & known for its great expertise of instructors as they all go through a thorough training process. From personal experience, they have all been knowledgeable on technique and modifications. The specials are always changing so call the studio and talk with them. They were so sweet to work with me to find the best membership for classes given my circumstance. It's really true- the shake is where the magic happens.

From my experience, the girls here have been a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. The app makes it super easy to book and cancel classes so if you use it effectively you won't be penalized or pay cancellation fees.. the 4 hour window is super reasonable.

If you're looking to tone up without bulking go here! Tons of free community classes as well. Thanks PB ladies!

If you are considering visiting or becoming a member @ Pure Barre the Heights and you’re here reading reviews first - you’ve made the best decision for yourself....GO NOW. If you’re looking for a place to get fit, gain confidence, feel comfortable & welcomed, see QUICK results, make friends, be a part of fun events, and more, this is your place!

I stumbled in here somewhat cluelessly and new to Barre but needing something new, I started taking class about 2x/week, then 3x/week consistently & I started seeing results within only weeks!

So by month 4 I’m now taking class 5x/week and LET ME TELL YOU I did not workout before this (I hate the gym and I’m painfully shy in these types of settings usually) *** I am only taking class this often because I love it so much, it’s fun, therapeutic, and just plain works. I have been coming here for about eight months. I initially came on Class Pass, but loved it so much that I joined their unlimited membership. The instructors are motivating and encouraging and I love that they try to know everyone by their name.

I LOVE going to Pure Barre! The classes and instructors push you in the best way possible, and I am so glad to have found Pure Barre. They are always so friendly and make you feel welcome. They also are sure to remember your name and encourage you throughout class. I never thought I would actually look forward to working out! Thanks, Pure Barre!

I had never taken a Barre class, and Pure Barre the Heights was my first attempt. Needless to say...I instantly fell in love! Not only was the class amazing, and challenging...the staff was so nice and helpful. I never felt awkward or out of place. I would recommend anyone starting out to come take a class at Pure Barre The Heights!!!
