The gym it self is nice, great lay out, clean bathrooms, good selection of equipment. However, the lack of gym etiquette amongst the members is awful. People will take up multiple pieces of equipment with their bags and clothes, then sit on their phones for 30-45 minutes before ever using it. I felt very uncomfortable in the evenings with the amount of drug deals going on in the gym and out in the parking lot. And there’s girls in there who will not flush the toilet or wash their hands. It wasn’t a place for me after a while so I had to move on.

I was looking for something new because this gym no longer has zumba. I gave kickboxing a try. Jesus, the instructor is AWESOME! He's inspiring, pushes me but is so kind to my development. If I cant do the full movement, he reminds me to listen to my body and encourages me that I'll do better next time and that its okay. I never dont sweat and I feel so alive its crazy! 10/10 recommend!

It was good at first but slowly went downhill especially with the lack of etiquette. I know it's something the gym itself has minimal control over, but it still affects the overall environment. That plus having only one housekeeper that closes the men's restroom several times a day for hour long cleanings makes it inconvenient for both the men and the housekeeper.

My friend invited me to FC and when I went, Jimbo was rude and wasted my time saying I couldn't use my 5 day pass. Then I went to LAF and it was fine but there were so many people, I had to wait for nearly every machine. Then I tried Retro Fitness and they were so nice and welcoming! I didn't have any issues using my guest pass, and the red light machine was even better than the sauna! On top of it all, they have a smoothie king so I can have my fresh smoothie after each workout. If you're new to Pasadena, I recommend trying all of the gyms bc you'll understand why Retro is above the rest. Thank you, Adrian, Chris, and Karina for making me feel right at home!

I really enjoyed working out here but I’m trying to cancel my membership because I’m moving and they are making it impossible.
I’ve spoken to three different front desk associates. The first one said to come during regular hours. I understood the first person because I had went late at night.
I went in today at around 10:15 A.M. and a different associate requested I took a seat and waited for the GM and I just told her I’d work out and speak to him after.
I finished my work out at roughly 11:45 and went back to speak to the front desk lady. She proceeded to ask for my name and phone number because he would be back in an hour. I told her I’d already waited longer than an hour and if she could just cancel my membership.
She said no because I have to do it in person AND schedule a time to meet.
What is this a business meeting?! Y’all can call me and cancel my membership I’m not driving from the woodlands to cancel my membership again this is ridiculous.

MANAGER always on his phone, unwelcoming, uninterested. Only works M-TH daytime but always “leaves early” so no hope for us working people to cancel. Then he doesnt want to cancel your membership and tells false i formation about memberships in the 1st place. They only hire ladies, who are all very kind , but look uncomfortable around this manager. Lots of equipment needing repairs for MONTHS too. Shame for such a good new gym.

I thought it would get better. Management seems to read reviews, so I'm hoping they take these things into real consideration, and not the "consideration" they continue to give about staying open later than 7 on the weekends.

Don't go after 6PM (you're out of luck 9 to 5-ers who can't go in the morning) any weekday unless you want to fight for your life to use a machine— especially any of the leg ones. There isn't enough to accommodate everyone they're signing up. The 3 leg machines that do have more than one only have 2. Wear is already showing on cable machines from excessive use, and it messes their mechanics up and/or tears the upholstery. The latter is happening with the leg extension, making it impossible to use comfortably when wearing shorts and using medium+ weight. And the lower body exercises these machines provide aren't easily replicated with equipment.

There are many days I spend a significant amount of time waiting on a machine to be free, and when it is, someone closer is already getting on. I'm not about to hover, and I hate asking when they'll be done. I'm also not using a nearby machine just to wait when someone else may need it.

Sometimes, every machine in my routine is taken by a group, and I've already done cardio, so now what? Recently, I had 3 machines left, all taken by groups of 3+ ppl. So, I either 1. wait around for one (usually taking the time it would for me to be finished with all 3) then hope the others will be available by the time I’m done with it, or 2. cut my losses and save my time. Having to change your routine or miss out on finishing it for something like that is frustrating.

Going earlier isn't an option for a lot of us. I used to love it here bc it was small, chill, and the number of ppl present at a time was fitting. Now, it's congested, and I bet there isn't a cap to ppl being registered. I get it, what were the chances that they were all going to commit, or all be there at the same time?

Machine selection is okay. There just really needs to be more than one for each of them. How has it been almost a yr and they haven't increased them? Yet, there's ≈10 chest presses when only 2-3 are ever used at the same time. Where is the money from memberships even going? It's not like it's cheap here, and there aren't even any useful amenities (only available to Ultimate Tier): 2 massage chairs, tanning, red light? Let's get real.

One thing that has stayed consistently pleasant is the staff. The two couples and the rest of the girls are sweet and always welcoming. I don't see mgmt a lot, but they're friendly. They don't aggressively push trainers or other paid extras. Even janitorial is nice (and efficient). Though, I do wish employees would say something to ppl who slam barbells at the squat racks when they're RDLing [wrong]. There are stickers on mirrors asking them not to, and it's general gym etiquette, but it's not enforced here. It's also a problem on cable machines. Got noise-cancelling earbuds/headphones? Doesn't matter, you will hear these ppl's sets over them even if you turn your music up to an uncomfortable level. It will ruin your workout and mood.

Smoothies: only nutrition info provided is calories, like most places, but even the nutrition page on the website doesn't show any? There's a spreadsheet that marks ingredients as Dairy Free, Vegan (neither proteins are), GF, etc., which is essentially just allergen info. What's the sugar content for these products that are all made of syrups and mystery powders? It's something a lot of gym-goers care about. They're also not very good.

Lastly, the tripod/recording allowance? Not recording at a gym has always been a rule for ppl's privacy! What if someone who sees that vid recognizes a member and is a dangerous person to them, and the poster isn't private about where they gym? I highly doubt they blur faces or don't get anyone else in their shots!

Being back in a gym has helped me in a lot of ways this past yr. It's a convenient drive for me, too. It sucks that it's turning into such an annoyance to be here.

I go to Matt’s 10:00 AM Saturday class. He is a great instructor, always looking out for our form to prevent injuries. He meets us at the level we are at and challenges us without pushing too hard. Stay away from Retro fitness they will charge you a declined card fee of $20 ! I have spoken to my credit card company nothing was declined I have a 6 figure line of credit on this card ! The lady in customer service was useless the worst customer experience I have ever had like she was reading from a script and not addressing my issue ! This place is a scam. I signed up outside of Kroger and was told the gym would open in 3 weeks. This was over 6 months ago, I forgot about it because it took 5 months to open, moved to NC. I just just charged $41. I called for a refund because I was lied to and don’t want to be part of this gym, was told I can ONLY cancel in person. They won’t refund my $41 even though the plan I initially signed up for was $21. Do not do business with these people, go to planet fitness where they do not hold you hostage and over charge you for a service you never received.

I love this gym and the classes! I just started going and it’s very clean! The staff is very helpful and nice. The only thing I dislike is they don’t have childcare so some days I have to miss out on going when I don’t have a babysitter hopefully soon they get it.

This gym doesn't hire instructors who are trained or certified in teaching the classes. I went to one class and this trainer told me to lift a 10 pound weights and bar which was to heavy for me. Also a plank on my knees. I hurt my left knee and left shoulder badly. I'm still hurting and in pain still. I had to go the doctor and still taking pain killers. This gym uses super heavy weights and super heavy bar for the class. No warmup during the class or cool down at the end of class which makes you prone to injuries. No modifications given for certain hard excerises.Be careful ladies in lifting heavy so you won't hurt yourselves!!!!

Worst customer service I've ever had. There is no way to get ahold of Corporate and I was lied to multiple times in the matter of getting a refund. Big scam. I signed up for a location that hadn't opened up yet and I ended up moving. I tried calling to speak to someone about the refund and no working phones operated. Have been coming to the gym since day 1 of the actual opening. Of course very minor flaws with a brand new gym opening, however the staff here are very helpful and knowing of all questions. It’s been 22 years since I’ve been in a gym. Grabbing a membership was easy and affordable. Amazing equipment and amazing employees. Would not recommend using. Chose to put a door cling advertisement on my vehicle on a day it was raining. Now their ad got red ink coloring on my vehicle while it was at my place of work.
