Just asked the trainer to use the inbody. He said to make an appointment and walked off. Thank you for 1 telling me how to make an appointment (fail) I guess I shall go back to my home gym where I can no use Inbody cause no one knows password. Poorly run establishment especially this one in Richardson. Stinky dirty toilets, broken TVs , broken equipment, crowded (more than city allowed capacity !), clueless, disinterested, impolite front desk staff, etc etc the list goes on..membership is not cheap when you add annual fees etc. Where are the managers who need to be looking into this establishment and fixing these issue?

Signed up for a guest pass. Did not "register" said whatever. Give me a month membership I just need a place with a sauna to stretch. Signed up. Walked to the locker room no sauna. I really like how clean this gym is — it’s always well-maintained and feels fresh every time I walk in. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes for a great atmosphere. I want to recognize James, who is one of the excellent porters at Retro Fitness for his work and leadership. One day I was on the stairmaster and one of my wireless earbuds accidentally fell into the bowels of the machine. James promptly helped me to retrieve the earbud and I want to thank him and honor him for that! Those earbuds are expensive to replace.

I’ve had a membership at this Richardson location for years (since it was youFit), but I was that member that never showed up. This year, I decided to take my fitness journey seriously, so after struggling to work out on my own for 4 months, I finally decided to sign up for personal training. I cannot say enough good about the personal trainers. They are so knowledgeable and helpful. I’m seeing amazing health benefits and physical results in just months!
The gym is always clean, equipment is good, and the staff is always so welcoming and friendly.

TLDR Do not go here or any retro fitness.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Long story, but I moved earlier this year. When I did, I called Retro Fitness to cancel my membership. They told me I had to either send a letter, or come in person to where I signed up at to cancel (terrible policy). So I sent a letter, I hadn't checked in some time but saw one day I was still being charged. Called and they told me they never received anything. Okay... not doing that again, asked if there's any way I can just cancel over the phone. Again the answer was no. Instead of dealing with them again since they dropped the ball, I had to contact my bank to tell them not to let them charge me any more money ( I already paid for months I never lived there or went to the gym).

That's when the harassing phone calls started about my account. Almost every other day I receive notices about my account etc etc. I've told them I tried to cancel already but it's some outside entity that handles that. I contacted Retro Fitness corporate to try and get some help, they were just rude and unhelpful, don't even bother going down that avenue. All they say is, they have nothing to do with the branches and to follow their cancellation policy ( I already did that). I then took to social media with my concerns and was promptly blocked from commenting or messaging Retro Fitness. I'm at my wits end with this gym. I've never had such a negative experience, which is a shame because the gym itself is actually an okay place to work out, but dealing with the actual company is terrible, their policies are terrible, and their customer service is even worse. Literally any help could have changed this review completely

I really appreciate that the treadmills have built-in TVs and Bluetooth audio support. However, I noticed a small but frustrating issue: on multiple treadmills and other machines, Channel 3 and Channel 4 have their audio swapped. When I select Channel 3, the video shows correctly, but the audio plays Channel 4’s sound, and vice versa. All the other channels seem to work perfectly.
It’s a minor issue, but it makes it hard to follow shows or news when the audio doesn’t match. I hope this can be fixed with a quick wiring or software check.

THIS GYM WORKS WITH PREDATORY SCAMMERS! The equipment is good, the workers there are nice at the atmosphere is great - but this gym is partnered with Canvas Personal Training, a VERY sketchy PT company. I had a nice time going here until a personal trainer called me up, told me I was eligible for a free session, and tricked me into signing up for a YEAR of personal training for $360 a month. When I realized what happened after 2 sessions, I tried to cancel and they had the AUDACITY to ask for $1600 to quit. I had to change my credit card number and now I need to find a new gym that's still close to me!
Thanks for ruining my opinion of this gym. I won't be coming back until Canvas PT is long gone.

Good luck cancelling your membership. I followed the directions exactly per my agreement and sent the certified letter to their parent company. THEY CONFIRMED RECEIPT AND STRAIGHT UP TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP.

I updated my card information with a fake card so they couldn't charge me. Got a message today that I need to update my payment method or risk getting sent to collections. LOL

I canceled my membership in July. Then I still got charged in August. I called them for the refund and now it’s been more than a month and still didn’t get the refund. One of the staffs J__ was really rude. He kept cutting me off several times during our conversation and even hung up on me. I even had to call back to talk to someone else. They kept telling me to wait and I couldn’t speak to the manager. Until today bc I still didn’t get my money back so I called back and J he still gave me attitude. I love this gym! The people are great and has become a little family in my neighborhood. Jody's salsa classes on Wednesday and Fridays are amazing. Brandon has a dance class on Tuesday and Thursday evening that are so energetic and fun. This gym has become my home.

I recommend this place “RETRO FITNESS AT RICHARDSON”. The staff & management team are so nice, helpful & welcome every guest & members as soon as you enter the door. Their communication with guests is sweet. I have talked with Jim & other staff at the front desk. They would give a tour on the same day & give you 3 days free pass (also for your guest).
Lots of training equipments & they are all ready for you & you don’t have to wait.
Variety exciting classes for you to join at any ages. I’ve been enjoying all classes there. All the instructors are so nice.

Went to this gym for 3 years and the upgrades from the remodel were amazing improvements. Staff was nice in the morning and let me get in an out. Equipment was maintained through the time. Canceling my membership only took 10 minutes. Going to miss how clean the gym was and how easy it was to get in and get a good workout done.

I have been a member for 3 months. I wasn't sure what to expect, so I've hung on to my previous gym membership just in case I regret my decision. I must say that I love this gym. It has great equipment and super clean but the staff is something special. They really make you feel at home and make the whole experience even better. I have also done 3 months of personal training, so far and the sessions are the highlight of my week. Coach Aaron has really helped push me and keep me accountable to my goals. This is an okay gym. We started coming here after Gold’s Gym closed. The front staff is nice and welcoming. It’s pretty packed and hard to find available machines/weights Monday through Wednesdays in the evening. Bathrooms are always clean.

One thing I really don’t like is when they play very loud music over a Bluetooth speaker. Most days they just play a variety of genres over the intercom system. The intercom’s volume is acceptable and I can still listen to my preferred music peacefully, without having to blast my headphones all the way up.

I was in to cancel a membership. If I cancelled right then and signed up later, it would be more expensive. I’ve had a great experience with Retro Fitness so far. It was previously YouFit, but I never was a member there. They haven’t renovated yet, so the branding and layout is exactly the same as YouFit.

The membership is cheaper than LA Fitness across the street for more benefits, a less crowded gym, and a much better/friendlier atmosphere and staff. Happy I made the switch to Retro!

UPDATE: Amended my review because over the past two months the gym has been closed with no warning and for no reason as to why. It’s frustrating to wake up early, get ready, and drive to the gym only for it to be closed.

I've been a member since 2016 and seen this location go from YouFit to RetroFitness. I was worried with the change that all of the staff were going to change and that we would lose some of our benefits of membership. After the dishonesty at the Dallas location, I did not give up on the YouFit. It was a staff issue. As a customer, I do not like feeling like someone was lying to me to get a sale. It’s not the way to do business!

I went to this location and my problems were resolved. Nice clean gym. Nice front desk staff that has a friendly demeanor and explained everything. I’m happy I made the decision to go to another location than to completely give up on the franchise! Happy to be a new member :). Shady practices are a big NO for me. Go to Youfit but try every location except the Dallas one for a more better experience.

Easy parking. Clean and modern. Reasonable fees. Smoothie place next door for post workout. Alicia is always friendly and helpful. Music is never too loud - you can still easily have a conversation. Spencer has been training me to improve overall health and tone. He's very mindful of outside injuries I've had and how to accommodate around it while still making progress.

I’ve Been going to youfit for a year now I’ve made amazing progress they have a wide selection of machines and free weights I can proudly say that this gym will fit any sort of workout your trying to get in

Terribly loud rap music that overrides my earbuds. Unprofessional overweight staff. One would think they would hire fit people to work at Youfit instead of not just overweight but obese people.
I decided to cancel my membership and they charged me an additional month and a cancellation fee on top of paying another month. When I asked why was there an additional fee the staff member said it's a $10, 10-day rule. I asked what that meant but he was never fully able to explain it other than just repeating it's a $10, 10-day rule.
Don't count on the staff opening the gym on the stated door hours either if you go in early. My reason for canceling the membership was stated above as well as constantly having their TVs on CNBC and CNN propaganda.

No frills with plenty of free weights and machines. New treadmills just arrived. Could use two more free weight squat machines. Music level toned down so more pleasant atmosphere. Clean and equipment well maintained. Worth it.

Youfit is a great gym, everyone is very friendly, never had problems with anyone there. I forgot my pass one time and they didn’t give me any trouble and signed me in. Everyone is always saying hello when someone walks in, Dae is a very friendly worker and is fun to talk to.

Sometimes going to the gym feels like a routine but when you go to one with an amazing atmosphere with even more amazing staff, it just motivates you to just get it every time!

Been a member 3+ years and I have zero complaints about this place. They have all new modern equipment, bathroom/locker room is well kept, whole gym is always clean thanks to frank. Javier and Austin in front desk are always friendly and welcoming, asking me how my day is and giving me a few words of motivation to get me pumped for my workout. Did I mention they do all kinds of classes, free for lime members which is only $20 per month which gives you the ability to bring in 1 guest for free in case you don’t want to go alone. I’ve tried plenty of other gyms but this one is perfect for me. Who knows, you might love it too.

This place is not good even though they take money from direct from the bank and they are telling you you have late fee when I sign frist time they say that if you cancel before the your due date there's no payment but they asking cancelation fee I have never seen the place like this stop cheating people when you start they charge you 10$ only but they keep telling you anual fee two time of the month I don't recommend this place if there is negative starthey deserve one horrible place to work over there here

I’ve been going to this gym for about a year now, and for what you pay monthly it’s a decent gym.

The gym is clean and the equipment is decent. The locker rooms are clean for the most part, I just wish they had better showers.

I workout every morning where it’s nice and quiet. It does get a little busy after work, but not to a point where all the machines are taken.

The best part of working out in the mornings is seeing Alicia and her smiling face. She’s amazing.
