Whoever is reading this, I just found out that Rising Fitness is permanently closed and the comments here confirm that. I am still paying my membership price but I received an email from “Dynamic Fitness - Katy/BarkerCypress location” so they probably transferred all of us to that gym now. I hope this helps! HOMELESS PEOPLE SHOWER IN THE POOL HERE!!!!!

I have been at this location since it was 24 hour fitness. (12 years) Once it became rising fitness, it was downhill from there. There is no proper cleaning or maintenance on any of the machines. Plenty of the dumbbells are becoming loose and have flaps of rubber hanging off of them. The “cleaning stations” are always out of paper towels, and cleaning agent. The machines are crooked and lots of them have just shifted on the gym floor and are very close to each other. The worst of all is that they never can seem to find reliable staff that can open the gym at 5 AM. There’s been at LEAST 5 times that I’ve arrived at 5:30 am only to find the gym closed. There’s always only one person on staff managing the entire gym. The only time they have more staff is during the middle of the day when it’s slow. Any person who regularly attends the gym knows that early morning hours and evening hours are prime time. The last straw for me was when I came in on a slow Saturday afternoon and saw several homeless people showering in the pool. DO NOT SIGN UP HERE AND/OR CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP!

- the gym is still good for the price, but has somewhat declined in quality over time. It's quite common to find some machines to be broken now. Additionally, they were closed during the morning with no notice, which I'm sure likely ruined some people's routine. It'll be interesting to see how they fare over time as new establishments open in the Katy area.

***Original Review***
Rising Fitness is an affordable gym located in the north Katy area. Starting with a $10/mo rate, their bigger competitors at this price point are Planet Fitness or (more realistically) Fitness Connection. Rising Fitness used to be a 24 Fitness, but was acquired and redesigned as such. Because of this, it has much of the amenities you would find in one (steam room, sauna, swimming pool, dance classes, day care) with the exception of sports. The staff does an amazing job keeping the facility clean and assisting with putting weights back. The gym also opens later on the weekdays in comparison to both competitors. For those that commonly go to the gym with a friend or significant other, their buddy pass system makes it much more affordable. Being an extra $10 per month, it allows for you to bring an additional person.
All in all, if your goal is to hit the gym for a low cost, this gym does a solid job. It is slightly smaller than the competition around them, so I would also take advantage of their 5 day free trial to see if the equipment meets your Fitness needs.

***8 Month Update***
Here are some additional things noted after going to this gym an additional 5 months. For the price, my rating is still 5/5

- Gym is 30-40% less busy than Fitness Connections during the morning and evening
- Machines DO tend to need more maintenance than Fitness Connections
- Refill of the paper towel and sanitizer is usually consistent, but will sometimes be empty during peak times.
- AC in the weight area is hotter than near the cardio machine with the gigantic fan.

*1.5 year update*
- The gym has definitely risen in popularity! While not busy in the mornings, the afternoons definitely are. Though, this is the case for almost all gyms at this price point.
- The buddy pass now requires that your buddy has an ID present. But, it's still worth it as you avoid the annual fee.
- Most machines work well and weights are placed back in a timely manner. As of this update, the only machine that remains broken is the calf press next to the men's restroom.

Horrible experience. They will not let you cancel/ make it extremely hard, charge you extra months, and not refund you or call you back. 10/10 will not recommend. Idk if I’m even cancelled yet because they won’t call me back but I am still getting charged. Please go with another gym, because this is ridiculous. We have been there for years and to be treated this way is very disappointing. The gym was not great (machines are old and some have bite marks???) but the process to cancel is the WROST. So, I used my free trial and immediately walking in the front desk attendants were really polite. Walking through the gym well that’s where problems arise. The equipment is old and very rusty, throughout the gym you see a lot of dirt, I only saw one wipe station to clean off the equipment, everything is too close together, the pool was nasty, and in the women’s separate workout area there was a lot of men in there which I found strange. Not to mention the startup fee for the basic plan was $149 which is delusional. Definitely not worth that price. I suggest using the free trial before committing to this gym. Also if you read a lot of the low star reviews, people are complaining of the cancellation process.

Don’t sign up… once you sign you can never quit. These people never stop pulling from your account. They’ve been pulling for a solid 16 months after I “Cancelled.” Good luck getting a call back from a manger. Every time I call the person I need to talk to is not there. I never get a call back. When I finally got a hold of a “manager” he said to send a certified and notarized letter to cancel the two accounts I have with them. I did as he asked. They stopped collecting for about 2 months. Then they changed their name to ABC Rising Fitness and started collecting again. I decided enough was enough. I had to shut down my account to stop the bleeding. After that they had the audacity to text me and tell me that they were having trouble collecting for my account. Just criminal. They will be talking to my lawyer.

Honestly the Jokes about gym cancellations were funny and I felt exaggerated till I met this gym. I would warn away anyone whoever may move or change their minds. This gym is not helpful at all. I moved out of state in June and forgot to cancel my membership I called and requested to end it and was informed I had to come in person seeing as I know live 7hrs away that was not ideal. After informing me the other method which I found too lengthy a process if it involves me missing or scheduling out of work I find it’s not worth it. I let it go seeing as I knew I was coming back in October to finish my final leg of moving so I just continued to pay for the 4 months. NO ONE informed me at any point that I can ONLY cancel a membership from Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. For a gym whose whole marketing to me was the long hours of operation for inclusivity to everyone’s schedules this is wildly unacceptable. So basically if your hours don’t align or maybe like me you work two jobs and don’t have the average availability they expect you to call out to do something that should be simple. The fact is that it should have been stressed as a time frame or even mentioned to begin with. During this whole process I’ve found that the gym and the people running it don’t really care about its patrons. Minus the employee who was at the desk today who was very patient and empathetic seeing as he had no power to help me everyone else I’ve been in contact with has been sorely lacking in the customer service department. From nonchalance when explaining my situation to find a solution and then several long holds to employees hanging up while I wait on hold to a person in charge who offered to call back but never did. And then now when I was in the store the front desk worker wasn’t on the phone for more than 1 to 2 minutes while explaining the issue before he hung up because the higher up couldn’t be bothered. I sit in there parking lot now to type this still with out being able to cancel my membership. Not without having to miss work and I’m sorry this gym is not that important. I’ve been to better gyms I only went here for the “convenience” it offered.

I go in to see if they'll do a trial and there's no one available to help. I absolutely love the friendly atmosphere at this gym! I always feel welcomed when I enter and leave. One of the things I appreciate is that they have partnered with Big Splash Swim School, which offers amazing swim lessons for all ages and even has swim team practice. My daughter and I both take swim lessons here, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a welcoming gym with excellent swim lesson options!

Not a bad place to workout at, but the customer service and monthly plans are awful. I was recently charged $15 extra for 2 previous monthly payments that were made due to a “late fee” that was never mentioned or brought up when I first started the membership, as well as a random $54 charge a day after my monthly payment.I explained to the supervisor/manager that the payment wasn’t late because I couldn’t pay it, but because I keep my money in savings rather than my spending acc to avoid theft in case something happens with my debit card. The supervisor told me nothing was able to be done about the extra $30 I’ve been charged, and that I have to just make sure I move the amount over to my spendings before the first day of the next month. The $54 dollar charge turned out to be the yearly fee that I thought I paid for when I first started the membership since I was charged $76 for the first month, and because the employee helping me get started explained it that way. But apparently you have to pay a $50 initiation fee for the first month as well as the $54 yearly fee on top of the 12 monthly payments of $23.80. Overall, it is just a big lack of communication and training over at rising fitness. The fact that the employees don’t know exactly how their own payment plans work is concerning since that is the most important thing for new members to know. Nobody likes losing money so it’s pretty frustrating that within my 4 months of being with the gym, I’ve already been charged $80 extra than I was expected to be paying for a whole year.

Good gym, the price is great. Awesome that a pool, sauna and hot tub are included. There just isn’t enough free weights or benches. I find it annoying that gyms just fill up with tred mills and machines. Just want free weights and open benches to use. Honestly I would pay $20 a month for this gym if they added some free weights. Even when the gym is pretty slow I can’t even get the free weights I need. Good luck when it’s busy. Hotel gyms have more free weights. Other thing, they need 2 1/2 pound plates for benching. They only have 5 pounds so if I’m trying to increase my bench I have to go 10 pounds at a time or stay at the weight. It’s hard to make incremental steps. I think the interior layout is also a mess. I’m sure if they reorganized and added things here and there this gym has potential to charge more.

This might be a good gym from some but not me. The place is not particularly clean and most of the treadmills don't work right and the customer service is non-existent! They work hard to get you to sign up but when you want to cancel, its like pulling teeth. Went in 9/11 (morning) to cancel my membership completed the form and was told that the woman who handles cancellations had gone to the bank and will call me back later in the day. no call on Monday or Tuesday, spoke to someone Wednesday morning who said the woman was in but they could not locate her, but she would definitely call me back. its 4pm, no one has called me back and I just tried calling the location and was hang up on, not once, but 3 times. I’ve been coming to this location since it was 24 fitness, location is convenient for me. It’s overall clean, they have amazing group classes, equipment is ok. They have down units for months, and the AC in the group class room is usually not working properly.
Their front desk staff never knows what’s going on. You can ask them for information about schedules, membership questions and they are quick to tell you they don’t know or aren’t sure and to get with a manager.

Canceled my membership over a year ago and they never canceled it, they kept charging me. They owe me about $160. I keep getting the runaround, they say they're going to call me with a resolution and they never do. Then they change their mind and say I'll receive an email from corporate about it. What I want to receive is the money they've taken from my bank account this year without my authorization! One manager in particular seems incensed to give it back - she acts entitled to it and like I'm lucky to be talking to them at all. She has been absolutely awful. Avoid this place and go somewhere reputable. There are no guarantees they'll actually cancel your membership when you decide to leave.

Just signed up and it’s an awesome gym so far but I so recommend to the owners the following suggestions for an even better experience:

*Motivational posters and a splash of color on the walls

*Clocks

*Not playing the depressing news on the tvs but showing motivational videos instead.

*Amp the shop up

*Include a Rotary torso machine

*Install a Bottle filler on the Water fountains

*Have Paper towels available in the restroom

Other than that, I like it, my kid loves the kid’s club and since I got the guest pass for cheap, my guests also are very impressed with it. Im so glad I signed up. It’s super cheap per month and no contacts. We’re very happy here. Would recommend.

The main reason I joined is bc they have a women’s only section which is great n I don’t believe I’ve seen any other gym in the area that offers that! But the one complain I have is that for whatever reason some of the male gym goers don’t seem to understand that it’s only women area. I wish they would enforce that bc it literally defeats the point of having a woman’s only area if men r there.

Other than that I have no complaints about this place. It’s always clean and the staff is super nice and professional. I like that they are open until midnight and open at 5 am. I tend to workout nights n I always feel safe when I leave the gym.

Edit as of April 3rd, 2023: I canceled my membership in person, even though I did this I am still getting charged a monthly membership. When I call I am told I need to speak to the “person responsible for my account” and they will give me a call which never comes in. Anyway I will now have to go in person to take care of this but at this point I am really frustrated.

Edit 2 as of April 4th, 2023, I tried to resolve this but was told once again the person “uncharged of my account” (I canceled my membership so not sure how someone is in charge of my account) was not available. So now I am with my bank so they will block any additional charges going foward. For this reason I decided to remove my 4 start review to one but if it was up to me it would be no stars.

I had to leave the gym because of work. I get out around midnight and so I signed up for planet fitness but I loved it here. The people are nice, especially AARON, and I'll definitely rejoin when my hours change.

I'm a happy member, I love to use the pool and the Sauna. My coach Cesar is doing a great job helping me with my goals. My general experience is great, the free session with the 3D scanner to understand the current measures on your body was helpful to identify my goal.

We have a membership here for one person and then I go as his extra person - so affordable!!! It is clean (currently very busy in the new year) and they offer group classes. I wish they offered more Zumba classes and would LOVE an evening yoga class!!!!!!!!!

I have been a member of a few gyms over the years and I have to say this is one of a kind. I've been a part of big chain gyms where you can't get near any machines except a treadmill or you have the sense of "shun the new guy" mentality instead of encouraging or welcoming and that sucks, especially when it's been years since you've stepped foot in a gym. You get the perks of a big gym with the mom and pop atmosphere. Since day 1, staff, trainers and other members have been amazing, approachable and super friendly! I never thought I would EVER get a personal trainer, since I was a former athlete, I was pretty sure I knew what I was doing, but I'm so glad that I did. My trainer, Matthew, actually pays attention to my goals and has never prevented me from continually pushing forward. All of the trainers are super approachable and it doesn't matter if you have one on one sessions with them or not, they will help anyone who asks! Where else can you find a gym where the trainers are THAT approachable?! I look forward to being at this gym every day and have to force myself to take a rest day. To Andy and his amazing team, keep being awesome!!

The Rising fitness gym feels dirty often. While the floors are clean, the equipment feels just gross to me.

There are always two or three employees standing around the front desk and while I appreciate them greeting me, they also spend a lot of time just talking instead of cleaning, wiping down equipment, etc. I don't think I've ever seen any of the Rising Fitness staff cleaning while I am there.

While the weight area to the left when you walk in looks nice but if you go back by the free weights, the equipment and weights are worn, often dirty, rusted, not sorted. They also don't have enough weights to provide for the team so you have to constantly try to work in with someone else and usually get dirty looks for asking. Members often don't put up their weights and the employees don't clean up the weights or put them back in order. I spend more time looking for 25 to 35 lb weights vs working out.

I also don't get the sense of community that I've had in other gyms before joining this one. There are a lot of gym bros standing around talking and not letting others work in. The gym bro's also seem to be there to tear up the equipment. I would expect the employees to stop people from tearing up the equipment but they seem to ignore it or don't care.

On my last visit the large fan over the cardio area was broke and the young lady at the front desk had no idea when it'd be fixed. All the TV's in the cardio area are usually playing cop shows, news, or their ads they sell to local businesses. Just disappointing honestly.

I'm probably dropping my membership this month and moving back to Anytime Fitness or a cleaner gym in the area. I don't recommend them at this point. They need to upscale a bit more to keep clients that want to spend more for a better gym experience.

I had a very bad experience at this place by the rude and descriminatory approach one of the staff I think is the manager I’m not sure what is her name maybe Elizabeth she is short and faction of rough face all the time she looks angry and very rude she come to me she asked me if I planned to do another exercise on that machine I told her already finished she told me that I couldn’t leave the machine with weights this is ridiculous just leave two weights in the squatting machine I think she was exaggeration with me many more people leave a lot of weight in the machines she told me that could cancel my subscription just for that she is ridiculous I didn’t tell him anything because I do have education but it was rude I told my husband and he told me that a should have told her to cancel it he told me there a many gyms

My daughters and I come here as well as my little one for childcare while we work out and we love it!! Jaime and Andy are always so helpful with any of my membership needs or questions. The gym and equipment are always clean the whole staff is so friendly and awesome.. and our Trainer Alejandro is the best of the best!! We are so happy with our results and are already so close to our goals. I had other trainers in the past at other locations and I gave up so quickly but with Alejandro it's different he has been training us for a few weeks now and has kept us really motivated and going ,we look forward to training every week he is also very understanding, athletic and is always in such good spirits. I highly recommend this location, their trainers and staff to everyone.

Did the 5 day guest pass recently. For $10 a month it’s definitely worth the price.
Only cons I saw were some bugs in the showers and a limited dumbbell rack.
Pros: not many people even during busy hours, pool, lots of space and friendly staff.

What's not to love about this little neighborhood gym? Their clientele is vast and varied but they aren't over-worked like most big-box gyms in the area. I love the fact that they have a sauna and a "hot box" to choose from after your workout. An added plus is the fact that they have a swimming pool with a couple laps for those days when its just way too hot for a run or bike-ride. And if you've lived in Houston long enough, you know those days are many. They also have a dedicated area just for women which is a great addition for any smaller gym that wants to bring in newer members. I know they have a daycare service, but being that all my kids are grown, I've never had to use it. All in all, a great place for a great monthly price.

I’ve been a member here since the beginning of January & I honestly love it! They have so much to offer for the price, many of my friends also come here. I love the ladies area because I can get intimidated with all the guys by the weights. Honestly everyone is so friendly & I’ve started working out over there (when there’s barely anyone here lol). I’ve seen some reviews about staff & I always walk in with a smile saying hi & bye when I leave & I’m always greeted back nicely. Jamie is especially nice & has great hospitality! I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone because off the variety the gym has to offer with your membership & the friendly environment (:

The place is great. If you've been to this place as a 24 hr fitness is pretty much the same layout. The place has a pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub, lockers and showers in the restroom, and pretty much all the standard weight lifting and cardio equipment. They have a small turf area with Olympic weights for those who deadlift (as well as a trap bar), battle ropes, kettle bells, medicine balls, and boxes. I wish they had a sled for the turf area and the bottle refill stations but other than that it's a good gym.

Was one of the first customers when this place opened, went off to college and attempted to cancel my account few months later I notice it’s just frozen and I’m still being charged 9 and 30 dollars a month, I tried going in and canceling no manager available called many times never got any sort of response, finally this past month get ahold of a manager and she proceeded to tell me there was nothing she could do about me being charged all that time and was extremely disrespectful on the phone talking over me raising her voice, never even got it sorted out by any means, would highly suggest taking your money else where this gym is unprofessionally run by immature adults that don’t understand customer satisfaction

I highly recommend this gym if you are looking at getting signed up I would recommend asking for Angel as he is highly professional. He will make you feel at home right away and is the opposite from other gyms where they come of as pushy.
