The Summer camp is awesome. My daughter really enjoys it. She is worn out by the time I pick her up. The only reason I didnt give a 5 Star because its hard get in contact with someone to cancel a week. They never even responded to my email. Luckily, my daughter didnt go out of town, so she was able to go. The first day was also confusing to where to drop her off.
Outside of that, it was great I wish the gym had more weight machines.

Great swimming classes for kids. Both of my children learned how to swim. The teachers were patient and went at their level. I wish they would bring back the class for teenagers. My teen son really benefited from the class. His swimming skills greatly improved. Overall great classes.

Our experience with the Ryan Family YMCA Summer Camp (@ JA Hargrave Elementary) has been truly positive. I especially appreciated the weekly swimming sessions and field trips, which added variety and excitement to my son’s summer. The staff was always friendly and welcoming, and my son seemed to genuinely enjoy his time at camp. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Andrew Pettis for his consistent communication. His emails kept me informed of upcoming activities and helped me stay engaged with what was happening at camp. I also appreciated seeing his active presence at YMCA events like Food Truck Mondays and the Safety Around Water lessons after camp hours. It meant a lot to see him greet my son at these events. It truly showed a level of care and community connection that I value as a parent. Thank you again for creating such a supportive and fun environment for the kids this summer!

I love this YMCA but I do have 1 concern . While walking inside and outside by the pool I found it to be very slippery. I was barefoot and almost fell twice . I wish there was something they could put on the floor to help older patrons from falling and in dressing rooms as well . 😢😢

The Ryan YMCA is a great gym for seniors who are trying to stay fit. The instructors are very knowledgeable and they're very caring as well. Most of the 'Y' gyms have consist and ongoing Silver Sneaker Classes, so seniors can stay consistent with their exercise program and make new friends at the same time. I haven't really seen consistant SiIver Sneaker Classes at the other local gyms and this location is so convenient for me. I would highly recommend visiting your local YMCA and checking it out because they can offer exactly what seniors need to try to stay healthy. I've heard some members complain and grumble about various minor issues but no gym is perfect and I've joined about six total in the past. The good thing is people have choices and they can always go to another fancier facility if they wish. But, I've had two other "fancy" gyms shut down on me, so I always come back to the YMCA because they've been pretty dependable over all these years.

Distasteful experiences. I tried to give this location more than one chance. I moved in the summer of 2024. I’ve been having a ymca membership for years and have been to various locations across DFW. I went to this location and they had to register me as out of state every time I would go. It took forever as it seemed they only had one computer functioning for certain things. They had asked if I wanted to change my home location to theirs and I said no since I was testing out the place. Thank goodness I did not change it. Then to sign in my 2 kids for child watch, I was sent back from the child watch to the front desk to register my kids. One child watch worker even went to the front desk to make sure I was there to register them! I peeked to check on my kids and saw my youngest being rough house with another slightly older kid and saw the workers just standing there. One day, I used crocs for an upper body and core training and I was asked to leave in the middle of exercising calmly if I didn’t have tennis shoes. I’ve been to SEVERAL locations with crocs on and had 0 issues. They are so picky with things it’s ridiculous. The locker rooms are decent. The outside pool looks appealing. The weight room machines are outdated, flimsy, super wear and tear. There’s more cardio machines than weight ones. The child watch hours end early.

The Ryan YMCA is an affordable resource for my family to be active and grow healthy together. It is actually a great resource for every member of the community. I love the variety of classes they provide and swim resources. Besides the churches, it is likely the very best part of the neighborhood. A lot of land being unused on the property. Would love an edible farming class option that gives farming lessons and helps plant a community garden to provide nutrition resources for participants and donations to those in need.

The Ryan YMCA is a clean, bright facility with close parking. The equipment workout area is specious with multiple machines. It has separate wet & dry locker rooms. I primarily use the indoor pool which is a fantastic, updated large & well-lit facility. Ryan has numerous community engagement opportunities & spacious, very visible child care. Horrible first time experience here. I attended the community pool party that was scheduled 3-7. They were rude …. Threatened to kick kids out for running including little TODDLERS… then SCREAMED at everyone to get out the pool 40 minutes early …so they could perform some fake test and kept the pool closed. Horrible pool experience! As this was my family’s very first time utilizing our membership with the YMCA. Firstly the swim staff wasn’t friendly at all. Definitely felt as though they were treating us as low class citizens. After the staff continued to yell at children as young as 2 years old “WALK, WALK” (with attitudes/ some staff members in regular clothing) thinking children would even know who they were. and expected them to listen to such a harsh approach! That was my first que to leave and I should’ve listened to my instincts because after dealing with the rude approaches of staff 40 minutes before the “Community Block Party” was scheduled to end, all lifeguards began to yell “GET OUT OF THE POOL” causing children to run frantically towards their parents in confusion. And as I’m trying to figure out what is happening I see a lifeguard preforming CPR on a training dummy on the side of the pool. Kids staring with fear in their eyes as they were signal handily traumatized at the expense of a horrible training call. I watched their faces as they tried to make sense of what was going on. Kids begun to cry as they were told they could no longer swim and it was time to leave. I will NEVER return to this location or at least the pool! Stressful experience by far

The treadmill machines have been on the blink since I signed up in March … with “request” put in already although 3 months not one has been fixed.

The pool is nice …. When you can use it. I get the systems for kids to learn to swim but in addition to make up swim lessons that’s have a time slot … it takes from the limited time for open swim … you know that you pay for on the membership.

Yes it’s only for “two weeks” but that’s half of the reason I go here. The other half is the treadmills that are barely there.

Manny Ramirez. I suggest any Hispanic person going to this YMCA not to go, they are completely racist. My mom has a membership to the YMCA a family membership and called ahead of time to this location to see if we were able to go swim even though she got her membership out of town. They told her yes, we could as long as we signed up as guest due to not being able to find her in their system.(she had her membership keycard with her) we came and were literally wearing swimsuits and the receptionist had us fill out the guest forms as we were filling out guest forms another member was getting help, and while looking at us up and down goes “if you need to go ahead and help someone else out go ahead. I know there time is limited probably to be able to use a real pool” then after everything was said and done (mind you I had my 4 year old done with me who was so excited to swim due to it being a hot day) the receptionist goes “oh are you trying to use the pool?” And we said yes ofc we’re all wearing swimsuits, and the proceeds to to say “oh the outside pool is closed for a private party and our inside pool is closed” after signing everything and handing over ID, calling ahead they talk us last minute that we could use either pools, and we had to leave dragging my crying 4 year old out. I blame both receptionists ignorance and management’s racism. I do not believe you should take your family here. Poor management, and made feel completely uncomfortable, unsafe, invisible and just like we didn’t belong.

I do not recommend this YMCA to any adult learning to swim. I told the instructor verbally that I had never been in a pool before. I also gave that information on the online sign up form prior to the lessons. The very first thing she had me to do was get in and immediately learn back and attempt to float. Not fun getting a nose full of water as soon as you get in.
These people do not talk to you about how to move in the water or help you get acclimated to it at all. Just hop in and lean back.
The young Caucasian female lifeguard was very rude when I asked her a question. Each time I came in she had a very unwelcoming, unfriendly demeanor.
Happy to be resuming swim lessons with another organization who knows how to properly train people who are new to the water.

I used to love this place. It was my happy place. I would schedule my day around going to the gym. It was peaceful, people were friendly, and there never was a problem. They have a new manager, Manny Ramirez and he has a new boss, Andrew Pettis. They have really made this place not welcoming. They won't entertain even adding a class that is not line dancing or Zumba. I've asked, many times and they say they aren't adding new classes but then they add the ridiculous line dancing class and a tai chi class. They say it is because they didn't satisfy their yearly campaign amount so they cannot afford to hire an instructor. I was an instructor. They do not get paid much at all. I cannot believe that the YMCA doesn't have enough money to pay 1 instructor to teach 1 fast-paced class. The manager says it is bc the 5 or 6 Zumba classes they offer have high attendance. I understand that but if you never offer a class, like the one I requested or similar, then your attendance for that class will be zero. You cannot claim that you don't have the member support of a class if you don't offer it. This place used to be great. Last week, it was great. I could just go when the manager is not there but I think I will cancel my membership, my 3 kids' memberships, my mother's membership, my father's membership, my husband's membership, and my sister's membership. And, I will take that charitable donation and give it to another organization. This makes me very sad. I've been a member for right around 10 years but when you have a scared young manager and a controlling director, prepare for customer service to go straight down the drain, as it has here. Avoid this Y at all costs and please consider donating to another organization's annual campaign. Also, if you want to cancel your membership, don't ask anyone at the guest services desk to do it. They won't. I asked about this and was told that the employees at the front desk could not cancel memberships at the customer's request because the employees made too many mistakes in the past. I suggest the Y train their employees but I was accused of being argumentative.

I've taken a few tai chi classes, and Jan is the best teacher I've ever had. I'm so impressed with her clear explanations and encouragement. Most teachers would not be able to talk and move and watch the class as well as she does. She's looking out for our anatomy and safety. I've been a dance teacher in the past, so I understand how difficult it can be. I hope you will add a second weekly tai chi class to the schedule.

Don't get private swim lessons here. Very unorganized and terrible communication. Lessons were delayed over 30 minutes the first time and they couldn't find my instructor for the 2nd lesson. Staff in front were super nice. Gym looked clean and organized. Unfortunately that's where the good stops. We came here to enjoy the outdoor pool and splash pad. But only the outer pad was turned on. The other 70% of the water features were not operating, and on top of that, they also would not run the waterside because someone decided that swim lessons were going to be moved to the small outdoor pool, which also meant that multiple times people were asked to move to the "shallow" end to make room for the swim lessons which shouldn't have even been there. More than that, I was not allowed to bring my youngest child, who has special needs and was wearing a flotation device, to the 'deep side' (deep being 4.5') even if I was holding her. Never been to a pool with such a crazy restriction.
If you saw the splash park and were considering getting a membership...don't.

All the children are placed in a playroom while the young ladies in there just talk to each other and do very little supervision. The outside pool is also dirty and somehow, always at capacity. My daughter was born with a diagnosis that left her wheelchair bound from birth. Saturday July 9, 2022 my daughter and I went to the Ryan YMCA to go swinning where we were turn away because we were told that no one at the pool knew how to use the lift which would place her in the pool. The staff didn't knew how to press a button to move the lift so she could get in the water where I would have been standing there to receive her. A refund of my July fee and canceling my account doesn't take the tear she cried and the embarrassment she left away. Saying that you're going to make sure there all train now doesn't change anything for her. I hope the changing were made and the next child doesn't have to go through that pain. Have a blessed day

For context, I’ve been coming here for 3 years and all I’ve ever done is free weights. This place has the basic equipment you’ll need for bodybuilding but as you progress over time you’ll realize how limited you are compared to most other gyms. Especially since they don’t often take care of the equipment. For example, the pull up bar has a torn up right handle and it’s been that way for about 6 months now. There isn’t much space when it gets semi-crowded and the limited equipment really comes into play when that happens. All in all my complaints are small and there isn’t much the staff can do regardless and they’ve for the most part have always been friendly and easy going.

Generally great place, staff seems pretty nice. Don’t count of ever using either pool. They need some sort of active online scheduling so people know if they can count on swimming. Contrary to the schedule the indoor pool is NOT open in the evening as it’s being used for lessons aside from a lap lane 5 people are already sharing. This has been the case for at last the past month or two.

So, 3rd time this week I’ve tried to go swimming only to be turned away. Seriously, do NOT trust the schedule. EVER. Today, the indoor pool was closed for lessons and the outdoor pool was closed for a party/capacity. Day before, chemical issue outside and lessons inside. I even called earlier today before my family went to the trouble of getting ready, sunscreen on, etc.

I have heel pain so swimming is one of the only ways to get some cardio in without pain. With only two lap lanes ‘sometimes’ open, it’s really frustrating.

I went here before college 15 years ago, my family has gone here, and now returned to the area. The indoor pool hasn’t been updated since then as far as I can tell but still okay, a little rough and outdated.

The instructors are friendly, fun and great motivators. The music working out to golden oldies is also fun. Great group and the socialization piece is added benefit. The
