I've been going to RYDE for a year now. Most of my cycling classes through ClassPass are with RYDE. I've enjoyed CJ's classes the most, he gets me pumped and never feels discouraging to newbies or criticize you for not wanting to do certain exercises.
Unfortunately I'm taking off one star for a specific instructor, Gustavo. I wanted to really vibe with the class but there were some things that rubbed me the wrong way with him. First thing that happened, he started the class ahead of class time at 5:25pm. I came in at 5:28pm and the first thing I hear is that I "must be new and might need help on the bike." I declined to the person helping me and got on the bike myself. During the class, I typically don't do any of the choreography that doesn't feel right for me and this has never been an issue. Everyone has different capabilities and it felt very pushy with him on the mic. Sometimes I come here after work just to ride!

I go to Ryde with my husband 4-5 times per week and we love it! Gustavo’s classes are our favorite. He’s fun, friendly and will hype you up! His classes are like a dance party. We love Latin nights! On top of that, the studio is very clean and the staff is efficient.

I have had the best few months since starting Ryde. Every instructor has been great, the people working the studio have been super kind, and every class has been a blast. They do an amazing job of making you feel welcome at both studios and comfortable to ask for help or anything you need.

The Sunday Reggeaton and Rave class is literally everything! The instructor is so hyped up that he truly motivates you to take it a step further. The facility is pretty well kept, only con is that the surrounding parking you have to pay for but there is free street parking (only Sundays)

I just took my first class with instructor Leon. It was so difficult but also so much fun. I feel great afterwards but I know I’ll be sore tomorrow! Everyone was so welcoming, it was honestly like a little community. León knew everyone in the classes name, including mine even though it was my first time. Everyone was really supportive of one another as well. At some times I wasn’t able to keep up with everyone else but after the class the instructor told me that it’s completely fine to push yourself as much as you can for the first couple classes that you can modify it to your needs. This was definitely a good workout, I really loved the music and I feel great. I will absolutely be taking another class and hoping to integrate this into my weekly routine.
They provide cycling shoes and a towel, and they passed out a nice cold towel as the class was ending. There are lockers to safely lock up your stuff as well. I recommend getting to your first class a bit early to get your shoes on and situated on your bike. I hit really bad traffic and was a few mins late and that was a bit stressful to enter the class after it had begun.

Ryde is hands down the best cycling studio in Houston/Texas! I’ve been going to Ryde for almost 8 years and the instructors continue to challenge me every single class! They also do a fantastic job of mixing heavy and light resistance. This place will make you an athlete!! Highly recommend.

I’ve watched staff act fake; making clients think they’re “in” the community & that they care about them just to turn around & use them as scapegoats, talk bad behind their backs and act like bullies. The environment is extremely competitive, jealous and toxic.
The bikes are filthy. Smells of musk. And are WAY too close to each other - the neighbor’s sweat would constantly splash on me. The instructors are so close they spit on front row riders when yelling. One instructor even jokes about the front row being a splash zone. Disgusting. Some pedals are so loose to the point that my shoe has flown out. When asking front desk to tighten my pedal before class, they gave me attitude or didn’t know how. Take a close look at the bikes when the lights come on in the room, you may notice rust on the bikes, one can assume this is sweat residue from the bikes not being properly cleaned.
As a personal trainer myself, my opinion is that the “workout” is too fast with unintentional choreography. Basically, the workout is rolling the legs as fast as possible with zero resistance while risking injury. I’d leave with hip & back pain. When I mentioned this to one of the instructors, he told me not to tell anyone. (!!) The overwhelming speed & spiked heart rate may force your body into fight or flight mode which is known to cause bodies to retain “fluff”.
*I LOST fat when I quit going.*
The instructors hardly ride the bike themselves, they aren’t saying any groundbreaking motivating words or correcting form (most don’t even have proper form) or have any personality, they just… yell. Not to mention, they don’t see past the culty front row. They consistently act like they’re better than clients, the old “Abercrombie” approach, but every once in a while an instructor may come talk to clients after class; I felt it’s pretty obvious that when they do it’s not genuine & they’re just desperate for numbers.
From my experience; the fake followers on Instagram, fancy marketing, dyson hairdryers, Aesop products, artwork, etc.; along with the lights, blaring music and excessive screaming is all a game of smoke and mirrors.
There are definitely bigger and better things out there.

They have no respect for their clients. As for the product, they pride themselves on being high energy/high intensity. Take away the screaming, lights & blaring music; what you have is an extremely fast spin class with pointless choreography. Yes you may “burn calories” but going that fast makes it near impossible to add proper resistance which removes the workout aspect & potentially destroys your joints in the long-run. Not to mention the choreography at that speed without perfect core engagement risks injury. The format may cause your heart rate to spike to unhealthy levels resulting in your body entering fight or flight mode - which is known to leave you craving sugars & carbs all day leading to a build of “fluff” as opposed to muscle. From my experience, all they’re selling is an adrenaline rush.

I went from being a beginner that couldn’t stay up for 10 seconds to finishing back to back classes not sitting unless asked to in about 45 days. Mind you, I thought I was in shape lol.

definitely my favorite spin studio in Houston! clean, positive, and always energetic!! ALL the instructors are so welcoming and kind, while always challenging and motivating - and the community is genuinely the absolute nicest!! Comfortably dark room, intense loud music (they provide earplugs for use!). Each instructor brings something unique to the table in terms of choreo, music genres, and flair, but I will proudly say that they all have EXCELLENT music taste. I love.
100/10 recommend :))

There’s no better time to ditch the Peloton and catch a Ryde!
Each fitness studio has their own unique culture and atmosphere. For this review, I detailed six different categories on a scale of 1 - 5 (1 being poor, 5 being excellent)
Location and Parking 3.5/5 - River Oaks has glitz and glamor, but parking is a struggle. Ryde shares a small parking lot with surrounding businesses in addition to a few spots in front of the studio on West Gray. It’s common for the lot to be full, but there is free street parking around McDuffie and Peden. Most importantly, the area is safe from theft & vehicle break-ins.
Front desk experience 5/5 - First impressions are essential, and Ryde thrives in this category. They are well staffed, professional, attentive, and courteous with customers. They do a great job of cleaning the equipment and getting people checked in efficiently. A couple suggestions would be to have a digital clock and/or a posted schedule to help riders navigate more effectively. Seating maps are posted on the front desk and right outside of the cycle room. Rental shoes are available for $3.50 and are good quality.
Bathrooms 4.5/5 - Square footage is at a premium in River Oaks, so be prepared to share space with your neighbors. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked with hygiene products such as hair spray, deodorant, mints, clean towels, and high quality soap & shampoos.
Cycling room 4.5/5 - Ryde provides a dry towel on the bike and a cold eucalyptus towel after the ride (very refreshing!) The lighting is quite dark in the main area which makes it difficult to adjust bike settings before class. Front desk staff and instructors are ready to assist, but it helps to arrive at least 5 minutes before start time.
During class, the dark room is a pleasant contrast to the clear lighting on the instructor’s stage. The music is often loud (earplugs are available) and the speakers are located in the front of class above the stage. Music sound quality is great, but instructor microphones can sound muffled and difficult to hear.
The main gallery has 4 rows of bikes with 11 bikes across. Additionally, there are 4 ‘wing’ bikes positioned to the left and right of the stage. There are a few limitations with the room that obstruct visibility. To the front-right of bike 41 and beside by bike 30 is an awkward, immovable pole. Also, the gallery is not terraced stadium-style, so shorter riders may struggle viewing the stage over taller riders. Finally, the bikes are older, but are sturdy, well maintained, and hand weights vary from 2 lbs to 5.
Instructors 4.5 / 5 - Ryde instructors are fun, energetic, create unique playlists and make the experience worthwhile. While some choreography seems to be recycled from class to class (mainly arms), experienced instructors add variety and adaptations to different moves. Even with repetition, Ryde is challenging, fun, and fast paced. What makes this studio unique is how empowered the riders feel to lead and participate with a variety of handclaps and shout-outs.
Ryde offers a variety of instructors, class times, and theme classes to tailor to different rider’s expectations. There are differences in style and delivery between instructors (for example, some are more explicit than others). Teaching group fitness is not one-size-fits-all, so I wish there was an easier way to provide specific post-class feedback to ‘Rate your Ryde’ via email or on the website.
Community 5 / 5 - My initial impressions are very positive in that people enjoy getting to know each other and leave the studio happier than when they arrive. Also, there does not appear to be too much client and/or staff turnover. Ryde does a good job of celebrating milestones and instructors and front desk staff emphasize getting to know clients by name.
Conclusion: Ryde is fairly expensive ($225-275 monthly unlimited, $32 for single rides) with introductory specials at ($25 first ride, $40 unlimited week), and accept class pass. It’s an investment, but Ryde offers an experience as much as a workout that is worth checking out!

Took a class here with my boyfriend, and won't be going back. They had so many bikes in one room, and they were all so close to each other. When we were doing other stretches we couldn't even stretch our arms without hitting the person next to us. Then we had to get off the bike and do standing stretches but my bf couldn't even fit in between the 2 bikes.

There just aren’t enough good things to say about this place!
I’m not one to usually write reviews but I feel like I’ve gotten a good enough insight into this place as I have been consistently going for the past 6 months.
From the moment I walked in the first time, I was greeted by Ashlee who sadly no longer works here but she ensured that I was comfortable in my bike and knew exactly what to expect. Since then, everyone at the front desk (Victoria, Kaitlynn, Miranda, Carly, Mariah, Nia, Will, Juelle) is welcoming and get to know you by name. There are a few others that just started and are so kind as well.
The managers Jessica and Mark always have everything together and running smoothly and if there’s ever an issue, they’re quick to resolve it and are easily accessible.
And then the instructors…all so different and fun!!! You will be constantly challenged by all of them and hooked immediately by the energy in the room. They are tough, yet encouraging, and have always made me keep wanting to come back for more. So much so that I actually actively work out now when before this, working out was never really a part of my life. CJ & Isaias are my personal favorite but you cannot go wrong with absolutely any of them!
Overall, this is an amazing place. I have been to a couple different studios, and though not bad, they just don’t compare to RYDE.

Caroline and the entire RYDE staff made me feel incredibly safe returning to in-house fitness classes as Texas continues to lift COVID restrictions. Beyond providing a “feeling” of safety, it is so refreshing that RYDE has gone above and beyond to ensure that their equipment is completely sanitized and there is sufficient time between classes to reduce contact with other clients. Throughout an incredibly difficult time for small businesses, RYDE has continued to adapt and meet their clients’ needs and varying comfort levels. Caroline’s streamable MOVE classes through the RYDE App have truly SAVED me and I’m so excited to try out the MOVE classes IRL! I’m so thankful this company has provided a sense of normalcy and consistency for their clients over the last year. Thank you, Caroline & RYDE!!

I would NOT recommend this studio/ gym as a safe place to workout during COVID. They are not following capacity restrictions of 75% or social distancing at all. Every single bike in the class was filled with the exceptions of the “side bars” which has no effect on how crowded the main floor is. There are 40+ bikes in the room and the bikes are no more than 2 feet apart. The instructor never wore a mask, not even while traveling across the room and coming in close contact with other riders. The temperature checks are self-taken on a tablet that the receptionist did not really monitor. I have attended other gyms and studios during the pandemic and I was not expecting a business like this to completely disregard everyone’s safety. Especially during a time where cases are surging at a dangerous rate. I felt completely at risk and kept my mask on the entire time. I deeply regret taking this class.

Don’t go to RYDE if you’re trying to social distance. I went to a 5:15pm class today and the class had 30+ people in it.
The bikes were very close together and when no one was wearing a mask during the class it was impossible to social distance and abide by the recommend 6ft protocol most places have in place. I could literally high five / sweat on 6 people surrounding me. Also, the instructor walked around the room and into the aisles several times.
The studio is operating at “75% capacity” and has extra sanitization protocol in place. However, I probably won’t be back unless they increase spacing between the bikes. Other spin studios have taken more cautionary measures to space people out during class — which is important in a heavy cardio activity.

This was my first time here and the friendly staff are wonderful! They didn’t hesitate to help me and reassured me that I could always ask for assistance if needed. I was given a quick tour of the super clean facility since it was my first time and they have all the amenities you would want like showers, towels, and lockers. I was told what to expect and shown how to use the equipment.
I was invited by a friend and was excited to try something new. I’ve never been cycling before, so I was also nervous about the experience. I have a certified service dog that has been with me for 10 years and have had my fair share of issues with him accompanying me to places. I was given no problems when I arrived, so I had one less thing to worry about. I was motivated and ready to tackle this cycling class. I was asked if my service dog would be okay in the classes due to the low lighting and loud music which I assured them he would be fine as he is a trained service dog.
I was assigned a bike near the back and was in the middle of setting up when I was told I wouldn’t be able to participate in the class. The staff told me that the owner said I needed a note from my doctor or vet stating it was safe for my service dog to be in the class and that he was mine. I know my rights, but a note to clear my service dog or doubt that he’s my service dog really got me. I’ve never heard of that! Maybe she heard the owner wrong? Of course, she was only the messenger, so I don’t hold it against her. I was already nervous about this class and now I was just confused.
I had to leave the room and wait for the the owner to come talk to me personally. She repeated what the staff said. Basically, I needed a doctor’s note stating my need for a service dog and that it was okay for him to be in class with me. I had my license with me and even offered to show them, which I wasn’t legally obligated to. I understand their concern for the safety of my dog since it’s dark and other participants might trip over him. However, I was already in the back and had him in a spot that wouldn’t obstruct others. That’s not even the point. He is a trained service dog and protected by the ADA, giving me the right to have him with me. Legally, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and state and local governments can not deny me access due to having a service dog and can only ask me two questions. Is he a service dog and what work or tasks is he trained to do. Yes and he is trained to mitigate my disability. I do not mind answering those questions, but that should have been asked when I arrived, not when I was already in class.
In the end, I was “allowed” to have him with me, but I couldn’t go back to where I was. I had to sit by the door. Away from my group of friends, who were the sole reason I even agreed to try this class out. The class was still great, I won’t deny that. The instructor was energetic and it was an intense session. However, I couldn’t enjoy the class anymore. I didn’t feel comfortable being ostracized to a corner like that and my first experience was ruined. I might try cycling again sometime down the road, but it won’t be here.

I like it. I had a road bike that I used everyday in Colorado, but that's not the best idea in Houston. This is a nice substitute. What it lacks in scenery, it makes up for in upbeat music and fun instructors. I came here off and on for a couple months until I found myself wanting to come more often so I got a monthly pass that I’ve renewed a few times. It is not a complete workout for guys since it’s just cardio but it’s fun.

I've tried a bunch of spin classes in the Houston area and Ryde is my favorite for a few reasons- they email you your mileage and energy stats after each class so you can check your progress, offer cold lavender towels after class, and they have the best music. The locker area can get a little crowded after class, I wish the towel/shoe return area wasn't right by the door as it tends to create a traffic jam. But other than that I love Ryde!

Love this place. Have had numerous instructors and enjoyed them all. Cool themed rides occasionally. Eucalyptus infused cool towels at the conclusion of class are a nice touch. I love that after class you can access a profile online to see your class ranking, mileage, etc. There are lockers, a shower, changing areas, and good quality hygeine products in the bathroom (deodorant, hairspray, lotion, Bobby pins, even razors!) which is a nice touch. Staff very helpful for first timers helping with adjusting bike and giving a tour. One time they gave out some Dos Equis on Cinco de Mayo, and another they had samples from nearby Nourish Juice Bar. I've tried four different Houston spin studios prior to Ryde. At first take, I thought this studio would be super exclusive and cliquey, like playing favorites to customers and judgmental if you aren't wearing Lululemon sizes 0-2. I was totally wrong. This place is welcoming to both genders and great for an amazing workout! It's a really sleek, clean and modern atmosphere. I like the organization of the workouts and the timings that are offered throughout the day. Most of the instructors and staff are fantastic.
The only reason why I didn't rate a perfect five stars is because of some staff that I feel are impersonal or not as welcoming. I perceive that in a business there should be a common mentality and everyone should be welcoming. I have encountered a couple of pretentious, sour-faced front desk staff members (one of them has short blonde hair). As for the instructors, most of them are awesome and have the perfect balance of motivation and silence while some instructors feel it's necessary to speak the entire duration of the class (in particular, my Rydes with Drew and Lisi). I get trying to motivate, but their voice does not need to fill every minute and second of the 45 minute class. I mean, give us a break to hear our own thoughts or just flow with the music, especially the segment after weights. Otherwise, this is a great place to come get a fantastic indoor cycling experience.

So I went to a class last night, I loved the look and the staff but the bike (#40) in the back corner hurt my ears so bad I had to do the whole class with my fingers in my ears. The walls are all painted with high gloss on sheetrock, sound bounces off those walls creating what I considered unbearable frequencies. Please put up some sound absorbing foam or fabric covered insulation on the top of the walls it's just a matter of time till some 20 something trying to get fit winds up deaf with a lawyer in the family and then your profits all go to a court room and a lawyers pockets. Great place just needs a little help from a sound engineer

This place is the next generation of spinning, a level above, and I have done spinning classes all over the place. In addition to the incredible class, they gave attentive and swift service that made it a pleasure to attend. Even though I don't live in Houston, when I'm back I'll return to Ryde.

Great workout, awesome instructors, really nice bikes, and the stats are really cool. The stats are just one more element that really helps me push for improvements. I started going regularly a couple months back and have lost weight and toned up very nicely just in a couple months. I have bad knees and running isn't an option and my preferred exercise of basketball isn't a good option anymore either. RYDE gets me great exercise in a short period of time. Every staff member I've seen or talked to has been very friendly also. Well worth the monthly costs in my opinion. I enjoy going and look forward to it instead of dreading it and MAKING myself go.

Ryde is the BEST indoor cycling class I have found in Houston. The instructors become friends, the staff knows your name and makes allowances for you when you are running behind, the equipment and room are by far the cleanest and nicest of any other studio and the classes have challenged me (in the best way) for over a year now. When others ask why I don't join ClassPass or other "share" exercise programs, I just tell them I would only want to use it here so there is no point! I am hooked and the results are just a by product of the most fun exercise with friends that I have ever experienced.

I've been coming to Ryde quite regularly now and I absolutely love it! I've only been to a few other cycling classes at different gyms and Ryde has been the only one that has been able to keep me interested and actually make me break a sweat.
I've taken classes with instructors Ashley, Brad, and Lauren. My favorite session has been with Ashley, her energy is out the roof and her teaching style is fantastic. It definitely helped keep me in the zone and focused.
The facility itself is very cool! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the receptionist at a very long bar-like desk. In the corner they have some 'Ryde' flare for sale like T-Shirts and Water Bottles. If you've been to Ryde before, no need to bring your wallet to buy anything. They already have your credit card on file tied to your membership. Heading towards the back area of the building you will find the lockers and two separate bathrooms for men and women. The bathrooms also include one shower if you prefer to clean up there.
The actual studio where all the fun takes place is pretty badass. It's a dark setting. There are several fans on the ceiling to keep you cooled down during spinning. When the class actually starts although it's dark, the crazy fun light show that goes on brightens it up quite a bit. The music choice is great, more of an EDM playlist which I enjoy a ton. At the end of your 45-minute spin, the staff brings in cold mint-freshed scented towels to wipe yourself down with.
I've been very pleased with my visits here, and recommend you check it out!

Started because someone told me I should try to Spin. Never tried and I never really thought about it. I got hooked and now I go 3 times a week and have been for over 4 month now. Good instructors, equipment and great music.
